Hi Everyone, sorry this one is abit short but I wanted to get something up.
On the Sunday, Regina went for her morning run, she felt energized, which most likely had something to do with Emma's text message the previous evening, about taking Regina out for dinner, for everything she's done lately.
And upon her return to the apartment an hour later, she headed up the stairs to find Henry waiting outside her door.
"Finally" he huffed.
"What's wrong Henry?" she asked concerned.
"Nothing. It's just I wanted to see you about something" he rubbed this arm.
"Oh?" she asked, whilst opening the door.
"Yeah, um, I wanted to ask if, well" he looked to the floor
"Surely it can't be that bad Henry" Regina chuckled as she walked into her apartment and went to get a drink from her fridge.
"I just wanted to know if you liked Italian?"
"Yes, why?"
"Just asking" he grinned.
Hum, Regina thought.
"Is Emma upstairs?" Regina then asked.
"Yeah, she's been getting ready so when can go to the store"
"Oh" Regina smiled and then was suddenly interrupted my the door opening and Emma peeping in.
"Hey" she said, with a small smile.
"Mom"
"I Should have known you would be here" she gave him a look and then looked to Regina, who brushed her hand through her hair and looked Emma over flirtatiously, thinking she wasn't being to obvious, but she was.
"I see your wearing you running gear, are you heading out?" Emma asked softly, whilst crossing her arms.
Regina looked down at herself.
"Actually I have already been out" she smirked.
"Cool" Emma licked her lips, as she stared at Regina's lips."Well were heading to the local store so do you want anything?" she then asked.
"No thank you" Regina smiled, thinking it sweet of Emma to ask.
"Right. We better go then" Emma turned to Henry, who was looking at her with a smug smile.
"Okay" he said.
"I'll speak to you later" Emma then told Regina as they walked out the door, leaving Regina shaking her head in amusement.
Two days later. Regina was sat in her office doing paperwork, when Katheryn opened the door.
"Regina" she said smugly.
"Yes" she replied, keeping her eyes on the paperwork.
"I think someone is here to see you" she smirked.
Regina looked round at her.
"Who?"
"A certain blonde neighbor" she chuckled.
"Emma is here?" Regina said in surprise.
"Yeah, shes been here about five minutes and I think she's looking for you" she smirked.
"Oh" Regina stood up and adjusted her silk blouse and flicked her hair.
"Oh my god, you are so obvious" Katheryn teased.
"Shut up" Regina smirked and went to walk past her.
"Good luck" Katheryn muttered and Regina rolled her eyes as headed over to Emma's table.
"Hello dear" Regina said breathlessly, upon reaching the table.
"Hey" Emma replied, as she stared up at the brunette and they spent a long moment just staring at each other before Regina gestured to the mug.
"I see you have ordered a hot chocolate" she smiled.
"Yeah, its the best in town" Emma smirked and Regina rolled her eyes playfully.
"Are you waiting for someone?" Regina then asked softly.
"No, I just wanted to see..." her eyes darted left and right "I mean, I wanted to come see how you were getting on and also get a hot chocolate" she smiled.
Regina's heart swelled and she pulled the chair out and sat opposite.
"Everything is going well, thank you. I think, moving here is the best thing I have ever done"
"Really?" the blonde tilted her head curciously.
Regina nodded and looked to Emma's hand, that was flat on the table. She wondered what it would be like to hold that hand.
"Why does that woman keep staring over at me?" Emma then asked, breaking Regina out of her musings.
"Sorry, what?"
"The blonde woman, why does she keep staring over at me"
Regina chuckled.
"That's Katheryn. She's just curious about our friendship"
Emma frowned.
"Why?" she asked.
"She's just nosey" Regina dismissed it, knowing full well that Katheryn knew she liked Emma.
"Okay.. um, anyway, I was thinking" she licked her lips and stared down to her mug "how would you like to go out for that dinner, this Friday night?"
Regina gaped momentarily.
"Are you not working Friday night?" she asked in surprise.
Emma looked back up at her.
"I booked it off" she smiled.
"Oh"
Emma felt her mouth go dry.
"What you think?" she then asked and Regina swallowed.
"Yes, that sounds nice" she replied softly and Emma sighed in relief.
"Great, least you won't have to cook huh?" she chuckled nervously.
"Yes" she brought her hands together and gripped them tightly and thought, is this a date.
"Where are we going?" she then asked.
"That's a surprise" Emma grinned.
"I do not like surprises" Regina warned her and she shook her head.
"Your like this one, I hope" she bit her lip and ducked her head and looked into her mug. Thinking this woman is going to be the death of me and once Emma left, Regina couldn't take the smile off her face. Even when a customer was moaning about the price of the coffee, she was undeterred.
Emma meanwhile, headed home wondering what Friday would bring and kept telling herself this wasn't a date, it was a thank you dinner and later that evening, Emma was going through her wardrobe and held a red dress against herself in the mirror.
"Ugh, who am I kidding, I want it to be a date" she said out loud to herself and shoved the dress back into the wardrobe and sighed.
When Friday came round and Tinkerbell arrived to look after Henry, Emma said her goodbyes and headed down stairs to knock on Regina's door.
"Regina meanwhile was incredible anxious. She had never been so anxious in her life until now and she jumped, at the knocking on her door.
"Coming" she shouted and headed towards the door before putting a trembling hand on the handle and turning it.
Once the door was open, she gaped at Emma, who was standing there in a sleek red dress, heels and her hair was curled beautifully.
"Woah..you look great" Emma said in awe, as she looked at Regina from head to toe.
Regina blushed.
"You don't look so bad yourself Miss Swan"
Emma chuckled nervously.
"Shall we go?"she asked.
"Of course" she smiled and stepped out, closing the door.
They then walked silently to Emma's car, wondering if this was actually a date until Emma opened the door for Regina.
"Thank you" Regina smiled and got in, watching Emma close the door and walk around to the drivers side.
"Are you going to tell me where were going?" Regina asked, patting down her dress.
"Okay" The blonde bit her lip and looked to Regina.
"Where going to Angelo's in town, its an italian restaurant"
Regina smiled.
"Henry actually asked me the other day if I liked Italian"
"Really" she smirked, knowing full well that he had.
"Yes" she smiled then said "Have you been there before?"
"No, but its meant to be the best Italian place, in town" she smiled goofily and then put her seat belt on and then turned the engine on.
Regina mmeanwhile cupped her hands in her lap and looked out the window, the night of her nearly kissing Emma suddenly came to mind and she closed her eyes and thought no, i will not think about that right now...she is my friend...my beautiful wonderful friend, who is taking me out to dinner..oh how I wish this was a more than just dinner...
She sighed, then looked over to Emma, who was concentrating on the road and in that moment, It suddenly hit her like a ton of bricks. She was falling deeply in love, with this wonderful woman, that was sat next to her and she swallowed thickly, before snapping her head forward, whilst trying to calm her racing heart.
Thanks for reading everyone and in the next chapter, an ex of Emma's is at the restaurant, you could say everything really does happen for a reason :)
