Chapter Ten:

I'm very sorry this took so long anyway this chapter has some angst in it, I just wanted to warn you.

Grace was at work thinking about Lucifer ever since his brother Gabriel came to visit he's been acting strange. She was worried about him there would be days when she wouldn't see him and when she did he usually kept his distance. When they kissed it would be a light peck on the cheek usually when Lucifer kissed Grace she'd feel like everything was fine and wonderful now she felt like everything was wrong. She quickly put that aside and went back to work which dragged on by the hour but it eventually came to an end. When Grace came home she found Lucifer standing stiffly in the middle of the room, "Lucifer?" she asked. "Grace I need to tell you something" Lucifer said gesturing for her to come and sit.

Once she did Lucifer told her the truth excluding a few details which was the Winchesters and Lilith. Lucifer looked at her and saw her face crumble with disgust. 'How could I have been so stupid?' she thought bitterly, "Grace?" he asked he tried to touch her arm but she jerked it away. Lucifer withdrew his hand "I'm going away and I won't be coming back" he said softly he didn't want to leave her but he loved her too much and he hated the thoughts he had about her. Grace was his niece after all and he shouldn't have those thoughts about her. Grace didn't know what to say all she wanted was for Lucifer to get out of her sight. He had lied to her the entire time; all he wanted to do was wipe out all the humans and bring the apocalypse. "Grace?" Lucifer asked "what" her voice was full of venom. "I've changed because of you" he said but it was more of a plea "really?" she asked bitterly "because you said that you still need to carry out your plans" she shouted. Lucifer was taken aback by this.

When he didn't say anything she shouted "get out!" Lucifer looked at her expression and saw there was no longer any warmth or love left in her eyes for him. "Grace" he said "I said get out!" she shouted, he nodded his head and kissed her cheek before leaving. Grace looked at Lucifer's spot with anger but she was mostly angry with herself for being stupid enough to think the devil would good. Lucifer teleported himself to Indiana he didn't know why he just did but he continue to think about Grace he knew telling the truth would make her hate him but that's what he wanted it would be better thank breaking up with her or maybe it wasn't. Lucifer couldn't bring himself to say that he and Grace were done so maybe telling her the truth was easier for him because he could still be the monster that he was portrayed and not the loving and caring man he'd become to Grace.

Back in Kansas Grace was at a bar she wasn't drinking and the drinks she had gotten were the virgin kind. She was wallowing in self-pity and still fuming with anger. A tall man with shaggy light brown hair sat next her and smiled politely at Grace, she flashed him a smile and went back to her drink. Grace was still pissed at Lucifer and pissed at herself to notice the stranger staring at her, "so are you here with your friends?" the man asked "no" she said bluntly. "Are you?" she asked as an afterthought worried that the stranger would think that she was rude. "No, I uh actually got in a fight with my brother" he responded. "Sorry" she mumbled then said "my ex-boyfriend is an ass" as if she was trying to make him feel better. "Did you two just break up?" the man asked "yes" Grace said. She didn't want to tell the stranger the truth about Lucifer because they didn't exactly break up and he might think she was crazy.

"My name's Sam Winchester" he said holding his hand out "Grace Sullivan" she responded taking his hand. Grace decided to ignore the little voice in her head that said to stay away from cute strangers, 'who cares?' she thought it's not like she was going to take him home with her. Besides talking to Sam felt nice after what happened with Lucifer maybe she was crazy or looking for a way to ignore her anger but as the two began talking and Grace was beginning to forget all her anger at Lucifer and the anger she felt towards herself however some of it remained. As the night dragged on Sam and Grace were completely ignorant to Gabriel watching them.

Notes: Yes Grace and Lucifer broke up and you guys are probably pissed with me but this sets up the next chapter which is the episode Hammer Of The Gods and it also plays into the sequel.
