Hello everyone! I am so sorry it took me way too long to update again. I've reached a point where I'm struggling with writers block and it is seriously killing me. I know exactly where I want to go with this story and I have so many things planned it's just hard actually setting it up to get to those things. Hopefully I will get it together and stop making you wait so long. Although, this chapter is SUPER long so I hope that makes up for it. Please please please leave me reviews they're truly helpful and they also inspire me to get my shit together and write quicker! Anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter :)
PS *TVD SPOILER ALERT*: So did you guys cry your eyes out over this past episode of TVD? I literally want to kill Katherine for making Damon think Elena said all those horrible things! That was easily the most heartbreaking episode of the series so far (or at least up there with 3x22 and 4x15). Ugh I need Elena back in her body and back with Damon ASAP! Hopefully they don't drag this out for too long!
Chapter 10
EPOV
Mystic Falls used to be what many would consider one of the most boring towns in North America. It's the kind of place where everyone knows each other, we have cheesy parties for pretty much everything, children run around and ride their bikes playing freely in the town square, and nothing bad ever really happens.
Not anymore. Everything has changed.
After the news of Vicki's death spread around town the atmosphere has completely transformed. There are police officers everywhere: school, The Grill, patrolling through the residential neighborhoods, even cheer practice (I think Sherriff Forbes is responsible for that one). The woods on the eastern side of town have been closed off. It's insane. Everyone is scared.
When Amber's attack became common knowledge people were frightened, but I think we all expected it to be a one time thing. She'd been out by herself one night and someone passing through town took advantage of her, or it was a personal issue, that's what we wanted to believe. And it made sense. Why would a cereal killer/rapist choose Mystic Falls as the place to commit a string of crimes? Everyone wanted to believe that it was a one-time thing and that would be the end of it, but this is proof of just how wrong we were. Not to mention that whoever did this has switched it up to full on murder.
According to the police Vicki died of blunt force trauma to the head as well as bleeding out from multiple stab wounds, and just like Amber she appeared to have been raped and tortured. It's sickening. Who does these kinds of things?
Matt is beside himself, and he has every right to be. His mom came back into town when she heard what happened and she's been staying at the house with Matt, but I have a feeling she'll be gone again soon. It's what she does. She comes home and claims she wants to be a better mother, and then she bails when things get tough. They decided to forgo a standard funeral and spread her ashes over Wickery Bridge instead. We had a Memorial at school today that the student council organized and they both attended, it was heartbreaking.
"Hey Lena can I get a ride home?" Caroline asked pulling me from my thoughts as I gathered all the books inside my locker at the end of the school day.
"Of course," I smiled slamming the door shut and turning to walk out towards the parking lot. We passed Vicki's locker and I had to push back tears when I saw all of the flowers and candles surrounding it. I know she didn't care for me very much, but I've known her for most of my life, and she's Matt's little sister. I still can't believe she's gone.
"This week really sucks," Caroline sighed as we pulled out of the parking lot towards her house.
"You're telling me," I shook my head and sulked as we continued driving along the tree-lined streets of Mystic Falls. Everything still looks the same, but it sure as hell doesn't feel the same.
"Ugh shoot," she frowned looking down at her phone. "My mom's working the night shift again and Klaus says he has stuff to take care of with his brother until late, do you mind if I spend the night? I really don't want to sleep at my house alone."
"Yeah I'd be freaked out too," I nodded. We stopped by her house quickly so she could get her things before going directly back to my house. Caroline had decided to give us the day off from cheer practice today. The school we're supposed to play on Friday has a terrible cheer squad so she's not really worried, and with everything that's going on it's hard to worry about things so trivial.
"Just make yourself comfortable I need to check on Jeremy," I said setting my bag down and she nodded as I turned to walk up the stairs. He hasn't taken Vicki's death well at all. He hardly leaves his bedroom unless he's coming downstairs to get food. John tried to get him out of bed so he'd go to school, but he just ended up getting cursed out with the door slammed in his face.
"Jer it's me," I said knocking lightly and waiting for a response. It was silent. "Well I'm home from school, and Caroline's here spending the night so I thought maybe we could order pizza."
"Fine," I heard him mumble from the other side of the door and I decided to leave it at that. I know from personal experience that when you lose someone you often need time for yourself, and I don't want to push him. I spent a lot of my time huddled up in my bedroom this past summer and it used to make me so mad when people would try and convince me to do something when all I needed was time to grieve, and that's why I'm allowing it for Jeremy.
"How's he doing?" Caroline asked when I walked back downstairs into the living room.
"The same I think," I shrugged trying not to stress too much about it. "Anyways, you want to order pizza?"
"Yes I'm starving," she nodded enthusiastically and I dialed the number to call in our order. We flipped on the TV and settled on a Friends rerun while we waited for the food.
"Have you talked to Damon lately?" She asked after a few minutes went by.
"Yeah we've been texting," I shrugged without looking away from the TV. I didn't want her to see me blush, it's kind of embarrassing. The truth is I haven't been able to get him out of my head since our date on Monday, and I wish I could see him more. I wish I was with him right now, but John is going to be home soon and Caroline is spending the night so it's not exactly an option.
"Well Klaus was going to come to the game on Friday to watch me cheer and I was wondering if maybe Damon would come along," she asked smiling encouragingly.
"I don't know," I frowned turning to face her. "Damon and I are seeing each other, but it isn't like he's my full on boyfriend. I don't want him to feel pressured to do something he wouldn't normally do when we aren't even in a real relationship."
"Well just bring it up casually," she offered optimistically. "Next time you talk ask if he wants to tag along with Klaus so you guys can hang out after the game. John never goes and you'll just have to be careful of wandering eyes if you talk to him. Then you guys can go out afterwards and do something he wants to do."
"Maybe," I mumbled quietly as I turned to face the TV again. I have a lot of insecurities when it comes to my relationship with Damon. He's not a commitment kind of guy and he doesn't have girlfriends, and while he's agreed that neither of us should see other people I doubt he suddenly wants to be my date to the prom. That's just not who he is.
Not to mention all of his experience. Every time we kiss I'm afraid that I'm not as good as the past girls he's been with, and I don't even want to discuss how I'll feel once things begin progressing further than that. Matt is the only guy I've ever done anything with and we were each other's firsts for everything so we hardly had a hot and steamy relationship. What if I don't measure up for Damon?
When the food arrived Caroline and I ate quietly while we watched television and finished up our homework for the day. John got home around 7 and immediately retired to his study claiming he had work to do. Around 10 Caroline and I decided to head to bed and after setting her up in the guest room and changing into my pajamas I collapsed into my bed, my body full of exhaustion. Just as I was about to turn the light off my phone buzzed from it's spot on my end table and I smiled when I saw that it was Damon.
"Hey stranger," I answered biting my lip and fighting the blush that was making it's way onto my cheeks.
"Hey beautiful," he replied in that usual velvety voice of his. "I'm not calling too late am I?"
"Nope you're perfect," I said smiling to myself. "What's up?"
"Well I kind of wanted to see you again soon," he said in a tone so full of hope it made my heart clench. "I know you're busy with school and what happened to your friend's sister, but I was hoping we could do something Friday."
"I would love to," I responded excitedly. "I have to cheer at the football game, but I'm free afterwards." I thought about Caroline's words earlier and decided to bite the bullet and take her advice. "You could come to the game if you want to. Klaus is supposed to come so you wouldn't be by yourself and we could head wherever you want to go once I'm done."
"Seeing you in a cheerleader uniform?" He asked in a husky voice. "How could I say no to that?"
"Keep it in your pants Salvatore," I retorted playfully.
"Okay well bring a change of clothes with you because we're going to a party," he said jauntily. "Plus I wanted to introduce you to someone."
"Sounds good," I responded contently.
"Well then sweet dreams Elena don't let the bed bugs bite," he said in a singsong voice and I laughed before saying goodbye and putting my phone back on the table to charge for the night.
DPOV
"So what exactly are you going to say?" Klaus asked as we drove towards my father's boarding house Thursday morning. I had decided to have a talk with my father today about what exactly his intentions are concerning my job.
"I'm just going to flat out ask him what the deal is," I shrugged stopping my Camaro in the long driveway.
"I don't know if this is such a good idea mate," he said hurrying after me as I walked towards the front door. I rolled my eyes and ignored him as I unlocked it and made sure to lock it behind me.
"Klaus we could be in deep shit here if I don't say something," I hissed under my breath. "I need him to know that I'm not his puppet, I'm not some idiot that can be manipulated. If he's trying to pull a fast one on me I need him to know that I'm already one step ahead."
"Damon he's your dad," Klaus said under his breath. "Do you really think he would do something like this to his own son?"
"I don't know that's why I need to talk to him," I said turning around towards the direction of Giuseppe's study. I saw Stefan sitting in the parlor with Rebekah and stealthily snuck past without them noticing, I'm not really in the mood to chitchat.
"We need to talk," I said opening the door to the study without bothering to knock. John Gilbert was sitting in one of the chairs across from my father's desk and they both scowled at me.
"Damon is there a reason you thought it would be acceptable to rudely interrupt me while I'm in the middle of something important?" he growled angrily.
"We need to talk," I repeated folding my arms over my chest.
"It's fine Giuseppe we can finish this discussion at a later date," John said getting up from his seat and brushing past me giving me a look that would've frightened me had I not just spent 4 months in jail. I could kick his ass so easily he'd never see it coming.
"Well now that you've interrupted my meeting take a seat," he deadpanned and I rolled my eyes before sitting down. "So what is it that you needed to talk to me about? This better be important Damon."
"I want to know what your intentions are," I said raising an eyebrow at him. "I know you're involved in drug smuggling with a payday that makes what I'm doing practically pointless, and I don't understand why you would bring all these dumb kids into the business to deal locally when you've been preaching about staying off the radar for my entire life. Not to mention, one of those idiot drug-dealing teenagers is now dead and none of it adds up. I don't know if you think I'm some sort of idiot or what, but I don't like being manipulated like this."
"I had nothing to do with Vicki Donovan's death," he said defensively. "I would never hurt a child Damon and I would never take advantage of a young woman like that you can't possibly think that low of me."
"Okay fine but what about the rest of it?" I demanded.
"I didn't want to tell you," he said resting his face in his hands on the table. It was perhaps the most vulnerable I had ever seen him, my stoic no-emotions father was crumbling before my very eyes. "God Damon I didn't want to tell you."
"Dad what happened?" I asked worriedly.
"Everything was fine it was all working out," he said standing up from his desk chair and walking towards the drinks cart to pour himself a glass of scotch. "I had the perfect set up and I was going to make so much money I could've taken over the entire east coast. That was my first mistake, I was greedy."
"So what happened?" I asked again.
"What happened was I got too comfortable," he said downing the whole glass in one gulp and pouring another. "Everything was going great and I was about to get the biggest payday of my life, but the men that I was working for turned on me. They threatened me, my family, the business; all of it. I lost everything Damon, and if I don't do what they say then I'm going to lose my life too, maybe even yours or Stefan's. I needed you to deal the drugs because as of right now that's our only source of income, and I needed people that were easy to control. You know that side of the business and I knew I could trust you."
"That's why you hired my friends and Jeremy," I said putting the pieces together. "You needed people who these guys wouldn't suspect; people who weren't previously involved in the business. What happens when they find out that you're dealing and keeping the money behind their back?"
"That's what John Gilbert is for," he said sitting back down at his chair and staring desolately into his scotch glass. "He's laundering the money I've managed to keep from them into an account in his own name for a percentage of the profit. I'm trying to invest it so I'll at least have a steady income. I don't want to lose the house or your brother's trust fund, he doesn't even turn 18 for a couple more months."
"Does this have something to do with me getting attacked last month?" I asked frowning.
"Damon you have to know I didn't think that they would come after you like that," he said shaking his head frantically. "I was trying to get out and it backfired on me."
"Dad this is insane," I shouted running my fingers through my hair. "What happens the next time you piss them off? Someone could die!"
"You don't think I know that," he shouted standing up from his chair. "Damon I'm doing everything I can to keep us a float and I'm following all of their directions. Why do you think I hired Luca? He's my bodyguard and he's also keeping an eye on you and Stefan! I will figure a way out of this Damon I just need time!"
"Dad someone could die," I shouted angrily. "Look how easy it was for them to get into the house and beat the shit out of me! They could've killed me right there!"
"But they didn't Damon," he said angrily. "They need me to be their patsy and they know that without me their whole operation would turn to shit. If they hurt one of my sons I would be out and they know that."
"What happens when they don't need you anymore dad?" I asked fearfully. "What happens when they realize they could find someone else to do your job and you no longer become a necessity?"
"Damon I swear to you that everything will be okay," he said reaching a level of calm with his voice. "I was stupid and it bit me in the ass and I'm sorry that you got hurt, but now they have me where they want me and I have every intention of doing what I can to keep you and Stefan safe. Just keep doing what you've been doing and you'll be fine."
"I want Stefan to stay with me," I said abruptly.
"Damon that's not necessary," he said shaking his head.
"I don't care what you think dad he's staying with me," I said standing up from my chair. "I have a spare room and I think he'd be safer there. I also don't want to do my business in the house anymore; it's not safe. I'm coming up with an alternate location."
"Damon-"
"It's that or I call the police dad," I interrupted him.
"Fine," he said leaning back in his chair and I nodded.
"I'm going to pack him up now," I said leaving his office and slamming the door behind me. I found Stefan still sitting in the parlor with Rebekah.
"Hey brother is everything okay?" Stefan asked slightly puzzled. "I heard yelling coming from dad's study."
"Yeah we need to talk," I sighed running my fingers through my hair for what must've been the hundredth time today. "Beks can you go this is kind of a brother thing."
"Uh yeah I'll head out," she nodded kissing Stefan goodbye and leaving quickly.
"So what's going on?" Stefan asked anxiously.
"You're going to come stay with me for a while," I said gesturing for him to follow me up the stairs.
"Wait Damon, why?" he asked trailing me towards his bedroom. "Damon what's going on?"
"Look dad is in some trouble and you'll be safer with me," I said walking into his room and hurriedly taking a suitcase from his closet and tossing it at him.
"What kind of trouble?" He asked as his eyes grew wide in fear.
"Look I promise I'll tell you everything on the way I just need you to pack right now," I said grabbing a pile of t-shirts from his drawer and throwing them into the suitcase. "Come on brother, pack."
"Okay okay I'll pack," he said walking into his closet and grabbing another suitcase. Once we had everything he thought he would need I helped him get his stuff out the door and into the Camaro. Him and Klaus both looked at me expectantly as I pulled out of the driveway and I realized it was time to talk so I told them everything. There was no point in lying about it and they both deserved to know the truth, especially Stefan. He's apart of this whether he likes it or not.
"Damon we have to do something," Stefan said worriedly. "Dad could get killed."
"Dad got himself into this mess Stefan we don't have to do anything except watch our backs," I said angrily.
"Oh please stop doing that thing again," he said rolling his eyes.
"What thing?" I asked annoyed.
"The thing where you pretend not to care when we all know you secretly do," he said bitterly. "If you didn't care then you wouldn't keep working for him and you wouldn't be so upset."
"Okay fine so I feel like I owe it to my family to help out," I grumbled angrily," and hell yeah I'm upset because he's involved the both of us in his problems that stemmed from him being a greedy ass hole. Do I want him to die? No, I'm not that horrible. All I'm saying is that it's a little bit hard for me to find a soft spot for the guy right now considering what he's gotten us into."
"Okay fine I get it," he sighed leaning back into his seat. "How long do I have to stay with you?"
"Indefinitely," I replied pulling up in front of my condo. He sighed in defeat as he walked towards the front door with his suitcases. "Oh come on brother it'll be fun," I said slapping him on the back.
"What about Rebekah can she come over if I want her to?" He asked as we set his suitcases down in the spare bedroom.
"Oh no way mate you're not nailing my sister in my house," Klaus said shaking his head and cringing.
"Oh Klaus get over it," I said rolling my eyes. "Stefan you can do whatever you want just keep the volume down."
"That's bloody disgusting," Klaus winced before leaving the room.
"Look this'll be great you get to live with your totally cool older brother," I said encouragingly and he rolled his eyes with a small chuckle.
"No offense Damon, but I had just as much freedom living at the boarding house," he smirked and I nodded because I know he's not lying. I grew up there too.
"Look please just humor me brother," I said running my hands through my hair again. "Come on, I'll make lunch."
"Do you think dad will be okay?" He asked frowning and I sighed before reluctantly nodding my head and motioning for him to follow me to the kitchen.
"Look Stef dad's a smart guy I'm sure he'll figure something out." The words came out of my mouth and Stefan seemed to buy them, but I'm not so sure I believe them myself.
Once we finished eating and Stefan excused himself to go unpack I went up to my bedroom and opened up the drawer to my end table. The gun I had bought back when I still worked for Vaughn was still there and I double checked to make sure it was loaded. A guys can;t be too safe right?
EPOV
I took one last look in the mirror and smoothed out my cheerleading uniform until I was satisfied before grabbing my bag for school and skipping down the stairs. I couldn't help but be happy because I was going to see Damon tonight.
Having a secret relationship seems like a fun idea in theory, but in reality it kind of sucks. I never get to see him. When Matt and I dated we would hang out at each other's houses all the time and he was always over for dinner, but it can't be like that with Damon. He can't come over to the house because of John, we can't be seen together in public because someone might tell John, and I can only have Caroline cover for me so much before he starts to get suspicious. It's resulted in a relationship that has been maintained via text message and I hate it. I haven't seen him since Monday, but I've been thinking about him pretty much every second of every day. Now with the prospect of seeing him I'm positively giddy.
"Morning Elena," John said as he flipped through the morning paper before looking up at me. "So there's a game tonight?"
"Uh yeah we're playing Hopewell tonight," I shrugged pouring myself a cup of coffee. "I probably won't be home until pretty late there's a party at the Lockwood's after." It wasn't exactly a lie, I would be home late and there was going to be a party at the Lockwood's I just wasn't going to be there.
"Well I hope you have fun," he said biting his toast and picking up the paper again. "Do you think Jeremy will be okay with going to school today?"
"Uh I doubt it there wasn't a sound coming from his room all morning and I never heard the shower running," I said grabbing an apple to take with me for breakfast.
"I guess he can get his free pass again but he needs to go back on Monday," he said shaking his head. "I understand he is in mourning, but the school called yesterday because he has a lot of absences and they're worried."
"I'll talk to him this weekend," I said finishing off my coffee and waving goodbye before taking off for school. The weather was warm and the sun was shining bright, which is always a relief on game days. Having to cheer when it's freezing cold or raining is the absolute worst; especially because Caroline doesn't let us wear our warm ups and makes us stay in the uniform, which includes a crop top. Last years homecoming ended with my lips turning blue.
I spotted Bonnie when I pulled up into my usual spot and she smiled warmly as I walked towards her.
"Hey no Jeremy again?" She asked worriedly and I nodded. "How's he doing?"
"I guess he's how anyone could expect him to be," I said as we walked into the school and she nodded understandingly.
"So uh how's Damon?" She asked in a tone that wasn't very happy and I gave her a pointed look. "What? I'm trying to be supportive," she shrugged.
"He's fine we're hanging out tonight after the game," I said stopping at my locker to get out my history book.
"So you're not going to Tyler's party?" She asked solemnly and I nodded.
"I hardly get a chance to see him as it is Bon," I said slamming the door closed.
"I know," she said offering me a small smile. "I should get to class, but I'll see you at lunch."
"I sense tension," Caroline said coming up from behind me and I jumped.
"Geez announce yourself next time Care," I said covering my rapidly beating heart with my hand.
"Sorry," she said with a small smile. "Anyways, you two aren't fighting again are you?"
"No she's just bummed because I'm missing Tyler's party tonight," I said as we walked towards first period.
"Oh yeah I'm not going either," she responded as we took our usual seats. "Klaus is taking me to the same party you're going to with Damon. I'm not really in the mood to hang out at my ex boyfriend's house anyways."
"Do you think she'll be okay?" I asked slightly concerned. "I mean you and I are dating two guys who also happen to be roommates and best friends and I know Bonnie must feel a little left out."
"It isn't like I want her to feel left out I just don't really know what we can do about it," she shrugged and I nodded in understanding. I don't want my relationship with Damon to cause problems between Bonnie and me, but at the same time I've never felt this way about anyone before and there's a part of me that doesn't care. It sounds horrible, but if things with Damon and I continue in the right direction I see myself completely falling for him and at the current moment that prospect is too thrilling for me to ignore. There's nothing worse than those girls who get a new boyfriend and suddenly start ignoring all of their friends, but now I kind of see their point of view. I want to be with Damon every second of every day and we aren't even really dating yet.
Once the school day passed I hurried home to grab my change of clothes for later and fix my hair and makeup for the game before heading out early for our usual pre-game ritual. Friday night football is a staple in this town and the games are generally attended by just about everyone.
Thankfully everyone doesn't include my Uncle John, he's never come to a game and I've never asked him to. My parents never missed one, even before I was on the cheer team they were here every Friday with pompoms and face paint, but that's just the kind of people they were. I know the whole town is still on edge after what happened to Vicki, but people also crave normality and Friday Night Football in Mystic Falls is about as normal as it gets.
"Elena Gilbert stop zoning out," Caroline shouted as she stood in front of us while we went over our halftime routine.
"Sorry," I replied meekly and she rolled her eye before focusing back on the group. Once she was satisfied that we wouldn't "embarrass ourselves" and we started getting ready for the football team to run out onto the field I spotted my blue eyed mystery man up in the stands with Klaus and I felt my stomach erupt in butterflies. I wanted to ditch the game and spend time with him instead, but that wasn't exactly an option so I plastered on my usual fake smile and waved my pompoms in the air as our football players ran out onto the field.
As the game continued I found myself paying more attention to Damon than the actual score, which Caroline did not like one bit. She gave me a serious talk about my lack of spirit during halftime so I humored her and forced myself to perk up until the game was over. Everyone was in a good mood because we won, but my good mood had nothing to do with football.
Since Caroline and I are still trying to keep our current relationships on the down low we promised to meet the boys once the crowd died down, which gave us more time to get ready. I slipped out of my uniform and into a pair of black high-waisted shorts with a red crop top and a black bandeau underneath. As I started tying up my old worn out pair of combat boots Bonnie was just packing up the rest of her duffle next to me.
"Well have fun tonight," she offered with a fake smile that I returned before I watched her walk out of the locker room.
"She's being witchy," Caroline said sitting down next to me and slipping on a pair of heels. Her outfit was far from the casual comfort I was dawning. She had on a leather high-waisted skirt with a white crop top and tall black heels. She looked fabulous of course, but she's Caroline so that's to be expected. "I wonder if she's just PMSing or something."
"I think she feels like we're bailing on her," I said pulling my hair out of its ponytail and shaking it out so it would lie straight.
"We should set her up with someone," Caroline said excitedly. I could already see the twinkle in her eye and I knew this would be a terrible idea.
"No way Care she would kill us," I said shaking my head.
"Oh come on Klaus and Damon have single friends," she said encouragingly. "What about Kol? Oh, or Elijah! They were both at my birthday party!"
"Caroline Forbes you and I both know that she would not be down for that one bit," I said putting my hands on her shoulders and forcing her to look me in the eye. "Promise me you won't do it."
"Fine whatever," she relented pulling her phone out and smiling. "Klaus says he and Damon are waiting out by the bike sheds so we should go."
I nodded grabbing my duffle bag and followed her out towards the bike sheds. There were still a few stragglers left over from the game, but for the most part people had left. When I spotted Damon I couldn't help the wide grin that spread across my face and he returned it when we made eye contact.
"Hi," I said biting my lip shyly as I approached him and I watched him smirk before pulling me body towards his and wrapping his arms around me. I returned the hug and felt those damn butterflies start up again, although at this point they're more like flying saucers.
"It's so fucking good to see you," he whispered in my ear. There was no accurate way to describe what it feels like to be in Damon's arms, but for the first time in as long as I can remember I felt secure. It was as if in that moment my problems sort of just disappeared.
"We'll see you guys in a bit," I heard Caroline say but I was too lost in a haze of Damon to pay any attention to her.
"That was very impressive," he said smirking at me once we pulled away making my insides tingle. "It was all so rah rah go team."
"Thanks," I said rolling my eyes in amusement as we started walking along the sidewalk. "So where exactly is this party we're going to?"
"Edge of town," he shrugged guiding me around a corner. "It's the same place we hung out at a few months ago when Caroline met Klaus for their first date or whatever it was."
"Wait the one in the woods?" I asked worriedly. "People are still going out there after what happened?"
"Don't worry you'll be safe with me," he said looping our fingers together and smiling softly at me. "I won't take my eyes off you just call me your trusty body guard, besides most of the people that go to these things are pretty tough. If the new town lunatic were to show up and try anything he'd get his ass kicked. I thought you could use a little fun, just a night to let loose, take 5 minutes from your life."
"I could use a little fun," I said smiling back at him.
"Oh I noticed," he said wiggling his eyebrows and I slapped him playfully on the shoulder.
"You know I used to be quite the party girl," I bragged raising an eyebrow at him.
"Used to be huh?" He asked in a questionable tone. "So what turned you around?"
"Uh the accident I guess," I said nervously tucking aside a stray hair. "The night that our car went off the bridge I had been at a party and called my parents to come pick me up and before I knew it we were in the water. It kind of turned me off of the whole party scene for a while."
"We don't have to go tonight if you don't want to," he said anxiously.
"No no I want to go," I said squeezing his hand reassuringly. "I can't stay sad forever right? So no more sad talk, you said you wanted to introduce me to someone tonight do I at least get a hint?"
"Well it isn't necessarily someone it's more of something," he said smirking at me and pulling my hand so I would follow him.
"Now you've got me even more confused," I giggled trailing after him down the sidewalk. We stopped next to a light blue Camaro and he pulled the keys out of his pocket jiggling them in front of me.
"Elena I want you to meet my most prized possession," he said gesturing towards his car and I started laughing.
"So the special someone was your car?" I asked him amused and he shrugged innocently. "Well I'd shake it's hand but it doesn't have any," I said sarcastically.
"Did you just make fun of the Camaro," he asked with a pretend look of shock on his face as he pinned me against the side of the car. The close proximity of our bodies turned the environment from fun to steamy in a matter of seconds and I wonder how on earth it's possible to have this much chemistry with someone.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to make fun of it," I said with a mock pouty face. "It is pretty cool."
"Elena if you and I are going to have any semblance of a relationship you must get very well acquainted with her," he said leaning closer to me and I felt my heart stop. His lips were barely an inch from mine and I found myself incapable of looking away from them until he closed the distance and kissed me. It was soft, almost tender. I wrapped my arms around his neck and responded to it instantly. When he pulled away before either of us could deepen it I sighed in contentment. I could get used to this.
"We should get going," he said smiling down at me and I nodded. He opened the door for me before walking around to the driver's side and pulling away from the curb. We drove towards the edge of town in a comfortable silence, with nothing but the sound of the radio softly humming some old rock song. It was nice; I felt more at ease than I have for a long time. There's something about Damon that makes me feel so comfortable, and for the first time since my parent's death I feel truly and utterly happy. That has to mean something doesn't it?
DPOV
I kept Elena close by my side after we pulled up to the warehouse and made our way through the large crowd of people. I spotted Kol in a corner talking to someone and purposely steered Elena and I the opposite way because it looks like he's selling to whoever he's talking to. The last thing I want to do is get Elena even remotely involved in any of that, she'd run away from me faster than a panther if she knew about that side of my life anyways. I'm still on edge about all of this insane stuff going on with my dad, but tonight is about spending time with Elena. She is the light within the darkness of my life, when I'm with her nothing else exists.
"Finally you guys are here," Caroline said rushing towards us. "Elena come do a shot with me."
"Woah there Barbie slow down," I said rolling my eyes. "We've been here for 5 minutes."
"It's fine I'm here to let loose right," Elena grinned following Caroline and I smiled back at her as we walked towards the bar. Elena and Caroline started doing shots of tequila and I stuck with a beer since I was driving home. Klaus was distracted with Elijah and his latest lady drama.
"Salvatore is that you?" A female voice said from behind me. I turned around slightly puzzled until I realized it was Rose and my scowl turned to a smile.
"Rose it's good to see you," I said hugging her quickly. "Is Trevor here?"
"He's around here somewhere," she shrugged taking a sip from her drink. "He said that he told you about the engagement when you guys went out for drinks a while back. You better be planning on coming to my wedding."
"Of course I'm going you know I'm a sucker for weddings," I said sarcastically rolling my eyes and she playfully punched me in the arm.
"So is Katherine around tonight?" She asked in a slightly unimpressed tone. Rose has always made her feelings for Katherine very well known, and to put it kindly she hates the bitch. Yes, that's putting it kindly. She knows that we had a brief affair or whatever you want to call it and she gives me shit for it every time I see her. The two of them hate each other. Everyone who has had the honor of meeting Katherine hates her, even when we were fucking I didn't like her.
"I'm done with her," I said taking sip from my beer.
"Oh please you always say that," she scoffed.
"Actually I'm seeing someone," I boasted knowing that it would impress her. Rose is always giving me shit for never settling down, but up until now I'd never met a girl worth settling down with.
"I'll believe that when I see it," she smirked.
"Well prepare to be amazed," I said turning to where Elena and Caroline were standing near the bar with Klaus. "See the brunette," I said pointing at Elena proudly.
"She's pretty," Rose mused looking at me knowingly. "Totally out of your league though I don't believe it for a second."
"Wait here," I instructed her quickly walking back over to Elena and pulling her away from Caroline ignoring the blondes questioning glare.
"Where are you taking me Salvatore?" She asked giggling and I chuckled because she's obviously tipsy already.
"I'm going to introduce you to an actual person this time," I whispered in her ear and she smiled as she looped her arm through mine. "Rose meet Elena," I said once we'd made our way back to where I had previously been standing and she looked at me with an impressed nod.
"It's lovely to meet you Elena," Rose said shaking her hand.
"Nice to meet you too Rose," Elena said in an overly enthusiastic tone and I had to resist the urge to chuckle again at her drunkenness because Elena is never this outgoing. If I remember correctly she's normally pretty shy. Apparently tequila makes her friendly, I'll have to remember that for the future.
"Rose didn't believe me when I told her you were my date," I said with a mischievous grin and instead of blushing like I thought she would Elena started giggling.
"It's a high compliment Elena you're too pretty for this wanker," she said smugly and I scoffed at her.
"I don't know I think he's pretty good looking," Elena said running her fingers through my hair and giggling again and I wrapped my arm around her to keep her steady.
"You are drunk," I said chuckling as I looked down at her and she nodded with a giddy smile one her face.
"So you have to get them drunk to get a date huh?" Rose said teasingly and I glared at her again, which only made Elena laugh harder.
"Well I had been drinking that first night that I kissed you," Elena said teasingly.
"You weren't drunk all the other times," I said back at her and I smirked when I noticed her blush. I love making her blush, and while I can't believe I'm actually saying this; it's cute. Yes, Damon Salvatore just used the word cute, and I don't even care because this is Elena. She's different.
"Yeah well he may be a looker but he's a terrible time in the sack," Rose joked and I watched as Elena's eyes grew wide.
"Oh shutup," I rolled my eyes before turning to look at Elena. "She's just being annoying we never slept together she's been with her fiancé since preschool." I noticed her instantly relax and I glared at Rose who was way too amused with herself for my liking.
"So you're engaged?" Elena asked looking at Rose happily. "That must be exciting." I'll never understand what it is about girls and weddings, but for some reason they go together like cops and donuts.
"Yeah we've just barely started planning it," she said with a content smile. "Actually, I should try and find him we have to test cakes tomorrow morning and I have to make sure he's not drinking himself into a stupor. It was nice to meet you Elena."
"Nice to meet you too," Elena called out to her as she turned to walk way. "Damon Salvatore I didn't know you had any friends outside of Klaus, and what's with all these British people?"
"I have plenty of friends and I like to keep it classy," I said teasingly as I wrapped my arms around her. "How much have you had to drink?"
"I don't know a lot," she said biting her lip and I chuckled tucking aside a loose strand of her hair.
"Caroline is not a very good example is she?" I asked her playfully.
"If anyone's a bad example for me I think it's you," she laughed wrapping her arms around my neck and I shrugged innocently.
"Be sure to spread that around town I have a reputation to uphold," I told her teasingly and she giggled again before pressing our lips together in a kiss that ended all too quickly.
"Do you want to dance or something?" I asked her as I slowly trailed my hand down her back until my fingers came in contact with her bare skin just under the hem of her shirt. I felt her shiver under my touch and I had to resist the urge to smirk.
"I think I'd rather do something else," she whispered seductively and I was momentarily surprised by her boldness until she connected our lips again and all coherent thoughts went out the window. I moved my hands to cup her face and angle her head so I could deepen the kiss and my tongue demanded entrance to her mouth, which she granted me immediately. She moaned softly as our tongues collided and I felt a twitch down south from the sounds she was making. This girl has an effect on me like no one I've ever met before.
When breathing became a necessity we parted, resting our foreheads together and she giggled again. I'll have to encourage her to drink tequila more often because I've never seen her this free and happy before.
"Come on let's get some air," I said taking her hand in mine and guiding her outside. I just wanted to get her somewhere more private so we could continue where we left off without any interruptions.
When we got back to my car she looked at me under her thick lashes and bit her lip and I lost all self-control. I softly pushed her against the side of the vehicle, pinning her between the car and my body so she was flush against me.
"Do you have any idea what you do to me?" I whispered in her ear before pressing a trail of open-mouthed kisses down her neck. She threw her head back and moaned as I started sucking on a particularly sensitive spot on her neck and I tightened my grip on her hips as she ground herself against me.
She pulled my head up and pressed our lips together again sliding her tongue in my mouth to tangle with mine, her breasts pressed firmly against my chest. I didn't want to stop, I didn't ever want to stop fucking kissing her.
I ran my hands up the side of her body and slid them under her loose tank top to stroke her bare skin and she moaned into my mouth as one of my fingers stroked her lace-covered chest. Her skin was so smooth and all I could think about was how badly I wanted to taste it. I wanted to kiss and lick every inch of her, but there would be plenty of time for that in the future.
"God Elena you're killing me," I mumbled between kisses as I moved to kiss down her neck again and I squeezed one of her covered breasts in my hand while the other hand moved to stroke her inner thigh and she let out a breathy moan that definitely would've drawn attention to us if anyone was nearby.
"Damon please," she breathed pulling my lips back to hers and I nodded knowing exactly what she needed. I hurriedly reached into my pocket fumbling around for the keys to unlock the door and we both fell backwards into the backseat.
She grinned pushing me to sit up against the seat and I watched mesmerized as she straddled me. This was something out of a dream and I had to blink a couple times to make sure it was actually happening. She started kissing my neck and I officially decided that I could die right then and there having lived a fulfilled life because this was perfect.
As our mouths met and our tongues fought for dominance again she started rolling her hips against the sizable bulge that had developed in my jeans and whimpered against my lips. She was dry humping me like her life depended on it and I loved every second of it.
"Damon please," she whimpered repeating her earlier words and I nodded silently as my hands slipped down between our bodies. I tentatively undid the top button of her shorts and watched as her eyes went black with lust while I lowered the zipper and slipped my hand inside. She moaned softly as I ran my fingers along the lace of her underwear and I could feel the dampness seeping through the fabric.
I pushed the fabric to the side to slowly run a finger along her slit and she cried out biting my shoulder trying to keep quiet. She was soaking, and it was all because of me.
"You're so wet for me," I mumbled using my free hand to pull her head up so she would look at me. I moved my finger up to her sweet spot and started circling the little bundle of nerves watching as she gasped and squeezed her eyes shut lost in pleasure.
"Oh-oh my god," she keened leaning her head down so our foreheads were touching as I pressed my finger harder against her clit. Her reaction was so real. She wasn't over exaggerating or trying to prove a point, she was simply enjoying herself and I loved it.
"Do you need to come," I asked softly and she nodded as her hands moved to grip my shoulders and she rolled her hips against my hand. "If you thought this was good you ain't seen nothing yet," I whispered in her ear before plunging two fingers inside of her and she cried out before shouting a few obscenities that I definitely wasn't expecting from someone as sweet and innocent as her. Then again, she's sitting in my lap in the backseat of my car riding my fingers so she can't really be that innocent can she?
I moved my thumb up to press against her clit continuing the rhythm of my fingers thrusting in and out of her and used my free hand to guide her lips to mine. I could tell she was getting close by the way she shivered in my arms and whimpered against my mouth.
"Damon!" she gasped as I rotated my thumb against her clit harder trying to bring her to that release that I knew she needed. Some might say that there's nothing attractive about a desperate woman, but right now Elena's desperation is perhaps one of the hottest things I've ever seen.
"Come for me Elena," I whispered stroking her hair softly as I continued thrusting in and out of her until I felt her tighten around my fingers. She tossed her head back and moaned as her orgasm hit her and I watched completely mesmerized.
"Damon-oh God-Damon," she cried panting as she exploded around my fingers coming for what seemed like the first time. She collapsed into my lap breathing heavily and I smiled stroking my free hand through her long brown hair.
I swiftly pulled my fingers out of her and she whimpered softly as I made a show of licking them clean. She tasted heavenly and I couldn't wait to get the chance to really taste her. All in good time I suppose.
"That was amazing," she breathed resting her head against my chest tiredly. It was safe to say that I had successfully sated her and I couldn't help but feel a little bit of pride. I looked down at her and felt something flutter inside of me…oh God…butterflies? Elena Gilbert has given me butterflies. Oh, if the guys could see me now.
I refocused my attention back on her when I heard her let out a satisfied sigh before looking up at me to gaze into my eyes. She was hauntingly beautiful.
"You're gorgeous you know that?" I said softly grazing my fingers along her cheek.
"Stop it," she blushed looking down and I smirked at her modesty.
"No I'm serious," I said tilting her chin up so she would look at me. "Thank you for giving me a chance," I reached down to zip her shorts back up and she smiled softly at me.
"Shouldn't I be the one thanking you," she pointed out as her face contorted into a smirk and I chuckled before pulling her back in to kiss me again. This girl really will be the death of me, and I am completely okay with that.
So there you have it! I hope you all enjoyed it. Please leave me a review they really do make the writing process a lot easier! Until next time :)
