CHAPTER 10
The newly couple sits by the foot of the singer's bed as the little one happily lays in slumber on the large space of the mattress. They sit in silence as the tan teenager's arm rests along Jade's waist with her head tucked on a pale shoulder while their laced fingers play with one another. Tori struggles with the hand attached to the dip of Jade's curvaceous hip to not travel underneath her incredibly short bottoms exposing a majority of her long, slender legs whilst topped with a long sleeved, grey sweater.
"It's Sunday..." Tori says slowly, breaking the silence.
"Well, thank you for the fresh information, Captain Obvious," Jade replies sarcastically, resulting a smile to stretch across Tori's face, admitting to herself that she's actually missed the old, mean Jade. For the past couple of days, she's been exceptionally sweet to her. Well, she was gankier than usual to their friends, but definitely nicer to her.
"Well, then!" Tori says snarky, jokingly. "What do you want to do for today?" Brown eyes look up, meeting the sexy expression Jade's directing at her, reminding her of what happened-or what hadn't happened in the bathroom earlier as her face turns beet red. Tori clears her throat as Jade laughs at her embarrassed boyfriend. "You did that on purpose!" The brunette accuses, making the girl laugh even harder. "Gank..." Tori pouts as she rests her head back on Jade's shoulder.
"Oh. I am... But I'm your gank." Jade smiles, taking a hold of Tori's chin to meet their gaze before placing a firm, soft kiss against her lips passionately.
"I love you, Jade," Tori says after they've pulled apart from the kiss, realizing it's the first time either of them have had the guts to ever say those three words they've been craving to voice out loud. "And I want to be fully honest with you because you deserve it. You deserve to know what's going on in my mind and you need to know that I need you, Jade. I need you to be sure for me and for yourself." She breathes out, eyes trailing over smooth skin, watching her tongue swipe across the front of her pearly, white teeth as Jade moves in a little closer with her eyes full of love and understanding. Tori smiles and takes it as a sign she'll listen until she's done.
Tori pivots to face Jade fully, both sitting crisscrossed on the bed, "I have thoughts I repeat every morning after taking my early, cold showers and lately my mind has been thinking about you in many different circumstances and all of them are bad... It's my way of creating a safety net, preparing myself for the inevitable... The heartbreak," Tori says with shame in her voice now she's told Jade and how lowly she's been thinking about this amazing, wondering girl, but she's being honest. Doesn't that count for something? "What I'm trying to say is..."
"You're insecure? Afraid if you let me in completely, trust me, I'll crush you and leave you less of a person than you already are? Because of my reputation as a coldhearted bitch, being cruel to everyone, hating a lot of things, doing awful things to people and tormenting you for these past years?" Jade ticks off individually without hesitation-like she knows how horrible she can be. Like it doesn't come to a surprise to her that the person she's fallen in love with thinks she's just as terrible as she knows she is. "I can go on if you want." The thespian breathes out, blue eyes flickering into brown orbs before glancing at her nails, pretending to be nonchalant. She has walls, too, and they're quick to ascend.
Tori looks away, feeling her guilt and shame grow tenfold when her girlfriend lists every mean thought she's been having about her.
Tori Vega-incapable of trusting the one she loves the most.
Ironic.
"Jade... That's just my mind trying to protect my heart. I know you're a good person. You're special to me and that's why I want to fight for you. Be with you..."
"What I'm trying to say is-" Jade interrupts, cutting Tori with a soft glare before she lets her boyfriend ramble. "I'm not a nice girl. Most of the time I'm a bitch and people know. You know that. I hate a lot of things, yes, but despite all those things about me, you managed to fall in love with me. You love me. For me and for who I am." She says. "And god know how much I hated you from the first time I laid eyes on you. Look at you. You're disgustingly nice, pretty, talents and annoyingly peppy. Then along the way, I happened to fall in love with you because you are exceptional, Tori Vega, even after I know about your condition." A pale hand palms the singer's cheek as she looks into those deep, brown irises. "I love you for the person you are and you need to get these words into that thick skull of yours because I'm not going to repeat it, okay? I LOVE you for everything you are."
The brunette nods slowly, eyes filled with tears that's been fighting to escape as she listens to the actress's confession. They were the words she needed to hear. The clarity for her heart, mind and soul. "Thank you, Jade," She gets out before kissing the girl with passion, giving her all the love she can give as the tears slowly find its way down to her cheeks. Tears of joy, of course. "I love you." Tori says as they pull back for much needed air.
"So," Jade husks. "What do you think about shopping?" She chuckles as the brunette follows her not long after, trying to muffle their jubilant laughter before the little one wakes, but it's too late.

"Okay, cool. See you guys at the mall," Jade says, hanging up the phone before the gang says anything else as she finishes making a pot of coffee for both her and Tori. They decided to go to the mall to shop for some baby things and just having a fun day. They needed to get away from the house and change the scenery.
"Tor, I told Beck to meet us at the mall and asked him to tell the others," Jade calls out, getting silence in return. "Babe!" A pierced eyebrow raises in question, her feet taking her to an empty room that is her boyfriend's since she should be done dressing the little peanut after giving her a bath. She follows a soft giggle to the bathroom, her sights meeting an adorable, funny scene.
Lilly giggles uncontrollably as Tori rinses her tiny body with soap, tickling her sides whilst saying random, jibberish things.
"Oh, my god. What are you doing?" Jade asks as Tori looks up at her with an unintentionally cute expression, a cusp of bubble from the bath painting her cheeks that makes Jade want to cup those cheeks and kiss her right there and then, but she remembers of the little jelly bean in the tub splashing about. "Why are you in the tub with Lilly?" Jade asks as she grabs the towel from the sink counter.
"I was trying to bathe her, but she cried and kept squirming too much, so I got in and she kind of liked it," Tori explains herself as she smiles at her daughter sheepishly, her shoulders shrugging.
"How long have you been in the tub?" Jade questions, motioning Tori to lift Lilly up so she can bundle her up in the towel. "Oh, baby girl, you must be freezing! Come on, let's get you dressed before you catch a cold, huh? Your Papa is never giving you a splish-splash alone again!" Jade croons, making Lilly giggle and squeal about as she gets carried to the bedroom.
Tori gets up and out of the tub with half of her clothes soaking wet. "She likes it when I get in the tub with her!" The Latino whines, but Jade's already in her room chatting with the baby as she sighs and dries herself off.
Five minutes later, Tori comes out with a towel wrapped around her slim body, expecting Jade to be in her room with Lilly, but to no avail. Guessing they're downstairs, she quickly dresses, deciding on a collared shirt, a v-neck button-up sweater, dark jeans and fashionable, casual sneakers.
She runs a brush through her soft, brown hair which is growing longer, but she still manages to get the boy look on her, much like Beck's hair, though, but not that fluffy. And Canadian. She jogs down the stairs to find Jade in the kitchen with her daughter with an instant smile on her face. She loves seeing Jade so motherly, so she stops for a beat to look at her, saving it in her memory for a rainy day since Jade doesn't show this side often.
"Hey," Tori says softly, dropping a soft kiss on Jade's cheek as she grabs her cup of coffee.
"In the tub? Really, babe?" Jade smirks, not being able to get it out of her head.
"She likes it when I'm in there with her! I don't know what else to do when she cries," Tori pouts, defending herself before she takes a generously gulp of the steaming cup of joe.
"Next time, don't let her stay in too long in the water. Besides, you can call for help," Jade says, earning a nod of understanding from the singer. "Oh, I need to get dressed. We're meeting the gang in half an hour at the mall. I've already packed Lilly's diaper bag, her baby carrier and the car seat are in the living room. Her bottle should be ready any second now." She checks off mentally, letting Tori scoop her little jelly bean in her arms.
Tori smiles as she looks at the giggling infant cradled against her chest. "Do you know what you sound like just now?" The pale girl stops and turns around for a moment by Tori's question. "A mother," Tori finishes, throwing a playful wink at her temporarily shocked (and insanely beautiful) girlfriend.
The youngest gasps lowly, "I am not!"
"It's okay, babe, your maternal side is showing by taking care of Lilly. It's natural to..."
"Tori..." Jade says, cutting the boy off.
"Yeah, Jade?"
"Shut up," She says sharply before disappearing upstairs.
"Jade!" Tori protests, nearly running after Jade before a beeping noise cuts her off, indicating the bottle of milk ready. She lets this one go. This time.
Lilly drinks the bottle of milk eagerly, her tiny fists trying to hold the bottle on her own as she gulps hungrily. Tori kisses her forehead, thinking of Jade. Is she freaking out? She thinks, hoping Jade calms down if she is freaking out. She honestly didn't mean to scare her like that. Oh, god. What if... She doesn't have the guts to finish the thought.
The actress shakes her head, trying to soothe the inner turmoil raging inside of her. "Do you know what you sound like just now? ... A mother." She takes a deep breath, inhaling deeply. She can't be freaking out right now. Jade West does not freak out. Not even by a fire on the building or her father when he decided to divorce her mother. Not even when Beck said he loved her for the first time. She's not going to freak out now when Vega said she's acting like a mother.
She's been rather calm and collective since the little mini-Tori arrived. Helpful, even. Especially when she found out Tori was the 'father'. Her love for the singer hadn't changed a bit. It didn't freak her out.
So why did the single word 'Mother' get her so worked up and ready to explode? Why does saying it out loud make her feel crazy inside? It's not about Tori and it's not about Lilly. It's about her-or maybe she's just reading too much into it. She needs to relax. Freaking out like this will make Tori worried and she would ask her what happened and make her talk. She hates talking and pouring her feelings out in the open. She loves Tori, of course, but like she said to her: she's a mean, vicious person with deep, psychological issues. There is no kinder, sweeter or softer side to Jade that's waiting to be surfaced into the light. She simply made a special effort for Tori to be nice to her because she's exceptional and the person she loves, but everything else she is, she is just not ready for a big change. Maybe she never will be ready.
Talking and feeling is not a good combo.
(- - Sha - -)
Tori finishes strapping Lilly into her car seat, the toddler sucking on the pacifier before Jade shuts the front door, garbed in a black skirt, black leggings and a long sleeved green shirt with her mid-calf boots and her onyx hair curled perfectly. As always, beautiful. She locks the door before her long legs strut to the BMW M6. Tori quickly rushes to the passenger side to open the door for her blue-eyed beauty.
Jade, although staying strangely quiet, drops a kiss on Tori's cheek before she slides in, throwing her a small smile on the way. Tori bites down on her lower lip, wondering if she should be worried that she can't decipher the look on her girlfriend's face. When Jade usually freaks about something, she acts out, throws things, cuts something, yell or cry uncontrollably. But this time is different. She seems eerily calm and quiet, which makes the Latina even more worried. All the insecurities she pushed aside are slowly starting to seep through the cracks, rushing to the surface as she struggles not to let it get to her.
"This is it. Jade's eyes finally opened and realizes being with me is a mistake," Her mind quickly says as she tries her best to keep the others at bay before they eat her away.
"Is she... Is she finally realizing it...?" She thinks to herself as she makes sure Jade's tucked in the passenger side before she shuts the door, taking her time to walk around the car to her seat. She settles on the driver's side before she musters up the courage to start the engine and drive off.
The ride is silent, like she expected it to be. The only audible noise is Lilly cooing and kicking her tiny legs as she curiously looks out the window. It's killing her. It might literally kill her to not know what going on in Jade's mind as she looks out the window, focusing on the road, passerby, cars and sometimes her nails with a plain expression.
The young parent fights the urge to slam on the brakes to get Jade to talk to her. She shouldn't have said it out loud. She should've just shut her mouth. She shouldn't have let herself be so vulnerable and free to be herself around Jade so soon. Then maybe the day would go on easier and carefree than a silent, uncomfortable ride to the mall.
Christ, her and her big mouth.
"Jade..." Tori says softly, breaking the silence after a couple of seconds once they've reached the parking lot.
The pale, blue-eyed girl slowly turns her head to the side to face the distraught singer. Her lips twitch a little into a smile, close to saying something to ease the tan teenager before her phone interrupts with a horror themed ringtone. She curses mentally because she wanted to wipe that stupid, sad look off of her boyfriend's face. She has an inkling that Tori's mind has wandered off somewhere dangerous. It was obvious. Even without Tori breaking her neck every second when she driving to steal glances at Jade, running every possible scene in her head. She feels guilty to even consider freaking out right now, but she can't it because she's only human. The barrier separating her sane and acted sane behavior is very thin and all she can do now is keep calm, silent and wait until they arrive at the mall and quickly find Beck so she can let it all out.
Jade knows she should be talking to Tori about this, but the situation is still fragile at the moment. After that heart-to-heart talk this morning, she can't talk to her about her inner battle-at least not know. Not while she's on the verge of bursting at the seams because of how overwhelmed the situation is for her. So for now, she needs to say nothing to her boyfriend.
Jade sighs before she picks up her vibrating phone, angrily tapping the green button. "Hello?" She answers plainly. "Yes, we're already outside. Parking lot. See you, then." She says casually before hanging up the phone, glancing at the figure fidgeting in the driver's side. "It was Beck. He said they're waiting at the baby store and that Cat's already running around the place." She breathes out, making the distressed teenager laugh at the last part, the awkwardness dissolving as Jade reaches out for Tori's hand, bringing it to her lips to kiss the palm. "Stop over thinking, okay?" She says, trying to give the singer a message that she needs time and she'll talk when she's ready.
The singer nods and gives her a warm smile. "I love you, Jade." She says with a soft tone, making Jade feel the butterflies all over her stomach.
"Stop being a sap and get the baby. Our friends are waiting." Jade snaps and immediately regrets doing so as the brunette nods slowly, reaching for the door handle. Before she can open the door, Jade grabs Tori by the collar of her shirt, pulling her in for a passionate kiss.
Tori smiles, a very big goofy smile when they break apart. "God, you're such a dork," Says Jade, the smile never leaving her lips before she gets Lilly out to walk them to the mall.
"The day isn't over yet."
(- - Sha - -)
"Oh, look! Look! LOOK! LOOKIE!" Cat squeals in happiness, holding a pink, stuffed animal. "It's so perfect for Lilly! She would looove it!" She says, dragging out the 'O' to give it more effect about her feelings. It's like, her world is full of happiness. Even the grey clouds are afraid to make an appearance and ruin her rainbow ride.
Sometimes they all envy her and her ability to stay happy and positive all the times towards nearly everything without a care about how cruel the world can be. She's just Caterina Valentine; the bubbly, adorable, cute redhead girl and as long as she has Mr. Long Neck, she would be just fine.
Andre is already by her side, chasing her around like a lost puppy, paying extra attention to the giggling girl, afraid if he turned away, she would disappear.
The singer-songwriter always played the role of a big brother for everyone. It's like if they were one big family, the role would fit him perfectly with Beck the super calm, understanding sibling. Robbie and Cat would be the twisted twins, always getting into trouble while Jade would be the mean sister, always yelling at said twisted twins while he and Tori would be the big brothers and protect them. He smiles at the thought. If they were one big family, he'd sure die young with all the unique behavior from his siblings. One big fantasy family.
Although, in real life, he's been nothing but a brother for both Robbie and Tori. God knows how close they are to each other. They've been friends for as long as they can remember and with that amount of years on them, they've become very close. He would be the one to look out for the two idiot of friends, especially Tori because she can be very fragile. Robbie would always have Tori to keep him sane since she's really protective towards Robbie. He remembers how Jade said it once; they're the dork version of the Three Musketeers who will always have each other's backs.
Aside from Andre playing the big brother card on Cat, Robbie busies himself to look for something cute for the redhead since he's had a crush on her since forever. He hasn't been bringing Rex lately because he wanted to be seen alone without Rex's clever comments. He's grown a lot since Tori made him admit his feelings for the petite redheaded actress. He wanted to be the man, not a boy like Rex always said. He keeps looking for the right thing to buy for Cat and maybe, when he gives it to her, he can also ask her out. He smiles and thinks it may be a great idea to ask the girl out on her happiest moment.
While the puppet master was buried in his own thoughts, the Canadian actor waits for the two love birds and the little one by the entrance. The fluffy haired boy leans against the wall near the door as he casually brushes his hair with his hand, thinking about the past few days. It's still hard to think about what had happened, though he managed to keep pretty calm and positive and understanding. It still feels surreal, finding out his best friend's medical condition, the baby and then his ex getting with said best friend. Don't get it wrong, he's not jealous at all because he and Jade are done for good and both are already moved on and he's happy for them.
But the tan boy knows his ex pretty and well, and he could say, she's been holding it up pretty good. Usually, the girl would be freaking out by now. If not now, then soon. It only takes the right trigger to set her on fire and realize how overwhelmed everything is for her.
Beck smiles, thinking about how Jade would try and handle it on her own, trying to be calm and shit because she wanted to impress Tori. She is, after all, the badass Jade West. Nothing scares her.
He chuckles at the thought.
Beck just finishes checking his phone again, letting him know that Tori and Jade should be there at any moment. As in on cue he saw the little family walks toward him, and he gave his bright smile to them as Tori waving Lilly's little hand back and forth saying hi back to Beck.
"What took you so long?" Beck asked as he reach out to handshakes Lilly's little hand playfully.
"Well, the mall is not actually that big and has parking lot the size of a football field." Jade said sarcastically. "It takes time, Oliver." She said annoying with her ex's stupid question.
"Okay, why don't we go inside and find the other, yeah?" Tori said before Beck and Jade begins their bantering and makes both her and the little one uncomfortable. It feels kind of weird having her girlfriend and best friend who is the ex, caught up in some arguments or when one of them know each other better, the singer can't help but feel little bit jealous. She knows they are just very good friends and knowing their history of years they spent loving each other as lovers make them closer than anyone ever have. Tori hopes that one day, she and Jade would be able to be closer and open to each other.
The singer walk ahead and start looking for the singer-songwriter, she kind of need little chat with him. She needs brotherly moment before she's going insane trying to deduct everything by her lonesome. Jade still keeps her scowl or you might say - - A really adorable pout in Tori's point of view - - as Beck nudges her in the shoulder.
"What's got your pants in a twist, huh?" He asked with a low tone so only him and Jade can hear. "Everything's okay, right?" He asked again before the blue eyed beauty had a chance to answer, which is annoyed her and she nudge Beck in the arm strong enough to make him wince.
"Shut up! I need to talk to you." She said in the same low tone.
"You freaking out are you?" Beck said it as a statement than a question, he smile at Jade's reaction because she kind of forget how easy it is for Beck to read her, and it still irks her to the bone.
(- - Sha - -)
I hope you all enjoy it. Don't forget about the candy. :)
See ya.
