Cat Tales

Hiko parked his dark-sleek car at the front of the house where the crime had been committed and quickly moved toward the house. He was wearing dark clothes framed by a white cape to protect him from the rain. His black eyes turned colder and angrier as soon as he entered the house. He was met by a few police officers already meddling with things. Most of them bowed their heads reverently, knowing he was a high-ranking officer, and moved out of the way to grant him space.
"Where is Himura?" his commanding voice boomed around the living room making a few of them flinch involuntarily.
"Up in the room, sir," one said rapidly.
Hiko nodded and walked up the stairs until he reached the last room. Various officers were whispering by the door and he gave them a glare that made them scatter around. Some more officers were searching through the room and he felt his stomach clench at all the blood everywhere. His eyes quickly went up to the roof and the hole on it. It was a pretty high roof and a pretty wide hole, so it was made in one of two ways: product of a spell or someone went out of the room that way. Hiko shook his head making his low ponytail fly around.
His eyes then moved around the room until they settled on his student, Kenshin, sitting on the window frame. He moved towards him with silent steps and merely stopped when he reached him. He said nothing, only stood there. He knew how sensitive Himura was with most cases and even more, when children were involved.
"There was no one here when I arrived," informed the red-haired detective with an even and cold tone.
Hiko nodded his head solemnly, "Why were you here?" Kenshin was the one who called him to inform him about the case.
"Missy," Kenshin said with a guarded voice.
"The mangy cat?" asked Hiko with an eyebrow up in his hairline, "I thought it had disappeared."
Kenshin nodded and turned to his Shishiou, "She came back…and she was hurting." Kenshin furrowed his brows, "It felt like a curse…then someone was stealing her aura…it left a trail so I followed it here."
They exchanged a long glance between them until Hiko settled into a serious tilt of his lips, "I told you the cat was bad news," he reminded Kenshin with an undertone of irritation, "The question is…why was she cursed in this place, by who and why was she cursed? What did she do?"
