Yay! We have reached double digits! Sorry that it took a while to update, I've been "enjoying the holidays" (doing homework) Anyway, here it is, chapter ten, enjoy!

Chapter 10

Upgrade

" So now there are Rika's a Digidestined too…" muttered Ryo. He, Kazu and Kenta were making there way through the park after visiting Tamachi. That morning, they had all received a phone call from Rika, who had sounded much happier than usual.

" Haha, suckers! I am now a Digidestined! Sorry Ryo, but it looks like I beat you! This is revenge for that time in Kindergarten when you threw sand in my face! I believe it's called Karma!"

" Don't worry Ryo, you'll get your chance soon, I'm sure," Kazu assured him.

" Yeah, you'll definitely become one before either of us," added Kenta.

" Thanks guys, I feel slightly better," smiled Ryo.

" Maybe Tamachi will become a Digidestined…" said Kenta.

" He's not special enough, and nowhere near as cool as Ryo," replied Kazu. " Also, you shouldn't be daydreaming about him like that. That's Jeri's job!"

" Guys, shh!" said Ryo suddenly. " I hear something."

" What? I can't hear…oh," Kazu paused. He could hear it too. So could Kenta. It was a sort of grinding sound.

" Look at the sky!" shouted Kenta.

The three of them looked up. A gateway had opened. But it was different to all the others. It looked like an orange and purple vortex, and it was much bigger than any other gateway.

" Do you think Takato created that gateway?" asked Kazu nervously.

" Let's hope so," replied Ryo.

" Ah, the human world. So slow, so idiotic. Let's see what sort of damage Mihiramon will do!"

The gateway made a spluttering sound, and something fell from it.

" What? Something's coming from the other side?" cried Ryo. " This can't be happening!"

" Whatever that thing was, it sure looked big…" added Kazu in a shaky voice.

" Come on, let's go check it out," said Ryo, running off.

Kazu and Kenta looked at each other.

" He must be mad," said Kazu, but they ran after him anyway.

Meanwhile, in the middle of a busy street, it was Terriermon who noticed the gateway.

" Hey guys, look up there!" he exclaimed.

Henry, Takato and Guilmon all looked up.

" Is that a gateway?" asked Takato.

" It looks like it," replied Henry. " What a funny noise it's making."

They were still looking when something fell from the sky. The whole street had come to a standstill, and was eerily quiet. Whatever had fallen from the gateway crashed into the middle of the street. It was a large Digimon that looked like a tiger with wings, but Takato and Henry wouldn't have described it as that. After all, they had never seen a tiger before. The Digimon picked itself up, and banged its tail so hard on the ground that it ripped up the street. Most of the people ran away, screaming. Takato and Henry took out their devices, just as Rika and Renamon came rushing down the street.

" Guys! We're here to help. Renamon sensed a gateway was opening, so we came here straight away," explained Rika.

" Cool," nodded Takato. " So this is Renamon? You sure do look powerful…"

" Takato! Less talk, more action!" yelled Henry.

" Digivolution Activate!" the three of them cried in unison.

" Guilmon digivolve to… Growlmon!"

" Terriermon digivolve to… Gargomon!"

" Renamon digivolve to… Kyubimon!"

The three champions faced the new Digimon, who grinned at them, showing off his giant fangs.

" Oh great, he looks friendly doesn't he?" muttered Gargomon sarcastically.

" Come on you two, that Digimon fell somewhere near here!"

Kazu and Kenta were panting heavily as they followed Ryo down a side street.

" Ryo, will you – please – slow – down?" huffed Kazu.

" No, we have to keep going!" yelled Ryo, but he was stopped in his tracks when he noticed something on the ground. He skidded to a halt, and Kazu and Kenta went crashing into him.

" Why did we stop?" asked Kenta.

" I've found it," breathed Ryo.

" Found what? You're not making any sense Ryo," said Kazu.

" Look," smiled Ryo. He bent down and picked something up. He turned to face the other two. In his arms was a Digi – egg.

" See! I told you you'd be a Digidestined soon!" laughed Kazu. " Great… I better become a Digidestined before Kenta."

" Yeah…wait… what?" asked Kenta, confused.

Whack! The Digimon's tail made contact with Growlmon, knocking him to the floor.

" Gargo Laser!" yelled Gargomon, but they had no effect.

" This Digimon is way to strong," cried Kyubimon. " We need to somehow advance to the next level!"

At that moment, Ryo, Kazu and Kenta arrived.

" Wow, that's a weird looking Digimon," observed Kenta.

" Guys, get out of here, it's too dangerous!" yelled Takato.

" Should we go?" Kazu asked Ryo.

" No," he replied. " I might be able to help them when my egg hatches."

The Digimon was preparing to attack again, and Growlmon hadn't gotten up after the last one.

" We need to do something! Anything!" cried Takato desperately. There was no way he was losing his Digimon again. Without thinking, he grabbed his device and yelled " Digivolution Activate!"

Growlmon was covered in a red light.

" Oh my god," muttered Takato. " It's actually working."

" Growlmon digivolve to… Wargrowlmon!"
