Chapter 10
BB's P.O.V.
I was excited, this would be like a date for Danny and I and I couldn't wait. Robin had gotten the idea from Star that we should all go to a circus since Star never been to one. The only circus in town right now is Circus Gothica, a little too dark for my taste but I think that everyone will have a good time with it. I was next to Danny and I could feel that he was nervous.
"Danny, what's wrong?" I asked. He looked over at me, his beautiful blue eyes locking with mine.
"I've just had a really bad experience at Circus Gothica. I just hope it's run by a different ring master." Danny said.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked. Danny looked at me with a pained expression.
"No, the ring master had me under his control and had me do stuff I wouldn't normally do. Sam and Tucker had to knock me back into my senses." Danny said.
"Don't worry I'm sure if anything like that happens we can stop you." I said.
"I'd rather not be possessed again, but if it does happen I hope you can stop me." He said. I could tell that it upset him greatly to have that done to him so I sat even closer to him and held him. Sighing he closed his eyes and leaned into me. Before we knew it we were at the circus grounds. We got out and my eyes went wide.
"Damn, Raven you should feel right at home." I said. That got Danny to laugh at least.
"Sam was the same, in fact she talked me to skip school to go to the opening day. Needless to say that didn't turn out well." Danny said.
"I imagine it wouldn't." Robin said.
"What can I say, according to her I had a good time. Apparently I assimilated very well." Danny said.
"You kind of do now, bro." Robin said. Danny just smiled and took a deep breath. I grabbed his hand and we walked in behind the rest of the team. We found our seats towards the back of the tent so people couldn't really bother us. I glanced over at my boyfriend to see him not really relaxing. I squeezed his hand and we waited for the start of the show.
A guy in a black cloak, which was covering his face, came out with a staff and a red sphere on it. The red color seemed to swirl and I could feel Danny stiffen before relaxing. I glanced at him and he had a blank expression on his face. I decided I would keep an eye on Danny and the show. Throughout the show I kept my focus on Danny, he still had the same blank expression on his face. By the end of the show it was still there.
"Danny, are you okay?" I asked as we left the show. The group turned to us and I could tell that Robin was concerned.
"I'm fine." Danny said though he didn't really sound like it. His eyes were focused elsewhere. I turned to Robin again and he just shook his head. I knew that he wanted to wait until we got back to the tower.
The drive back to the tower seemed a lot longer than it actually was. When we got there Danny went to his room right away. Robin and the other's turned to me right away.
"Okay BB, what happened?" Robin asked.
"I'm not sure, on the ride over he seemed really weary about going there." I said.
"Why would friend Danny feel that, it was very enjoyable?" Starfire asked.
"Apparently Circus Gothica was once in Amity, and Danny had his mind taken over by the ringmaster and it made him do terrible things." I said.
"Do you think it's happening again?" Robin asked.
"I just don't know." I said.
"We'll just have to keep a close eye on him." Cyborg said. I nodded and went to Danny's room. He was asleep so I crawled in next to him. I played with his hair until his eyes flew open and they were the ghostly green of his ghost form. I gasped and he sent a blast at me. I was knocked into the wall and I kind of blacked out for a bit. When I came to Robin and Cyborg were in front of me with the girls at the door.
"Beast Boy, what happened?" Robin asked tensely.
"I was lying next to Danny, combing my fingers through his hair when his eyes opened and they were their ghostly green. He then shot me with one of his bolts which knocked me over here." I said.
"Do you think he is under the ring master's control?" Raven asked.
"I really think he must be now. I say we go back to the Circus grounds and get my brother out from under the Ring Master's control." Robin said. I nodded I wanted my Danny back. We raced over to the fair grounds to see the spooky black tent rising out of the ground.
"Okay, this place is creepy when it's empty." I said. Robin gave me a look before I transformed into a mouse and scampered my way in. I looked around from my little form and looked for my boyfriend. Inside the tent was filled with shadows but I didn't think I would have any problems finding Danny in his ghost form since it kind of glows.
After about twenty minutes of searching I finally found him towards the back of the tent where all the acts get ready. Danny always fascinated me in his ghost form but right now he looked very terrifying. Right now he was draped in a black coat with the hood covering his head. His green eyes glowing from within was utterly creepy. I transformed back and still hid in the shadows and sent a signal to the rest of the team.
I watched from my hiding spot as the Ring Master came in and started talking to Danny holding a staff with the red sphere on top of it. The red inside the sphere was swirling inside.
"You know what to do, I want those Titans defeated." The Ring Master was saying to Danny. The swirling red grew even brighter and Danny's eyes turned red for a second before turning to their usual green. I felt a tap from behind me and I turned to see Robin and the team standing in the shadows with me.
"So what's going on?" Robin asked.
"It sounds like the Ring Master wants to use Danny to defeat him and by the looks of by using that orb on the end of the staff of his." I said. Raven was studying the orb as if she recognized it.
"I know that orb, I have not heard of since my stay with my mother. It is a very powerful orb used to control malevolent ghosts to stop them from doing evil things. But in the hands of someone like the Ring Master it could control any ghost to do his bidding." Raven said.
"So to free Danny we need to break the orb?" I asked.
"Yes, and afterward we need to bury so no one else can find it." Raven said.
"Right, Beast Boy you go for the scepter and the rest of us will distract them." Robin said.
I nodded and transformed into a wolf. I didn't have to wait long for Robin, Cyborg, Robin and Starfire to provide a distraction. Danny was fighting them, and I knew that when we free him of this he would feel very guilty about hurting his brother, boyfriend and the rest of the team. The Ring Master stayed in the back watching the fight. Without his hood he was very weird and I knew he picked a good career choice in becoming a circus performer. I transformed back and his eyes grew wide when he saw me.
"Give me the scepter." I said in what I hoped was a threatening voice. The Ring Master just laughed at me.
"Now why would I do that? I finally have my chance to get back at the Ghost Child. He has caused me great pain in the past. He is the reason my circus was disbanded for a couple years. I was sent to prison and for good behavior I was let out early." He said. I had to roll my eyes, why is it that every bad guy we meet that have to go on a rant. Before I could do anything though I suddenly was blasted from behind. I went flying and hit a wooden post that was keeping the tent up.
"Okay, that hurt." I said to myself. I saw Robin go and kick the staff out of the Ring Master's hand and it flying and it totally broke the red sphere. I saw Danny stumble and shake his head as if to clear it. I made my way over to him and wrapped him in a hug.
"It's okay now. Don't guilt yourself over it." I whispered in his ear. Danny wrapped his arms around me and I could tell that he was starting to shake.
"I could see what I was doing but I couldn't stop myself. I could have killed you BB. I don't want to lose anyone ever again." Danny said.
"So who is this guy?" Cyborg asked. Danny turned to face the team but he still kept an arm around me.
"That's Freakshow. The last time he had me under his control he had me and three other ghosts steal from banks. Sam got me out of his control that time." Danny said. Robin was digging a hole in the ground and put the shards of the orb there and put the dirt on top of it to make it look like the dirt was not disturbed at all.
"Come on, let's go home." Robin said.
"Home sounds very good." Starfire said. Danny nodded and we all climbed into the car again and headed home.
