A/N: First I would like to say thank you to everyone who had read so far and reviewed, followed, and added to their favorites. Second, I'm sorry for the long wait. If you follow me on Tumblr, then you know I tried having this chapter out before I went on vacation last week, but the editing process was longer than usual. I'm actually glad I didn't submit the chapter I was going too, because it was rushed and not my best work. So, I hope you all enjoy this chapter. It somewhat follows the last three episodes. And I do mean somewhat. This will also be part I of a 2 part chapter.
And I'm still trying to come down from that Bamon hug from the last episode! =)
Part i.
"At the end of the day when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other… it's usually a load of bull." – Grey's Anatomy.
Intimacy and sex.
Two specific words that could mean the same, but also hold different definitions. Automatically, most people would associate intimacy with sex, and they're in no way wrong. Sex is considered to be the most intimate act that could be shared with someone. But, intimacy could be more than just sex. Intimacy was being completely free with that person; showing vulnerability you couldn't show with anyone else. It was accepting all of one another. It surpassed just the physical aspect of it all and surrendered to an emotional connection between two individuals.
The topics of sex and intimacy were branded in Bonnie Bennett's mind as she read over the final draft of her qualitative research paper for her psychology class, one last time. At first she thought by picking the topic it would be quick and easy; do a little research, get others opinions, and finish the paper in about a few days, but that wasn't the case. After getting all of her materials for the paper, procrastination reared its ugly head and now she was just getting it done only a couple hours before it was due. And because of this paper, Bonnie had sex on the brain almost 24/7. She felt like a cat in heat that needed to get scratched before she exploded. She was sexually frustrated and her fingers weren't really doing the trick anymore. And, since she wasn't one to just go find a random man and hop on his dick for kicks, she was out of luck.
Though, as soon as she got in the mood, she would try to understand why she wanted it so bad. Technically she had only been with one person, so she really didn't have much to compare it too. Jeremy had been gentle and caring with her, but it was nothing mind-blowing and earth shattering like she wanted. After it was over, it was just over. There were even times when it felt like a chore that needed to get done once every two weeks. And then there was the fact that she had never reached an orgasm during intercourse. Granted, Jeremy was good with his tongue, but she still wanted to know what it felt like to actually be in the throes and get that feeling.
Going down memory lane didn't add any help to her current state of mind, and it also didn't help that she was having a female boner for her best friend at the moment.
It had been a little over two weeks since Damon returned, and spending time with him was getting harder and harder each day. They spent most of the week in one another's company, whether they were face to face or communicating over the phone, and the weekends were now solely reserved for just each other.
It was safe to say that Bonnie and Damon had a high level of intimacy; intimacy that didn't involve sex; intimacy that could if she wanted it too. They were friends; that was already established, but the way they were with each other, the close encounters that happened almost every time they were in the same room, it could be argued that they had passed that level of friendship.
"Bons, you want a refill?"
Bonnie's attention immediately went to Matt Donovan, as he stood behind the bar at the Mystic Grille. For a second, she almost forgot she was in the newly renovated building, even though it was loud and there were couples everywhere celebrating Valentine's Day.
"Yes please." She smiled as he poured her more water. "Sorry I'm ruining our Valentine's date with homework."
"I think I'm ruining it by working." He said, as he picked at a few of her fries.
She and Matt decided that since they were the only one in their little action pack group that didn't have a date on Valentine's Day, that they would just entertain one another and get work done. Stefan and Caroline were off somewhere, Tyler and Liv were doing whatever, she had no idea what Elena and Jeremy were up too, and Damon was spending the evening with Enzo. Bonnie had to suppress her mild disdain at the latter, because Enzo had been acting like a complete and total bitch baby just because Damon hadn't been showing him much attention since their return from the 90s. She was almost positively sure that Enzo had a torch for Damon, but she would leave that comment to herself.
But, with all that aside, she was having a descent time with Matt, even though they were preoccupied with other things.
"The one day we all try to play the normal card, you and I decide to work and do school work." she stated, while submitting her paper.
"Yeah, well hopefully Kai doesn't pop up and ruin it for us."
Bonnie heard the sarcasm in his voice, but knew that he was serious. Malachi Parker swooping in and trying to destroy their lives was keeping everyone on high alert lately. It had been a little over a week since Kai merged with Luke and won. It wasn't expected because the prophecy stated that only a set of twins were able to merge, but they were obviously able to overcome that prophecy which led to an awful outcome. And none of them had laid eyes on Kai since. If Bonnie had been a heartless bitch she would have immediately went into the whole 'I told you so' mode, but she actually felt bad. Liv and Jo lost their brother. Luke was a decent guy who didn't deserve to die.
"Even though I'm sure he's just running scared because he's afraid of you." Matt continued.
"Matt Donovan, are you trying to woo me?" She put her hand on her chest and fluttered her eyes. Even though it was nice of him to say that, if it were anyone other than Kai, she would have deemed that true, but the Parker sibling was a sociopath who wasn't afraid of anything, and there was the small fact that he was pretty powerful too and could absorb power from any supernatural being.
"Is it working?" He winked.
Bonnie gave her best seduction face. "Well maybe if you're lucky, I'll take you back to my place and rock your world… twice."
They both shared a laugh, but for a moment Bonnie had been a little serious. That's just how bad she was craving a release between her legs. And, she was relieved when Matt had to step away and tend to customers.
As Bonnie became lost in thought, a male voice that she didn't need to hear right now invaded her ears.
"Whatcha drinkin' on good lookin'."
She had to force a smile at Damon's ridiculous accent. It wasn't that she didn't find it funny, but he decided that it would be okay to stand so close behind her, letting his lips brush against her ear. His breath was like a gentle caress against her skin and for a moment she imagined him taking her on the bar in front of everyone.
She had to force herself not to lean back into him, and since he didn't seem like he was going to move, she shifted a little.
"You shouldn't stand so close. I wouldn't want your date to get jealous."
Turning around, she noticed that his eyes seemed to hold a richer deeper blue than usual and she wondered if nature was just screwing with her. That at this exact moment she was able to point out every little detail in Damon's features proving how sexy he really was.
"Where is your boy toy by the way?" She asked, trying her best to push those thoughts aside.
Damon turned towards Enzo's direction, allowing Bonnie to witness the vampire trying to flirt with some girls at the pool table.
"After I had to pay for a movie to go see some old western that he complained about all the way through, he wanted to end the night by coming here."
Bonnie couldn't help but laugh. "Well if it makes you feel better, you two make a cute couple."
He gave her a look. "You're a real comedian, Judgey.
"I was thinking of trying stand up, so thanks for the compliment."
He smirked, and then glanced over at Matt. "How much longer do you have with Mutt over there?"
She slightly shoved him. "Don't be rude."
"I don't even know why you're doing this anyway. His attention is obviously elsewhere."
Bonnie just rolled her eyes at Damon as she watched Matt serve drinks to several customers. "He's working Damon. I already told you what he and I were doing. And since he's my valentine he has me until midnight. No need to be jealous."
Damon's jaw tensed a little. "Good thing I don't get jealous. Are you still coming over afterwards?"
Bonnie thought about it for a moment. Going over to Damon's tonight, to no doubt just watch a movie and talk, should be completely easy, but with the way she was feeling right now, it probably wouldn't be the best idea.
"Rain check? I'm sure I'll be tired, so I probably wouldn't be the best company tonight."
But of course, Damon wasn't having it.
"Are you trying to break tradition Bon-Bon? Because that would just be a low blow."
"You're such a big kid. We only started doing this a couple weeks ago."
"Exactly. A couple weeks makes it a Damon and Bonnie tradition now. And was it not just last Sunday that you got pissed off at me because I wasn't there when you woke up?"
Bonnie folded her arms. "I already told you, I wasn't pissed off because you weren't there. I was pissed off because you didn't wake me up when I was supposed to meet Tyler and Care for brunch."
"To which I told you that you needed your rest because you were pushing yourself again with the spells, even though you said you wouldn't."
"To which I told you I was fine."
They were literally in a staring match, both holding their own, both wondering who was going to break first this time.
It was Damon who lost this round.
"So, I'll see you after midnight?"
"I'll be there."
And just like that their bickering had ceased. Their mild disputes had become quite amusing when they really thought about what they were arguing over. But that was Bonnie and Damon; two hard headed individuals who cared about the other too much to ever really stay mad.
No soon as Damon had left the building with Enzo, Matt was making his way back up to Bonnie.
"So, you and Damon?"
"Who would have thought we would have gotten close enough to become friends?" Even though those words escaped her lips, she knew that Matt was referring to something else.
"Friends are what you and I are. You and Damon… I'm not blind, Bons."
Bonnie took a deep breath, and then took a sip of water. "Damon and I…I don't know. For lack of a better term, Damon's my person. Spending every day with him in the prison world; going through so many different motions with him, it just…as crazy as it sounds; he's like my other half."
"So, you're in love with him?"
She was. "I'm not going to ruin our date by talking about my feelings for another guy."
Matt shrugged. "I don't mind. I like spending time with you."
"Ditto."
"You want to come behind the bar and learn to mix drinks."
"Am I getting paid?" She asked getting up.
"With hugs."
"I like your hugs."
They both laughed. This was a pretty great Valentine's Day.
After Bonnie and Matt's date, Bonnie had every intention of ditching Damon and going home. She was going to crack open a bottle of champagne, run a bubble bath, and open a fresh pack of batteries, and then toss and turn until she got some sleep. But, of course that didn't happen as she opened the door to the boarding house.
"Bonnie!" She heard Damon yell her name as soon as she walked inside and closed the door.
"The one and only."
When she made her way inside the living room, her breath caught in her throat a little as she witnessed a blanket near the fireplace with a pancake breakfast spread on top.
"What's this?" She asked, putting her purse and jacket down on the couch.
He handed her a glass of Bourbon. "Well, I know how much you wanted to be my valentine, so I decided to make all your dreams come true."
Bonnie immediately laughed. "With the looks of all this, it's you who wanted to be my valentine." She took a sip of her drink.
He took her hand and led her over so they could sit down. "I was thinking that after we watch The Bodyguard, we can watch the new Godzilla movie."
Bonnie gave him a look as she took a seat. She loved that movie just as much as anyone, but after watching it almost every night for four months, anyone would need a break from it. She still couldn't understand how Damon would complain that he was tired of the movie, but yet that would be the first one he'd suggest. They could literally recite ever single line at any given moment.
"Or we could watch Titanic." She suggested.
"Or we could dagger out my eyes and hell could freeze over."
"I could arrange all of that."
Damon took a swig from the bottle. "If we watch Titanic, we won't finish it until next month."
"The movie is not that long."
"Rose let Jack go after promising she wouldn't. Why would you want to watch some shit like that again?"
Bonnie chucked. "It's a metaphor. She wouldn't let go of the memories they shared… she wouldn't let go of the life he wanted for her."
"Or he could have just meant for her to not let go so he wouldn't sink to the bottom of the ocean."
"So we agree, we're watching the movie?"
He rolled his eyes. "Guess I'll need to crack open another bottle."
Around the end of The Bodyguard, Damon knew Bonnie was lost in thought when she didn't recite the airplane scene between Rachel and Frank.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing."
He turned on his side to gaze at her and watched as she stared at the ceiling. "You want to try again?"
She glanced at him for a moment. "I was thinking about doing something to you… well with you."
His dick automatically jumped, but he held his face together. "Should I get naked?"
"Get your mind out of the gutter." She turned to face him. "I was reading in one of the grimoires how witches are able to connect with another supernatural being to provide more energy for both parties involved, and I wanted to know if you'd like to try it?"
"So you're trying to get inside my body?" He questioned. "There are other ways we can do that." He winked, causing her to playfully shove him.
"I've never done this before so I don't know how it's going to be or how long it's going to last."
"Well, I'm game. It's not going to make you push yourself too hard is it?"
"It shouldn't. But if at any time you feel discomfort just pull your hands away."
"We get to hold hands?" He sat up and faced her. "I'm game already."
Minutes later, they sat with their legs crossed in front of each other, with their fingers intertwined. Bonnie cleared her throat, trying to focus and look past the fact that Damon was staring at her like he wanted to devour her. Sometimes she wondered if he were aware that he was looking at her like that.
"Close your eyes."
"Demanding, I like this already."
She squeezed his hands a little and they both closed their eyes.
After Bonnie recited a simple incantation, almost simultaneously, the candles in his whole house and the fire in the fire place flared to life, causing the warmth to encircle their skin. When Bonnie stopped chanting, both of their eyes remained shut and then a wave of something that neither could describe almost knocked the wind out of them.
Bonnie could practically taste Damon's essence against her tongue. It felt as if she were breathing him in; marinating in him. At first it was a little discomforting, because it was like she was sharing her insides with someone else; as if half of his soul shared a space within her and half of her escaped into his. It was like nothing she'd ever felt before; like Damon's energy was accessing all of her internal organs, cleansing her, making her one with him. It was like she was truly seeing Damon; feeling how his body reacted to trauma, weaknesses, bursts of energy, sadness, pain… she could feel all of it. She could feel what made him tick.
And then a feeling of pure pleasure slammed its way into her core, causing an unexpected moan to leave her lips. It was exhilarating; as if she were having spontaneous orgasms that penetrated every aspect of her being. Every part of her senses opened, and she felt slick hot heat course through her bloodstream. It was like a wave of ecstasy between her thighs, rendering her of breath. But, it was more than just a physical feeling; she felt it emotionally and mentally as well. It was providing a sense of safety and security she didn't want to get out of.
It was all so intense that Bonnie wasn't sure how much longer she could take it. Her eyes shot open unexpectedly, and she could barely see Damon sitting in front of her. Her vision was blurred and she felt like she was experiencing an atomic head rush.
She had every intention of letting go of his hands; to going through all of this on her own, but before she could even remove a finger, she was being pulled quickly into him. Damon held onto her like she would die if he let her go.
She was lying on top of him, and she could feel his erection against her thigh. She could feel his intensity of wanting her… wanting to do things with her that would satisfy them both, and would never make them want anyone else. And then out of nowhere, she felt herself grow stronger… she felt her bones getting stronger…almost as if they were shifting.
And just as soon as those feelings came, it stopped. It stopped like a roller coaster coming to an abrupt halt. Bonnie's eyes were finally able to fully focus on Damon, and she saw the intense look in his eyes as he tried to process everything.
All Bonnie knew was that she needed to move away.
As she stood up on shaky legs, trying to hold herself together so she wouldn't fall, she asked if he were alright.
He nodded as his eyes continued to bore into hers.
She nodded as well.
She was about to sprint up the stairs, but he used his vampire speed to stand in front of her, preventing that from happening. This was the first time him doing that surprised her. She was definitely off her game right now. Damon pulled her gently to him, and she just knew that he would attack her lips with his. She was expecting it, and hell, she was yearning for it. But he didn't. Instead, his forehead connected with hers, and he braced his hands on her shoulders. She felt that security again… that safe net that he was providing, and she could also feel him trying to contain himself, because he wanted her. He wanted her bad. And damn it she wanted him too.
"I've smelled your arousal since earlier today at the Grille, and now…" He paused, and she could feel her panties moisten even more. "You should go take a shower, because I want to fuck you so bad on these stairs right now."
Bonnie gulped and her mind wouldn't even let her contemplate anything else, because her feet decided to make the decision for her by bolting upstairs before they decided to take it all to a whole new level.
Damon felt like he was high. It was like he had taken a shot of something and could feel everything flowing within him. He could feel Bonnie, taste her on his tongue; his mouth was salivating just smelling her blood. He wanted her blood in his mouth; he wanted the sweet warmth of her womanly juices in his mouth. He was practically drunk on her and he didn't even know if actually having her would just be enough. He could feel a part of her swimming around inside of him, and he had never felt so connected with someone in his life. He didn't even think that was possible. It wasn't a secret that he and Bonnie had a bond, but what just happened between them was something else entirely. He knew without a doubt that if he were human, that much intensity that flowed through him would have ended his life.
Damon was drinking from his bottle of Bourbon like he would if he were drinking from a water bottle. He was experience a severe case of cluster mind fuck right now, with a hard on that would make a rock take pointers. He was hoping that the alcohol would numb his urges, but all he could imagine was Bonnie's blood flowing in him. He wanted to be inside of her; and it was coming to the point where he not only wanted to fuck and claim her as his, but he wanted her to hold him and grip onto him like their lives depended on it.
Damon wanted Bonnie to keep him safe; to provide a level of security for him. He wanted it all from her. And yet it sounded so unlike him that he could just never flat out admit it.
"Earth to Damon?"
He didn't even hear her walk up and he definitely didn't realize that he had been in the zone for forty five minutes. Turning around to see Bonnie standing before him in one of his shirts, almost made his vamp face turn on. When she slept over she always wore one of his shirts to bed, and since it practically dwarfed her, he never knew if she were just wearing underwear or shorts underneath. Her legs always enticed him, but today he was practicing the ultimate level of control, and he could sense within her that she was too.
"What'd you say?"
"I said that I remember that time on the island." She walked up to him and he had to brace himself at her being close. "When I was in that accident on Christmas Eve, the memory came to me. I don't know how it happened, but I remember that you stayed back to find me. I remember the hug you gave me, and um… whether you did it for me or not, I just wanted to say that I do remember it all, but I never got a chance to thank you."
He took another drink. "I thought your memory was fried from that."
"Trust me, I'm just as surprised as you are." They were silent for a moment. "Why didn't you tell me?"
He shrugged, and took yet another sip. "I didn't need you to get the idea that I actually cared back then."
She gave him a small smile. "We wouldn't want that."
Bonnie was now standing in front of him, and gently took the bottle of bourbon out of his hand and placed it on the counter top. She grabbed intertwined her fingers within his.
Not much could surprise Damon, but when Bonnie stood on her tip toes and her lips touched his, she sure brought that out of him. It was such a simple kiss. A kiss that could have been meant for the cheek or forehead, but Bonnie chose his lips. They had kissed before, and yet there was something about this time that seemed different. He knew a part of it had to do with the spell she performed that was still affecting them both, but there was something else to it.
"Thank you."
Her arms made their way around his neck, and he slightly bent his knees to lift her around his waist. At this moment, anyone would expect their little intimate act to lead elsewhere, but it didn't. Having Bonnie in his arms right now; the way she clutching onto him for dear life, he couldn't think of doing anything else, but holding her. The level of security he was feeling with her being in his arms was so foreign to him, he didn't want to be the first one to let go.
And then against his neck, she whispered something that vibrated through his whole being. They had admitted it before in a subliminal manner, but never just flat out said it to one another.
"I love you, Damon."
"I love you too, Bonnie."
Bonnie woke up the next afternoon with Damon sound asleep, resting on her stomach. She was surprised that she could move a muscle without him waking up; let alone get up out of bed. She had every intention of letting him know that she was leaving for the day, but she was 98% sure that he didn't fall asleep as soon as she did, and she wanted him to get his rest.
Plus, she had a full day ahead of her that consisted of dance and magic practice, and she wanted to spend the day at her Gram's house doing so. She still felt juiced from last night and ready to take on the world. The sharing energy spell was almost too good for words. She wasn't exactly sure how long it would last, but as of right now, it was still holding on pretty strong.
After getting dressed and grabbing her things, she didn't expect to open the front door to see Elena standing there about to knock.
And by the look on Elena's face she didn't expect to see Bonnie either. Even though they shared a dorm room, they still rarely saw each other.
"I wasn't expecting to see you here." Were the first words out of Elena's mouth.
"Same goes for you."
"To what do I owe this surprise?"
Damon's voice broke the staring contest and hostility that began to occur between them. And of course he would come out not wearing a shirt, when he was definitely wearing one when Bonnie left him in bed.
Elena's eyes darted between Bonnie and Damon several times before speaking up. "I just wanted to return some of the things I had of yours and to talk if you had a moment."
Damon's eyes were on Bonnie's frame the whole time, and Bonnie could tell that it was making Elena uncomfortable. Apart of her didn't care how she felt, because she knew that this was just another attempt to try and get back into Damon's life. No matter what was going on with she and Damon, they were still friends, and she didn't want to see him hurt, because at the end of the day, Elena wasn't good enough for him.
"Maybe another time." Damon stated.
It was Bonnie who spoke up, cutting Elena off before she could get a word out. "I actually have to go. I have some things I have to do today."
She was about to walk out the door, when Damon's voice stopped her. "Like what?"
She eyed him. "Just some errands I have to run, I can't give you my whole weekend."
They were talking like Elena wasn't even standing there, and they knew she was getting frustrated.
"You want to take my car?"
Bonnie almost said no, because she was still on a high from her new car, but the look on Elena's face was priceless.
"Sure."
He threw her the keys and she caught them immediately.
"And before you say anything, I'll take care of it."
He smiled at her and they shared one more look before Bonnie left.
No soon as she got in the driver's seat, she contemplated on going back in there. She should stay and listen to what Elena had to say to Damon, but what she really wanted was for Damon to handle himself. She needed him to be able to be in the same room with Elena and not feel the need to lose himself and go back to her. If that made her silly then so be it.
So, before she left, she decided to text him.
Please be careful, Damon. -B
You know I will. I wish you would have stayed because I want us to talk about last night. – D
It amused her yet warmed her heart that Damon was always ready to talk when it came to her. And after telling him that they could discuss everything later, she left, hoping that he wouldn't make any bad decisions.
At the end of the day it all came down to trust.
"I guess its official now. You and Bonnie?" Elena said, as soon as he put his phone down.
"We're friends." He deadpanned.
"Yeah, well you don't let your friends drive your car. Actually, you don't let anyone drive your car. But, you let Bonnie."
She was right. To be honest, the only people he trusted with his baby were Bonnie and his brother, and it took a long time for Stefan to even get that luxury.
"Things change."
"Like you? It's funny how Bonnie can change you in such a short amount of time. What happened to the Damon I fell in love with?"
"The Damon that you fell in love with is right here, but the problem with you is that I don't feel the same way anymore and it bothers you."
"No, what bothers me is that I cried and yearned for you every day when you died. And when you came back it was like I wasn't even a priority of yours anymore."
He watched as she put the box full of his things down.
"Because Elena you weren't. You had to get your memories erased of me to make me look like the bad conniving brother just so you could feel better. I died, and I didn't think I was coming back. So, things changed. You can't be upset that my world doesn't revolve around you anymore."
"But it revolves around Bonnie."
"Bonnie is an important part of my life, yes, but did you ever stop to think that maybe my life revolves around me?"
Silence engulfed them for a while, and as soon as Damon was about to suggest that she leave, her next words stopped him.
"Just… one more night, Damon, please. Can we have one more? Where I'm in your arms…where things were like it used to be, and then I'll leave you alone. I'll stay out of your life."
Their eyes connected, and she was in front of him in an instant.
"That is if you want me too…" she grabbed his hands in hers and kissed them softly.
Bonnie had spent the whole day dancing in her living room. She pushed herself beyond her maximum limit for the week and she was definitely proud. She knew a part of it had to do with the added energy from Damon last night, but the other part had to do with the adrenaline pumping in her bloodstream from leaving Damon alone with Elena earlier.
Granted, she had no right to continue to harp on it, because she trusted Damon, but she knew that he could be unpredictable; especially where Elena was concerned. And okay she was jealous. The green eyed monster reared its ugly head when Elena showed up on his doorstep. At least she was admitting it right?
Yes, she and Damon were just friends, and Bonnie was working on herself to be all she could be, but maybe she was finally understanding that it was okay to have someone be a part of her growing process; not to cause bad influences or to change her decisions, but to provide a level of strength when she began to lose hope. And Damon was technically that person for her.
Okay, she needed to take her mind off it, before she got into her feelings. Dancing did help for a couple hours, but the fact that he hadn't called or text her once, didn't make things better or help ease her mind one bit.
As she was about to get lost in her magic, her doorbell ringing, entered her ears. She didn't expect to see Jeremy standing on her porch.
That had to be the Gilbert's signature move for the day.
"Hey, I know I'm probably the last person you want to see right now." He said, shifting a bit uncomfortably.
Right now, he really was. It went passed the fact that he humiliated her at dinner because that was about two months ago, and at the end of the day she could forgive, but there was a certain vampire she wanted to be standing in front of her instead.
"I just wanted to come here and tell you that I'm sorry… the way everything turned out. The way I acted….it wasn't right. Is there any way that you could ever forgive me?"
"I think at that time we were both in a scary place. So, things were said. I didn't give you much reason as to why I wanted to end things and that wasn't fair to you."
"Even if you did, it wasn't okay to take it all out on you."
"No, it wasn't." She agreed.
"I just… I love you so much and I was hoping that you were all in too, and maybe my pride got the best of me."
"Maybe?" she questioned, causing them both to smile.
"Do you think one day we can be friends?"
"I think so."
He paused. "Good. Look, I wanted to see you before I left and I didn't want to leave without saying goodbye. I didn't want to leave with us on a bad note."
Bonnie had to admit; she was surprised. "You're leaving?"
"I got accepted to art school at Duke. I think I need a change of scenery."
She smiled. She was actually really proud of him. "Congratulations. I think it would be really good for you."
He then wrapped her in a hug. "Bonnie, I know we've been through some things, and I know there were times I broke your trust, but I just wanted you to know that you were an amazing girlfriend, and I would have given anything for us to work out."
Bonnie kissed him lightly on the cheek. "You take care of yourself okay? Have fun and live your life. You deserve it."
He nodded, and before he got into the car to leave, they shared one more look and then he was gone.
Not even ten minutes later, Bonnie was sitting with her legs crossed on her kitchen counter, going through her grimoire. Out of every room in her Gram's house, she loved the kitchen the most. Probably because it always felt warm and she spent so much time watching Grams cook when she was a child.
Ever since the accident where she unexpectedly teleported, she had been taking it pretty easy; trying not to over exert herself. There were a few times where she slipped up a little and things got a little too overbearing, but Damon was always there to snap her out of it. But, Bonnie knew she couldn't hold back forever. She still had to learn to strengthen her magic and become one with it. She had spent so much time using magic for others, that it was going to take time to actually convince her magic that it was all for her. She had to gain its trust. She could literally feel so much power flowing through her veins to the point that she could practically taste it. For a moment, she didn't know if it had to do with connecting with Damon earlier or nature finally weaseling its way in. But to access it all, to understand it all, wouldn't happen overnight, and it also wouldn't happen if she didn't push herself. It was almost like going to the gym. You had to push yourself to get maximum results. And she needed to be able to do that with her magic.
Learning control, being one with nature, it was like a lifelong high. It was practically aspiring. She was already good, but she wanted to be great and then she wanted to be better. Mediocrity just wasn't enough.
The energy from the grimoire flowed through her fingertips, making her one with not only magic, but with herself. Magic was her. Something felt different about this time as she opened all of her senses. She could feel the chill of the wind that picked up outside, she feel the animals and the trees. She could feel it all and it was mouthwatering.
Then out of nowhere something hit her. The feeling was all too familiar as if she were spinning into an unknown oblivion; as if she were having an out of body experience. But then something changed. It felt like she was getting consumed by an unknown force. Glimpses of Caroline and her mom rushed inside her head, slamming against her skull, robbing her of breath. Her chest felt like it was tightening up, and for a moment she had no idea what to do.
Her eyes shot open almost violently as she looked around and realized she was on her living room couch. Had she teleported again? Her whole body felt heavy, and she could feel the warm liquid dripping from her nose.
Before she could even comprehend anything else, there as an urgent knock at her front door. She was able to glance at the clock, and it left her in a bit of shock to see that it had been two hours since she started dabbling in her magic.
That couldn't be possible because it only felt like no more than twenty minutes.
The moment she realized that she forgot to wipe the blood from her nose, was the moment Damon's face went from unreadable to worried as soon as she opened the door.
"What happened?" She could feel his fear… almost taste it.
"I'm fine…" she wiped her nose.
"Bonnie…."
"I'm fine." She snapped a little. She really didn't feel like getting into it with him again about her magic, and an added bonus was that she wasn't feeling too good. "A tiny spell just pushed back a little harder than expected."
"The only reason I've been okay and allowing you to do your witchy spells is because you promised you wouldn't push yourself too hard."
"How else am I supposed to learn, Damon? And y- you can't tell me how to do my own magic. We've talked about this before; you are not the boss of me."
"What if it were Kai that came in here and not me?" He asked, clearly still on a warpath. "He would have killed you and what then? Newsflash Bennett, without the other side, dead means dead."
She crossed her arms, clearly frustrated. "Well thanks to the protection spell you watched me put over this house, he won't be able to sneak in, now will he?"
Bonnie knew how Damon got when he thought she was putting herself in danger, but there was something else going on. The way he was acting right now seemed a little different than usual. She automatically wondered if he had done something with Elena and he was upset with that, and tried to pick a fight because he didn't know how to tell her.
But his next words proved her wrong.
"Liz Forbes was murdered tonight."
"It always comes as a shock. The moment you realize it's over. One minute, you're standing on solid ground. The next minute, you're not." –Grey's Anatomy
A/N: Okay, so should I dodge bullet for killing of Liz? At first I wasn't going to do it, but then I decided to go ahead and add that in there. I will not be following the cancer storyline, but I do have plans to go into what happened to her. So, hopefully I don't lose any readers.
Also, I know that in the show Bonnie's birthday is like a week before v-day, but hopefully we can look past that for this story, only because of how I had everything set up.
I do hope you all enjoyed the Bamon scenes, and I know there are ton of questions. We get to see sides of Bonnie like I said before that we don't get to see in the show. And trust me Bonnie & Damon will talk about everything. And even they both know that they're not just friends.
I will try my best to have part ii out by the end of the week.
Thanks for reading! Please review =)
