A/N: so here is chapter number ten! This one is a slower chapter, as it is good to take a break from the action that was the last few chapters, but the madness shall continue on and so shall the action, but its a much simpler fight. hopefully you'll all like it! but first special thanks to everyone who has been reading and reviewing up this point! i'm trying hard not to disappoint! And another special thanks to my friend/co writer for this story! you know who you are! now we can finally continue to the story!

After I continue with saying that I don't own RWBY

It has been a long and eventful day for the newly formed team NOCT but there was one more challenge they had to complete, one more obstacle to overcome...bed arrangements

"Hmmm how should we do this?" Nero asked out loud scratching his head. The room was fairly large and empty the only thing in the room was the window showing a full moon and the city of vale below. after some trial and error they finally agreed on the formation Nero's bed was on the wall to the left, Cecilia and Orin's beds where near the window and Trevas bed mirrors Nero's position on the right side of the wall. There was a big enough gap in between Cecilia and Orin's beds to have all of their desks in between them, with Cecilia's and Orin's right under the window.

"Whew that's all finished" Orin said exhausted Nero was absolutely drained, he fell on his bed not even changing his clothes and close his eyes. Suddenly the alarm went off and Nero's eyes shot open

"Ngh, morning already?" Nero complained as everyone was getting ready.

"Hey Nero check it out!" Trevas said excited Nero finally got up and looked at everyone in there beacon uniforms "I look pretty classy huh?" Trevas said proudly as he started to pose as if there was a mirror in front of him

"Get up and get ready Nero" Cecilia instructed

"Heh yeah your our leader now, you gotta be the an example to us all and right now oversleeping is a good thing judging from your actions " Trevas teased. It was only 8:00 and NOCT's first class together was with the rather eccentric Dr. Oobleck. Oobleck was a messy individual, his desk was littered with piles of paper and he was just as messy. Oobleck had messy dark green hair that was poorly swept back, his wore a white shirt that was poorly tucked into his pants and he wore a brown shoe and a black shoe. Oobleck took another sip from his mug as he practically glided across the floor zooming past students, and papers as he scribbled on the blackboard

"In this class we'll be learning everything from the earliest kingdoms in the continent to the discovery of dust to the Great War and finally to the Faunus rebellion..." Oobleck explained as fast as he 'walked' Orin tried to copy everything Oobleck was saying

"Hmm kingdoms..Grimm...wars..." soon Orin was lost trying to remember what he said next

"Aww man what?" Orin said shaking his head in frustration. Cecilia was copying only what she deemed the most important parts of the lecture while Trevas didn't copy anything at all he was too busy looking at some girls across the room. Nero also didn't do anything he was too tired to think and with a blank face he stared off into the distance. Saying it was hard to understand Oobleck was an understatement for Nero. Oobleck was full of energy as Nero was running on fumes; Nero couldn't understand a word coming from Oobleck as if he was in another plane of existence.

"Remember dear students, history is important! If you can't learn from it...you're destined to repeat it." Oobleck explained as he continued his lecture when suddenly everyone heard a loud slam they all turned to the point of origin, Nero with his head down fast asleep probably making a dent where his head rested. "people like Mr. Nachtamar are destined to repeat history….In the worst ways possible..." professor Oobleck said shaking his head in disappointed, Orin turned his head away embarrassed, Trevas chuckled, and Cecilia rolled her eyes and continued to copy the notes on the blackboard. Once class with Dr. Oobleck was over, Nero and Cecilia had a class with Professor Port, while Trevas and Orin had a different class. this class went a little better for Nero as he actually got some sleep while in his previous class, which his partner was not happy about

"You seem mad, wanna tell me why your mad?" Nero asked Cecilia as they sat, waiting for class to start

"Because as our leader you should actually be trying, not falling asleep like that in the first class on the first day"

"i know but-" he started as he was quickly shushed by his partner who noticed the teacher walk into the room. a heavyset man with grey hair and a matching mustache which was large enough to cover his mouth, he was wearing a burgundy suit with gold trim. he quickly set up diagrams of various Grimm, which included a Beowolf, Nervermore, King Taijitu, Boarbatusk, Ursa and a Deathstalker. once finished he turned to address the class

"monsters! Deeeemons...Prowlers of the night! yes the creatures of Grimm go by many names, but i merely refer to them as prey! ha-ha!" the teacher began

"Lame" Nero said out loud, causing his partner to hit him with her elbow

"Uhhh and you shall too! Upon your graduation from this prestigious academy! Vale, as well as the other three kingdoms, are safe havens in this otherwise treacherous world! our planet is absolutely teeming with creatures that would love nothing more than to tear us all to pieces! and thats where we come in as huntsmen! huntresses" he said while somehow giving a wink to a student with a closed eye "Individuals who have sworn to protect those who cannot protect themselves! From what you may ask? the very world!" he finished and nero actually started to become interested

"That is what you are training to become! but first, a story, a tale of a young handsome man...me! when i was a boy.." he said before going into a boring story that caused Nero to lose any and all interest he previously had was now lost as he started daydreaming, only to be brought snapped out of it when Cecilia had hit him with her elbow again

"oh come on he isn't even saying anything important" Nero said in a whisper

"that may be so but you still need to pay attention" she told him as port continued on with his story

"its hard when he talks about nothing!"

"it doesn't matter, as a student you need to pay attention"

"with the way he is how can you even pay attention?"

"because i have focus, something you may not have seeing as you can't pay attention"

"wh-yes i do!" Nero said a little louder than intended

"GOOD!" they both heard Professor port say, causing them to look at him "then step down and we shall find out" he finished while looking at Nero, a cage next to him

"Um me?" Nero asked pointing to himself

"of course! now come and face your opponent!"

"OK then..." he said uncertainly as Cecilia watched him leave to change into his combat attire. once finished he stepped in front of the class with his sword drawn

"now let's see of you do have any real focus" Cecilia thought to herself as port stepped next the cage

"and now to let the match..." Port began as he raised a blunderbuss with ax blades "BEGIN!" he finished as he brought it down on the lock of the cage, releasing a boarbatusk, which immediately shot out and rammed Nero, who brought up his blade just in time to block it, the powerful tusks grinding on the red metal of his sword

"I use these fun little creatures to test the mettle of the new students" Port said to the class as Nero spun out of the way of another charge, slashing the side of it as it ran by, doing little damage thanks to its armor

"Ah yes! The armor of these guys makes then quite durable" Port informed the class as it started to roll at Nero at a high speed, catching him off guard and knocking him to the ground, quickly turning around and hitting him again as he got up

"enough of this" Nero said to himself and activated the dust withing his blade. it now had ice blue veins going along the blade, and he touched the tip to the ground, creating a ramp out of ice that the boarbatusk launched from, before it landed however, Nero had predicted the spot and sent a wave of ice to it as it landed, thus trapping the beast on its back as its legs flailed around uselessly in the air. its armored belly now exposed as Nero quickly walked up to it, raised his sword and cut its head off in a single strong slice

"EXCELLENT!" Port said as Nero put away his sword "What a way to turn that around! you sir have the makings of a true hunter-in-training!" he appraised Nero "sadly that covers all the time we have for today. be sure to do the assigned reading!" he said dismissing the students as Nero left the room

"Hmm" Cecilia thought to herself as she gathered her stuff and went towards the exit, only to see Nero leaning on the wall next to the entrance

"That was quite a show you put on there" she said to him as they began walking down the hall to meet up with their teamates

"Yeah well i wanted to prove to you i had focus...did i?" he asked her

"Lets just say your changing my initial opinion of you" she answered

"In a good or bad way?" he asked

"That remains to be seen" at this he let out a chuckle as they met with their teammates and they all told each other about their first day as they returned to their dorm room, but before they did, they suddenly ran into team CADN who just left their room

"Greetings!" Ciro was waving happily towards NOCT

"We're going into the city for some lunch wanna tag along" Nerva offered

"Sure let's go!" Orin said excited

"give me a second to change out of my uniform" Cecilia said

"I dunno..." Nero complained causing his entire team to glare at him

"Come on let's get to know each other better!" Morrigan cheerfully said grabbing Nero by the collar and dragging him, and before they even made it out of the initial hall Cecilia was dressed and had caught up to them with impressive speed

"Oh man..." Nero thought to himself as he was being dragged

Team NOCT and CADN where at one of the many cafe's found in the city of vale all eight of them sitting at a table figuring out what to order.

"Hmm should I get a salad? I wanna eat something light" Orin asked

"A salad? You're a guy! You're not supposed to eat salads! You gotta eat something loaded with proteins! Otherwise you'll stay small for the rest of your life! WAITER! Get two of your biggest steaks!" Nerva demanded

"Oh boy..." Orin said nervously

"Actually a salad sounds nice..." Diana said giving the waiter her menu and opened her sketch pad drawing something.

"Sir what's a Stromboli?" Ciro asked the waiter "is it like a calzone? And what's a calzone?" Ciro continued

"Uh..well sir.." the waiter began It took around 10 minutes for Ciro to understand the difference between Stromboli and calzones and in the end Ciro decided to have both. Everyone was just about finished ordering when it was Cecilia's turn

"I want a burger, rare" Cecilia asked casually

"Rare? Umm yeah okay I think we can do that" the waiter said uncertain

"Rare?" the waiter asked again

"So rare you can still hear the cow moo" Cecilia said in a serious voice

"Right I'll get that." the waiter stammered as he rushed back to the kitchen. Cecilia turned back to the group; everyone had a surprise look on their faces "what? I like my meat raw." she tried to justify herself. Morrigan snickered at Cecilia's response

"In that case you have plenty of raw meat in your te..." Morrigan began as Diana smacked the back of her head "OW that hurts" Morrigan complained. Diana said nothing except flip the page a draw something new.

"I've been meaning to ask but why did professor Ozpin name your team CADN?" Nero asked

"Well we overheard our original name being condemn" Ciro began

"but our original acronym, CNDM would have looked like condom" Nerva explained

"And Morrigan yelling condom jokes into the office didn't help" Diana finished looking up from her sketch pad towards Morrigan

"What? I just had to do it!" Morrigan said acting innocent.

"What does CADN even mean anyway?" Nero asked

"it can mean either a modulation or inflection of the voice, or a sequence of notes or cords comprising the end close of a musical phrase" Diana quickly explained The food still hasn't come and it was starting to get awkward just sitting there.

"So...what are you drawing there Diana?" Orin asked trying to stir up a conversation, Diana simply showed everyone the drawing of a girl eating 'raw meat' causing Cecilia to blush, regretting what she said earlier.

"Wow..." Orin said looking the other way

"Does she always draw stuff like this?" Trevas asked not taking his eyes off the drawing

"Yup, a couple days ago when Nero bumped into Cecilia on the airship Diana drew..." Morrigan began as Nero interrupted

"T they don't need to know what the drawing was! Man what's with the food?" Nero said trying to change the subject.

"It wasn't you two in the drawing! So it makes it alright to tell." Morrigan explained capturing the curiosity of the others as the food finally came, Cecilia quickly inspected the burger

"Tch well done" Cecilia said aloud

"Does this always happen?" Nero asked

"Sometimes, I think there just scared I'm gonna get food poisoning and blame them" Cecilia said annoyed

"Come on Orin eat up!" Nerva said patting him on the back. Orin looked at the plate the steak was as long as his arm" this isn't gonna end well.." Orin whimpered as he began to take his first bite. It took a while but Orin defeated the steak and the bill had shown up

"Okay who's paying?" Morrigan asked

"Wait a sec..You invited us..." Trevas responded

"And Ciro offered lunch..." Nerva continued everyone looked at Ciro still eating his calzone

"Hmm?" he looked confused as everyone realized they had to chip in

"It's probably better this way" Cecilia said hoping to find some lien in her pockets. Luckily they all had enough to cover their meal and tip the waiter (although Cecilia didn't add to the tip because of her burger) and they all left the café with full stomachs…..or in the case of Orin, too full

"You ok Orin?" Nero asked as all eight of them walked the streets of vale

"Yeah I'm fine, just a little*burp* full from the steak" he said as he walked, holding his stomach

"I'm honestly surprised someone as small as you was able to eat that whole thing" Trevas commented

"What do you mean small!? I'm only *burp* I'm 5'3!" he said, a little offended

"Yeah and that's small" Trevas teased

"Well I'm sure what Orin lacks in height he makes up for in inches" Morrigan said while looking at him

"What do you mean by inches?" Orin asked as he finally stopped burping

"I obviously mean your-"

"Morrigan!" Diana sternly said, stopping her friend from finishing that sentence

"Ok before this gets any dirtier" Nero started as they reached the airships "I was curious about something, you mind if I ask you a question Cecilia?"

"Fine" she said while walking aboard the ship

"Why do you like rare meat so much? You seemed pretty upset when you found the burger was well done" he asked

"Well I'm sure you've all noticed these ears on my head" she started as they all sat down

"Kinda hard not to" Nerva commented

"They look soft" Ciro said, reaching a hand for them, which was quickly swatted away

"Yes well, most Faunus have some attributes from the animals whose parts they have. A bull or ram Faunus can have stronger than normal skulls. And the same can go for taste and other preferences. I can digest rarer meats much easier than humans and it tastes very well to me, it's also easier to chew thanks to these" she explained as she opened her mouth, showing everyone her much sharper than normal canines

"Whoa, those look-"Nero started

"Deadly?" Cecilia finished "they are. And my biting strength is also very strong" she said

"Have you ever used it in a fight?" Nerva asked

"Just once, a Beowolf had me pinned down and I could barely stop it from biting down on my throat, so in a sudden burst of strength I was able to move its head and bite down on its throat instead, it was hard but I was able to rip it out. It was disgusting though"

"Holy shit that's hardcore" Morrigan said in awe

"Damn I'm impressed" Trevas said

"I've seen a lot of things, but that's…wow" Nerva said

"Oh my" Orin said

"Not bad" Diana commented, in the middle of finishing a drawing

"Glad you're on my side" Nero said

"I'm hungry" Ciro said to no one in particular, causing everyone to look at him like he was crazy

"…..ignoring that" Morrigan said as she turned to look back at team NOCT "so how was moving in for you guys?" she asked

"It wasn't that bad, between Orin's tools, Trevas' random crap, Cecilia's arrow parts and my stuff, we managed to get things settled in well" Nero told them

"You're lucky you don't have her on your team" Nerva said while pointing his thumb at Morrigan "she has so many clothes, and about 75% of them are random outfits"

"I still can't believe you brought those with you" Diana said to Morrigan

"Even though you know you love them" she smugly said "and I'm sure everyone else wouldn't mind seeing me in them either"

"In what?" Orin asked

"I'll leave that as a surprise" Morrigan said with a wink
