6-4-14 - So I'm actually starting this author's note as I write this chapter. I'm only about 500 words in as I write this part. I'm super duber excited for chapter 9, which is the next chapter in case some of you have lost count. I have some of the best ideas ever. Okay… maybe not best ever. But it's going to tie up a loose end from like… chapter two or three, when Victoria has Skylar looking for a rock for her and the mystery person picks it up? That rock will play a small moment in the next chapter. So make sure you look for it… Okay, now I'm going to get back to writing this current chapter ;)
6-09-14 - So I just found out some news. I'm posting this chapter because I have to get an eye surgery. All I know is that I won't be able to see that well after the surgery, so that's why I want to get this up as soon as I can. The date for the surgery is June 27, so we can judge how well I got this out before hand.
6-11-14 – 6pm – THIS IS SO CHEESY! THIS IS SO FREAKIN' CHEESY! I'm literally yelling this out loud right now. I'm towards the end of the chapter, before the challenge actually ends. Let me tell you: the big war that happens, it was all a dream of mine. And I'm literally writing it how I imagined it. So you're seeing the inside of my mind. I like… no… love cheesy moments –insert heart here-
6-11-14 - 8pm - I write this as I upload the chapter. Aren't you proud of me? The last time I officially updated this story (official chapter, not the bonus material) was about 27 days ago. I got an update out in less than a month aren't you proud of me! And I just had a thought. Have you seen the cover photo for the story? I made it. Thoughts?
Disclaimer: I do not own the Total Drama series or most of the characters here. However, I do own May, Rinn, Rachel, and Whitney. I would say that I own Jonah, but he's not here anymore.
Last time on Total Drama Resort
There was a thief on the island. Everybody had their most prized possession taken from them. And nobody knew who the culprit was. Even though everybody had an inkling that it was in fact our beloved hostess that we all know and love.
The challenge for last episode was to be done in pairs. The catch? Each member of the team was paired with somebody from the opposing team. Sorry everybody, but there will not be a repeat of who was paired with whom. We don't love you that much. If you want to remember, then just watch the last episode… again.
Almost everybody was acting different and out of character for him or her own self. True showed no emotions. Banafrit couldn't see the light; the fog had not been lifted. Kole was still bitchy. And Sam stood up to Minya, who just happens to be May's new bodyguard! Now I have to watch what I say around her.
There were more catches: points were lost if you saw your item, didn't retrieve your item, or deserted your partner. Blake also had May tell him where his item was, along with Santana's, Jonah's, Sam's, and Victoria's. But it wasn't out of kindness. This domino fall caused the ultimate betrayal.
Jonah was tricked into throwing Sam's hat off of a cliff and into the fathom below because he thought it was Blake's. In the heat of the moment, Santana confessed her love to Jonah, but not before Sam came to the scene. Sam had watched her hat fall into the water AND Santana kiss her supposed boyfriend. Sam slapped Santana; she also later slapped Jonah.
We just love the slapping that happens here on Total Drama Resort.
There was another catch where Jonah was safe from a vote, and the vote was down between Sam and Santana. But thanks to Jonah being a total hero, he chose to leave the resort. Isn't that sweet?
Ah well!
But after a much needed cry from May. And a suggestion from Rinn.
Total Drama Resort is back for an all new episode and an all new challenge.
How well does everybody know about each other?
How is Sam acting around Santana while they catfight? Mrrow.
What is all of this commotion about a toast war?
I have no idea, but you all will!
So tune in for the next exciting episode of:
TOTAL… DRAMA… RESORT!
"Wha'cha doing?" Skylar asks, looking over Fabian's shoulder. He sits at the picnic table just outside of the cabins. The sun hides behind the clouds and gives a gloomy overcast. She peers over his other shoulder. "Wha'cha doing?
Fabian turns the page of his book and continues reading. "What do you think I'm doing?" he asks her.
She leans further over his shoulder. "That's not your usual notebook and you don't have a pen, so you're not writing," she says.
"Observant," he says.
Her brow furrows in irritation. "So wha'cha reading?" she asks, changing her questions.
A slight smile appears on Fabian's face. "A play," he comments. He closes the book and shows her the title.
Skylar's eyes widen in amusement. "I love this play!" she says as she plops down next to him on the bench. Her smile is wide. "We had to read it one of my classes last year and I absolutely adored it!"
"Same," Fabian replies. He glances at he and quickly opens the book back up, continuing to read it.
"So," Skylar starts, leaning closer to him so she can look at the book, "can I read with you?"
Fabian shakes his head. "I'm sorry, but I'll have to say no at this point. I find it hard to read with somebody else. The difference in reading speeds is quite dreadful."
Skylar's smile slowly fades. She stands up from the table. "Oh, okay. I understand," she says.
Fabian looks at her. "Wait, I didn't mean it like-"
She smiles wearily at him. "Just let me borrow it when you're done," she says before walking away.
Fabian watches her walks away and slumps over onto the table, losing his page. "This sucks."
Island Cabana Cam – "I have a hard time talking to people," Fabian says. "I never want to hurt them, but I usually do."
Island Cabana Cam – "I hung out with Whitney!" Skylar exclaims. "But she's still crying about her necklace. I asked Rinn if we could go into the kitchen to make a new necklace, but she says that there are no colored noodles."
Banafrit pulls the thread through one of Whitney's dresses. Once she checks the snugness and durability of it, she knots it and cuts the thread. She folds it and places it next to her on the blanket.
"Finished with that one!" she cheers. She leans back and lays on the blanket, staring up at the sky that peaks through the trees.
"You're really good at sewing," Sam says. She stops writing and puts the eraser of her pencil up her mouth, tapping the edge of it. "I need help with a rhyme."
"What kind of a rhyme scheme do you have?" Banafrit asks, pushing herself up look at her friend.
"I'm going for an AAA, BBB, CCC, and so forth," Sam says. "But I'm already stuck on my third B."
"Tell me what you have so far!"
Sam stares at her notebook. "Here on Total Drama Resort, I thought I couldn't get hurt, but a girl proved this to be the worst." She pauses and takes a deep breath. "She was mean to the core, a complete and utter-"
"Sam, I really don't think you should write that," Banafrit quickly interjects.
Sam pouts and glances at the notebook. "Are you sure because I think she-"
"Santana, right?"
"I think this is true about Santana. She definitely deserves this," Sam continues.
Banafrit sighs. "We just lost Jonah. Let's try to keep the peace for now, okay? You're not mean-spirited like that."
Sam rips the page out from her notebook, crumples it into a ball, and stuffs it into her pocket. "Fine, whatever you say. You're right. I won't stoop to her level."
Island Cabana Cam – "Even though I completely want to," Sam says.
"Have ya seen how Rinn 'as been hanging out with us contes'ants lately?" August asks.
Oliver changes the channel on the television. "Yeah, it's weird. But I like it," he says. "It's nice to see the hosts interacting with us." He stops pressing buttons and stares at the boring news station.
"This is boring!" Rachel cries. She's sitting on the opposite side of the couch from Oliver. "Who watches the news?"
"I do! I like knowing what sweet stuff has been accomplished!" Oliver argues.
"Well I don't," she exclaims. She angrily blows a tuft of her blonde hair out of her face. "Can't we watch something with a little more drama? Or even a story line?"
"If you don't like it, then go away," Oliver says.
"Oliver," August warns. "Tha' is not a way to treat a g'rl."
Oliver sighs and starts to rapidly change the channels again."
"Ah thought you said it was cool for the hosts to interack with us," August points out.
"But she's not a host," Oliver counters. "She's only an intern and isn't even that awesome at it."
Rachel grunts in frustration and throws a pillow at Oliver. This causes Oliver to stop changing the channels and have the television land on a sappy drama where the two main characters continuously kiss. Her eyes widen in happiness and she leans back into the couch and watches the show with full attention.
Oliver watches the two characters kiss again. His eyes fill with tears. "Why can't May hang out with us!?"
Island Cabana Cam – "He is still tot'ly obsessed with May," August says.
"Knock knock," Rinn calls out as she knocks on the door to the Dancing Serpent side. She waits for somebody to respond, but there is no response. She frowns and knocks again. "I said knock knock," she says. Again no answer.
A couple chords on a guitar informs Rinn that somebody is in the cabin. Her face scrunches in irritation as she grabs the handle of the door. "I'm coming in!" she calls out.
She opens the door and glances out and only sees Gavin sitting cross-legged on the floor. A guitar sits in his lap and a pad of paper is off to the side of his leg. His eyes are closed as he adjusts his fingers over the strings.
He strums and a smile appears on his face as he opens his eyes. He quickly takes a pencil from behind his ear and scribbles on the notepad. He glances up at Rinn and lazily smiles at her. "How are you doing, Miss Rinn?"
She smiles slightly at him. "Are you writing a song for your guitar?" He shakes his head, and she looks at him quizzically. "Then what are you-"
"This is Blessing the Second, my bass," he announces, patting the side of the instrument.
"Oh… well, I'm sorry to bother you," she says, turning around to the outside. She pauses and turns her head towards him. "I almost forgot. Can you tell me-"
Gavin gestures his head towards the girl's cabin. "You're going to want to go over there," he tells her.
Her eyes widen in embarrassment. "H- how did you know that?" she stammers.
He shrugs. "It's a gift," he chuckles. "Now if you excuse me, it's time for some miracle making."
"Bye!" she says, turning back towards the door and walking out.
"What the hell do you want?" Kole asks. He stands in the doorway to the Singing Vixen boys cabin with his arms crossed over his chest. His eyes narrow as he stares at the guy on the bed.
Blake is sitting on the bottom bunks of one of the beds. He smirks and gestures for him to enter the cabin. "Come on in, my dear teammate. Like it is my cabin, it is also yours. No need to be afraid."
Kole walks in and lets the door slam behind him. "No kidding. Now tell me what you really want. I know that you wouldn't talk to me unless you wanted something."
Blake brings a hand to cover his heart. "It hurts me to think that you think I'm being deceitful. Why would I do something like that?"
Kole sits opposite of Blake on the other bed. "Because I have come to know the dick that you are."
Blake laughs out loud. He fakes wiping a tear away from his eyes. "I seem to have underestimated you, little guy." He rolls his eyes and glances at Kole. The smaller boy clears his throat at the apparent new nickname.
"Let's get down to business then…" Blake leans forward so he can get closer to Kole. "I know what you did to Whitney's prized possession."
Kole's eyes widen but he keeps his composure. "I don't know what you're-" He pauses when he sees a smirk appear on Blake's face. "I forgot. You've bribed May to the point where there's the potential that you can look at all of the footage recorded on the island."
"And the short man gets it!" Blake announces. "We have a winner." He snorts and leans back again so he sits upright. "Or should we say a loser of friends?"
Kole pales. "Please don't tell Whitney," he pleads, finally losing his dignity. "Please! I-" He pauses, not knowing what to say. He takes a deep breath. "I really need her and I don't know what I would do without her."
"Then why did you go and break her macaroni necklace. She loved that thing. I remember how she cried when she broke one little piece when we first arrived on the island," Blake says.
"Just please don't. I'll do anything," Kole begs.
Blake grins. "Perfect."
Island Cabana Cam – "For the record, I don't plead or beg for anything," Kole says. "I thought it would just be funny to toy with Blake." He sighs. "But I really don't want to hurt Whitney."
"True, we shouldn't come back here now," Destery says, glancing around.
"They cleaned up all of the breakfast items and I want a muffin!" she cries. She grabs the door to the hotel's kitchen and swings it open so that it slams into the wall.
"But if we're going to do this why is Santana coming with us?" Destery asks following her in.
"That fruit out there is canned, not fresh. I want fresh fruit. Is that a problem?" she asks, quickly scampering through the doorway before the door can hit her.
"When it comes to food, we are all allies!" True cries. She strikes a dramatic pose, pointing her finger up at the ceiling.
Destery stops behind her, and Santana continues walking, passing the contortionist. "Such energy, much work. Hell no," she says.
"Wait, Santana, you need to stop! They're going to see you," True calls out, reaching for the rich girl.
"What do you mean they're going to-" Santana is interrupted as a piece of burnt toast comes flying and hits her in the face. The toast falls to the ground and she wipes the crumbs off of her face. "Ew! These are-" she is interrupted once again by another piece of toast. The force from the toast knocks her to the ground.
"Santana!" True calls out. She dodges a piece of toast that flies at her.
Her eyes widen when an abnormal amount of toasted products come flying at the True and Destery. True does a back flip and dodges the all of the toast before they hit her.
"True, what is going on!?" Destery cries, cowering under his hands.
"The Toast Overlord is here!" she reveals. "We have to abandon getting the muffin. Abort, abort. Destery, grab Santana and I'll clear a path for us to escape!"
"What are you talking about?" Destery asks, turning towards the contortionist. However, she has already fled the room and the door to the kitchen is wide open. "True?" he asks.
Rinn walks in to the Dancing Serpents girl's cabin. There are three bodies – Jericho, Harlem, and Victoria – in the room. Each person is in their own corner of the cabin, reading a book.
Jericho is closest to the door. Rinn plops down next to him. "So what are you reading?"
He drops the book at the sudden voice talking to him. "I wasn't expecting you here," he says.
Rinn grins. "Exactly! So what are you reading?"
He shows her the cover of the book. "It's a book of poems. It's by-"
Her eyes widen. "It's by that one author! I loved reading this!"
"Can you quiet it down a bit?" Victoria asks. She holds her book in front of her and looks down at the girl from the top of her bed. "Something is going to happen in here real soon, and I-"
Rinn jumps up from her spot and scurries over to the bed, peering at the cover. "Is that the book about the different groups of people?"
"What do you mean?" Victoria asks, turning her head to the side.
"The one that was just turned into a movie! Is it that book?" Rinn asks.
Victoria blinks. "You know this series?"
Rinn nods. "Know it? I love it! Hey, can I-"
"Please pardon my intrusion," Harlem asks. She closes her book and sets it beside her. She glances at the host from her spot on the bottom bunk. "May I inquire why you are here?"
"May's prepping a challenge for today," Rinn says. She groans. "And she doesn't want me to help."
Harlem nods. "Thank you for coming and being with us then. It is delightful to continue spending time with you."
"Thanks, and I-"
The speakers on the island blare to life. "Hey everyone! Miss me? I know some of you have. Anyways, it's challenge time. Meet me outside of the cabins in five minutes. If you're late, then you have to do my laundry," May adds with a giggle. "See ya'll soon!"
Jericho looks at Rinn. "What were you gonna say?"
Rinn shakes her head. "No, it's nothing." She waves at the guys. "I guess I better get going. May will want me there first. See you guys soon. If you don't hurry, you'll have to do her laundry."
"Thank goodness that we are already at the cabins," Harlem says. She stands up from her bunk. "We shall see you quite soon."
"Bye!" Rinn cries, running out.
Island Cabana Cam – "Victoria's book took Rinn away from me," Jericho says. "That really sucks."
Island Cabana Cam – "It's nice to know that a host likes the book too," Victoria says. "However, if Harlem and Jericho weren't there, I wouldn't have to act so sweet with her. She knows how I can be." She groans. "I really do hate people."
Everybody arrives almost at the same time. May is at the front of the half circle that is forming in front of her. Rinn stands beside her with her hand held behind her back. Skylar drags the lifeless Whitney towards the group. True, Destery, August, Oliver, and Rachel all arrive last, each person out of breath. August carries Santana on his back.
"You can put me down now, August. I wasn't hurt that bad." August sets Santana down and she nods her head."Thank you," she adds. He returns the nod.
May grins when she sees the group that just arrived. She glances over at True. "Let me guess… the toast got her?"
True's hazel eyes widen in shock. "So you know about the Toast Overlord too! Is that why you're so corrupted?"
May frowns. "I'll ignore that little remark of yours." The frown is quickly replaced by a smirk. Rinn notices this and quickly covers her ears. May brings her arm up and reveals a megaphone. She switches it on and holds it up to her mouth. "Can you all hear me?" she asks.
Everybody, Rinn include, wince at the sheer volume of her voice. Some people gasp. Other people shriek. Banafrit immediately falls to the ground and begins crying, covering her ears with her hands.
The host stands triumphantly with her hands on her hips. "I love me some afternoon pain!" She brings the megaphone up again, but it is quickly snatched away by her sister. "And what was that for?"
"Don't forget that we're held accountable for anything harmful that happens on the item. If somebody loses their hearing, we're sued," Rinn explains. Her eyes narrow into tiny slits. "Besides, I don't appreciate almost having my ear drums blown."
"You're such a party pooper! I wouldn't let anybody go deaf. Except for you," May adds, quiet murmuring. She innocently twiddles her fingers when her sister throws a deadpan look at her. "Anyway," she starts, quickly adverting from her previous antics, "it's challenge day! Woot! To know thy team is an important feat. A strong team allows for easier wins in challenges and less drama. The Singing Vixens, Santana and Sam, especially know of this. Don't you, girls?" she asks, wiggling her eyebrow.
"You know what Santana did last time, right?" Sam comments.
"You know nobody cares, right?" Santana challenges from where she's at.
Sam turns towards the girl, her hands clenched into fists at her side. Santana stands on the opposite side of the crowd, not even blinking an eye at the shorter girl's glares.
"So for this challenge, you will need to do a little team bonding. Sometime later, I will sound the buzzer allowing you guys to answer the facts that you have learned about your teammates. If you learn anything about the opposing team, you can answer the questions that are about them. The only catch is that you will not be penalized for incorrectly guessing, so guess away!"
"So when does this stupid challenge end?" Blake asks. "I have better things to do then get to know how Banana Monkey here became the atrocity that she is," he says, shrugging his shoulder at Banafrit.
"Hey! Don't call me Banana Monkey!" Banafrit tells him from the ground, her voice still catching her tears from earlier. She stands up and actually glares at him. "Besides, we don't want to know why you're such a jerk anyway," she proclaims, turning her attention away from him and towards the host.
Island Cabana Cam – "And the tension already builds," May laughs. "I love this so much!"
"So the challenge will finish when I sound another buzzer, much later, even if only one time answers the questions. Even if all the answers happen to be incorrect," May says. "You'll know where to look for the questions because victory is beyond the battlefield."
"Awe," Skylar cries, "What's with the riddle? Can't you just tell us where to search?"
Victoria crosses her arms over her chest. "May wouldn't do anything to help us."
"Exactamundo!" May says. "So the challenge will start on my signal. Choose carefully about how your team bonds." A flash of a smile crosses her lips stands straight. Her eyes glance sideways at her sister and then at the megaphone that her sister holds. "One…" May shifts and takes a step towards her sister. "Two..." May drawls. She slowly grabs the megaphone from her sister's hand, careful to make sure that she doesn't feel a thing. "Three!" she yells, quickly pressing and holding the horn of the megaphone.
The same reactions from earlier are shown. Everybody's hands fly up to cover their ears this time. People still gasp and shriek. A long horrified scream emits from Banafrit as she falls to the ground with a heavy thud.
Island Cabana Cam – "I wonder if my dear sister remembers Banafrit's fear of loud noises?" Rinn asks. She scratches the side of her head as she sighs. "If she does then she's a real meanie, playing with people's fears and such."
True watches as he team stays in place after May dismisses them, talking about the plan of action should be. She rolls her head around, looking at her surroundings. Her eyes land on her shirt and she sees crumbs on them. She runs her finger over them and inspects them. Her eyes narrow. "Guys, I can't partake in this challenge!" she announces.
Everybody stops talking and they glance at her. "What's going on, sister?" Gavin asks.
She takes a deep breath. "You heard May! The Toast Overlord is here on the island!"
"The Toast… Overlord?" Jericho hesitantly asks.
"He's my old nemesis! He controls any and all kitchen appliances. And he's here!" True explains. "I can't just sit back and let him hurt people. He got Santana earlier, and he almost got Captain Des Des and I!"
"True…" Destery murmurs her name.
"I have to go fight him. I'm sorry, guys," True says. She walks pass the group, going towards the path that leads to the resort.
"Wait, True!"
Before the contortionist can turn around, Destery places a hand on her shoulder. "I will stand by your side." True smiles.
"I shall join on this expedition too," Harlem speaks up. "Food is a necessity that should be enjoyed and not feared." She walks over to the pair and nods.
Skylar stands in her spot, contemplating to herself in deep thought. Many emotions can be seen running through her mind as she groans, shakes her body, flails her arms, and glances around. "Fine! I'll go too!" She joins the group. "I just hope I won't regret it," she murmurs.
"It seems I shall be joining too," Fabian adds, striding to the group. "It would not be in our favor to be overrun by maniacally burnt bread." Skylar frowns.
"I want to go too, but we have a problem," Victoria interjects. "We still have this challenge. What are we supposed to do? Can't this Mr. Toast wait until tomorrow? Or later on tonight after the challenge?"
True solemnly shakes her head. "No. The Toast Overlord won't wait for anything. And we have to think about the people that cook the food. If they go in there, the toast will attack them."
Jericho's eyes perk up at this. "True's right. We need to stop this Toast Overlord! And the challenge… what should we do for it?"
"I can look for the questions when the time comes," Gavin volunteers. "I know enough out of my brothers and sisters that I know who is who. I'll also have you all in my mind, and I know you all will give me the blessin' to correctly do this."
True gawks at Gavin. "Are you sure?"
Gavin grabs her by the hands and nods. "Of course, sister. Just make sure the Toast Overlord doesn't hurt anybody."
"Wait!" Victoria calls out. "I'll go with Gavin. As much as I want to help, I want to keep somebody from our team going home."
"Okay," True says, smiling.
"Shall we venture forth?" Harlem beckons to the girl. True nods and the group goes off to the resort.
"Good luck!" Victoria cries, waving her hand.
Island Cabana Cam – "And if we can't find the things, everybody will know that True goes home because she has to fight toast," Victoria remarks, studying her fingernails.
Island Cabana Cam – "Jericho only wants to go and fight the Toast Overlord because Rinn cooks a lot of the food," Gavin comments, smirking to himself.
Island Cabana Cam – "I hope I don't get crumbs on me!" Skylar whines. "I hate being dirty."
Island Cabana Cam – "I have to make up with Skylar because of my inappropriate behavior," Fabian says. "I know that it still bothers her."
"So what exactly is our plan going to be?" Blake asks. "We have one overstuffed chick passed out, two cats scratching one another in a fight, and a crybaby who is heartbroken over macaroni. Not to mention a guy who has a secret to keep if he doesn't want to break anymore hearts," he snidely adds, shifting his dark eyes at Kole.
"We are not scratching at one another!" both Santana and Sam cry in unison.
"Santana is just mad that Jonah likes me," Sam says.
"And little Miss Bookworm is still pissed that I kissed her boyfriend," Santana snidely says. Sam's eyes widen behind her glasses. Santana chuckles as she turns away from the girl. "And I'm sure he liked it."
"That is it!" Sam cries. She jumps at Santana and the rich girl shrieks when the bookworm collides into her.
The hipster adjusts his lens-free 3D glasses and shifts his weight to one foot. "Really? They're actually fighting now and you're bringing unnecessary stuff up!" His irritation causes him to place a hand on his hip. He returns Blake's dark gaze. He glances away when Blake scowls at him. "Whatever. By the sounds of what May is saying, we'll have to answer the questions on a piece of paper. Not out loud like trivia. This could give us an advantage."
"And how's that, tiny runt?" Blake challenges.
"I doubt the other team has realized this. But as long as we're all present, we can say which question matches with us. We can also guess for the opposing team," Kole explains. "It's not like we'll be penalized for incorrectly guessing."
"That's a good point!" Oliver says.
"Ah wouldn' 'ave realized that," August comments.
"What do you expect we do then?" Blake asks.
Kole turns towards the taller guy and looks up at him, his nose turned upright. "You really want to know?"
Blake looks down at him. "Are you challenging me?"
Kole shrugs his shoulder and turns away. "Nope. I'm just with Banafrit on this challenge. I don't want to learn about what makes you a jerk."
"You don't want to go against me. I told you to do what I wanted," Blake says. His voice lowers. "I will tell Whitney."
Kole looks at Whitney who is still standing by herself and still looking lifeless. "You already told me what you wanted me to do. I would've done it anyway. But I don't want to buddy up with you." He walks away and jogs over to the Latina. He grabs her by the arm and her head rolls towards him.
"Hey," he rudely greets. "You're coming with me and we're going to win this challenge." He roughly yanks her arm and he walks towards the cabins. She willingly walks with him. He pauses and she crashes into his back. He groans in irritation. "August, Oliver!" he barks. The two boys glance towards him, eyes wide with curiosity. "Break up the cat fight and get Banafrit in here. We're going to win this challenge." He starts walking again and roughly pulls Whitney again so she is walking once more.
August and Oliver exchange looks at one another. Oliver tightens him helmet and moves towards the two fighting girls and August strides over to the girl hiccupping in her unconscious state.
Blake's hands clench into his fists and his body visibly shakes with anger. "That damn runt…"
Island Cabana Cam – "Did you see how I stood up to Blake?" Kole asks the camera. His eyes are wide behind his frames. "And I took charge!" He flexes his hand, staring at his palm. "Is this what power feels like?"
Island Cabana Cam – Oliver sits in the cabana readjusting his helmet. He looks like a tattered mess; one of the black sleeves is torn and resting around his wrist. "This is why I wear a helmet! Guys back home, never ever get between two girls that are fighting!" He points to his wrist with the sleeve. "Do you see this? I don't even know what happened! It's just like they had to look at me and it ripped off in pure fear."
Island Cabana Cam – "So I still have a grudge against Santana," Sam says, rolling her eyes. She looks at the camera. "Is it wrong for me to feel that way?" she innocently asks.
True and her ragtime team stand in front of the door that leads to the resort's kitchen. Everybody holds forks and trays, taken from the buffet table. They stand in a line, shoulder-to-shoulder. True walks up and down the line, holding her hands behind her back.
She looks everybody up and down. "My name is True Manson," she starts. "And I see before me a small army of my teammates, here to fight the buttery foes! We have come to fight as a team. And a team we are! What will we do without our team? Will we lose or will we win?"
"But how many are there?" Fabian skeptically asks. "There are only six of us. We don't know how many there are of the enemy."
"I'm starting to get scared. Can't we just run stay clean another day?" Skylar asks.
"Guys!" True shouts back. "Fight and you may get dirty. Run and you will stay clean for a while. And getting dirty in the days to come by not fighting the enemy will make you look week. I know you! You would trade all the days from this day if you fled, just so you can come back here as we are now and the enemies we face now. They make take our cleanliness, but they will never take our ability as a team!"
Jericho leans over and whispers into Destery's ear. "Doesn't this speech sound eeringly familiar but still different."
"It's based on the speech from Braveheart," Destery whispers.
"Makes sense," Jericho says, nodding in understanding.
Harlem takes a step forward, breaking the line. "Commander True," Harlem says. She salutes to the contortionist. "When do we advance?"
True's eyes flicker with light and she glances at everybody else. "If you don't want to do this, then I understand. This is a perilous task. But if you wish to stay, I will thank you ahead of time. Move forward if you would like to battle in arms with me."
She waits and there is hesitation from the group, but everybody finally steps forward. True smiles and some tears form in one of her eyes. "Thanks you," she whispers. She turns towards Harlem. "Let us advance forward. Harlem, open the door!"
The Singing Vixens sit in the girl's cabin. Everybody is there minus Oliver and Blake. There is a knock on the door and Oliver slowly opens it. "Is it safe to come in? Is all the fighting done?"
Banafrit, who has her back to the door, turns around and nods. "Of course it's safe! Why would anybody be fighting?"
"Why did my shirt rip if nobody touched me?" Oliver remarks.
"Your shirt…" Banafrit pauses and tries to think. Apparently she had missed something while she was passed out. Luckily she had fallen on the grass and not on the dirt. She smiles at the daredevil. "I can fix your shirt, just like I did with Whitney's dress." Before the boy can reply she gasps and looks at the Latina that sits in the corner by Kole. "Whitney, I fixed your dress, but I accidentally left it in the clearing. I'll make sure to get it later," she promises.
The Latina's head turns from the spot where it lays on the bed. "Okay," Whitney murmurs.
Oliver sighs and walks into the room. He wears a new shirt. "Thanks, Banafrit. That does mean a lot." He pauses and glances around the room, taking a seat between Banafrit and Whitney. "I will admit: I'm scared to be by Sam and Santana while they're fighting."
"I won't fight with her right now," Santana says. "Winning this challenge is too important."
Sam holds her pad of paper in her lap, writing like earlier. "I'm just trying to finish this poem."
"Ah like poems," August says. "What are ya writin'?"
Sam clears her throat. "Here on Total Drama Resort, I thought I couldn't ge-"
"Maybe now isn't the right time to be working on your poem," Banafrit quickly squeaks.
Kole stands up from his spot beside Whitney and looks over the top of the bunk. "Can I see your poem?" he asks Sam. She hesitates and finally nods at it. He reads it and his face lights up. He bursts out in laughter. "This is hilarious!"
Whitney's head perks up and she looks over at the two. "Can I see it two?" she whispers loudly.
Kole's face lights up once more and he goes to hand it to the Latina, but Banafrit, who had stood up, quickly snatches it from his hand and quickly sits on the notebook. "I don't think that's the best idea." She ignores the glare that Sam throws her way. "That's not the best thing to be doing right now, Sam. Maybe we should… just talk…?" she suggests. "Just small talk so we can get closer."
Nobody jumps at the opportunity. Banafrit sighs. "I'll start, just-" she pauses, thinking to herself. "Let me think of what to say." She gasps. "I'll start simple: I grew up in Cairo, Egypt."
"You're Egyptian?" Oliver gawks. "That's totally sweet!"
"That explains the skin and the clothes," Kole scoffs.
Banafrit sighs with relief. That wasn't too bad. She looks up at the ground and her eyes shimmer from behind her magenta cat-eyed glasses. "Alright, who's next?"
Island Cabana Cam – "This… is actually pretty interesting. I learned that Sam doesn't like pop tarts," Oliver reveals. "Isn't that weird? Who doesn't like pop tarts?"
Island Cabana Cam – "Ah learned that Kole likes fashion and is fashion'ble 'imself," August says. "That's fashion?"
Island Cabana Cam – "Santana can cook?" Kole asks, raising an eyebrow.
Island Cabana Cam – "August is actually a pretty decent guy. He's such a gentleman and plays sports," Santana swoons. "Too bad that Jonah is the only guy for me."
Island Cabana Cam – "Oliver wears a helmet because he fell of a bike and scraped his knee." Sam pauses. "To each their own."
Banafrit looks over at the Latina. It seems as life had returned to the Latina, but she still acts indifferent, curled up in her own little ball. "Whitney, is there anything you want to tell us?" The Latina's eyes widen and she furiously shakes her head. Banafrit frowns, but quickly fakes a smile. "That's okay."
She glances around the room and sees everybody smiling, and a real smile replaces her fake one. "So I hiccup a lot," she admits.
"Ya do?" August asks.
"I remember that you would hiccup a bit a while back," Sam says.
"It's usually when I'm excited, but in a nervous way," Banafrit says. "I've gotten better at it, I'll admit." She breathes in deeply. "When I do hiccup, it sounds like I'm underwater. I also extend my E's a lot." She thinks back to her childhood and laughs. "My school actually though it was a speech impediment."
"Hiccups? They thought that your hiccups was part of a speech impediment? Now that's priceless!" Kole says, laughing loudly. "What happened with that?"
Banafrit's skin turns a dark shade of red. "I went to speeeeech therapy," she says. She hiccups as she speaks.
The people in the room begin to chuckle, Kole laughing the loudest as he howls. "That's perfect!"
"That's not funneee," Banafrit argues, hiccupping again.
Kole wipes at an imaginary tear. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be laughing. I just haven't heard of it before."
Banafrit frowns, her skin returning to her normal tone. "Alrightie then."
Silence fills the room. Everybody looks at one another, waiting for somebody to speak.
Whitney pulls her knees close to her chest. "I've been waiting for my dad to come home," she finally speaks up. All eyes turn on her and she glances down at her slip on shoes. "I'm originally from a small town in Mexico. I love with my mami, my sisters, and mi hermano," she explains. "We were never that well off, but we made it work, we were a family. But my dad had a problem. And he was scary."
The room stays silent. Nobody dares to speak. Whitney's eyes begin to fill with tears. She takes a shaky breath. "I… I would always cover up for him, because of my fear. My sisters and mi hermano still wait for him to come home. Mami cries at night, not knowing what to do." She chokes on a sob. "I secretly wish that he dies. It's because of him that I fear guys. It's because of him that I fear my own brother!" The tears begin to fall from her eyes and she breathes with shaky sobs. She buries her face between her knees.
Everybody stays still, not knowing what to do.
Banafrit stands up from her spot. She walks over to the girl and crouches in front of her. Banafrit takes a deep breath and faces her fears, pulling the girl in for a hug. She hesitantly places her hands on the smaller girl's back and rubs circles. "It's going to be okay," Banafrit says. "Nothing bad will happen here."
Island Cabana Cam – Santana glances sideways, afraid to look in the camera. "I feel really bad. I'm always asking her to do things for me and she has that sort of fear…" she murmurs in remorse. She finally glances at the camera and clears her throat. "It doesn't bother me. Not in the slightest!"
Island Cabana Cam – "Man, that was deep," Oliver says. "I didn't like listening to that at all."
Island Cabana Cam – "Banafrit faced her fear of touching people to comfort Whitney. I can't get past my own ignorance to comfort, let alone be nice, to the person I consider my friend!" Kole yells. He punches the wall of the cabana. "Damnit! I'm such a pathetic person."
Victoria collapses at one of the picnic tables in front of the cabins. Gavin follows behind her and leans against the table. She cries out in frustration. "Where could those papers be!?"
Gavin inhales deeply. "I'm sure we'll find it, sister. We just need to keep looking."
"But where?" she whines. "We looked in all the cabins, the bathrooms, and around the woods. We een looked on the beach!"
"Maybe we have to look further in the woods," Gavin suggests.
"The hosts wouldn't be stupid enough to hide them that hard. They want a show, not for things to be too difficult!" She bangs her fist on the table. "It's so hard!"
Gavin shifts and sits across from Victoria. He gazes at her. "You know, you don't always have to act so sweet."
Her head cocks to the side. "What are you talking about?"
"I can tell that you're not always as sweet as you act. You have a darker side."
Something snaps in Victoria, but she keeps her composure. "Whatever are you talking about, Gavin?"
"You get mad easily, but you keep it in. You should show your emotions more," Gavin says. "It's natural to be angry." Victoria blinks and laughs. Gavin stares at her. "What is it?"
"I thought you were going to say that I seemed like a mean person or something. I'm so relieved!" Victoria says. She continues to laugh. She stops laughing and smiles. "Thanks, Gavin."
He nods and smiles back at her. "No problem, sister." She lowers her head and rests it on the table. His smile disappears as he begins to think. "I wish I knew where this battlefield was."
"Batlefield?" Victoria asks, looking up. "What are you talking about."
"Sister May said that we'll know where to find the answers because victory is beyond the battlefield," Gavin explains.
"Beyond the battlefield?" Victoria asks. "But I don't get-" A buzzer goes off in the distance, signaling the start to answering questions. The buzzer acts as a light bulb to Victoria's thoughts. Her eyes widen. Her lips curl into a wicked smile. She watches as the Singing Vixens leave their cabin and head toward the beach. "We definitely have this challenge."
"This is a nice pad you got here, toots," Blake says. He walks farther into the room and jumps onto the bed, propping his feet up.
May's voice turns red from anger. "Get your filthy feet off my bed!" she yells, rushing back into her room. She goes to push Blake off her bed but he jumps off before she can. "Why are you here anyways?"
"Why can't we, the participants, stay in the hotel? These rooms are nice, and there are plenty of them," Blake whistles.
"Where's the fun and joy if you stay in a resort?" she retorts. "Now why are you here?"
"I already know that my team is going to lose. You gave it away in that stupid riddle of yours," Blake comments. He glances at the television monitor and sees a bunch of different cameras on it. "Nice set up you have." He watches it and sees his team leaving the cabin minus two people – Kole and Whitney.
"Is there any other reason you're here?"
"I need a guarantee that I won't be voted off tonight," Blake says. "Someone else needs to go."
"And why would I do that?" May skeptically asks, placing her hands on her hips.
"Because I know a bunch of bad shit about you," Blake proclaims.
The kitchen is in absolute mayhem. Pieces of toasts, bagels, pop tarts, and other baked goods lie all over the floor, along with the occasional kitchen appliance. The members of the Dancing Serpents hide behind a counter.
"How much more do we have to take?" Skylar yells. "There's too many of them."
"We have to defeat the Toast Overlord!" True says.
"And by overtaking the Toast Overlord, we win today's challenge," Harlem announces. As they fought, Harlem had figured out the answer to May's riddle and where the questions lay hidden. Somehow they were hidden in the kitchen, behind the area that the Toast Overlord called base.
"But how do we get to the Toast Overlord?" Jericho asks. "You haven't pointed him out yet, True."
True nods, ferocity in her eyes. "My nemesis is here. I know that he is. Once we find him and kill him, everything else should be defeated."
Destery's eyes light up in amusement. "It's like a video game! Kill the boss and everything else gets destroyed!" He readies his fork. "Let's get to it then."
"Do you want to get killed?" Fabian asks.
"Fabian's right. We need a plan," True says.
"And what would that be?" Destery asks.
Harlem and True exchange glances and they both nod in agreement. "We need to rush in," True says.
"Basically, we need two of you to run right in there and find the questions," Harlem explains.
"One," True quickly changes. "We only need one. I'll be the other one." Her eyes darken. "The Toast Overlord is in there and he's my kill!"
Harlem rubs at her temples. "No. We need two other people. You need back up, and we cannot comprehend what will happen."
Destery raises his hand. "I'll go. I'm not letting her go in there alone."
"Fine," Harlem says. "I shall stay behind." She glances at the three other teammates. "Which one of you shall go?"
The three exchange glances and Skylar goes to open her mouth, but Fabian quickly speaks up. "I would rather fight with Skylar." He glances over at Jericho.
"Yeah, man, that's fine with me," Jericho says. Both of the two miss the furious glare that Skylar shoots at Fabian. He scoots closer to True and Destery. "So when do we leave."
"Probably before they start to reform," Destery guesses. "I think-"
"Now!" True silently orders. She runs off and Jericho follows her. Destery tries to gather what had just happened and quickly races after them. Harlem, Skylar, and Fabian are all alone now.
"So what do we do now?" Skylar asks.
"There isn't much we can do," Harlem says. "We have to wait until we have a target."
Kole sits next to Whitney, but he makes sure that he's not so close. He doesn't know how she would react if his hand actually touched her or his knee bumped into her, especially in her current situation. Sure, she dragged her into the cabin, but she was out of it. But now, in this state, Kole feels useless and unable to do anything.
He glances over at the girl from the corner of his eye. Her body slightly trembles and her face is still hidden between her knees. He can hear something coming from her – he thinks that it might be more crying.
"Hey, Whitney," he says. He hesitates before continuing, "Are you okay?" He slaps his forehead. Really? That's the best that he can come up with. It's pretty pathetic. "Hey, Whitney," he repeats, reaching for her shoulder, "are you-"
He stops talking once he actually touches her shoulder and she look up at him. Her face is covered with both fresh and dried tears alike. He snatches his hand back and holds it against his chest. After nothing happens, Whitney continues to bury her face between her knees.
Kole stands up and stares at the girl. He eyes are filled with annoyance. He glances around the room and back at Whitney. He rolls as his. He grabs the closest bed sheet he can grab, not caring who the sheet belongs to and drapes it over Whitney's entire body.
Her head pokes up from underneath the blanket as she moves into a sitting position. Her eyes are wide with curiosity.
He looks down at her and scoffs. "You look ugly when you cry," he informs. He turns on his heel and heads towards the cabin's door. He opens the door and exits, moving off to the side and hiding behind the wall.
"What?" Whitney shrieks. "I am not ugly!" Kole snickers to himself. He just couldn't resist.
"And why is Whitney freaking out in there?" a voice asks.
Kole glances towards the steps of the porch and sees the rest of his team there. Banafrit stands with her hands on her hips. "Why is Whitney freaking out that she isn't ugly?" she asks.
"No reason," Kole says, smirking. "I just told her that she's ugly when she cries."
The girls gasp. Sam rushes into the room and Santana turns on Kole. "You can't tell a girl that she's ugly when she cries!" she yells.
"That's harsh, dude," Oliver says. He goes into the cabin, August following him.
"Whatever," Kole says, shrugging. "Did you guys find anything?" Banafrit shakes her head. Kole nods. "I'll go and check out the resort then. See ya," he says with a wave of his hand. He retreats back to the resort.
Before Banafrit can open the door, Santana blocks the entrance. Banafrit glances at her. "I need to talk to you… privately," Santana adds, her eyes shifting uncomfortably. Banafrit nods and the two girls walk off.
"Retreat!" Harlem orders. The enemy had finally come. She, Skylar, and Fabian had fought valiantly, but the enemy had come back with an even stronger force.
The three team members hide behind the counter once again. Harlem slowly looks over the edge of the counter and ducks again as a piece of toast flies by and narrowly misses her. It lands near the group and sits there. Harlem quickly stomps it over and over again before anything else can happen.
"What do we do?" Skylar cries. She breathes heavily, trying to gather her bearings.
"You take a break," Harlem orders. The girl's eyes glance downward and then they widen in realization. She opens the cupboards of the counter and takes out some of the pans and utensils. She pulls herself onto her knees and starts throwing the items she found at the enemy.
Skylar reaches for a pan to help, but Fabian grabs her arm. "You need to relax," he tells her.
"Why do you care?" she snaps. "We still need to help. True, Destery, and Jericho re still back there! And we don't know what's going on with them! I need to help!"
The two stare at one another, and Skylar's eyes narrow into a glare. She snatches her arm away and grabs the pan, throwing it over the counter at the enemy. Fabian frowns, but then reaches into his cupboard pulling out his own stuff. The three continue to throw items until they run out.
The three can hear the toast and appliances fast approaching. Skylar squeaks. "Oh no!" She turns towards Harlem. "What do we do now? We're going to be cornered."
"It cannot end this way," Fabian says.
A loud shrill cry fills the room. "Die you buttery fiend!" True cries from the next room.
Harlem tightens her grip on the forks that she holds. "You heard True, did you not?" she asks. She glances at the two and then jumps to her feet. "We brawl!" she yells, racing around the corner.
Skylar doesn't even think before she jumps up with her own utensils and races around. She quickly stabs a piece of toast that runs at her. She moves out of the way of a toaster and she kicks it. Her red Nikes do not cushion the blow of hitting a metal appliance. She yelps and jumps back, leaning against the counter and holding her now throbbing foot.
Out of the corner of her eye, she sees both Fabian and Harlem still battling. She glances ahead at the hoards of toast still coming, including the one now jumping at her. Her reflexes allow her to smack the toast away with her fork before it can hit her.
She sighs in relief. She settles her foot down, putting some of her weight on it. Now is not the time to writhe in pain. She continues fighting the toast that she does not see the piece that is catapulted out of the toaster and flying towards her.
Skylar beats her last buttery foe in triumph, throwing her fist up in the air and cheering to herself. She opens her eyes, just for them to widen at the sight of the flying toast to her. She stands still, like a deer frozen in the headlights. The toast, however, never hits her. She watches as it disappears behind a black blur.
The person that jumps in the way of the toast falls to the ground with a heavy thud. He lays at Skylar's feet. Skylar's eyes widen in horror. "Fabian!" she screeches. She falls to the ground, crouching beside him. She shakes him. "Fabian!"
Harlem's eyes widen from where she's at. She kicks a blue tray that lays on the ground by her feet over towards the pair. "Defend yourselves," she orders.
Skylar nods through teary eyes and picks up the tray. She uses it as a shield, holding it up to block Fabian and herself from the toast catapults. This goes on until all the toast suddenly falls over. The appliances in the room shake violently and also collapse over.
"This is over…" Harlem asks herself. She glances at the pair of the ground and runs over.
Skylar throws the tray away and shakes at Fabian. "Fabian, wake up! Why did you do that? Why did you let yourself get hit and get crumbs all over you."
Fabian's eyes flash open. "I couldn't let you get dirty; I know that you hate that. Being dirty, that is," he tells her.
"But you…"
Fabian shushes her. "When I recover, how about we read that play together?" Skylar nods and Fabian slightly smiles. His eyes close and his head falls to the side.
"No, Fabian!" Skylar cries.
Harlem pats Skylar reassuringly on the back. "I am confident that Fabian will pull through this. He was only hit by toast."
"But he's dirty now!" Skylar continues to cry.
True walks into the room with Destery and Jericho on her flank. She walks into the center of the room and glances around. "Toast Overlord!" she barks. "I know that you're in here!"
A low chuckle rumbles through the room. Jericho and Destery glance around. "What sort of trick is this?" Jericho asks.
A giant piece of toast, wearing a buttery crown walks into view. It is as tall as the teenagers in the room.
A scared gasp escapes Destery's throat. "The Toast Overlord is alive? What the hell is this?"
The Toast Overlord laughs again when his eyes land on Destery. "You did not believe of my existence? You are a pathetic excuse for a human." Destery complains at the comment, but the Toast Overlord holds a hand up to him, signaling for him to be silent. His dark eyes land on True. "Tell me, girl, what brings you back to defy me?"
"You're not going to be getting the people on this island. I will thwart your plans once again! Your evil plans to take over the world and force us to eat you!" True yells.
"Their plain is to make us eat toast?" Jericho asks.
"Yes! The breakfast of champions we are," the Toast Overlord brags. "However, you humans think that you have to do things to us. Peanut butter? Jellies? Nutella? All of this is blasphemy! Once we continue our reign, all you shall eat is toast with butter and nothing else."
"But Nutella is soooooooo good," Destery cries.
Jericho shakes his head. "I can't eat only toast and butter. That's just wrong."
"Exactly!" True cries. She twirls the fork that is in her hand. "Your expiration date is today, Toast Overlord!" she cries again, pointing it at him.
"And that was just too corny," Destery says with an exasperated sigh.
"Fine then, little girl," the Toast Overlord says with a sneer. "Any last words?"
True smirks but it quickly disappears. She gasps and quickly looks away. "Why is there all of that butter in the garbage?" she loudly asks, gesturing off to the side.
"What? My buttery brethren?" the evil foe asks, glancing towards where she pointed. Jericho and Destery look also.
"Die you buttery fiend!" she yells.
True runs towards the Toast Overlord with her fork outstretched. The Toast Overlord, discovering he had been deceived, charges at her as he unsheathes his buttery sword. Jericho and Destery scream and run out of the way, afraid to get caught in the middle of this war.
True waves her fork as it collides with the Toast Overlord's sword. She strikes hard at the sword, hoping to break the buttery stick, but nothing happens. The Toast Overlord is using frozen butter. She jumps back and throws her fork at the Toast Overlord, but he deflects it. He charges at her and True jumps over him, flipping in the air. While in midair, she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a couple of forks. She throws them at him and they lodge into his backside. The Toast Overlord falls to the ground, some crumbs falling off of him as he does. True gracefully lands.
She pulls a butter knife out from her pocket and walks over to the Toast Overlord. She quickly cuts off its crusty legs and arms, leaving him unable to move.
"Don't do this, girlie!" he yells at her. He thrashes around on the ground, trying to get away. "If you do, I promise I'll come after you."
"I think you won't." In a swift fluid motion, she cuts the Toast Overlord from one corner to the next. She grabs the sword and butters the toast. She turns towards her two comrades and grins triumphantly. "Justice is served!"
Destery gags and covers his mouth. "I think that I never want to eat toast again."
Jericho runs his hand through his hair. "This is crazy, even for May. C'mon, let's find the questions before we run out of time."
"Or before the Toast Overlord comes back to life," Destery says.
True giggles and jumps at Destery. "Silly, Des Des. Now venture forth to his throne! Surely the questions are there!"
Island Cabana Cam – A loud buzzer is heard going off in the distance. Jericho grins goofily. "Turns out the questions were there. Who would have thought?"
"So what's up, Santana?" Banafrit asks. They sit on the opposite side of the bathrooms on the grassy ground.
Santana shifts, uncomfortable. She tries to relax more, but it doesn't work. "I wasn't expecting Whitney to express something like that earlier," she finally says, rubbing her legs through her skinny jeans.
"It's nice to think that we actually bonded today," Banafrit says. "I will be honest, I never expected us to be a team." She pauses for a moment. "Well, with the exception of Blake."
"You took charge today," Santana says. "I'm impressed with you. Good job."
Banafrit is taken back by the statement and a small smile forms on her face. "Thank you, Santana."
There is silence between the two. Banafrit glances at Santana from her peripheral vision. Santana continues to rub up and down her legs.
"Being a rich girl isn't really a good thing," Santana finally admits. "You're probably thinking I'm crazy. I mean, I have it all: money, boys, material items, popularity, and looks. But…" she trails off and thinks about what to say. "People at schools only like you because of your worth, because of your name. We have workers. But they only treat you nice because it's their job."
"What… what do you mean, Santana?" Banafrit asks.
"I've overheard some of the workers, when I was about ten or eleven. They were saying bad things about me. It's from them that I learned to insult people. It's from them that I started to keep to myself," Santana explains.
"What about your parents? Didn't they do anything?" Banafrit questions.
Santana shakes her head. "Why would they? They were never around. They always left me at with a nanny or at a hospital!"
Banafrit slightly opens her mouth, shocked. "Santana, I'm sorry-"
Tears begin to form in Santana's eyes. "All I've ever wanted is friends. But I can't get past my egotistical ways! I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!" she screams.
"If it makes you feel better: I like you," Banafrit admits. "I wouldn't exactly call us friends because of our past differences, but I'm always one for second chances."
Santana wipes at her eyes. "Really?"
Banafrit smiles. "Of course. Just… tone down the fighting with Sam. Have a nice chat instead."
Santana nods. "I can do that. In fact, I'll go do it-"
A loud buzzer is heard going off in the distance. "And the challenge is over!" May's voice calls over the intercom. "And it seems that the Singing Vixens lose again, second challenge in a row. I'll be seeing you all in the bar. As for the Dancing Serpents: congratulations on winning the challenge and overthrowing the Toast Overlord. You all deserve a shower!"
The two girls look at one another and Santana laughs. "I kinda figured that we would lose since we gave up searching."
Santana walks in with her teammates into the resort. She walks pass the Dancing Serpents team, who all limp out of the cafeteria. Jericho carries Fabian. She blinks at this. "What happened to all of you?" she asks.
True and Destery exchange glances and they both grin. "Toast," they reveal.
The team laughs and they continue walking for the door. Santana takes her chance and grabs Harlem by the arm. "I need to talk to you later."
"And why is this?" Harlem asks.
"I know about the stuff that is happening on your team," Santana reveals. "Meet me after the elimination. Please?" she urges.
Harlem sighs. "I shall do this. I shall be in the television room until then."
Santana smiles. "Thank you."
"Singing Vixens," May greets, "welcome! I will be honest: I didn't expect you all to be here tonight. I honestly expected you guys to win because the Dancing Serpents were busy dealing with the Toast Overlord. But it makes me happy that you guys – most of you – actually did the challenge."
"So how well do you know thy team?" she asks. Everybody in the room begins speaking at once. Nobody can be understood. "And now I ask you all to shut up." The team obeys her and she cheers in glee. "This is wonderful. I feel as if I have the power!"
"May, just please continue this," Rinn says.
"Before me are non-alcoholic drinks made by my wonderful sister. There are seven drinks and only eight of you. As you can see, our intern Rachel is not here right now. She is currently at your guy's cabins, packing the belongings of the loser going home."
The people in the room gasp. "Are you guys legally allowed to do that?" Kole asks.
May laughs. "I've done it before. Why would now be different? Anyways, you all know the drill. When I call your name, come on down here and grab your drink."
She pauses. "Banafrit," she calls. Banafrit tumbles down to the front and grabs her drink. May smiles at her. "Good job today, Banana. I never expected you to be a leader."
Banafrit's cheeks redden and she hiccups.
"Oliver!"
Oliver runs down to the front and trips. May ignores this and continues. "August, Kole, Whitney!"
The people grab their drinks and May sadistically smiles at the people still left. "Sam, Santana, weren't you in the final two last time too?"
"But there's three of us," Sam points out.
Santana crosses her arms over her chest. "Get it right, May," she says.
"Why does everybody ruin my fun?" May shrieks. "Fine, I have a solution. Sam, get up here and grab your damn drink!" Sam quickly does as she is told. May grins a Cheshire grin at the rich girl. "Now you're in the final two again."
"Blake, you weren't with your team for this challenge. You abandoned them and wouldn't listen to anybody else's ideas. You invaded my room! That's enough to be here!"
"Wait! You were in her room?" Oliver loudly asks. "Dude, not cool!"
"Santana, you're a spoiled rich girl, but we all knew that. You continuously fight with Sam, you're a reason that Jonah left, and it seems that people on the team have a grudge against you."
Sorrow fills Santana's eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispers.
"The sorry isn't going to cut it," May says. "Blake, come and get your drink." Blake sneers and trots up to the front, grabbing his drink and swigging it down. Santana sits in her spot, dumbfounded. "Rachel should be at the dock with your belongings. You should go join her soon."
Santana stands up and taking a shaking breath. "Fine, I can do that. Just give me a napkin. And a pen."
May blinks. "Alright." She digs behind the bar and grabs the items. "I can do that."
Santana scribbles on the napkin and hands it to Banafrit. "Please, give that to Harlem. She needs to see that."
Banafrit shakes her head. "But I want to see you off."
Santana shakes her head. "I don't need to be seen off." She smiles at her team. "You guys did that today, and I feel better about myself. So thank you about that." She waves at her team and walks out the door. "I'll see you all sometime soon."
The Singing Vixens all leave the room. Whitney goes to follow the rest of her team out, but she stops when somebody calls her name. She turns around and looks at Blake, the only other person in the room.
Her eyes widen in fright. "What do you want, Blake?"
His fingers trail along the top of a chair. "I know what happened to your prized possession."
Her eyes light up. "You do! Tell me!"
"You should ask Kole. If he doesn't tell you the truth, I will."
Whitney smiles. "Okay! I'll go talk to him now!"
She bounds out of the room and sees Kole at the front entrance, waiting for her. "Kole," she calls out, running over to him, "Blake told me about my necklace!"
Kole's eyes widen and he looks down at the ground. He looks back up and his orange-brown eyes look into her big brown eyes. "I'm sorry, Whitney. He said he wasn't going to tell you."
She puts her hands behind her back and leans on her heels. "Well, he did," she cheerfully says. "So what do you have to say about it?"
"I didn't mean for it to happen," he says. "There were ants on it, and it scared me."
Whitney's smile disappears. Her eyes shift around. "What are you talking about?"
"I panicked. I found it during the challenge and I grabbed it, but I wasn't expecting there to be ants on there," Kole explains.
Whitney's eyes widen. "Kole, what are you saying?" she demands.
"Your necklace fell and it broke. I really didn't mean it!"
The bottom of Whitney's lips begins to tremble. "You broke my necklace?" she asks, her voice barely audible.
Kole reaches for her and grabs her shoulders. "I didn't mean to, I didn't-"
"I hate you!" she shrieks. She runs out of the resort as fast as she can.
Kole chases after her. "Whitney, no, please!" He stops running when he realizes that he can't catch up. "I'm sorry…" he whispers.
Island Cabana Cam – "I was the one that was going home," Blake admits. "Everybody voted for me! Even that little pipsqueak. But I got my revenge on him." He smirks. "Say goodbye to your friend, midget."
Harlem turns towards the archway when she hears approaching footsteps. "About time you got here, Santana, I was beginning to wonder when-" She stops when she sees Banafrit there instead. "Where is Santana?"
Banafrit frowns and hands a napkin to Harlem. "She got voted off. She wanted me to give this to you. I'll see ya later, Harlem. Have a nice night!"
The bigger girl leaves the room, leaving Harlem by herself. She unfolds the note and reads it. Her hands tremble as she does so.
