Darkness Within

Chapter 10

"Where are we going?" Ste asked as he was dragged away from Brendan. His heart beat quickly inside his chest, he could feel the darkness within desperately trying to claw its way back into his consciousness and he fought it with everything he had. He needed to keep it hidden in order to fight Walker off.

He noticed they were in a new part of the museum but still underground. The basement was vast and cold. The air swirled with a choking dust that when inhaled scratched at your throat. Ste's throat constricted but it wasn't the dust; it was the wandering hands Walker seemed to possess over his body. Ste hated how the touch of another man made him feel when the black spirit was inside him, it changed his thinking completely, made him suffer to touch of his husband. He needed to defeat the evil around him and quickly before he lost himself.

"Who cares where we are going?" Walker shrugged gripping a tighter hold over Ste he smirked.

"When did it first find you?"

"Years ago, and I was glad of it too, made me stronger than I have ever been in my life, I became a leader. Then my stupid excuse for a brother tricked it out of me for himself." Walkers eyes glowed red as he angered more "I hunted him down with my police skills though, he thought he could escape through the mirrors, he was so very wrong"

"Yeah, the mirrors thing, that's very creepy, this whole place is worse than the house we once found ourselves in"

"House?" Walker asked genuinely interested "That where you found yours?"

Ste nodded his head in agreement and tried to release Walkers grip but he just back handed him across the face hard cutting over his cheeks and making his blood drip out of him and down onto his neck. Ste winced and closed his eyes with the stinging pain.

"Ya fucking idiot, what the hell are you playing at hitting me huh?" Ste began to get angry and Walker grinned at him seeing his face changing shape. Ste gasped and realised what he'd done and tried to calm down but it was too late as his eyes became blood shot and veins flowed with the dark liquid. Walker was on his lips in a heart beat pressing his tongue deep into Ste's mouth and tasting his mouth like it was a wonderful sweet honey. Ste moaned into it and reciprocated the kiss with a craving he couldn't repress.

Walker moved them into a room with tables and chairs; a huge globe stood in the far corner of the room, the window was tall and covered in a deep blue curtain that had been left open slightly spreading a thin sliver moon beam into the room. Walker hitched up Ste by his thighs and felt Ste tighten them they didn't break their kiss as Ste was thrown up against the wall hard.

Ste's reddened eyes lolled back into his head when Walker moved his hands down and across his hardening groin and rubbed him erect, his cock straining against the material. Walker smiled and licked his tongue over Ste's neck when his head fell back against the wall. He bit hard and left piercing marks with his sharp teeth drawing blood he sucked it off afterwards humming with the metallic taste. It slithered over his tongue and dripped down his throat.

Walker moved to widen his mouth over Ste's and kissed him harder, Ste wasn't stopping him, he felt high and turned on, the black veins swirled and throbbed around his skin like tiny demented snakes. "I want you" Walker whispered into Ste's ear, his blood still stained over his teeth. His hands moved to unbutton and zip open Ste's jeans and his hand moved and felt over Ste's erection making him keen and gasp in his warm palm. "Hmm, looks like ya want me too" Walker smirked "I bet you taste delicious" Walker moved Ste's legs down and fell to his knees watching the pre come dribble over his cock his lapped at it and sucked the head, Ste cried out when he felt himself devoured deeper into Walker's warm mouth and sucked at vigorously, his hips jolted with the ferocity of Walkers grip.

Ste moved his hands through Walker's soft flowing brown hair and guided him over his cock with every thrust of his hips groaning with the pleasure.

A single tear fell down his cheek.

Brendan rubbed at the object Ste had handed him, thumbed at it to try and see what on earth it was. It felt metal and an odd round shape on a long chain. He knew then it was some sort of trinket, had to be the one he was thinking of.

A bright light appeared before him and the little spirit girl was stood there face scared looking up at the many dark entities that surrounded the others. They were gaining on them and she had to help some how. Her aura began to glow so brightly it became too much to look at as Brendan turned his head away from her he grappled at the binds that kept him prisoner and felt them loosen.

"I can't see" He whispered to the girl who was concentrating hard. The spirits screeched and backed off a little buying them a little time.

"Brendan, Ste needs you" The girl said and Brendan looked at her then, didn't care if the light was too much, he needed to save him more than anything else.

"I need to help him, but I don't know how too" Brendan felt deflated, and helpless.

"The other man is manipulating him into doing things he wouldn't normally want to" The girl spoke and Brendan's insides twisted. He ripped at his wrists in anger making his wrists red raw but he didn't care. "Throw the stone piece at them, I will increase it's power to stun them, but you must find the boxes to trap them, they wont stay paralysed forever"

Brendan screamed as he pulled his wrists apart in a straining agony and the restraints snapped allowing brendan to hold the necklace in his hand. He noted it was the piece they'd found in the golden box at the house. He did as the girl had said and threw it at the mass of swirly spirits and the light in the room increased so bright Brendan fell to his knees and shielded his eyes with the explosion of brightness.

The others all blinked and coughed as the odd smell of sulphur surrounded them with bright orange sparkles that danced downwards in the air around them. The others were still bound so Brendan rushed to open them and free his friends. Cheryl was untied first who in turn helped Nate. They shared an intimate hug and kiss Cheryl not wanting to let go.

The others all stood and them walked backwards together looking up at the ceiling and still seeing the black mass congregated together but frozen in time.

"What happened to them?" Cheryl asked still shaking from the ordeal they had been through

"Looks like they are imprisoned or something?" Nate answered and looked over at Brendan who had his head in his hands.

"Who cares, I mean does it matter? They can't get us, and now I have to find my husband and pray he still remembers me" Brendan choked back a sob and took a deep breath. Cheryl moved over to him and hugged him close.

"Ste won't forget you love; he worships the ground you walk on" Cheryl smoothed her palms over Brendan's cheeks and looked into his swollen blue eyes."He won't give up, he knows ye are coming for him"

"We all are!" Bert cried and placed an arm around Brendan too "We will all help save Ste!"

"Thank ye Bert" Brendan nodded and then looked up at everyone. "We need to find the other boxes though, we need to split up again."

Darren sighed and threw his hands up in the air fisting to something high up above him. Jim widened his eyes and looked up to the ceiling. "What are you doing?"

"I am cursing the universe is what!" Darren replied "Why do we always have to split up when we are in haunted places?"

"It's the rules" Dennis adds shrugging "Everyone knows you always split up in a haunted place"

There was a small crackling noise that suddenly seemed to move around them, little at first but well defined. It made them all spin around looking at each other warily. "What is that noise?" Carmel asked gripping hold of Jim tightly.

"I have no idea, can anyone see anything?" Jim asked looking at everyone.

"Yes I can see" Patrick held up a shaky finger to the wall which was moving, something was spreading itself across the wall towards them, crackling as it painted the wallpaper.

"Jesus what the hell is that?!"

The substance slithered across the wall like thousands of worms crawling in a large mass together, making the walls come alive in front of them, they watched in horror as the infection spread past them and around the entire basement as far as they could see.

"Yeah, well. Anywhere else and that would have seemed odd eh?" Brendan quipped and shook his head watching the swarming mass, he was so tempted to touch it, but knowing his luck, he'd sprout another head or something to that nature.

Darren moved towards the wall and held a shaky finger out to the wall dying to touch it but at the same time not. His curiosity got the better of him and he pressed the littlest of touches on the wall and as suspected it felt squishy and slimy and...then it was moving down his finger and across his hand and then it slimed its way across his arm and..."AARRGGHH!" Darren finally screamed and alerted everyone to his idiocy. "It's EATING ME!"

Jim jumped in fright and held his hand over Darren's to try and stop the mass from consuming his friend but then it started to infect his body too. The others all ran over. "Don't touch it!" Nate cried to the others.

"A bit late for that! Help us...oh sweet Jesus...it's gonna eat me, I'm going to be its fookin dinner!" Darren was in a right mess eyes widened in fear watching the worm type substance happily devour him and Jim for fun.

Nate then gestured his arms up in a flapped panic "What do we do? Shit!"

Everyone looked at Brendan because obviously he was a walking supernatural encyclopaedia who had all the answers. Only this time he didn't know what to do. He started to pace in panic in the hope it helped him to think a little more clearly. He saw it shine at him, a wave of light as it spread over it on the ground. Then he saw it was the stone piece he'd used earlier, maybe it worked on all things spooky. He knelt down and grabbed it into his hand and looked at it closely, it sparked again in his hand as though it was charging suddenly, ready to do it's thing. Brendan didn't have any other ideas, he had to try.

Jim looked at Carmel's eyes watching in fear she would lose him to this parasite that was encasing his body. It crept slowly covering him up into a cocoon; she had to keep moving her hands higher as it got closer to her. "I'm glad we met Jim, even if it was for a short time" Carmel's tears splashed onto Jim's eye lids and he sighed. "I am glad we met too, and if by some miracle we get out of this museum alive, I will take you to dinner" Carmel smiled and nodded in agreement having to move herself away completely as both he and Darren were almost consumed.

Dennis flapped around Darren watching the mass suddenly pour into his throat and Darren convulsed and rolled his eyes choking. "MOVE!" Brendan ran at them with the stone piece in his hand and watched his friends begin to breathe their last.

"I don't know what to do" Brendan whispered and looked back at everyone else despairingly.

"What did you do last time?"

Brendan looked at the stone and watched it spark, he closed his eyes and threw it against the wall and a huge explosion of light travelled along the wall in its entirety, burning through the mass like a wick end of dynamite it fizzled away. Darren and Jim moved as they too lost their shielded body of slimy mass in a light remedy.

The stone fell to the ground and Brendan retrieved it in his hand and smiled. Ste had known all along it would have protected them; he was now thinking it was time he went and took back the man he loved. He turned to Nate and held his arm around him. "You need to lead one group of us, find those bloody traps, I suggest taking Cheryl with ye, and she seems to be good with those boxes."

Nate nodded and rounded up on the others; Jim and Darren rose to their feet and brushed themselves down. Dennis prodded Darren a few times "So you alright then?"

"What? Oh yeah! I am just peachy, ta for asking" Darren snapped sarcastically slapping Dennis on his back. Jim rolled his eyes at the both of them.

Brendan held his hand on Cheryl's shoulder and asked her for the golden box. She frowned and grabbed it out of her bag and passed it to him smiling. "Ye take care of yourself bren, and ye bring back our Ste yeah?"

"Chez, I will die trying"

"Bren, don't..." Cheryl sobbed and held Brendan close.

"Ye know I can't live without him Chez" Brendan hugged her back then held her at arms length.
"Now ye go with the others and find those boxes, trap them ice spirits yeah?"

Cheryl nodded and moved to walk away before gasping "Bren, what about the swirly thing that's inside Walker? We only have one golden box"

Brendan swallowed and looked from the box back up to her "I hope it likes sharing Chez, and watch your back down here, I fear the wall wasn't the only thing we need to worry about."

Nate kissed Cheryl on his way over to a forlorn looking Brendan. He held onto his shoulder "Hey, don't go alone will you?"

"Me and Steven can do anything together Nate, I just gotta go get my better half back eh?" Brendan sniffed and looked at the golden box in his hands.

"He won't be alone" Bert walked over to them and grabbed his torch in one hand and night stick in the other snapping it in his wrist it spanned into a longer weapon. He smiled and slanted his eyes pushed his shoulders back and looked the business. Brendan couldn't help but smile "There's no other night guard I'd want to help me out, thank ye Bert" Brendan stopped and turned to look at Bert "By the way, Bert...that isn't short for anything is it? Bertholamu?"

Bert looked at Brendan like he was crazy "Nope, just Bert"

"Ah right, just checking, lets go"

Ste moved quickly and made himself decent before sitting at a table and placing his head in his hands. "What did we just do? I am married" Ste sobbed quietly heart broken at the desire he felt for Walker.

"Oh pissy ass is back" Walker drawled "You were enjoying coming down my throat a moment ago so don't dare start with the woe is me crap"

"Fuck you Walker; you just stay the hell away from me!" Ste wiped the tears rolling down his cheeks. "I've lost him now, I've lost Brendan and I will kill you for it"

"You wanted it, stop repressing your inner feelings and sit on my dick" Walker licked his lips at Ste who saw red and flew at him Walker fell backwards on the floor laughing. "That's it Ste, you gonna ride me on the floor?"

"I HATE you, you make my skin crawl, and it's only this spirit inside me that craves you, maybe you should take them both and let it consume ya"

"So if I touch you here..." Walker stroked Ste over his stomach after lifting up the cotton t shirt, Ste whimpered as his fingers trailed over his treasure trail "It doesn't turn you on?"

"Get off me" Ste whispered throwing his head back and closing his eyes. The entity inside him was fighting with him it was making him want Walker and he had to stop before they went further. It was becoming harder for Ste to say no. "Please, don't"

Walker smiled feeling Ste's body quake over him like jelly, he knew in time Ste would eventually be begging him. Walker pushed Ste to one side like a rag doll and stood up over him and gripped his hair yanking his head back painfully. "You will learn to enjoy it Ste, I can't understand why you fight it, give in to the monster inside you, believe me it will make things better" Walker moved down and kissed Ste before letting him go.

"Like you did? Walker who were you before it took over your body and mind? I bet you were a great cop, why did you let it do this to you?" Ste wiped his tears away and settled onto one of the tables noticing the chairs in the room at his disposal. He fingered over the back of one of them and gripped his fingers around the back of the wood.

"What the hell are you trying to do huh? Talk me around?! This is who I am; it woke me up, made me feel alive again. I will never give this up again." Walker was growing tired of Ste's talking. His hands smoothed over the gun in his jacket; maybe he sould shut him up for good.

"Do you think our Bren will be ok?" Cheryl asked as she hurried up to the rest of the group for which seemed like the hundredth time.

"He will be fine, he has Bert!" Carmel smiled "He is a fierce night guard who won't take any nonsense" Carmel promised as she draped over Jim's arm in annoyance. Jim was happy they met, but he was becoming suffocated by her presence, he wanted to be with his fellow colleagues for a while and have a little breather. Patrick seemed to notice or read his mind.

"Carmel come here a moment will you" Patrick stopped at a door "Do you think those boxes will still be in here?"

Carmel walked over and tilted her head to think a moment. "Possibly, yes." Carmel moved the knob a quick click to the left and pushed the door open. A huge mist engulfed them like a bag of flour had been discharged at them. They both coughed and spluttered turning around on unsteady feet towards the others who just burst out laughing at the sight of them.

"OO-ER we have some new ghosts" Dennis quipped pointing at Carmel and Patrick covered in a white sheen. Patrick coughed as the powder fell off his hair. He raised his arm and brushed it all out onto the floor. Carmel copied him until the floor which they stood on was a dusty white.

They entered the room and flicked on the dim bulb that swung from the ceiling and flickered with each swing. As they entered and looked up at it, the bulb stopped dead. And Cheryl shuddered "Someone just walked over my grave" She spoke quietly. And moved into the room and fingered over the old looking yukka plant in the corner of the room.

"I've got them!" Carmel screamed holding aloft a cardboard box. Everyone gathered around her as she placed the box on the table. Cheryl however wasn't stood with them, her voice constricted by the plant stem that had decided to come alive and weave its stems up and round her throat tightly. Cheryl's eyes wide and shaking were reddening bloodshot the more the plant weaved its stalk tighter. It's branches sprouted out of the main body of it and interlocked around her legs and arms scoring cuts into her skin, her eyes closed at the silent agony she was going through desperately trying to tell the others.

Carmel was proud of herself; she had found what they were all looking for. The box popped open after she had worked her sharp nails across the packing selotape. Inside the box lay six black boxes that were similar to the golden box they had found at the house. These were made of a black metal gilding and were heavy in your hand. Nate held one and gasped at how heavy set they were,he looked at the lock on it and then shot a look up at Carmel and Patrick.

"Why the hell would you open these huh? And from a known haunted place?" Nate shook his head in disbelief.

"We are experts!" Carmel sneered

"We were stupid..." Patrick sighed "Yes, but we were curious as scientists, and interested in the supernatural. We wanted to see inside, see what exists in the other plains."

"Well, I hope you are happy with yourselves, one person has already died thanks to this horror museum, you unleashed a tirade of hauntings on us" Nate replied feeling tired at the whole situation.

"That wasn't a person" Darren corrected Nate "I mean it was a monster, and if that is what happens to you when you give in to the swirly thing...well lets just hope Brendan finds Ste, even if he gets it out of him, Walker is already half gone"

"Half?" Dennis blew a large raspberry on his tongue "He's a whole box of frogs if you ask me"

"Right then, lets get these back to the evil twats huddled on the ceiling and get them trapped" Jim smiled folding his arms in a triumph.

Nate smiled at him then glanced to the other side of him expecting Cheryl to be stood there,he thought it was odd she'd been this quiet, but giving to the recent happenings he wasn't surprised. "Chez?" Nate asked looking around "Guys where is Cheryl?"

They all turned around and the noise of a collective gasp shivered through every pore of Nate,he moved and saw his wife being cut to ribbons by a plant. Nate cried out in pain and rushed to her side tearing off the one around her throat. Cheryl sucked in a breath of air in desperation and hungrily gasped for more. He tore at her binds as she screamed in pain and tears rolled down her cheeks he apologised to her each time he had to do it. He was covered in her blood when she was finally released and fell into his arms.

"I have had enough of this place!" Patrick yelled in anger and grabbed the now flailing yukka plant and threw it at the window smashing it into hundreds of glass shards the plant flew and crumbled on impact to the ground. The cool night air swirled ice around their bodies as they huddled together for warmth and watched in horror at the state Cheryl had been left in. Cheryl palmed gently at Nate's cut arm and then looked at her own.

"It looks like we've both been in the wars huh?" Cheryl managed a strangled chuckle despite her pain. Nate had taken pieces of material found by Carmel and tenderly wrapped them around Cheryl's oozing cuts. He kissed around her neck gently in the hope he could sooth the angry scar the plant stem had created.

"A killer plant, what next huh?" Nate spoke as his voice wavered. Cheryl kissed over his lips gently and smiled. "We are all getting out of here OK?"

"Cheryl is right, we are" Jim held his hand out and lifted Cheryl off the floor and then Nate who vowed never to let go of her again.

They all made there way out of the room and closed the door.

Brendan and Bert were a new tag team now and it was their mission to hunt out Walker, possibly kill him, definitely kick his ass and rescue the beautiful prince. Bert's mind was playing into overdrive as his thoughts made him smile as he twirled his deadly weapon out in front of him.

Brendan raised his eyebrow at the sight of him and wondered if maybe he should have embarked on this rescue alone. "Are ye alright over there?" Brendan had to ask, Bert was beginning to freak him out with the grinning.

"Yep,just ready to sort that Walker out for stealing your man"

Brendan managed a smirk "Yeah he will pay for that"

"How did you two meet?"

"You're asking me that now?!"

"Well it passes the time till we find them doesn't it?" Bert shrugged as they walked down deeper into the basement.

"Years ago, I was a proper twat to him, he stood by me throughout all that time, we fell in love, and he stole my heart. We had an experience in a haunted house, then we got married" Brendan smiled so wide it lit up his face and Bert smiled with him like it was a catching yawn.

"Aw, I'm glad you found each other, it's obvious you're soul mates"

Brendan nodded and then looked at Bert "You never found the one?"

"I thought I had, then he turned out to be married!" Bert winked at Brendan who instinctively moved a little further away from him. "Give over! I won't pounce on you! I have to ask though...you don't have a brother do you?"

Brendan was about to answer when a scream came echoing towards them at great speed.
"Steven!" Brendan gasped and ran forward Bert heavy on his trail.

Ste was about to grab the wooden chair and smash it over Walker's head until he was interuped by his flick of the neck to the door behind him. He smiled an evil smile and then looked at Ste who acted nonshallant.

"What?"

"OH this is delicious...guess who has escaped?"

"Bren...You leave him the hell alone Walker!" Ste gripped the back of the chair harder.

"He's on his way to save you...Aw I could actually cry over the sentimentality!" Walker rubbed his hands in happiness and moved closer to Ste. Angling his face behind his ear he licked at Ste's earlobe and Ste whimpered at the touch.

"Hey, we should give him a show he'll never forget huh?" Walker purred seductively and Ste's body was reciprocative to it which made him feel dirty and wrong, so very wrong.

"No, please...it will kill him" Ste was scared so very scared that whatever happened next he wouldn't be able to stop. The dark entity was flourishing inside him; he could feel it crawl around through his veins, making him want this vile man stood next to him. "I beg you, don't make me do this"

"Come off it Ste, I can't make you, if you already want it, and you do want me...admit it" Walker asked Ste and he bit back.

"It will not be me, my body, my heart, it belongs to him, never you" Ste spits in Walker's face and tries to push him off in anger but that's exactly what Walker wants, as soon as Ste angers the malignant entity will take over. Ste turns his head and screams as loud as he possibly can and tries to call Brendan's name but he's punched hard in the stomach and is winded immediately.

Ste comes up to catch his breath as Walker backhands him again, and the ring he wears cuts Ste's lip wide open. That's all it takes for Ste's eyes to turn and veins fill up with the rich black nectar. Walker hums as he takes Ste's bottom lip into his soft mouth, Ste feels his stubble brush over his chin and sends sparks through his body. Walker sucks the blood away and clamps their mouths together in a lust filled kiss. Ste jumps onto a table and lets Walker crawl over him not breaking the kiss.

Brendan is almost there his heart beat thumps at his chest as he reaches the door he hears Bert shout and he hitches a breath and looks back at him.

"Wait! Brendan, whatever you see, remember Ste's last words to you!" Bert shouts suddenly getting the awful feeling pouring over him, he knows whatever is behind that door is going to be bad. Bert tries in vein to catch up but his legs are shorter so his strides are no where near as big as Brendan's. His hand almost grasps his arm but he's opened the door and his gasp is all Bert needs to know something is wrong.

Nate holds on to Cheryl and walks with her patiently, slowly. Her winces of pain hurt him just as much. He kisses her hair every now and then and it makes her smile each time he does it. Patrick is carrying the box and when they near the area he stops and places it on the floor and hands them around to everyone, the only person who doesn't get one is Cheryl and even though she tries to protest, Nate puts his foot down.

The crackling noise they heard earlier in the evening decides to make a re appearance. And they all look at each other worried, Darren and Jim stick to the dead centre of the corridor as the slimy squirming mould rears it's ugly head again dancing along the walls like it owns the place.

"Don't touch it" Darren shakes and Patrick holds onto his shoulder and squeezes in reassurance "We won't let it get you again, we all stick together" Patrick adds and everyone hums in agreement.

They form a smaller elongated group as they walk together metal boxes open and ready. As they reach the stairs they were all thrown down they note an icy mist coming from the ceiling. "They have thawed out, haven't they?" Dennis cried in a low but frightened voice.

"It doesn't matter; we can trap them now so get ready" Nate whispered as they got closer and closer they didn't see behind them the mass of spirits that were gaining on them so fast they wouldn't have been able to act quick enough to even realise. Its only when they stop at the place they were sealed and see they've gone they begin to panic.

The ice demons are on them fast and turning their pink bodies blue, they resemble smurfs by the time their reflexes move into action. The spirits shriek and wail as they are all trapped one by one in a box of their choice. The lids are slammed shut with a purpose. The group hold on to the traps like they are bars of gold and fall collectively onto the ground.

All around them the walls move, shifting with a terrible poison waiting to grab onto their skin and eat them alive. Nate gets up first and pulls up Cheryl helping everyone else. They stare at the walls and huddle themselves together. "Now what?" Carmel asks the group, the collective silence doesn't help.

"Do we go help Brendan or escape?"

"We go help my brother" Cheryl speaks wearily and looks exhausted.

"I want to say no, but...guys we gotta try and help yeah?" Nate asks and they all agree walking down the corridor towards the place where Brendan and Bert went.

Brendan falls to his knees, he wishes he could take back what he sees but he can't and it will be in his mind forever. He tries to remember Ste's words to him, how he loved only him, and that it wasn't his fault but the dark matter that possessed him. How could that be true though, he had felt the thing inside him too, and yes it did take over his mind, but Steven was stronger, Steven could control it.

His fists clenched by the side of him as he roared so loud Bert winced more at the sound of that more that the sight of Walker on top of Ste, writhing around. He could see his tongue was in Ste's mouth and they were enjoying it, Ste's moans were evident. He felt bad for Brendan, he saw his heart break and shatter all over the floor.

Walker hummed as he parted from Ste's lips and turned to Brendan, as did Ste. Brendan could clearly see Ste wasn't in control of his body and the spirit was there in its full possession. Ste smiled at Brendan and it hurt him like knives to his stomach.

"Get off him" Brendan warned Walker

"Ha ha, Brendan! Welcome to the party, hey, he does taste good" Walker winked and Brendan moved closer until Walker held a gun to Ste's head and pressed it hard against his temple pushing his head back against the table hard.

"Tut, tut, did you think it would be THAT easy?" Walker looked at Brendan "Delicious! You did, didn't you?"

"I am going to kill ye" Brendan's eyes covered in a wet sheen as he tried to repress his true feelings, his heart was shattered, but he had to save Steven.

"Yeah? Oh goody, I can't wait to see you try, and then I will blow your precious Steven away, and this time? He won't wake up"

"Steven, if ye can hear me, it doesn't matter, I don't care what I saw, I love ye, I always have loved ye"

As Ste lays under Walker a tear falls down his cheek again as he blinks, he hears Brendan talking to him like a distortion, he can hear Walker too, threatening his life and the cold hard metal of a gun barrel pressed at his head. Ste blinks some more and calms down and begins to feel happy, the spirit cannot come through whenever Ste regains his will. He winces as he trails his hand between himself and rubs over Walker's groin trying to distract him.

Walker hums at the touch and shows Brendan just what his precious husband really wants,as Ste's movements grow faster Walker's grip on the gun loosens and it gives Ste the perfect opportunity to move his head quickly and grab Walkers dick in his hand with a crushing grip. Walker screams and drops the gun. Ste sits him up and seethes into his face still refusing to let go. "I hate you, you fucking disgust me, I belong to him not you, not fucking ever" Ste moves his knees up close to his chest and kicks Walker off his body and jumps off the table rounding it and grabbing the gun. His hands are shaking holding it at him and he holds it at Walker's temple.

Brendan throws the golden box to Bert who catches it and rushes over to Ste who gasps as the entity is sucked out of his body. The gun slips and Brendan tries to catch it but Walker does instead. He points it at Ste and looks back at Brendan before firing the gun.

Brendan screams and is on Walker in a heart beat they struggle on the floor and the gun is thrown out of his grasp. Brendan can't reach it as Walker manages to claw at his face Brendan feels his hand press under his chin and as he looks up he smiles. Walker looks in confusion, and when he looks to the same place he lessens his grip allowing Brendan to lift him up by the scruff of his neck.

"I told ye I would kill ye Walker, slowly" Brendan throws Walker against the wall and stands back. Walker gestures his hands up. "What the actual fuck? You are weak and pitiful, I have just shot your husband, tasted every part of him and you throw me against a wall?"

Brendan sobs the tears now streaming down his cheeks he moves to where Steven was laying. Behind him the poisonous mould has got hold of Walker as he tried to move he couldn't, it consumed his body slowly, worked its way up over him and poured down into his screaming mouth. His eyes stayed open as his body convulsed; only closing when the dangerous mass filled his lungs and covered his face. It sealed the darkness within him, his body outline the only thing now left.

Brendan fell to his knees at the side of Steven and couldn't stop the pain as it took over his body. There was a loud crash as the others piled into the room Cheryl rushed over and screamed, it echoed around the moonlit room, along with the cries of sadness.

One week later

It was a cold morning of the funeral, colder than normal and Nate and Cheryl moved out of the black car and walked with their arms linked. Brendan was stood over the grave opening with an acute sadness. He looked at the white rose before he threw it in and it seemed to float on the wind before drifting on top of the pine coffin that laid there. He looked up and saw Cheryl walking up and nodded to the grave whispering "I'm sorry"

He walked past Cheryl and Nate and got in the car quickly, they looked behind them at Brendan and then at each other.

"He was bound to take it badly Chez" Nate stroked her face gently and thumbed the tear away.

"I know it's just so cruel" Cheryl sighed throwing her own rose into the grave and leaving to get back into the car.

Brendan walked through the white walled corridors and opened up the door walking over to the bed in the room he'd entered he sat down. He smiled watching Steven open his eyes and he stroked gently over his face. His eyes still looked tired he noted and as he gripped over his hand he kissed gently over it.

"How was it?" Ste asked with a sob in his throat. "The funeral?"

"Hard Steven, he didn't deserve to die, but at the same time, I'm happy it was him instead of ye. What kind of person does that make me?" Brendan moved his forehead to Ste's hand. Ste's other one came over and stroked through his hair softly. "A wonderful person Bren, of course you feel that way, I would've been the same if it had been you"

Bert had rushed quickly over to Ste as soon as he caught the golden box, he even opened it before getting close enough. He smiled as the evil spirit had left Ste and as it wailed and screeched into the box he slammed it shut. The golden key sealed the trap forever.

As bert had placed it down he caught Ste and managed to soften the fall for him, he looked up and the smile fell quickly from his mouth seeing Walker pointing the gun at Ste. he instinctively threw himself into the path of the bullet and took a fatal hit to his heart. He flopped down onto a unconscious Ste as his last breath left his body.

"He was a hero, he saved my life and I will always be grateful to him for that" Ste wiped another stray tear from his eye.

Brendan lifted his head and agreed "I am glad we met him, he was a really great bloke, would do anything for ye"

"He had great taste in men too; he fancied the pants off ya, I was almost jealous" Ste managed a little smile

"Only almost? He was a night guard Steven, and wore a uniform" Brendan smiled back shaking his head "Ah fuck, why did he have to die? I'm just glad we got Walker at the same time"

"And the building was demolished, I wasn't surprised the amount of supernatural activity that was unleashed afterwards" Ste assessed "Did you hear about the possessed clowns? Bloody freaky that"

"Hmm, I did hear about that yeah, toy clowns attacking people, some jumped out from under peoples beds! That was the final straw I guess then they blew up the museum burying the lot. They concreted over it too; I hear they plan to build something else in its place."

"OH? What is that then?" Ste asked

"A circus"

Ste looked up at Brendan who was smirking "Nah, they haven't decided yet.

"Bren what you saw at the museum, we need to talk about it." Ste gulped down the lump in his throat. "I am sorry, please, please forgive me"

"I know ye are, there's nothing to forgive. How was it your fault Steven? That spirit took over ye, I know how that felt" Brendan moved and kissed over Ste's wedding band "It doesn't matter because ye are my life, and I love ye more than anything"

Brendan saw Ste open his mouth to tell him more but he placed a finger on his lips "What I don't know isn't going to hurt me, time to put it all behind us and go on that holiday I promised ye" Brendan turned to look behind him and check no one was around he moved to crawl up and over Ste's body.

"I love you Brendan" Ste moved their lips together and he melted into a sensual kiss.

"I love ye more" Brendan spoke over Ste's lips and caressed them lovingly "Now...where do ye want me to take ye beautiful?"

Ste smiled "To the stars"
