Rock On
David Essex (covered by others)
It was an overcast Saturday afternoon in Danville. Lawrence Fletcher came home from work, parking his car on the street as he knew Linda would be home after a bit from running some errands.
He put his key in the front door and turned the lock, letting himself into the house. He heard music. Someone must have left a radio on, he thought to himself. I remember that song; I've not heard it in years. He began to nod along with the beat. The words coming back to him as though he had heard it moments ago in the car, or at least on the radio at work.
He entered the kitchen, dropping his keys on the counter. The music was coming from the garage. I wonder if Ferb's working on his car. Lawrence mused as he opened the connecting door to the garage. This was definitely the source of the music, but that was not a car radio.
Lawrence stepped through the door and paused as he watched and listened to his son. Ferb was half sitting on the workbench, his guitar on his leg. Lawrence stepped closer and joined in the refrain. Ferb smirked and continued until the song was over.
"I've not heard that in years." Lawrence commented. Ferb shrugged. "I remember hearing it as a lad. It came on the rock station this morning. I've not been able to get it out of my head since."
AN: Listen to any version of this song and the heart of the piece is the same. Each artist has put a slight spin to make it theirs.
