I only own my OC's
Normal POV, Prison One hour before the Normbot Control Center ambush
Katie and Phineas sat in their cell. The silence broken every once in a while by other prisoners claiming that they did nothing wrong and begging to be set free; to be returned to their families. They then heard the lock on their cell being fiddled with before the door opened and Ryan entered.
"Come to gloat about capturing us Lieutenant? About how you healed us, gained our trust, and fooled us into believing that you were against Doofenshmirtz?" Katie questioned as she glared at him.
"No, I'm here to try and convince you two to reconsider about not taking the pardon." He replied as he closed the door behind him as he stood at ease.
"The answer is still no, especially since we can't be bought to sell out our friends." Phineas replied.
"I'm sorry for turning you two in, I had no choice." Ryan replied sadly, the truth evident in his eyes.
"Keep your damn apology we're not accepting it. We will never forgive you." Katie stated as she stood up, continuing to glare at him.
Ryan hung his head in shame and said, "You have to understand that I didn't have a choice."
"There's always a choice Ryan, and you chose to side against us." Phineas replied as he stood up as well.
"The Colonel told us that you didn't want to go through with it, and how he bribed you into tricking us and turning us in." Katie stated harshly at him as her hands balled into fists.
"Is that what he told you? Katie, do you remember what I said to you just before you passed out from the drugs in the drink?" Ryan asked as he looked up.
Katie looked away in thought as she remembered what happened just before she passed out.
"Like I said, my family's safety comes first; this will ensure that they won't get hurt.I'm sorry Katie."
"You said that your family's safety comes first and that our capture would ensure that they wouldn't get hurt." Katie replied as she remembered.
"That's what the Colonel bribed me with; he bribed me with my family's lives. He threatened to personally shoot my mother in the back of the head, forcing my sister, and me, to watch. Then shoot my sister in front of me, making me live with those memories for the rest of my life as I sat in prison. You tell me if I had a choice now Phineas; and you Katie yell at me for taking a bribe." Ryan stated harshly as he looked at them, his eyes beginning to water.
He turned around, wiped the tears from his eyes and continued, "I didn't lie to you about hating Doofenshmirtz, but when you're in this army you can't speak out against him otherwise you get sent to reorientation."
"What's reorientation?" Katie asked.
"This." Ryan replied as he turned around and lifted his left sleeve showing them his arm, "Basically if you don't agree with something you're strapped to a chair and tortured until you, 'Correct your ways.' That's why my arm is burned and scared."
"So, then if you hate Doofenshmirtz and have spoken out against him; how are you a Lieutenant; let alone a member of the new army in the first place?" Phineas asked.
"I didn't have a choice in the matter, I was drafted." Ryan replied.
"That still doesn't explain why you're an officer." Katie pointed out, as she crossed her arms.
"The Colonel… saw potential in me and assigned several soldiers to my command. I learned later that one of these soldiers, a girl named Michelle, had… disagreements with the views of the army. When I found out, I told the Colonel, who responded by saying, 'Deal with her as if she were a traitor.' Well the only way to deal with a traitor, is to execute them." Ryan explained.
"You killed her, just to prove your worth?" Katie said with disgust.
"Killed? I didn't kill her, I faked her death." Ryan replied.
"How?" Phineas asked.
"I helped her escape and told her to head for the woods nearby, but I didn't tell her the second part of the plan. I quickly assembled a squad and tracked her down just before she entered the woods. She surrendered and I told her to get on her knees, I then shot her in the back. What she, or the men that I brought with me, didn't know was I had tweaked my pistol a little, making the beam look fatal but would only knock her out. In the end, I had witnesses to back up my claim that she was dead and her body was left where she fell. I knew she would wake up a few hours later, and be free; to a certain extent. To the Colonel, this proved my worth and I was promoted to Lieutenant." Ryan explained.
"What makes you so special?" Katie asked.
"What do you mean." Ryan replied as he crossed his arms.
"Why are you so important that even though you've been drafted, known to speak out against Doofenshmirtz, and defy your commanding officer; you were promoted to Lieutenant. Also why are you telling us all of this?"
Ryan hesitated to answer before he replied, "Let's just say I know the Colonel personally. To answer your second question, I want you to know that I'm not like the other soldiers. I hate everything to do with Doofenshmirtz."
"Then why help them, why not get out?" Phineas questioned.
"Like I said, he threatened to kill my family and I won't endanger them because of my actions. I won't be responsible for their deaths, and there's no safe place to hide them." Ryan answered.
"Then let the resistance help you, we can hide and protect them." Katie pleaded.
"No, you can't. The resistance will soon be crushed. Your friends will be captured or killed and soon no one will be left to rebel against Doofenshmirtz." Ryan said as he exited the room locking the door behind him.
Phineas and Katie both shared an uneasy look before sitting back down and hoping that Isabella and the team escape the trap.
