My Kingdom Awaits Chapter 10
The Dragon has been woken. That is the only thought running through Sansa's mind as Jon slumbered with his head on her stomach. What should have been a few joyous moments between them early in the evening had quickly turned into Jon showing his council he was not nor was he ever a King that you could speak to without respect. Jon had his hands lovingly on Sansa stomach with a slight smile on his face when Garland Tyrell had barged into their solar. Jon had finally felt the slight kicks that Sam had promised he would feel. Sansa understood Garland's fear and rage but he openly questioned Jon's devotion to the Realm and his manliness in front of not only his Queen but Arya, Sandor, Brienne, Loras and a few other guards.
The smile had slowly left Jon's face as he had slowly stood and walked over grabbing Garland by the neck and walking him over to their balcony. Sandor had grabbed Loras before he could do anything. Sansa closed her eyes and remembered Jon's words. "Do you think you'll bounce before the dragons rip you apart? If you'd like to find out address me or question my decisions in such a way again." Jon had shoved him into the rail and turned his back walking back into the room. He addressed his guards and demanded to know who was responsible for a sworn knight making it into their chambers without leave. Two City guards shook and explained that they thought council was allowed to seek out His Grace. Jon had told them perhaps they needed to reevaluate their position and suggested a post guarding the stables was better suited to their current skill level. Garland had stormed out of the room. Sansa knew they were meeting with their council early in the morning before flying out to address the issues in the Reach. Garland would have 12 hours to calm himself.
Jon had brooded through a supper with Arya, Gendry and Daenerys; clenching and releasing his fist around his goblet and ripping his food apart violently. Sansa had placed a hand on his leg under the table, but he had lifted it to his lips and gave it a dry kiss before placing her hand back in her own lap. After supper he had shown everyone the door before turning to Sansa and backing her up to their desk and kissing her firmly. Sansa had pushed him back to walk over and bar the door before being met again in the middle of the walk back and having her robe and shift ripped from her body. She had been so sure that their coupling would have been a quick affair, a release for Jon, but it was if his anger and worry had fueled his desires. After he had made sure she was wet and ready he had guided her to straddle his lap, but he had guided her for what seemed like hours of riding his rock hard cock. She was sure she would not be comfortable sitting for a few days, and was relieved that riding a dragon was less painful then riding a horse. When Jon had noticed her tiring he had simply stood and deposited her on the desk and kept up his even sure strokes until he finally also reached his release. He had ordered down for bathwater, and after a quick soak he had fall asleep talking to her stomach, making promises to their baby.
Sansa idly ran her fingers through his hair as he slumbered; she was growing cold but did not wish to wake him from the first real sleep he had gotten since before leaving to deal with Walder Frey and his brood. She noticed a shadow across their wall, drew a deep breath until Arya appeared beside her.
"What are you doing in here?" Sansa whispered, glad Jon's head and his other hand covered her exposed breasts.
"I heard relentless thumping, and once I realized what the thumping was I could not leave my hiding place. I had never seen Jon in such a state." Arya whispered back. Jon groaned and both sisters quieted.
"I am a man accustomed to war and the Night's Watch. I was awake the moment you drew a sharp breath." He said pulling the sheets up higher to cover Sansa. "What do you want Arya?"
"I told you why I was in here." She replied glumly.
"Did you really think there was a possibility I would hurt your sister? Had she not wanted to share our bed I'd have gone to the training yard to relieve my tensions."
"Arya everything is fine. Go get some rest. We are going to cross more names off your list tomorrow." Sansa said. Arya reluctantly stood and made her way from the room.
"You made me promise to protect her, even from you Jon. Let the Dragon go back to sleep before you burn all those you love." Arya said leaving to ensure she got the last word.
"You do not need to have Arya protect me from anyone but your enemies. Jon I know you would die before hurting me." Sansa said as she grabbed his arm, stopping him from leaving the bed. "I have a need to sleep beside you all night. " Jon smiled at her and leaned over and kissed her head.
"I have need to relieve myself, but do promise to return to bed." Jon said easing himself to their privy. He opened the door and stood with his back to her as he pissed. "Is there nothing I can do to convince you to stay behind in the capitol?"
"Nothing. I will not be left behind. You need the force of all three dragons to end this in a timely fashion. Jon I am about to end my seventh moon. We had wanted to be retired to Dragonstone in 2 weeks. I still want that." Jon walked over to her table and poured water into the washbowl and washed his face and hands before returning to the bed.
"And you will retire there even if we are still at a siege with the rebel army Cersei has built. I've already sent over the Unsullied and Davos to make sure the Island is clear." Sansa could see that Jon was not going to relent, and nodded her head. "I will fly back to you every night and I promise to be there when the babe comes."
"You can't promise me that. Not unless we end this threat. I am not he naïve girl I was to think this will be our last threat, but I do hope for a few years of peace. Like the reign of The First Jaehaerys."
"You are a queen more loved then Alysanne." Jon said rolling back over and pulling her to his side. "I will bring you 55 years of peace and more."
"All that I want in this world is peace." Sansa said softly. "We will leave this world a better place then we found it." Jon smiled into the top of her head.
"They will never forget that winter always comes and that while they are protected with fire and blood, it will also destroy those that oppose my peace."
In the early morning Sansa and Jon walked into their council room and met with Varys, Daenerys and Garland Tyrell. Davos would be sailing from Dragonstone later in the day with the King's fleet and Gendry had already left and would like be surrounding the sealing all exits by land from the Reach with his army and Dothraki soldiers. The Northern Army had pledged to remain in the Capitol, led by the Great Jon.
"Lord Tyrell you will sail for Dragonstone to leave with Sir Davos. We will get you home and to your family. Rest assured that vengeance will be brought for anything Cersei has done to them." Jon said. Garland nodded his head and left with Loras.
"Little Bird I don't like the thought of you going into battle without your guards." Sandor said as he left to join the royal troops that were meeting Davos to sail to the Reach.
"I will not leave the dragon's back until he lands with all of you." Sansa promised. "Arya will not let them touch me." Sandor gave her a look before leaving. Sansa and Arya left to meet Daenerys and Jon in the courtyard where the Dragons were being tossed sheep. They waited while the dragons ate before mounting and setting off over the waters. Quickly they could see ships, and quickly they took higher to the sky. Soon they were out of any range should their be Wild Fire aboard. Daenerys had encountered a blockade of ships when the Masters of Meeren had tried to rise against her, she led Rhaegal and Drogon down and soon the Iron Born ships were all aflame. Men abandoned the ships as the slowly burned. Sansa and Arya landed on the banks and were soon joined by the other dragons, burning any Iron born that made it to shore not waving a white flag of peace. Davos soon sailed in and their troops stormed the beaches, taking prisoners.
"We take to the skies and must met Gendry and his forces." Sansa and Arya took to the skies following behind the 2 other Dragons.
"I thought Theon would have been on the ship." Sansa said softly as they came open a battle. Arya shrugged. Sansa led Rhaegal over the battle and started burning a hole through the back of Randall Tarly's forces while Dany and Jon attacked from both sides. Gendry and the Dothraki easily broke the line, and from high in the skies, Arya watched from any areas that their forces seemed to be struggling pointing and sending in the dragons.
"Sansa land in the middle of the field and drop me off." Arya commanded pointing. "Gendry is battling the Mountain. He needs me!" Sansa quickly guided the dragon low to the ground, burning those men flanking The Mountain. Arya leapt from the back of the dragon and immediately was hitting the Mountain with tiny cuts, a death from a thousand blades as she called it. The Mountain was even slower, but still powerful. His blood ran black and reeked of rot. He knocked Gendry's war hammer from his arm and was backing Arya off when his sword was parried away by his newly arriving Brother who rode in on his black beast stranger from the shores.
"Get back to your sister girl." Sandor said as he began the dance with his brother. Arya retrieved Gendry's hammer and ran towards where Sansa was waiting off in the distance. She turned when to the west she heard hooves.
"The Kingslayer." Arya spat grabbing Sansa's out stretched hand and climbing up. They took to the sky and Sansa wasted no time joining Drogon and Viserion in the Sky as they cleared the way to High Garden. The landed off safely out of the way so the dragons could rest and wait for the troops, knowing Cersei and her Iron Born that were inside would know they were there. "The Kingslayer rides from the west." Jon mounted his Dragon again.
"He breaks his vows for the last time." Jon took to the air and was quickly followed by his Hand and Queen. Jon could see that the flag bearers were waving peace signs, but he had the dragons roar. The march from the west halted a single rider rode forward. Jaime Lannister was a man that had nothing to lose or gain anymore. Jon landed and met him in front of three dragons that stood down his troops.
"I returned to Casterly Rock to find Margaery with her head on a spike, her body hung by the gates, her stomach and womb ripped open. Cersei wanted to make sure not only that she was dead but should a bade had been made on our wedding night, it was also destroyed." Jaime said. "I've come to bring her back High Garden. I didn't know until we furthered our march you were here for battle."
"Turn around and head back home. Our army will deliver your wife. I will burn your entire army to the ground should you disobey." Jon said as Rhaegal took to the sky and safety. Viserion roared and Drogon never took his eyes off the archers at the front line of the Lannister Sea of red and gold-cloaked soldiers. Jaime signaled for one cart to come forward.
"She did not deserve this faith." He added as he retreated and turned his troops around.
"Make sure our troops of surrounded High Garden." Jon said as he guided Drogon towards Sansa and Arya who had landed with their troops that were marching from the battle along the shore. He came across Sansa kneeling on the ground tending to the wounds that Sandor had suffered in battling his brother.
"You are forbidden from dying Sandor Clegane." Sansa ordered as Arya dumped wine over the slash marks on his arms and thighs. "Bring a litter to carry him to the Arbor. Tell the Redwynes their Queen commands a Maester to treat her troops." Sansa slowly got to her feet again and placed a hand to Rhaegal for support. Raven's started to fly over their heads, and Arya quickly grabbed a bow from a soldier and shot one down.
"I have Willas Tyrell in a bath of Wildfire. I've already flayed The Queen of Thorns. I'll ignite this castle should I need to escape. It's signed by Victarion Greyjoy." Arya said. "Is it possible that Cersei and Euron have already left with troops for Dorne?" Jon nodded his head as he awaited reports from his generals.
"Randall and Dickon were not among the solders we captured. One of the living confessed that Cersei had Euron sail the Second Sons to Westoros and they continued on to Dorne with half of Tarly's army." Gendry reported.
"We must take High Garden back, Cersei would not leave enough Wildfire behind. She believes it to be her only weapon. We've completely decimated Victarion's Fleet. Euron's is not as large. The Iron Born are no match for us in combat, nor are they willing to die for a lost cause. They abandoned and sold Theon to the Boltons when it was clear he was losing Winterfell."
"There is no mention of Theon here." Sansa repeated. "We must find him and Yara."
"Sansa Theon is not likely alive. He and his sister were probably slain when Euron reclaimed the Iron Islands."
"No credit was taken from their deaths. Cersei would be taunting me with it."
"Right now they are not our priority." Jon said. "I do not wish more torture on Theon but peace and taking out his uncles and that Lannister whore are what we came here to do. If you cannot follow my lead you will be returned to Dragonstone to start your rest before birth." Jon commanded. Sansa sat up straight and stared down her King. "I do not mean to be harsh my love but you would not allow me to put your safety as paramount, you insisted that the Realm comes first. I will not let you put Theon first either." Jon said staring harder. Sansa nodded and looked away.
"What is next Your Grace?" Dany asked breaking he silence.
"Next? We inform the Tyrells that they will have The Crowns Support to Rebuild. We take down the outer walls and storm the castle. Like you said, the men inside will hand over Victarion." Jon said as he took to the sky. Sansa watched as he flew over their troops and set a burst of flame into the wall. It erupted, almost throwing Jon and Drogon back.
"Jon!" Sansa screamed realizing the wall must have been doused in wildfire. She breathed deeply as Jon circled back and had Drogon breath fire from further away. Cersei's plans again backfired; the wildfire aided Jon in destroying the protective walls around the keep in record time. Sansa clutched to her Dragon and cried tears of relief once Jon landed beside her, behind their forces and waited on their troops.
"Send Ravens forth to Dorne and to Second Sons. They are mercenaries for hire, but they should know they were hired to die. Let them know Westoros knows no King but the King from North who's name is Stark." Jon said. "If they do not return across the Narrow Sea of their own volition I will return their ashes to The Free Cities."
