We're getting back into school in the story and in my life. I have only about 10 days left (Sobbing internally). I should have no problem posting for the first 1-2 possibly 3 weeks, but I'm not sure if 2-7 day posts will be as frequent. I'll post whenever possible. I usually have five hours when I get home with how far I live, and I'll spend 2-3 possibly 4 hours on homework, dinner, and a shower.
Let me now what you think!
The songs once again aren't mine, they belong to the rightful artists and companies.
Enjoy~
Jean's POV
The shrill sound of Marco's alarm wasn't pleasant at all. I would've thrown the damn thing across the room if it weren't Marco's arms entrapping my entire body including my own arms. Marco shifted a bit and opened his eyes. He smiled at me sleepily before reaching over me and turning the alarm off. He stretched, and I swear every bone in his body popped and cracked. I followed his moves in a much quieter display.
"You can take what you want from my closet, I'm gonna go make everyone breakfast," Marco said after an impressive yawn. I think I groaned in acknowledgement, but it may not have even come out as anything. He left either way. I opened his closet and pulled out a pair of black not really skinny jeans, but they were almost there. They were in the very back because Marco must've grown out of them and forgot they were there. I opened a few drawers, careful and reluctant because who knows what you'll find in any teenage boy's dresser. Luckily Marco seemed clean and innocent in every single manner of the words. I found a smaller red shirt the said 'LOVER BECAUSE I'M A FIGHTER' in black scratchy words. I threw the outfit on and slouched downstairs.
"Maco, Ben said that I wasn't really a princess," I heard what must have been Marie's voice.
"Well, you're my princess," Was his response.
"Are you Jean's?" I heard the little voice right before I took the step that would make me visible in the doorway.
"W-what!?" Marco sounded flustered.
"Well, when I get a boyfriend when I'm older and their not all sticky and gross, I want to be their princess. I want to be like an Aphrodite and Athena mixed together to them!" The girl exclaimed.
"Well, at least you've been listening when I teach you random stuff," Marco sighed. I still couldn't get over that his five year old sister WAS interested in boys, she just understood that at her age, they all sucked for relationships.
"Princess? No. Prince? I could work with," I announced as I walked into the kitchen, still partially asleep.
"Then, do you think that I could be your princess?" Marie looked up at me with big eyes. Damn this kid was cute.
"I thought that you were Marco's," I ungracefully put my hand on her head.
"A princess isn't a princess with one subject!" She argued.
"Then I guess that leaves me no choice, your Highness," I gave Marie an exaggerated bow that practically made her glow. I miss being at the age when getting up at five never really effected you.
"I'm making rice and milk, is that ok?" Marco asked me.
"Yeah, I've never had it," I went over to him and looked into the big pot. There was only rice in it.
"You just put rice in a bowl of milk with sugar," He informed me.
"Sounds delicious," I whispered as I slumped my entire body into his shoulder. He did a nice job of holding me up, I've gotta say.
"Alright, Sleeping Beauty, stir the rice while I get dressed," Marco lightly placed me off of his body.
"Please don't make that a thing. That's the second or third time you've called me that," I whined
"Just stir the rice," Marco laughed, turning the corner and running upstairs. Now it was just Marie and I. Alone...
"So, Jean?" Marie started, adding emphasis to the Je in my name, after Marco's footsteps had disappeared up the stairs. "Are you gay or be?"
"Be?" I questioned.
"Yeah, when you like both boys and girls," She explained. I almost corrected her on be actually being bi, but decided against it.
"I'm bi," I tried keeping a straight face, but failed miserably.
"Maco's gay. I'm not. Do you maybe think that if things don't work out for you two that maybe you'll wait for me?" She gave me her biggest, most adorable eyes.
"Uh, I think things will work out," I didn't want to crush the kid, but I needed to kill that hope fast.
"Ok," She looked down at the table. Great, I made her sad.
"Back," Marco walked back into the kitchen with black converse, red jeans, a grey Aerosmith band shirt, a black open jacket, and a grey beanie. "Marie, breakfast is almost done, tell everyone that they better get down here dressed and almost ready to go. You get dressed to."
Not a few minutes after Marie was given her mission was it complete. Ben and Mathis came down first. I think Mathis was wearing a red shirt with a black stripe and Ben was wearing a black shirt with a red stripe. Dakota was next in a plain navy-blue shirt and a jean jacket. Angeline came down after, with a purple stripped shirt and black leggings. Everyone was sitting or standing the extremely crowded kitchen for a few more minutes before Maci and Marie came down. Marie had on a flow-y white, string tied shirt and black leggings, while Marie had a blue shirt with a crown on it.
"Angeline, you left without your bow," Marci put a small headband with a purple bow attached onto her little sister's head.
Breakfast went by smoothly. Marco's mom had left about half an hour before we got up and his dad left about an hour before her. His mom sorted important files in the morning for some big company, then worked at a hospital in the afternoon and into the night as a nurse. His dad sold insurance in the afternoon and night, but in the mornings he worked for some store as a stock management or keeper or something according to Dakota. Angeline told everyone about her dreams where she flew on Pandas and dropped her twin brothers off of the sugar tower. That was interesting.
"Everyone brush their teeth and do everything you need to do to get ready! We're leaving in 10-15 minutes!" Marco announced as he cleaned up the mess breakfast had made.
I helped him, then we finished getting ready, and Marci took the two girls, the twins, and Dakota to school at the Pre-School and Kindergarten and Middle school before heading to the high school, while Marco walked. I was going to change that. We lived pretty much opposite the school and I have my license, but I usually walk so that I don't have to find a parking space. I'd also have to drive past the school, then back to it, but I wasn't letting Marco walk alone. I usually walked with Connie and Sasha, but I'm sure they won't mind the time alone, or at least Connie won't.
The rest of the short week at school went well. Marco and I presented our project early, got a 98% (due to Marco's genius), and everything went smoothly. When the weekend hit, on Saturday, I called Connie without Marco knowing and made plans to stay with him. I dropped by my house when I knew my dad wasn't home and took as much of my crap as I could before heading back to Marco's to say goodbye. Marco understood and easily said goodbye as long as I promised to come over often. Marie took it hard and actually cried. Sarah and Greg told me to come back anytime and to call them first if I needed anything at all. I hated leaving, but I felt like a welcomed leech. They did love me, but I felt bad. So naturally I went to me leech buddy. He ate my lunch at school and stole some shirts, I mildly raided his fridge when Sasha hadn't. However, as I was staying there, I kept the raiding to a minimum.
The next few weeks went by fine also. Marco and I kept a steady relationship, since we kind of jumped into one, we took it slow from where we started. Ymir would talk Mrs. Gonzales into letting her, Krista, Marco and I do two pair work as a group. I started talking to Armin, Reiner, and Bertholdt more in Math. Armin and I got way closer than I'd imagined. He was actually pretty cool and relaxed. Connie, Sasha, and I had a new fire to our friendship. It was like fucking 4th grade again! We joked around and picked on each other in the best of ways. Those two were my closets friends if Marco counts then those three. Armin wasn't quite out of the running anymore. He'd really helped bring my grade up. Marco tried to but we'd always get distracted and mess around or kiss more than study or work.
I did avoid Jaeger at all costs now. I couldn't mess this up. I didn't talk to Eren, I didn't talk about Eren, I didn't sit near Eren. We did get into a few unnoticed arguments that were nothing major, thankfully. Mikasa noticed my new behavior though and talked to me about it once.
"Jean, did something happen?" She had pulled me over after school.
"No, why?" I was pretty shocked that she even acknowledged my existence let alone my behavior.
"You've been acting strange. Not in a bad way, but different than usual," She looked uncertain of what she was saying.
"Well, don't worry, I'm still the cold, sarcastic, dick-wad, ass-hole I've always been," I reassured her.
"Do you sill hold anything against Eren?" She asked quietly.
"Honestly I don't think I ever did. I was angry at everyone and they all rejected my apology except for Connie and Sasha who slowly forgave me. No one was really comfortable around me, and Eren just pointed it out. He pissed me off, yeah. He always will, but I did something awful that everyone was against me for. I wasn't going to expect everyone to suddenly forgive me, so I guess I never tried until Marco helped me. But again, don't worry, I'm no damn poster child," I smirked.
"I was and will never be worried about that," She gave a small smirk and left then, confidence and fury in her wake. She was sexy, but I preferred freckles over flawless skin.
Marco had showed up then and asked what that was about, and I didn't give him a straight answer. He was irritated, but smiling with me, not against me.
It's been 1 1/2 month since I moved out of Marco's house. Almost 2 months that we'd been together. 1 week until AirBall sign-ups. Marco definitely wanted to join, along with everyone in our 'group'. Hanji, Erwin, Levi, and Mike made sure their schedule was very flexible with college and everything so that they could clear space every week for practice. This season was finally looking up.
Marco's sister Angeline really stuck with my name being Cookie Monster, I now call Marco's mom Mom and his dad Dad. Marie still has a huge-secret-(not so secret) crush on me. Dakota and I got some bonding trash talk in here and there, while Ben and Mathis enjoyed pranking me and Marco, or interrupting some pretty epic make-outs and kisses.
It's been almost two months since I'd been as welcome as I would ever be at home. More like tolerated at home. I was loving it. I was a natural sarcastic dick, but my dad didn't help that either.
I sat on Marco's doorstep waiting for what his mom had told me was a walk with Armin. She had asked me to come inside multiple times because it was cold, as it was getting closer to Winter. I'd insisted on waiting outside for him, even though my bandaged left ear was beginning to ache with the cold. The nurse had said that it wasn't really 'serious' but that it was going to be hard to heal and that it'll take a while and hurt a lot. (What's considered serious there?) Marie had come out to sit with me for about five minutes before declaring it to be too cold for a princess. That only got the recently overplayed song A-Team by whoever stuck in my head with "It's too cold outside, for angels to fly".
After twenty minutes of waiting and an aching ear, two figures -one extremely bigger than the other- came into view. I stayed where I was and tried to relax and stay calm. I could now make out their faces, Armin was laughing at something Marco had said, Marco noticed me after a moment. He told Armin something and jogged the rest of the way to the step I was sitting on. It was quite a show to watch Armin follow in his large jacket that was obviously Eren's.
"Jean, did something happen?" He looked worried, and I felt bad. I should've called him and gave him a heads up that I'd be waiting by his front door for his return.
"Yeah, everything's fine. Come here," I pulled him to the side, so that Armin knew that when he finally made it to let us talk alone. "Listen, I need you to keep the Saturday three weeks from now open. At all costs."
"Why?" He looked very relived.
"Because I asked," I reasoned.
"Fine, whatever, now lets get inside, you look frozen," Marco took my hand and motioned for Armin to follow. Once we were inside we took off our jackets and kicked our shoes off, or in Armin's case politely slipped them off and placed them out of the way, practically out of view.
"Hey, Jean. How's your ear?" Armin asked. Again.
"Just like it was earlier today, yesterday, and the day before, only cold," Armin had asked that question almost every time I'd seen him.
"I'll get us all something hot to drink. What do you guys want?" Marco pulled out some blankets.
"I'd like tea. Do you need help?" Armin offered.
"Thank you, but I've got it, what about you Jean?" Marco smiled.
"I'm getting coffee, and yeah you've got it, but we're still helping," I decided and got off the couch, followed by Armin.
"I love how you turn the most innocent comment into something suggestive or a pick-up line," Armin mused as we entered the kitchen.
"So that's one tea, one coffee, and one hot chocolate. I'll put a lot of water in the tea kettle and get it started," Marco told himself.
"You could sing while you do that. I'm sure Jean has a lovely voice~" Marie was standing in the doorway to the kitchen. Funny, I was usually in the doorway.
"I've never heard Jean sing," Armin was only encouraging the girl.
"Neither have I," OK, now Marco knows what he's doing.
"You want me to?" I wasn't going to fight it.
"Yes!" Was my chorus of a response.
"What should I sing?" I questioned.
"Whatever you'd like!" Marie cooed anxiously. I really didn't want to do this, but I wanted the begging me to do it even less.
"Uh, ok..." Here we go...
'It kills me not to know this,
but I've all but just forgotten
what the color of her eyes were
her scars or how she got them.
As the telling signs of age rains down
a single tear is dropping
thorough a valley of an aging face that this world has forgotten.
There is no reconciliation
that'll put me in my place.
And there is no time like the present
to drink these draining seconds-'
"Tsooooooooooooooooooooooo"
Marco quickly took the kettle off of the burner. He looked at me with wide eyes and a look of awe matching Armin's and Marie's.
"What was that?" Marie asked breathily.
"Uh, Savior by Rise Against..." I was uncomfortable now and regret my life decisions.
"That was incredible, I never knew you could sing so well!" Marco hugged me.
"Yeah, you should enter the talent show," Armin agreed.
"I think I'll pass," I laughed. It felt awesome to have everyone talking about how nice my voice was. I'd have to sing to Marco more often. Maybe I'd be able to get him to finish his 'Sugar we're going down swinging' by Fallout Boy from a few weeks ago.
We all got our drinks and Marco got Marie to go upstairs and we watched horror movies until his mom yelled at us about the possibility of a younger one wondering into the living room. We moved upstairs and spent another hour watching cartoons on Marco's laptop until Armin had to go home and Connie called asking where I was. We all said our goodbyes, but while everyone else went home and got ready for school and bed, I planned for the Saturday three weeks from now.
