DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN TEEN WOLF I ONLY OWN MY OC'S
I pushed all the thoughts out of my head as I sped down the empty stretch of road, pushing the throttle as far as it would go. It can't happen, he's not good for you, he'll only hurt you in the end. It was all I kept thinking. I sighed as I pulled into the driveway.
"Where have you been?"
It was the first thing I heard when I walked through the door.
"Around." I replied as my mom entered the living room.
"The parent-teacher conference starts in 20 minutes." She informed me.
I looked at the clock on the TV and saw she was right. I sighed.
"Okay, the only reason I'm coming is because I have nothing better to do. I don't have any bad grades so I'm not required to go." I told her.
"Okay, but you should probably take your bike in case you want to leave early." She said.
"I doubt I will, but I'll take it anyway." I told her.
[PAGE BREAK]
I pulled into the parking space next to my mom when we arrived at the school. I got off my bike and waited as my mom got out of the car before we started walking towards the school.
"Okay, what's your first period?" My mom questioned as I held the door to the school open for her.
"My first period is English." I told her then proceeded to list off my other classes along with the teacher's names and room numbers.
"Okay, are you going to come with me or are you going to go find your friends?" She asked.
"I'll go find my friends. I'd rather not hear my teachers carry on about my behavioral habits." I informed her before walking away.
I ran down a mental list in my head of the people who might be here. I knew Stiles was here, but he was required to go to some of the conferences with his dad. There was still no word from Scott or Allison so who knows about them. Lydia definitely wouldn't come to this unless it was required of her. That left Danny and I had no idea whether or not he was here. I decided to wonder around and see if I'd run into anybody.
30 minutes and an unsuccessful search later, I was sitting on a bench outside the school playing Sudoku on my phone. At the sound of an angry voice, I looked up. I saw the Scott's mom was talking to his voicemail with a murderous look on her face. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Allison's parents quietly conversing with each other, irritated looks on both their faces. Melissa hung up then glanced around the parking lot once more. Her eyes settled on my and she called out my name. Sighing, I got up and walked over to her.
"Have you seen or heard from Scott?" She asked.
"Sorry Ms. McCall, I haven't seen or heard from Scott all day, despite my multiple attempts to get in contact with Allison or your son." I replied. She sighed and looked irritated once more.
"Maybe you could go talk to Allison's parents over there. Maybe they've heard from her." I told her. She nodded and thanked me as I pointed at Allison's parents and then approached them.
I returned my attention to my phone, but looked up when I heard yelling. I noticed Melissa and the Argents were arguing. Turning to the parking lot, my eyes widened when I saw Scott and Allison there. I quickly speed walked over to the car and pulled Scott's door open and poked my head in.
"You two are so dead." I told them. "Especially you Scott." I told him, and he didn't miss the double meaning behind my words.
I backed up and allowed Scott to get out of the car. I trailed behind the couple as they approach their parents.
"Where have you been?!" Melissa angrily questioned Scott.
"Nowhere, mom," He replied nervously, but mama McCall wasn't having any of that shit.
"Nowhere meaning not at school," She snapped. Allison tried to cut in and explain it was her idea and it wasn't Scott's fault but her parents dragged her away before she could do anything. I backed away from the families, giving them room to discuss their situations in private.
All of the sudden there was screaming on the other side of the parking lot. Everyone turned and looked in the direction of the scream. I had automatically thought it was the alpha, so imagine my surprise when I saw a mountain lion. It may not have been the alpha, but the alpha was definitely behind it.
The whole scene was a mess. Parents and students running around screaming, people desperately trying to leave in their cars, it was complete and utter chaos. Acting before thinking, I started to run towards the scene, towards the cougar. People were running and everything was moving so fast, I didn't even see the car until it hit me. I was lying on the ground, groaning in pain. The driver got out of the car and walked over to me and apologized. I couldn't even focus on what she was saying. The white hot searing pain was all I could focus on. Suddenly there was a blur of movement and a body pushed the female driver out of the way. Danny's face appeared in my line of sight. I was barely aware of what he was saying so I trusted him and latched my arms around his neck when he instructed me to do so. Danny wrapped one arm around my shoulders and the other under my legs, lifting me off the ground. I bit back a yell of pain that the sudden movement caused. I was now more aware of what was going on around me. Danny apologized profusely, sounding completely helpless knowing he can't make the pain go away. I nodded my head against his chest, letting him know it was okay and it wasn't his fault.
I looked to my left and saw Scott rush to Allison's side and pull her out of the road before she got hit by a car. I almost scoffed at him, everything was always about Allison. Danny hurriedly walked towards the school, obviously wanting to get there as soon as possible and get help, but not wanting to cause me any discomfort by running. Suddenly there was a loud gun shot. Everyone went silent, everything froze. I nudged Danny and told him to walk over to the scene. We got there and then I saw Papa Argent standing in the middle of the circle that the crowd had now created. A gun in his hand senses on alert. I then noticed the now dead mountain lion that had caused the chaos. The image of Chris Argent in action really put more things into perspective. This was a dangerous game we were playing. I was on the verge on unconsciousness, overwhelmed by events of the day and the searing pain shooting up my leg.
"Hey! No, no, no, come on Avery stay with me."
I was barely aware of Danny's voice yelling my name as I slipped into unconsciousness.

I woke up in a different environment. White walls, white sheets, white everything. I suddenly became aware that I was in a hospital and there was something weighing down on my leg. Don't tell me I broke my leg.... Lifting my head off the pillow, I looked down at the cast. At least it's my favorite color of blue. I thought absently. Sighing, I dropped my head back to my pillow and closed my eyes. When I opened them, I reached for the button to call the nurse into the room. A minute later Mrs. McCall appeared before me. She smiled warmly at me.
"Hey Avery, how're you feeling?" She asked.
"Like I was hit by a truck then thrown off a cliff." I informed her.
"Tell it to me straight, I like it." She joked lightly. I laughed softly.
"So what's the damage? Broken leg?" I questioned coolly.
"No, it wasn't quite that bad...But you did end up with a broken ankle." She said.
"Ughhh. How exactly is that "not as bad" as a broken leg?" I asked.
"Well for starters it doesnt take as long to heal." She laughed.
"Where are my parents?" I questioned.
"Your mom said she called your father and told him what happened before she left the school and told him to go to the hospital. However, your father insisted she come pick him up and drive back to the school saying, "She'll kill me if she knows we left her bike at the school." So they are on their way here now. In the meantime, I can help you get dressed so that you're ready to be released when they get here." She informed me. I laughed. My father knew me so well.
After getting dressed in some yoga pants, which had apparently been retrieved from my locker by Danny, and my shirt from earlier, I sat on the bed with my crutches and waited for my parents. There was a knock on the door and I saw Danny enter the room. I smiled letting him know I was okay. He hurriedly crossed the remainder of the distance between us and sat on the bed. He immediately pulled my into a crushing hug. I could tell he didn't like that I was in pain, but that didn't stop him from hugging me as hard as he could.
"Okay, Danny, I know you love me and everything but it's getting hard to breathe." I told him chuckling. He finally released me and apologized sheepishly.
"Thank you, Danny." I told him sincerely. "Seriously, thank you." He just nodded looking helpless.
"Geez….Danny….I know you don't think you really helped that much, but you definitely did more than that driver did." I told him looking into his eye before sneering. "All she did was apologize." I grumbled.
"I got her license plate number though." Danny informed me quietly, causing us both to start laughing.
"Okay," he started, "I gotta get home. I just came to make sure you were okay. My mom is probably freaking out right now." He chuckled.
"Okay, bye Danny." I said to him as he walked out the door.
"Get some rest. The faster that leg heals, the faster you can get back on those bars." He said over his shoulder.
No more than 30 seconds later my parents entered the room, followed by Ms. McCall, and rushed to me, crushing me in a hug.
"Guys, I know y'all love me and all, but can you please not crush me?" I said, laughing as they released me. My mom turned towards Ms. McCall and addressed her.
"Thank you Melissa for watching over her until we got here." She said gratefully.
"No problem, I know you'd do the same for me if it were Scott." Melissa humbly replied. I almost laughed. Yeah, I doubt my mom would ever get the chance to return the favor.
"Okay, I think we're gonna go ahead and get limpy out of here." My dad interjected, earning a glare from me. I grabbed my crutches and rose to stand on my good leg.
"Well your parents have already signed the release papers, so you're free to go." Ms. McCall informed me. I nodded and thanked her and then left the hospital with my parents.
[PAGE BREAK]
"Hey mom, can you stop by the store and get me some cushioned….stuff, I guess, to put under my arms when I use the crutches?" I questioned as we drove down the road.
"Already ahead of you," My mom informed me, "check under my seat."
"Umm, mom... I can't exactly reach under your seat with my current predicament." I told her lightly. My dad laughed and reached under her seat and got them for me.
"Thank you dad," I said gratefully.
"Yeah, yeah, you're welcome." He replied.
"Also, thank you for taking my bike home." I added. He laughed but didn't reply.
The car was silent for a moment before my mom spoke.
"God, our whole family is weird when it comes to accidents that end up in the hospital." She said.
I laughed. "And what exactly is that supposed to mean mom?"
"Every one in my family makes light of the situation." She informed me.
"One time when your grandfather was in the hospital, he had these electrodes on his chest and he said to me 'hey, you wanna see the nurses come running?' and without waiting for a response he put his hand on the electrode over his heart, making the heart monitor go all crazy." She informed me and my dad, sufficiently entertaining me and my father.
"Now Avery," my mom started, "because you have a broken ankle, you are now on mandatory bed rest." She said.
"Mandatory for who?" I asked sarcastically
"For me." She said sternly.
When we got home I had a little trouble getting up the stairs. My dad eventually got frustrated and carried me up the stairs and into my room. I thanked him and told him I was just going to go ahead and go to bed. After saying good night, he quietly left my room. I didn't even bother to change my clothes; I just changed into my sleep shirt and got in bed. I was about to put my phone on the nightstand when I noticed it was turned off. I turned it on and was surprised to find 10 missed calls and 27 unread texts. I sighed and looked them over. 6 missed calls from Stiles, of course, 2 missed calls from Scott, and 1 missed call from both Allison and Lydia. I then set out on going through the text messages. 15 of them were from Stiles, all containing questions regarding my current health state. I had 6 from Scott, telling me he was sorry, to which I was confused, and asking me how my leg was. The rest were from Allison and Lydia also regarding my wellbeing. I sighed and started a text that would be sent out to all 4 of them.
'I'm fine. Ankle's broken. I'm under mandatory bed rest until told otherwise.'
I sent the text and put my phone on my nightstand and finally went to sleep.
AN: Okay, that was the last part of this episode, next chapter-Heart Monitor. I don't know how long it will be until I update again. I hope it will be sometime within the next month. Also, I DIDN'T MEAN TO BREAK HER ANKLE, IT JUST HAPPENED! But on the plus side though, it gives me more opportunities for scenes with Derek! I meant to upload this on Christmas, but I decided last minute to go and change somethings in this chapter, so I hope you all had a good Christmas or whatever you celebrate. Also, Happy New Year! Anyway, as always don't forget to follow, favorite, and review.
