Chapter 10: The Beginning to the End
Odd watched over his squad as they ran drills on Lyoko, they had spent the last two weeks sparring and training in a virtual simulation of the surrounding area that Jeremie and the AI's created. They had progressed quickly but Odd wasn't sure it was enough for them to defeat Chaos when he returns. He had gone on a spree killing the scientists that created his prison and the remaining ones were under protection by their respective nations, but Chaos had already managed to kill a group of Swiss scientists in a lab hidden under the Alps. He was just a few scientists away from completing his vengeance and then his gaze will turn towards him and the other warriors. They needed to be ready if they were going to have any shot against Chaos. Odd's phone buzzed and he checked it and it was a message from Jeremie, "Meeting at 1500 in the CC".
Later in the Command Center
Jeremie had called all the here to discuss the progress of their recruits. "They're not ready" yelled Yumi as Jeremie discussed their eventual battle plans. "Yumi, please let Jeremie finish before you express your opinion" said Aelita. "But even you know that if we send them out there they'll just get in the way or get themselves or others killed, we can handle this ourselves we don't need them; just make them evacuate with the others we Chaos shows up" replied Yumi. "Yumi, you need to calm down" said Ulrich as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "No, I seem to be the only sane person her. You all are delusional if you think this is going to end well, because it won't; we'll be lucky if half of us don't die" yelled Yumi. Everyone looked down at her statement. "I think we should take a break and turn in for the night; maybe we will have level heads in the morning" explained Jeremie and he swiveled back towards the super computer terminal. Everyone nodded and headed off back to the school dorms.
Morning 4:00 am
Odd was in bed with Sam when someone came knocking on the door. He slide away from Sam and went to the door and opened it. He saw Millie out of breath, "The Red Sun rises" said Millie before darting off to the next room. Odd shook his head at the code phrase Jeremie had come up with and ran back to Sam and woke her up. They got dressed and ran outside and saw everyone was gathered around the vending machines. Jeremie was standing on a bench talking, "We just got a warning that Chaos and his goons have chartered a fleet of cargo planes to Paris. He'll be landing in 2 hours. We have to be prepared; he's probably amassed plenty of forces as well as armor and artillery. Not to mention he could hack the military network of France and steal some of their weapons. Everyone to the Factory "commanded Jeremie. Everyone marched to the factory and entered into the training facility. Jeremie palmed a new keypad and it opened a wall that was lined with suits of combat armor and gear. Everyone was dressed and moved into the command center. Jeremie pulled up the holomap of the area. "Chaos is supposed to arrive any minute now", suddenly the holomap picked up a projectile flying towards the airport, and it went through the control tower and hit the terminal blowing it to pieces. Seven cargo ships landed right after another. Soon masked men with guns came marching out of them, along with Jeeps with turrets and even a tank came out. Chaos had brought a whole army. Jeremie quickly typed on the computer and soon sirens were going off across the city. "Everyone should be evacuating from here to the outer parts of the city so causalities will be low. The troops are marching from the west. I'm deploying the Pylons." A low hum pierced the air as the pylons stationed around the court came to life. As quick glance of energy pierced the air and then settled. "Pylons are at 100% and holding" confirmed Aelita. Ulrich, I'm sending you and your squad out for some recon" ordered Jeremie. Ulrich nodded and called his group up and they headed down to the large scanners below. Jeremie transported them out to a receiver. Everything was dead silent until Ulrich came over the radio. "Jeremie you're a genius this will definitely give us an advantage. I'm sending Milly and Tamiya ahead to scout out the number of soldiers." announced Ulrich. A few minutes passed with relative quiet when gunfire erupted from below Ulrich, he grabbed his scope and zoomed in on the commotion. He saw Milly and Tamiya running like the devil was behind them as a group of soldiers chased after them. They ducked into an alley and Ulrich and the rest of his group gave them some covering fire while they tried to climb a fire escape and return to the group. The ladder was stuck, so Ulrich climbed down the fire escape and reached out his hand, Tamiya jumped and grabbed hold of it and he quickly pulled her up. He reached again for Milly when the men came around the corner, just as Milly grabbed his hand; Milly was shot in the back and went limp. Ulrich pulled her up and through a flash bang and carried her up the fire escape. Once back on the roof, they called for a rescue and Jeremie retrieved them from their location. Medical robots were waiting for Milly as she came out of the scanner; they rushed her away to their makeshift infirmary to stem the bleeding.
"So they had about 500 in total; 200 men with semi-automatic rifles and another 20 with either snipers or heavy artillery. The rest were operating their equipment and driving the vehicles. We got as close as we could without being detected when Milly noticed some men guarding a large warehouse, Milly wanted a closer look and before I could stop her she was slipping into the building and it wasn't long before she was being chased by those goons you saw earlier." reported Tamiya. Jeremie had a calculating look on his face, "We need to find out what's in that building, I'm sending in Yumi, Odd and Sam's squad while Ulrich provides Over Watch. Aelita can you take care of Milly and Tamiya, they did well and deserve a break", Aelita nodded and led Tamiya to the Infirmary. Jeremie moved his chair in front of the console and opened the scanners and programmed the coordinates. "I'm going to be putting you down almost right outside the encampment everyone so be ready for action on the other side. I'm authorizing use of the prototype blasters, and the Leaders will use their Seals, no matter what we need to get into that warehouse". Everyone nodded and got prepared. They were ready and at the scanners in under 45 mins. "Everyone lock and load," said Jeremie as he pressed the key to start the transfer.
Because there were so many people there was a slight lag in transfer, when Odd dropped the groups were already bunkered down exchanging fire with the enemy. They had managed to surprise them and disable some of the armor; but after the shock wore off the put up a good resistance. Odd felt deep within him and opened his Seal and transformed into his Lyoko Avatar, he let lose a stream of fire from his gauntlets that drove the enemy back. Odd looked to the riverbank and saw Sam using her Seal for the first time; she had a trident and was shooting high-pressure shots of water blasting holes into concrete. She had the men scattering for their lives. Odd charged the nearest person and speared him with his claws and threw him. It was an even battle until the snipers started laying into them. Herb was the first one to take a bullet to the chest and it was a brief pause as everyone watched the lights leave his eyes. The Warriors rallied the troops before panic and despair set in. They formed against some burnt wreckage and called in Ulrich to take care of the snipers. The kept pushing forward but every push brought about another casualty by the time they had the enemy soldiers pinned against the walls of the warehouse they had lost half their forces with 4 more deaths. Odd ordered everyone else to retreat to back while he and the other warriors took care of the remaining enemy. Eventually they closed the doors on the group and barricaded themselves inside. Odd radioed Jeremie, "Hey Jeremie you got anything that can blast through some solid steel doors". "One thermite bomb coming right up" responded Jeremie. Slowly large drums appeared around the front of the warehouse. Odd took a step back and fired at the fuse and hightailed behind cover. A momentary silence was broken by a massive eruption of heat followed by shards of shrapnel landing around them. Odd peeked out to see a massive hole in the doors as well as many bodies blazing. Odd and everyone proceeded forward cautiously.
Infirmary
Milly was lying face down on a bed, her torso wrapped in bandages. Tamiya and Aelita were by her side. Milly gained a slight consciousness. "Milly, you're ok" yelled an ecstatic Tamiya. Aelita stroked her hair and soothed and kept her calm. "Do you remember anything from when you went inside"? Milly's voiced cracked and she uttered, "It's a gate".
Battlefield
Odd stepped inside the walls, and standing in front of him was a portal whose surface shimmered like silver. He and the other Warriors approached while the others stayed outside. As they got closer, the surface of the portal wavered and out stepped Chaos in all his foul glory. On his heels, were monsters, XANA's monsters, "What a joyous occasion, I get to collect my army and kill the stupid vermin that have been a nuisance this whole time. It must be my lucky day".
WOW, I have to apologize for not updating this in over a year; time just gets away from me. Plz Read and Review, makes me want to finish this quicker.
