...
Since Sanji didn't have keys to Zoro's apartment, he had to wait for the other man to finish with his job. And because he didn't want to wait for few hours in front of his apartment, he decided to head towards his work place.
"It's you!" Perona greeted unpolitely but made Sanji happy still. "What are you doing here?"
"Just waiting for that Moss-head, I am living with him for a while because we had a fire at our restaurant and my room was destroyed," Sanji explained shortly.
"How can you stand living under the same roof with him? Well, I guess you have really no other choice but to live with him, have you?" Perona wondered out aloud. "I just hope Bearsy will treat a gentleman like you well."
"Bearsy?" Sanji raised a brow. "That idiot doesn't deserve a cute nickname like that."
"You tell that to her,it's more a name for a teddy bear than a man like me," Zoro interrupted, approaching the front desk. "What are you doing here? You should be resting and taking it easy," Zoro inquired.
"Well I would but I needed the keys to your house," Sanji scuffed with an annoyed tone - wasn't it pretty clear that he could not enter the house without keys?
"Yeah yeah, here, princess-who-can't-break-the-door," Zoro said with a mocking tone while reaching for the keys in his pocket.
A vein popped in Sanji's head."What did you say? Well, if you prefer me breaking your door to entering the normal way, I will cladly accept!" Sanji hissed and Zoro laughed.
"Sure you could try," Zoro suggested with a confident grin on his face.
"Deal," Sanji said, grabbed the keys and headed towards Zoro's apartment.
Perona stared at the conversation behind her desk with an open mouth. "Are you guys serious or something?"
"Maybe," Zoro said mysteriously and headed towards his office with a smirk on his face.
Immediately after stepping outside Zoro's work place, Sanji dialed a very familiar number. "Yo Franky, I need your help with something. I am about to break a door," Sanji stated calmly when he heard the all-too-familiar greeting from the other side of the line.
"Whoa whoa Curly-cook, slow down!" Franky hissed. "Think a bit about the poor door, will you? You know that there will be a day I won't be fixing any doors for you, right? And my hands are full with your and your old-man's restaurant!"
"Just come and forgive me for my temper alright? Or do you want to let that poor door hang open for the rest of its life?" Sanji reasoned and Franky sighed deeply.
"Okay, just give me the adress, I will be there suupeer quickly," Franky gave up.
...
It had been a long day at work for Zoro. Fridays were usually calm but today he had had few extra classes and tomorrow he would have to teach children how to defend himself even though most of children's classes were mostly him trying to butt into a fight at hand and try to calm the kids down enough to give them chance to learn something.
He dragged himself towards his apartment and met somebody familiar at the door of the apartment complex.
"Hey, your door is fixed," the man with blue, flashy hair informed.
"Thanks...I guess?" Zoro offered, not really sure what was going on and couldn't remember who he was talking to.
Franky realised this soon and reached out his hand to greet the man with similarly odd hair color to his. "The name is Franky, we met at Soul King's concert the other weekend," he introduced himself again.
"Zoro," the green-haired man said when he remembered the man and grabbed his hand firmly. "So...what were you saying about the door?" he inquired curiously.
"Take my hint and ask Sanji to move away, will you? That man will break that door down probably more than once and he has too much temper for your poor door. I did my best to fix it but it will never be the same again," Franky explained and Zoro somehow couldn't believe Sanji had actually broken the door as he had threatened.
"Thanks, I owe you," Zoro said politely and headed inside.
"Any time," Franky said with a smirk and it was that moment when Zoro realised the man wasn't wearing any proper pants.
Trying to shake the image of the flashing pervert away, he headed up the stairs and found himself staring at the door and Zoro had to admit that the pervert Franky was, he knew how to do his job. Zoro knocked the door carefully because he didn't have the keys to his house and soon the blond man opened the door.
"Sorry about the door, I just couldn't refuse," Sanji offered.
"It's okay, you made sure it was fixed too after all," Zoro pointed out. "But I never thought you would have actually guts to do that," he said with a smirk on his face. "or even enough power to break it down," he added with a teasing grin all over his face.
"Hey!" Sanji argued. "Even though I am skinny it doesn't mean I am weak! My muscles aren't for show!" he explained and Zoro couldn't help but chuckle at the reaction.
"Have you eaten yet?" Zoro asked and Sanji shoke his head.
"Not yet but how about some Chinese take-away?" he suggested.
"Why not, I just thought that a top-class chef like you would only want to eat something homemade," he wondered out aloud.
"Even I want to take it easy sometimes and I know one really good restaurant nearby," Sanji noted. "It's not like I will complain about food, I will eat what I can have," Sanji added and Zoro raised a brow.
"Even some literal junk food?" Zoro inquired.
"Even junk food, yes, even left overs, anything," Sanji grumbled and Zoro found himself staring at the skinnier man. He didn't know what but he had a feeling that the blond was hiding something but didn't feel like digging further into the matter at the moment.
Zoro stood there quietly until he decided to get back to business. "So...Chinese takeaway?"
...
Their meal of the day arrived soon and even Zoro had to admit the blond had a great taste when it came to chinese take-away - he had never eaten take-away that good. Writing down the restaurant's name he made sure he could eat the same food again and not bother with other places anymore. It was not like he was being picky about his food but if he knew he could get better food with same prize, why wouldn't he?
"So, what's the deal with you and Zeff?" Zoro decided to ask suddenly to get something to talk about and not just sit silently and enjoy their meals.
"Ah?" Sanji hissed with questioning tone. "What do you mean? He is one Shitty Geezer that's all," Sanji said and took a sip of his tea.
"I know, it's just that you don't seem like father and son at all somehow," Zoro pointed out. "Sure, arguing and stuff is pretty normal but still."
"What do you think you are, expert on father-son relationships?" Sanji inquired.
"Actually no, I grew up without my parents but I know the respect you are having towards Zeff," Zoro noted and Sanji became curious.
"Oh? Mind explaining yourself?" Sanji blurted out before he had time to stop himself but Zoro didn't seem to mind.
"I grew up with a local Kendo teacher in a small village," Zoro told. "I have no memories of my parents but this man, Koshiro, took me in and looked after me like he looked after her own daughter."
"You had a sister? I am surprised," Sanji asked, wondering where this was going to.
"Yeah, one hell of a sister," Zoro mocked but continued his story before Sanji had time to interrupt him because of his rude tone. "Her name was Kuina and she won me in every kendo match we had - she was no girly girl at all," he managed a small laugh but Sanji saw the sad look in his eyes.
"Wait, was?" Sanji pointed out. "You mean she is...dead?" she inquired, feeling slightly sorry for the green-haired man.
"Yeah," Zoro stated. "We were always competing and we promised that another one of us would become Kendo world champion some day...but she hit her head while falling down the stairs and died."
Sanji couldn't decide what to say for a while. "You really loved her, didn't you?"
"Yeah, like brother loves his sister," Zoro smiled gently. "So, what's your story?"
Sanji didn't know where to start off but felt the sudden urge to smoke so he asked if it was okay to smoke and after a firm nod he lit his cigarette and took a calming breath. "Yeah, you were right, Zeff is not my real father but I respect him like one," Sanji admitted. "I grew up at sea - my parents were sailors. I have only some memories of them but I was so young back then that they are pretty hazy."
"We met up with another ship before a storm and Zeff was the captain of that ship. Then the storm hit our ships and...well, me and Zeff were the only survivors," Sanji said with a shaky voice but Zoro said nothing. "We hit one rock and couldn't get away because the cliff was so high, we had only a little food to go on and we knew there would be no search if there was no sight of our ships - rescue team never came to look for us."
Sanji fell odly silent for a while, smoking his cigarette with calm breaths but Zoro knew better not to interrupt him. "Me and Zeff took a lookout from different sides of the cliff so that we could see better if ship approached us but the only ships that passed didn't notice us until the day 85 on the rock," Sanji laughed at the irony and Zoro blinked.
"You mean that you were stranded for almost three months?" Zoro inquired and Sanji nodded.
"Well, we had food to go for a while but in the end, Zeff gave all of his food to me without me even knowing it," Sanji said quietly.
"But how the hell did Zeff survive then?" Zoro asked and saw the ghostly look in the blue eyes.
"Well, let's just say he gets around with that pet leg of his pretty well," Sanji hissed with a slight smirk and it didn't took longer than few seconds for Zoro to pick up the missing pieces of the puzzle.
"You mean, he ate his leg?" Zoro asked to make sure his assumptions were correct. "Damn, I never knew he had that in him," he admitted and even Sanji managed to chuckle slightly.
After a few more calming breaths, Sanji decided to tell the rest of the story. "During our stay there at the rock, Zeff told me he had dreamed of opening an restaurant some day and I promised to help him with that if we made it through alive," Sanji explained. "He adopted me because my parents were gone and he needed me there to fill my promise to him."
They fell into a comfortable silence for the rest of the meal, both looking at each other with different looks. Talking had felt good for both of them and to continue that, Zoro offered some wine. They were both being really talkative and talked about lots of things and without even noticing, it was already pass midnight but neither of them willing to stop.

Author's note
Yay, another chapter! :D No much of romance here but I though it would be good to have a chapter without some kissing and stuff in between so that their relationship can progress naturally :D
