The following morning the rain was still battering against the window, Gordon was the first awake he made his way downstairs leaving Jill asleep he knew how much she needed her rest, he got the breakfast things ready as the kids slowly made their way downstairs.
When Gordon had finally got them all sat in the right place with the right breakfast in front of them did he sit down with his cup of tea and toast, he picked up the paper and started to read
"What are we doing today Dad" asked Tom before Gordon could answer
"Can we go to the park" asked Jonathon
"One question at a time" replied Gordon
"What do you want to do today" he asked Tom
"How's Mum" asked Katie
"I'm fine thank you" said Jill from the door way none of them had heard her coming down the stairs over the noise they were making. Gordon got up and offered his seat to Jill
"Thank-you" she said he then poured her a cup of tea and made some more toast which he promptly gave to Jill
"So what have you planned for today" asked Jill
"Nothing yet" replied Katie
"The park" replied Jonathon
"I don't think your be going to the park today in this weather" replied Jill
"That's not fair it's so boring here" replied Jonathon
"Well we'll see what we can do" replied Gordon
"Right if you've finished upstairs and brush your teeth please" he added, all the children made their way upstairs
"So how are you" Gordon asked moving over to sit next to Jill
"I'm fine really Gordon, so what are we going to do today" said Jill changing the subject
"I don't know you're the one with the bright ideas" replied Gordon
"I see you are as helpful as always" joked Jill giving his hand a gentle squeeze and getting up and going to the study
Jill got out a notepad and pen and started jotting down notes, Gordon stood there watching her for a while
"So what are we doing then" he asked
"A treasure hunt, followed by a picnic which the kids can help make" replied Jill
"That's brilliant, can I help" replied Gordon
"Yeah you can put these into place" said Jill handing over a pile of envelopes
Gordon noticed they had numbers on "Where am I supposed to put them" he asked
"I've written on the back where they're supposed to go" replied Jill
Half an hour later and Gordon had just put the last one in place, Jill was trying to calm the children down and keep them in the kitchen
"How much longer" asked Tom
"Not long now" replied Jill
Gordon walked through the door and gave Jill the nod,
"Right here's you first clue and remember to all work together" said Jill handing over the first envelope to Katie
The kids all ran out into the hallway and Katie began reading the first clue
"What took you so long" asked Jill putting the kettle on
"I was trying to build up the tension" replied Gordon
"Well next time you can be the one in here with the kids, and build the tension" replied Jill
