A/N i'm so sorry i suck at updates! I just got really busy again! Thanks again for everyone still reading by the way

LIZ'S POV

At dinner, Harry was still here and he was telling Ron how McGonagal didn't even punish him. Of course, I could only hear him because he was right next to me. Apparently, he was now going to be a seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. The Weasley twins whispered about something else to Harry, but the second they left Malfoy showed up.

"I'm going to throw up if he keeps coming around," I muttered to Hermione.

Malfoy and Harry then agreed to have a wizarding duel after some snappy remarks and comebacks, which required meeting in the trophy room at Midnight.

Hermione obviously had to go up to Harry and Ron as soon as Malfoy left. "Excuse me," she said.

"Can't a person eat in peace in this place?" said Ron.

Hermione ignored him and spoke to Harry. "I couldn't help but overhear what you and Malfoy said –"

"I bet you could," Ron muttered.

"Hermione, just let it be," I said.

She ignored me as well. "– and you musn't go wandering around the school at night, think of the points you'll lose Gryffindor if you're caught, and you're bound to be. Its really very selfish of you."

"And its really none of your business," said Harry.

"Good-bye," said Ron.

"Well you tried," I said to Hermione. Then we ate the rest of our food and headed up to the dormitories.

HERMIONE'S POV

Neville still hadn't returned.

Liz and I did a bit of homework after we got upstairs. I could see Ron and Harry talking to each other, presumably about the duel, in the far corner of the Gryffindor common room. I still couldn't believe they were going through with it...I could tell Percy...but no I won't.

Once we decided to stop working, we went up into our rooms. I closed the hangings around my bed and laid down, but I didn't try to sleep.

At 11:15, I quietly stepped out of bed and pulled on my pink bathrobe. I couldn't tell if Liz had fallen asleep or not yet, but I assumed she had. I quietly crept out of the room and down the staircase to a chair in the common room where I waited. A few minutes later, I heard someone else coming down...but from the wrong staircase. Liz appeared at the bottom of the stairs in a faded blue shirt and some black shorts, not even bothering with a robe. She found me and sat next to me.

"You really are going to try to stop them aren't you," she sighed, but I stayed silent.

Ten minutes later, we heard whispers and two sets of footfalls down the boys dormitory staircase.

"I cannot believe you're going to do this, Harry," I said making Elizabeth jump a little and causing the muttering to hush.

I turned on the lamp, but instead of seeing Harry and Ron, it was an an older, slightly chubby boy and a girl with a face full of acne standing at the bottom of the stairs. They both turned to look at us like deer in a headlight for a moment before their faces went bright red.

"Oh! Sorry!" I quickly said and shut off the lamp. Liz was holding back fits of giggles beside me.

"You're face was even redder than their's!" she whispered laughing.

A bit after that, we heard more footsteps. This time, feeling more confident, I said the same thing as before, and turned on the light.

"You!" said Ron furiously. "Go back to bed!"

"I almost told your brother," I snapped. "Percy, he'd stop this."

"Come on," Ron said to Harry and they moved away to the portrait hole. There was no way I was giving up so easily and so I followed them.

"Hermioneee," Liz complained. She stood up after a moment and followed too. I said more about losing points for Gryffindor and how selfish it was while Liz just stood lazily looking over the railing at the moving staircases. When I turned back to the portrait hole however, the Fat Lady was gone.

"Now what am I going to do?!" I asked shrilly.

"Ugh Hermione," Liz said.

"That's your problem, but we have to go or we're going to be late," said Ron

"We're coming with you," I said before they were out of earshot.

"No don't come with us," Ron said.

"Well I'm sorry, but we are. Deal with it," Liz said.

"Elizabeth right?" Harry asked. She nodded.

"Well then, Elizabeth, what are you even doing here?" Ron spat.

"Well Hermione here happens to be my friend, and if she feels like sneaking out at midnight to stop people then I am sure as hell not going to let her go alone."

"Shh, I think I heard something," Harry said.

"Mrs. Norris?" breathed Ron squinting through the dark.

"Nev!" said Elizabeth, rushing forward. When we got closer, she was already helping him to his feet as he had been curled in a ball, sleeping on the floor.

"Thank goodness you're here, I couldn't remember the password to get back in – wait why are you here?"

"Harry has agreed to a wizarding duel with Malfoy in 20 minutes that is most likely a trap but no one else has realized that so oh well," said Liz very quickly and slightly happily? which earned her a few stares. "What? I think its true."

"Whatever," said Ron.

"Anyways keep your voices down, I don't want us getting caught," said Harry.

"The password is 'pig snout' by the way Nev –" said Liz

" – but the Fat Lady is gone so its no use," I finished.

"Hey how's your arm?" asked Harry.

"Oh yeah is your wrist better Nev?" added Elizabeth.

"Yeah, thanks for asking, Madam Pomfrey mended it in about a minute, but i wasn't allowed to leave until later."

"Good – well we have to be somewhere so see you Neville," said Ron, checking his watch.

"Wait, no don't leave me!"

"Well this is turning out to be an interesting night now isn't it?" said Liz happily as Ron glared at us.

"If we get caught because of you guys –" he started.

"Yeah, yeah we know, although you do realize that Malfoy has probably set you up to be caught, right?" said Elizabeth. No one responded.

"Whatever," she muttered as we kept walking towards the trophy room.

LIZ'S POV

We made it to the trophy room without getting caught. Malfoy wasn't there yet making us "early." I can't believe none of them realize whats happening. I decided to use lumos and look at the trophies around the room to pass the time.

After what seemed like an eternity, Ron whispered, "He's late, maybe hes chickened out."

"Or maybe, just maybe we are all taking a pointless risk and have wandered into a trap-wait no you disagree," I said.

"Well, you know you didn't have to come with us," Ron said.

"Fair enough." A moment later we heard Filch talking to Mrs. Norris from inside the Trophy Room. Oh crap.

Harry frantically turned back to us and waved us out of the room. We barely made it out before Filch walked through the exact place we had been moments before.

"This way," Harry mouthed to us. We all went along behind him creeping along behind the suits of armor in the corridor. We could hear Filch drawing nearer and then suddenly Neville let out a frightened squeak and broke into a run, causing him to trip and fall into a suit of armor, dragging Ron along with him.

The suit of armor came clashing down around us. The sound of the ringing metal seemed loud enough to wake the entire castle.

"RUN!" Harry yelled. We all did and followed him through the corridors, stairs, and old rooms without the slightest clue as to where we were going. Then we ripped through a tapestry that revealed a secret passage. We quickly went into it, and it brought us to the charms classroom.

"I think we've lost him," Harry panted. Neville was bent over double coughing and wheezing.

"I – told you – you'd be caught – told you," Hermione gasped clutching the stitch in her chest.

"W – what about me?" I said coughing as well.

"We get it okay," Ron said. "Now we need to all get back to the Gryffindor tower as quickly as possible."

"Sounds like a plan," Harry said.

Just when we went to leave the classroom, the doorknob began to rattle and in flew Peeves. Merlins beard no I thought.

"Please Peeves, don't – we'll get thrown out," Harry said.

"Ickle firsties wandering around at midnight? Naughty, naughty, you'll get caughty."

"Not if you don't give us away, Peeves please," I said.

Should tell Filch i should. Its for your own good you know."

"Get out of the way!" snapped Ron. This is one of those facepalm moments.

The moment Ron snapped, Peeves bellowed, "STUDENTS OUT OF BED! STUDENTS OUT OF BED DOWN IN THE CHARMS CORRIDOR!"

We all ducked under him and quickly ran out of there like our lives depended on it, that is, until we ran into a door, a locked door.

"This is it!" Ron moaned. "This is the end! We're all done for!" Then we could hear footsteps coming closer – Filch.

"Wait!" Hermione cried suddenly, pushing us out of the way and snatching Harry's wand. "Alohamora!" she said, tapping the door's lock with her wand.

The lock clicked open, and we all scrambled into the room and shut the door. We waited and listened to Filch talking with Peeves, who thankfully wasn't giving us away. I turned around to look at where we were and saw a fREAKING BLACK THREE-HEADED DOG THAT TOUCHED THE CEILING just looming over us.

"AH!" I yelled and scrambled to quickly reopen the door and get out as the others were only just turning to see what was here. We had all accidentally stumbled into the forbidden third floor corridor, and now we knew why it was forbidden. We all quickly got out, relocked the door and ran as fast as we could back to our tower, slowing to stop in front of the portrait with flushed, sweaty faces and the others bathrobes hanging off their shoulders.

"Where on earth have you all been?" asked the Fat Lady looking shocked.

"Never mind that!" I said.

"Pig snout! Pout snout!" Harry said quickly.

The portrait swung open and we all ran in and collapsed into chairs around the common room. We sat there for a bit, no one saying a word. In fact, Nev looked like he might never say a word again.

"What do they think they're doing, keeping a thing like that locked up in the school?" Ron asked, finally breaking the silence. "If any dog needs exercise, that one does."

"Do any of you even use your eyes?!" Hermione snapped. "Didn't you see what it was standing on?"

"The floor?" asked Harry.

"No, not the floor. It was standing on a trapdoor. Its obviously guarding something."

"The question then, is what is so important that it needs that kind of protection," I added.

"Whatever," Hermione said. "I hope you're all pleased with yourselves. We all could have been killed – or worse, expelled. Now if you don't mind, I'm going to bed." Hermione went off back up the stairs but I stayed sitting.

"You'd think we dragged her along, wouldn't you?" said Ron.

"Well a lot just happened, I mean don't be too annoyed with her. She was just trying to help after all," I said, to which Ron just stared. "I don't mean that I agree with all that she did, just please don't hold it against her. Hey Nev glad you're back cuz. Anyways, I'm going to go to bed nowl." I turned back to them all and waved. "Good night, and thanks for the adventure!" I said before going back up the stairs.

"Hey thanks for coming along Liz, but you ah -," Hermione yawned, "You didn't need to...Good night Liz."

I yawned and said, "Good night."...Today was definitely odd, but it was also kind of of fun...just you know, in that scary we could die way ah- i yawned again, goodnight Hogwarts...

A/N I'm going to try for a sooner update this time, love you all! Also sidenote, while writing the last bit here i yawned at least three times and i wasn't even tired haha
