"Everyone just calm down! We will figure out what to do!" Alden said after he wiped his tears from his eyes. He was in his office and everyone else was huddled at the doorway practically holding each other "Moren killed the Black Swan and the Neverseen! What CAN we do?!" Fitz asked as he sat down next to his father.
"Excuse me! Is this thing on?!" a voice boomed throughout the house.
Everyone tensed up as they all recognized the voice of Moren Slade. Keefe, Fitz, and Alden were the first ones out the door ready to kill Moren but he was no where to be seen. They looked around when suddenly a steam image appeared in in the form of Moren Slade "Are you all receiving me?!" he snarled and that was when Alden realized "It's just the image, Moren sent this to every elf." he surmised and Fitz frowned "Why would he send this to every elf?" he asked.
Moren form solidified "That's better! Attention elves! My name is Moren Slade and as of right now I am your new king! The Council of Elves has fallen! They are all dead pray for one! Anyone who knows where the traitor Emery hides will be punished less! All of you who have been disgraced and ridiculed, the world is yours! Pyrokinetics! Hydrokinetics! Technopaths! Talentless! Rise up and take what is yours! You are free to take and do whatever you want! All I ask my dear citizens is your undying loyalty!" Morens image said with a grin.
Everyone gasped in horror at Morens words "Also...one more thing my new subjects!" Moren said with his smile getting wider. Everyone stopped talking and listened to the new king of elves "I want...The Ruewen, Vacker, Song, and Sencen families dead!" he said laughing hysterically. Everyone was shaking in fear now as Morens image vanished in a puff of smoke. It wasn't ten seconds later they heard a banging coming from outside and the roar of angry and scared elves.
Alden and Della ran out of the house and saw the large gates were shaking as the elves on the other side were slamming into it trying to get in. Alden gathered everyone "Come one everyone! we must hurry! Their is an escape hatch in my office because we cannot leap away!" Alden said and everyone started running into the house to get away...
Except for Della.
"My love we must leave!" Alden pleaded and Della shook her head "No Alden! They are searching for a Vacker! I will give them one. They will chase me while you all escape." she said with a determined look. Alden was crying "Della...please! We have lost two of our children! You are the one who has been keeping me together all these years!" he said as he fell to his knees and cried. Della knelt next to him and kissed her husband with love that could only be felt from the person that he truly loved. Alden cried some more as he they parted and pulled her into a hug "Goodbye...my love!" they both said as Alden let go.
He took one final look at the love of his life and then ran into the house with the others, Della took a deep breath as she looked back at the gate that was about to cave in. She had a few elixirs that Kesler had made her for emergencies. The gates gave a horrible groaning noise as they fell and crashed to the ground, hundreds of elves rushed in shouting and waving weapons. Della threw a few elixirs and they exploded and turned a few elves into rabbits or dogs, she threw another and a wall of ice shot out where it landed and slowed a bunch of elves down.
The elves were getting closer and she vanished in the light and reappeared at the entrance to her house "Come and get me!" Della screamed and vanished again. The elves rushed the house and many Pyrokinetics threw fireballs at the house and set it ablaze. Della ran through the burning house coughing at the smoke filling her lungs, she vanished and reappeared a few feet away. The smoke and dizziness was causing her powers to dwindle, she looked around saw a figure was moving towards her.
She rushed into the next room where the smoke was thicker and it would be harder to find her, she saw a window and opened it ready to make a break for it. She looked down and saw many elves were circling the house ready to kill her, she whimpered and ran out the room. She looked through the smoke, her eyes burning and her lungs screaming, and saw the figure seemed to be getting closer, she couldn't even tell if it was a shadow or the person themselves.
She ran into Fitzs room that seemed to not be very smoky as he had more windows open in his room and it was farther from the fires. Della ran under her sons bed and waited, she waited for what felt like hours and the only thing that was keeping her together was the fact that her family and friends made it out while she distracted the mob. Suddenly she heard voices and footsteps, the door flew opened and she saw two pairs of feet, they muttered something and then ran out of the room and out of sight.
She let out the breath she did not know she was holding in and scrambled from out of the bed and down the hall in the opposite direction the men went. She kept running through the twisting hallways of her home and her lungs kept burning with every step she took. She was heading for Aldens office and she could see the door when suddenly she felt a sharp pain pain in her leg, she screamed and fell to the ground, she had twisted her ankle from running so fast.
She was breathing heavily as she flew open the door and crawled towards the escape hatch that Alden had told her about. She saw the shadowy figure sitting in Aldens chair "Hello Della." the voice of Moren Slade rang in her ears. She saw him get out of the chair and his form appeared in the smoke, his grin wide and his eyes wild "I am truly sorry Della, I liked you! I really did! You were always so sweet and kind. Too bad it had to end this way." he said his voice dripping with excitement.
Della growled "Just get it over with Slade!" and Moren laughed as he raised his staff "So sorry!" he said not at all sounding sorry...
Then he thrust his staff down.
