Blake's P.O.V.
When Weiss left the room, I sat and thought for a second. I wondered if Ruby was angry. Just then, Yang came back in with a plate of food. Setting it down next to my bed, she asked
"What was that all about?" I grabbed a cracker from the plate next to me and replied
"Ruby wants to talk to me. Apparently she just woke up." Yang nodded.
"I see. Want me to come? You look nervous." I shook my head.
"No. I promise I'll explain this whole thing when I get back, though." She looked satisfied. Yang left the room while I changed, and then came back in. I was wearing a loose dark purple t shirt and black leggings. Yang sat down in my bed as I left the room. I knew which room number was Ruby's, so I wandered a little bit until I found it. I walked in, and Ruby was spacing out, staring at the ceiling.
"...Ruby?" She looked at me, slightly startled.
"Oh. Hey Blake." I walked over and sat on the end of her bed.
"You wanted to see me?" She looked back up at the ceiling and sighed.
"Yeah. I... I don't know where to begin. I'm sorry for yelling, even though you weren't there, I know you heard me." I shook my head.
"You're right to be angry. I should have explained myself. I just got scared, and I didn't know what to do, so I ran." She looked at me with her large silver eyes that reminded me so much of her mother.
"Then explain yourself now. I promise I won't yell again, even though I'm still a little angry. I don't want to be angry, so maybe if you explain what happened it will help." I repeated my explanation to Weiss, the story of how their mother died. When I finished, Ruby's eyes were wet.
"So it wasn't your fault." I pulled my hands together in front of my chest.
"It was my fault. I could have done something, anything-"
"Blake. Stop. It wasn't your fault. She died as she lived, protecting someone who couldn't protect themselves. I can't be angry at you anymore, not after hearing that. Besides, you saved my life, even after you knew I was so pissed off. I can't thank you enough." She sat up and gestured for me to come closer. When I did, she gently wrapped her arms around me and hugged me. I tensed. The last person to hug me like this was my mother, and I barely remembered it. I gradually relaxed into it, though. After a moment, Ruby let go of me and we looked at each other for a moment.
"So," Ruby said, interrupting the silence. "Who's this Yang person Weiss told me about?"
As it turns out, "This Yang person" was right outside the door, eavesdropping. she startled both Ruby and myself when she came in.
"Right here!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air dramatically. She walked over to Ruby's bed and shook her hand. "Hello, Miss Schnee. Nice to meet you!" Ruby laughed at Yang's flair and said
"Just call me Ruby, please."
"Alright, Ruby. Now," she looked me. "Now that you two have got yourselves figured out, Who's gonna explain all of this to me? I know Blake doesn't want to tell me, but Ruby, if you would, I'd like to know exactly why I was spending my first day on the job saving this pretty Faunus over here from the burning building like a storybook hero." Ruby chuckled again.
"Well, about four months ago, I found Blake in an alley in downtown Vale. she was injured, and the only way I knew I could get my father to help her was if I had her as my pet." Yang cocked her head to the side.
"Ohh. so thats how that happened." I nodded, and let Ruby continue.
"a few nights ago, Blake accidentally revealedā¦" she looked at me, suddenly apprehensive, and I hesitated. I had just met Yang, could I really trust her? but then I found myself gesturing to Ruby that it was okay. "She revealed that she had been a member of the White Fang. she ran away, but then she came back and Weiss made her explain everything, including the weapon she'd apparently had the whole time." I smiled at the memory of Weiss' face on that particular evening. Ruby saw it and smiled for a second before continuing. "Then a few nights later, we discovered that-" I cut her off.
"Yang, hear me out. The reason both Ruby and I ran away that night was becauseā¦" I took a deep breath. "I killed Ruby and Weiss' mother." Yangs eyes widened with shock and she scooted back, away from me. Ruby came to my rescue.
"Yang, it's not what you think. When Blake was part of the White Fang, she was forced to kill a human, which was when she realized what was going on and left. My mother sacrificed herself to save a man's life." I looked down at my lap.
"But I still pulled the trigger." Ruby looked at me fiercely.
"Blake, I've forgiven you. now you need to forgive yourself."
"No, I can't. Even if your mom hadn't jumped in front, I would have killed that man. I could have refused, could have said something, done something. but I didnt." Yang scooted back towards me and put her hand on my shoulder.
"Listen, Blake. we've all done things that we regret. While I'll be the first to admit that none of them are as regrettable as killing someone, we've all been there one way or another. But think about it. Simply the fact that you are having such a hard time forgiving yourself proves that you aren't a monster. you're a normal person, with normal emotions and feelings, just like the rest of us." Woah. wasn't she flirting with me two minutes ago? when did this happen? I nodded.
"Thanks, Yang. I needed that." She grinned widely and gave me a huge hug, squeezing the air out of me. Ruby giggled.
"Yang, let go of her. you're suffocating her!"
"Oh," Yang said, letting go of me. "Sorry." I smiled at her and coughed a little bit.
"Just don't do it again." Yang frowned.
"Aww! But you're so cute! I can't help it!" I just rolled my eyes while Yang smiled and Ruby laughed for a while before a fit of coughing took her and Yang and I left so she could sleep.
Sorry this chapter isn't my best quality. I've been pretty busy with school and everything and working on this story plus all my homework and everything is stressing me out. I'm probably gonna put this story on hold for a while (I will come back eventually, I promise). I'll still post some short one-shots occasionally, though. Just thought I'd let you guys know
