Just out of curiosity… If I did decide to rewrite the Talida Prime series, how would you feel about Jack and Talida being love interests instead of siblings?

Jack and Miko screamed as the Predacon roared at them. This creature was officially scarier than the Insecticons.

Seeing that he was about to approach a canyon, an idea formed in Ultra Magnus' head. Shaking the Predacon off his ship wasn't going to be easy.

But it was worth a shot.

Rapidly descending into the canyon, Ultra Magnus put his plan into motion. Any chance he got, he would make the Predacon collide into a wall or he would deliberately crash into a rock pillar, regardless of the fact that his damaged engine seemed to disagree with his plan.

The same can be said for Miko's slight motion sickness as she thought the urge to throw up.

Seeing that wasn't going to work – and that he was going to crash into a wall – Ultra Magnus made his ship climb in altitude and ascended from the canyon, remaining close to the ground. Seeing a rock in front of him, he had an idea. Flipping the ship, he relished in the screams from the Predacon as it realized what was going to happen next.

What happened next was him detaching from the ship and falling to the ground as his prey got away.

His prey had gotten away for the time being.

Agent Fowler let out a sigh in frustration as he heard his phone rang once again. Recently, Megatron had been calling him a lot, preaching about how he only wanted to negotiate a peace with the planet now that the Autobots – and more importantly, Optimus and Talida Prime – are now out of the picture. Naturally, Fowler didn't buy it, but he had to keep the Decepticon Lord happy.

If only to stop him from blowing up the nation's capitol.

"What is it now, Lord Megatron?" Fowler sighed, making his frustration known as he answered the phone.

"Agent Fowler. It's Ratchet."

"Ratchet?!" June gasped as she suddenly appeared next to Fowler, "Where's Jack? Is he with you? Have you heard from Talida?"

"No, on either count. Listen. I don't have much time. I am taking a tremendous, yet calculated risk in contacting you. Hopefully, the Decepticons aren't monitoring their own frequencies as closely as they are to the humans," Ratchet prayed, "I am transmitting our current coordinates."

"RATCHET! YOU HAVE TO COME SEE THIS! THERE'S A SHIP IN THE HORIZON!" Bumblebee bleeped eagerly.

"WHAT?!" Ratchet shouted in disbelief.

"Ratchet, have you heard from anyone else? Have you heard from Optimus or Talida?" Fowler inquired, only to have the dial tone answer him in response. After pressing the line button a few times, he realized the Autobot medic had hung up on him.

June and Fowler glanced at each other worriedly. What had made Ratchet suddenly cut off their transmission.

Ratchet, Bumblebee – who was carrying Cayden – and Raf raced as the ship Bumblebee had mentioned earlier came closer.

"Stay here," Bumblebee instructed as he set Cayden down next to him, "We don't know what we're dealing with."

When the ship began its descent and landing procedures, Ratchet recognized it.

"It's one of ours!" Ratchet cried.

As the landing struts landed on the ground and the smoke began to clear, the trio could clearly make out the hatch on the underside of the ship opening and the occupants emerging.

It wasn't until the smoke fully cleared that they could make out who it was.

"RAF!" Miko yelled happily as she jumped off and approached the youngest member of the group.

Raf was surprised by the way Miko scooped him up and spun him round before setting him back down gently. But it was a happy surprise rather than an unpleasant surprise. Raf smiled as Jack began to approach him as well.

"Girl's got a grip, doesn't she?" Jack smirked as they clasped hands before hugging.

"You're alive," Ratchet sighed in relief as Arcee, Wheeljack and Bulkhead stepped forward.

"Cayden!" Arcee sighed happily as she retrieved her young son from Bumblebee, before her optics furrowed in worry, "His burning up. Why is he burning up?"

"Ultra Magnus?!" Ratchet gasped in disbelief at the sight of the famous Autobot.

"Doctor," Ultra Magnus nodded.

"What a grave disappointment this must be for you, master," Starscream crooned as Shockwave began examining the injured Predacon, "And to make matters worse, because it cannot speak, we have no way of knowing why the Predacon failed miserably. Poor, mute, mindless creature."

The Predacon growled at Starscream. He did not appreciate the insult.

"The new paint job looks good, Bee," Bulkhead commented.

"At least you had something to work with. If I reversed my colors, I'd be pink," Arcee cringed at the thought.

"The communication link needs further calibration to be compatible with Autobot frequencies. The GroundBridge, however, is fully operational," Ratchet reported to the Autobot Lieutenant.

"That would have come in handy when Robo-Dragon was trying to eat us for breakfast," Miko snipped, despite Jack's best efforts to tell her to keep quiet.

"The indigenous population on this planet… Do they all display the same disregard for authority?" Ultra Magnus asked Ratchet in annoyance.

"No. Mostly just Miko," Ratchet answered.

Suddenly, they heard the familiar sound of another ship rapidly approaching them. Ultra Magnus was quick to assume the incoming ship was a threat as he unlocked his blasters and prepared to fire. Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ratchet and Arcee, however, recognized the ship and were quick to stop him.

"No!" Ratchet cried.

"Don't shoot!" Arcee pleaded.

"It's Fowler! He's one of us!" Bulkhead added hastily.

Bulkhead's explanation – and the sight of Jack, Miko and Raf approaching the jet – was enough to make Ultra Magnus relax his stance. Once again, the desert sand was kicked up by exhaust as the jet came in to land.

Jack gasped happily when she saw his mother be the first person to descend from the jet with Fowler's help. June did not even try to hide her happiness and relief as she ran forward and hugged her son, sobbing as she did.

"It's alright, mum," Jack reassured his mother, "I'm fine."

Stepping back, Jack smiled as Miko and Raf raced forward to hug June themselves.

"Your families are fine. Agent Fowler saw to it that they were evacuated in time," June reassured them.

"The only signals Ultra Magnus were able to isolate are standing right here," Arcee reported to Agent Fowler.

"Maybe his scanner's faulty," Wheeljack growled.

"So the kids are unaccounted for!" Bulkhead realized in horror.

"Smokescreen and Talida were bridged out of the base before Cayden and I were. Only Optimus knows where and Optimus remained behind to destroy the GroundBridge to ensure that everybody else made it to safety," Ratchet revealed.

Fowler made the next saddening revelation, "I watched the base go down. No one or nothing walked out of there."

"Not that we could see," June cut in.

"Even if Prime survived, I'm not sure we can afford to wait for him to show up. Not with Megatron holding the planet hostage from his high and mighty perch at Darkmount!" Fowler snapped.

"I am inclined to agree with the native life form," Ultra Magnus said as he stepped forward, "We must stop Megatron with or without Optimus Prime."

"And Talida," Jack added, earning a weird look from Ultra Magnus, "Just making sure you have your facts right, sir."

"Knowing Talida, she went back for her father," Wheeljack stated.

"And Smokescreen would have gone with her," Ratchet pointed out, "To keep her safe. They have grown very close."

"I know Optimus is still alive," Arcee announced, referencing her spark bond, "How long things will remain that way? I don't know."

"And knowing how much it would endanger everyone, Lida wouldn't try to contact us," Jack sighed, "I mean, my text to mum nearly got me killed."

"IT WHAT?!" June screeched.

"We have to assume she knows what she's doing," Miko said, grasping her boyfriend's hand in reassurance, "And as Ratchet pointed out, Smokescreen would never let anything happen to her."

Talida looked up when she heard the familiar sound of Smokescreen entering the cave. She only saw his back and the light from the phase shifter on his wrist as he was dragging the Forge of Solus Prime through with him.

"You were successful," Talida observed as she stepped forward, "Did you have any trouble?"

"Not so much," Smokescreen shrugged before having a second look at Talida, "Whoa! What happened to you?"

"Let's just say that I'm assuming more responsibilities," Talida answered carefully.

They both were worried by the sighs the fallen Prime was making. Smokescreen and Talida knew that Optimus' vitals were taking a slow and steady decline. However, they weren't expecting the rapid decline he seemed to take.

"Dad!" Talida cried as she jumped onto his chest.

"I've got the Forge!" Smokescreen said eagerly, "You can use it to repair yourself!"

"That is not the reason I had you retrieve the relic," Optimus confessed.

"What are you talking about?!" Talida demanded, "What other use is there for it?!"

"The Power of the Forge is not unlimited. Its energy has already begun to ebb," Optimus sighed.

"So it's running low. Who cares?" Smokescreen scoffed, "All we need is enough juice to get you back into fighting shape!"

"Whatever power remains must be used to rebuild the Omega Lock to restore Cybertron," Optimus proclaimed.

"But the Forge can only be wielded by a Prime or Princess Rayna or her incarnate. And that thing is a little too big for me to wield," Talida remarked, "Besides, the only thing I would be using it for was to save you. Screw anyone else."

"The fate of all our kind is more vital than that mine of any one of us," Optimus chided, "Including me."

"No," Talida whispered.

"We must do everything in our power to ensure that Megatron's downfall," Ultra Magnus proclaimed, "But we must be smart about it."

"Whoa!" Wheeljack cut in, "Who put shoulder pads in command?"

"Temporary command," Jack corrected.

"Ultra Magnus is the only logical choice. He was trained by Optimus and served as his commanding officer throughout the war for Cybertron," Ratchet explained.

"Now, unless there is any other rejection, soldier," Ultra Magnus said pointedly to Wheeljack, "Please follow me."

"Aye, aye, captain," Wheeljack drawled as they all approached his entrance hatch.

With all of them on board, the hatch levitated into the ship. Immediately, Ultra Magnus approached a storage compartment and pressed a button on the doors. When the doors opened, it revealed an assortment of weapons stored inside.

"Autobots, take your pick," Ultra Magnus instructed.

"Now you're speaking my language, sir," Wheeljack smirked as he admired the weapons.

All Autobots turned towards the direction of the sound of weapons firing up. To their surprise, Jack, Miko and Raf were handing a smaller version of the Autobots' traditional guns.

"Tally gave them to us!" Miko revealed cheerfully.

"She armed you?!" Bulkhead squeaked.

"Where was that gun when we needed it?" Wheeljack demanded.

"Do you even know how to use them?" Ultra Magnus asked.

"Got a target, sir?" Jack threw back.

Shrugging, Ultra Magnus grabbed a piece of scrap metal that was nearby and put it in position. Without thinking twice, Jack took aimed and fired, hitting the scrap metal perfectly.

This made Ultra Magnus seriously wish the boy had been born Cybertronian instead of human.

He would have been honored to have him under his command in the military.

"Optimus, the Forge is a Relic of the Primes. We can't use it to restore Cybertron. Not without a Prime. Not without you," Smokescreen implored.

"There will be a new Prime," Optimus declared.

"We'll worry about that after we fix you up and we take down Ol' Bucket Head!" Talida scoffed.

"The time for a new leader is upon us," Optimus objected, "In my spark, I believe that leader stands before me right now."

Taldia gasped and immediately turned to face Smokescreen, who was just as shocked as she was.

Smokescreen? The new Prime?

Again… Shit just got real. And that is the end of Prey. Rebellion is coming! So is the end of the story.

BYE!
