Berk, Inside a room

They were supposed to go to Berk unnoticed. That certainly didn't work. Jack and Elsa ended up landing and speaking with the heads of their council, a few young adults, and the chief. Both Jack and Elsa had noticed that their chief looked awfully young. Then again, Elsa, too, was brought into leading her kingdom at a young age.

"What do you need from our village, sorcerers?!" An older man with a beard asked, yelling in doing so.

Jack sighed. "No need to shout, dude. We can hear you perfectly."

Elsa slapped his arm, causing him to wince. "Jack!"

"Yeah, I get it," he replied to Elsa before looking back at the vikings. "Look, we're just here to investigate."

"Investigate?" A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes echoed, her eyebrows furrowed. "What exactly are you two investigating?"

"Well, it's sort of hard to explain. You know, spirit lurking in the shadows, black sand beneath the soil, and a princess kidnapped isn't exactly something normal around here, huh?"

Elsa groaned. "Jack, really?"

"What? It sums it all up."

She sighed and looked at the rest of the people around them. "My sister's been kidnapped. We're searching for any clues that involve black sand or anything out of the norm in different places of the area."

"And how are we to believe you?" The chief asked.

"Take a look underneath the soil. See if you find that black sand we've been talking about," Jack said with a shrug of his shoulders.

A Few Moments Later

A man came back in with a handful of black sand. The people in the room were shocked. Black sand? How in the world did it get there? The chief had told some people to leave the room, leaving eleven people, including Jack and Elsa, in the room.

An older woman with brown locks looked at the ice mages. "What does it do?" She asked, referring to the black sand.

"Something you wouldn't believe," Jack said. "It's hard to grasp for a lot of adults."

"I agree," the Queen of Arendelle stood up and walked towards him. "It took me a while."

The Chief of Berk stood up, as well. "Who are you?"

"Are you witches?" A woman with blonde hair who was slouching slightly asked.

"Ooh! Can you turn me into a fish? I want to know what fish feel like," added a man who looked similar to the woman who had just spoken.

"Seriously, Tuff?"

"Jack Frost," he said, bowing playfully. "Spirit of Winter and Guardian of Fun."

"What?" A buff man with paint under his chin raised a brow. "That sounds-"

"Untrue? Unbelievable?" Jack interrupted. "Well, it's true."

"And you are?" A short man with brown locks asked Elsa, his lips curving into a smirk. He was attracted.

Elsa faked a cough before answering, "Since he used his titles, I'm Queen Elsa of Arendelle."

"Queen?!" A tall and stout man exclaimed. "I've read about Arendelle before, a small but privileged kingdom."

"Wait, you're a legit queen?"

Elsa nodded.

"She's got the throne, the castle, the staff, the whole shebang," Jack shrugged.

"And what of the ice?" A man with one arm pointed at the direction of the beach.

"I guess people also call me the Snow Queen..."

It had taken a while to explain what Jack and Elsa intended to do, but the vikings were still wary. That made Jack come up with an idea. He proposed that they help them with thawing out the ice all over Berk that came from an attack and answer a few of their questions, in exchange for some information on anything out of the ordinary in Berk.

Berk, The Village Square

Elsa stood in the middle of the village, staring at all the huge blocks of ice that pierced through homes and buildings. She was surprised. She hadn't seen everything from when they had just arrived at the small island, but taking it all in was difficult. What could have possibly done this?

Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. It was the blonde woman who always stood beside the chief. Elsa assumed she was his wife. She turned as the woman began to speak. "Looks terrible, huh?"

She nodded. "It's... shocking."

"We were attacked by an enormous dragon who can breathe ice, what do you expect?" Her voice almost sounded hostile, but Elsa didn't mind.

Elsa raised a brow. "Ice?"

"It sounds crazy, huh."

"Yes, but my life's been a crazy ride, too. This isn't the first time I've seen this much ice when it isn't supposed to be there."

The woman nodded. "How are you thawing the village, exactly?"

"A four-letter word does the trick," Elsa replied as she lifted her hands slowly. The ice began following where her hands went and formed a snowflake in the sky. She clasped her hands together, and the ice had completely disappeared out of thin air.

The villagers who were out stared at the platinum blonde queen, stunned. They thought it would've taken them a long time to get rid of the ice. Somehow, they were relieved they didn't have to wait that long. They had houses to rebuild, stables to remodel, and people to grieve for. It was a little helpful to know they didn't have to add another thing onto their list of things to do.

"Impressive." Elsa heard her say. She turned to look at her.

"Thank you."

"My name's Astrid, by the way."

"Nice to meet you."

There was this weird feeling that they both shared. Somehow, they felt like they were going to get along smoothly.

Undisclosed Location

Anna spat on his cheek, obviously angry. Hans laughed as he wiped it off with his sleeve, cupping her chin after. With an arrogant look on his face, he said, "Feisty, aren't we?"

"You'll get a lot more than feisty if you don't let me go. Elsa's looking for me. Kristoff, too. Possibly Jack, too."

"They don't stand a chance. We have more people in our side, now."

"Just get away from me, Hans," Anna hissed. "I should've known you were bad from the beginning!"

"Oh? And what would've given my Prince Charming act away?" He raised a brow.

"You and your evil sideburns, that's what!"

"Why are you so against the sideburns?!" He exclaimed.

"Not a single prince in fairy tales I've read had sideburns."

"This isn't a fairy tale, Anna. When will you get that in your head?" He stood up. "No one cares for you enough to come look for you. You're just fooling yourself." With that, he slammed the door and left.

She bit her lip, trying to fight the tears that wanted to escape. "You're wrong," she whispered. "They care."

Berk, The Forest

Jack flew beside the chief and his dragon, eyes focused straight ahead. "What exactly are we looking for?" He asked.

"There's a cave somewhere on the island. It's quite suspicious, if you ask me," the chief, Hiccup, said.

"Suspicious, how?"

"Sometimes we find it. Sometimes we don't."

Jack nodded. "Ah, I get it. Disappearing cave."

"I guess you could call it that." Hiccup chuckled. "So, how exactly is your girlfriend going to thaw the ice. Don't you guys just freeze things?"

"One, she isn't my girlfriend. Two, we can thaw ice. It comes with the Snow Power Package."

Hiccup nodded. "Sorry. I just assumed since you two seemed too friendly to be just friends."

Jack raised a brow. "How so?"

"You carried her bridal style."

"And?"

"Your little antics together."

"Yeah, let's not talk about that," Jack said, not wanting to hear more. He noticed an opening. "Is that it?"

"That's it."

The two flew closer to the entrance of the cave. Hiccup hopped off of Toothless and began walking carefully. Jack touched the wall and felt something strangely... cold. It was a different type of cold. He couldn't put it into words, but something definitely didn't feel right.

"Psst," Hiccup pointed at something in front of them. Hiccup crouched down and took a closer look. "It's a Nadder wing... It looks fresh. No one on Berk would harm a dragon... Well, now."

Jack crouched down, as well, and touched the wing. It was definitely fresh. It smelled that way, too. Looking at the ground, he saw that it was made up entirely of black sand. "Oh, no."

Growl

"That does not sound like good news." Jack, Hiccup, and Toothless turned to see nightmare horses surrounding them, blocking the exit.

"What are those?" Hiccup asked as he slowly got on Toothless.

"Nightmare horses," he replied. "Just a little something that the black sand can do..."

The horses charged at them. Hiccup told Toothless to shoot at them while Jack proceeded with shooting out ice from his staff. Every single time they shot at them, the horses just grew in number.

"Why isn't this working?!" Jack exclaimed. "It's supposed to work!"

Jack shot at it again, and Toothless thawed the now frozen horse. "Well, now it works," Hiccup said. "Keep shooting. Toothless and I will shoot at it after. He's got a limit, though, so we better get out quickly. Can they handle the light?"

"Yes, but they can't go far from a shadow."

"Then we have to fly high."

Jack nodded.

Berk, The Village

Elsa had learned a little about Berk and the people. Vikings and Dragons used to be at war against each other, but their current chief, Hiccup, had changed the village and the people. It was amazing to hear about such a young hero such as himself, and hearing it from his betrothed was an honor.

Suddenly, she saw something blue move by the shadows. Excusing herself from the two female vikings, Astrid and Valka, she followed it cautiously. She ended up somewhere behind a house. She saw nothing but piles of wood. Curiosity getting the best of her, she knelt beside the pile and, to her surprise, found a wisp. Before her finger could touch it, the wisp disappeared and from where it floated, a necklace appeared.

She hesitantly got it and held it in her hands. "Maya?" She read the name engraved onto the locket. She heard a laugh and quickly turned to the direction she heard it from, but she saw nothing. Standing up, she closed her hand with the necklace in it and walked back to where everyone was.

"They're back!" Astrid announced, seeing Hiccup, Toothless, and Jack landing in a hurry.

"Nightmare horses," Jack panted.

Elsa's eyes widened. "What happened?" She walked towards Jack, her hand on his shoulder.

"Something tells me Pitch did a little more experimenting on them. Just freezing them won't stop them."

"There's a cave filled with the black sand," Hiccup added. "We don't know how it got there, but I'm certain it wasn't anyone on Berk."

"So what do we do?" Astrid asked.

"Nothing," Hiccup replied.

"Babe, what?"

"Look, we don't know what exactly is going on. Before we jump to anything, we have to ask some questions." He turned to Jack and Elsa. "Who is Pitch?"

A/N: Well, here you go! I'm sorry if it's bad... I feel like I'm losing my touch. Anyway, I'll try my best to update quicker, but school of course goes first. It's been pretty hectic these past few months. Anyway, thanks for reading. :D
