Chapter 10- Leo vs. Valon Part 1

Hey guys! Happy Easter!

I do apologise about my failure to post last month's chapter. I actually had my Grade 5 guitar exam on the 25th, so there was no way i was going to get anything done before then.

However, here it is, now!

I have never written a duel before, so please bare with me :) If there is anything you don't like, just PM me or tell me in a review!

Please review!

Leo glared at Valon, who stood smirking by a teddy bear shop, ruining his image of evil-bad-guy.

"So, you want to have a duel in a mall, of all places, where the world can see?" Leo asked, glancing at Valon's disk that would be worth a fortune now, being a genuine antique.

"No. I just thought that if I told you to meet anywhere else, you wouldn't find it on your own, without your sister to hold your hand and direct you there," Valon shrugged, heading in the direction of the door and beckoning for Leo to follow. "That and it was the only place I knew myself."

"So, where are we going?" the teenager asked awkwardly, as the strolled along and out of the car park and down the street.

"Not too sure really…" Dartz's henchman sighed, staring at areas of ground that could be suitable. "It would be so easy back in Domino City-"

"This is Domino City," Leo said, pointing at a bus that had New Domino City Mall emblazed on the reader, heading in the direction they had just came.

"Yeah, I know that, squirt," Valon rolled his eyes. "Then that Fudo blew it up…"

"By accident," Leo snapped. Seeing as his hero wasn't there to defend his late father, Leo took it upon himself to do it.

"The way I see it, he was just desperate for money, switching it on to see how much he would get-"

"No, it wasn't like that!"

"You would defend him?" Valon stopped for a second and stared at his young opponent. "Sure, its way after my time and it may be none of my business but he murdered thousands of innocent people!"

"He died himself! And, yeah, it really is none of your business! Yusei's dad was a good man, I know it!"

Valon shrugged. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. I don't really care anyway."

Yusei sneezed violently as the runner grinded to a halt. Akiza parked beside him, tugging her helmet off and scanning the area with her amber eyes.

"Someone's talking about you," she teased, as he wiped his nose.

"Oh well, whatever they're talking about, I hope it's good…" Yusei said.

"The fugitive is not in sight…" she sighed, leaning back in her seat. "Man, I really don't fancy searching all over for him. I'm sure he's fine."

"So am I," Yusei stood up, offering her his hand, which she took gratefully. "And in normal circumstances, I would just let him be. But with all these people crawling around, we can't be certain he's safe."

"That moron. He could have at least left a note," Akiza sulked, as they began walking down Satellite's market place.

Yusei walked ahead, not bothered by all the trinkets sold there. He had grown up in the Satellite, so nothing was new to him. However, Akiza was stopping at every stall, staring at the items and inquiring about what everything was.

Twenty minutes later, Akiza was weighed down with multi coloured bags, full of rubbish and she still hadn't gotten to the end of the street. Yusei stood patiently, watching as the psychic bought another pair of fake Van shoes.

"Do you remember the reason we came?" Yusei chuckled, as Aki waddled up, trying not to drop any bags.

"Sure, to get Leo. But I'm sure he's not here. He was walking. If he was walking to the Satellite, he would only be at the bridge, at the fastest he can walk. Trust me, he's not here."

"Fair enough. Why didn't I think about that?" Yusei asked himself.

"Because women are amazing. I know, you totally agree with me! Now, my personal-bag-carrier! To the mall!" Aki floated back to her runner, leaving Yusei to carry her bags.

After half an hour of walking in circles, Valon finally settled on a bit of empty ground that was being used for construction work. It was quite open and anyone passing by could easily see them, however, apart from a few abandoned looking houses, there was no reason a person would come past.

Valon smirked. "Well, Leo, I'll think I'll start this duel off. I'll go first…" he pulled out five cards from the top of his deck and glanced at them. Leo did the same, staring down at his hand.

"I draw!" Valon cried, pulling the top card out of his deck and placing it in his hand. "First, I play my spell card, Cost Down. Any average duellist would know that that reduces the level of a monster in my hand by two."

"I know that!" Leo snapped, stamping his foot.

"Really? Well, you've surprised me. I summon Double Cloth Armour in Defence mode!"

Level: 6 4 (reduced by Cost down)

"Dude, are you buffing?" Leo grinned. "He has no defence points!"

Valon didn't even bat an eyelid. "I play two cards face down. Now, I activate the spell card, Seal of Orichalcos!"

"What!? So soon!" Leo moaned.

"When the duel is over, your soul will belong to Master Dartz!" Valon shrieked in delight. "I end my turn! Now, Signer, show me what you're made of!"

"With pleasure! I draw!" Leo dragged the card out of the holder.

I can't let myself be defeated! Leo thought. I sense great evil coming from that card and I don't even need Luna to tell me!

"I play one of my favourite spell cards! Morphtronic Base! Each of my turns lets me summon two of my Morphtronic buddies! So, I summon Morphtronic Celfon and Morphtronic Videon in attack mode!"

Morphtronic Celfon Morphtronic Videon

"Now! I activate my Celfon's effect! I can role a six-sided die! Whatever number it lands on, I can draw that many cards from my deck! And if I have any Morphtronic monsters in there the same level or under of the number I just rolled!"

The numbers on the giant yellow phone glowed, as if it was dialling. Finally, it stopped on the number four.

"Dude, you said you'd roll a die not let it dial!" Valon hissed.

Leo scratched his head. "Yeah, sorry about that… See, my cards in England are slightly different and when I duel there, there is a die…"

"So, the number four?" Valon asked, raising his eyebrow.

"What? Oh, yeah!" Leo tugged four cards out from his deck. "Great! I summon Morphtronic Staplen to my side of the field!"

Morphtronic Staplen

"And the other three cards you drew?" Valon queried.

"Oh, they go back to my deck and shuffled…" Leo pushed them back in, as the stack of cards automatically re-shuffled.

"Next, I play the spell card Morphtronic Defence!" Leo gestured to the green card that appeared on the field. "This lets me change my Celfon to defence mode!"

Morphtronic Celfon

Def: 100

"Now, Morphtronic Staplen! Attack Valon's Double Cloth Armour!" Leo pointed at the monster.

"Hah! You fell for it, Leo!" Valon sniggered. "When you attack my monster, it gives half of your monsters attack points back as a direct hit to your life points!"

"What?" Leo squeaked, as the monsters collided, creating an explosion. Then, yellow lightning appeared from nowhere and hit him. He yelled and coughed as his life points came down.

He stared at the field. Both the Cloth Armour and his Staplen were gone. "Where's Staplen?" he demanded.

"That's the other effect of my monster." Valon cleaned his nails. "It destroys your monster because it destroyed mine…"

"Damn it…" Leo hissed. "Well, I'm not down yet!"

"Did I say you were?" Valon muttered to himself.

"Morphtronic Videon! Attack Valon directly!" Leo commanded.

"Ow!" Valon complained as Leo's monster struck him. "I play a trap! Armour Call! Now, I can add a spell card to my hand!"

"I end my turn with a face down…" Leo sighed.

"Ok, Lester, can you see anything?" Crow asked, as they drove down another street.

"I may have X-Ray vision, but you're going too fast for me to see anything!" Lester replied snottily, staring at the houses with his metal covered eye. Known to extremely few people, Lester could easily see through walls of houses and see everything in a simple glance.

"Sorry," Crow slowed down, so the cyborg could see.

"No, he's not here," Lester sighed. "Call Fudo, tell him that we've been through our areas and we've found nothing."

"Man, we covered so much ground, I was sure we would find him, or have some kind of clue," Crow exhaled, calling Yusei on the screen of the Blackbird.

After a few seconds, the leader of Team 5D's appeared. "Hey, Crow, you find anything?"

"No, nothin'," Crow shook his head.

"Same here."

"We're gonna head back to Akiza's house now. I can't think of any other place he could be," Crow said. "He might even be back at the house by now."

"Yeah, I'll see you there, we'll be late but we'll be as quick as we can," Yusei sighed, shooting something or someone a look, who was out of the video's range.

"What? Why'll you be late? Have you not searched everywhere?"

"Oh no, we finished ages ago. Now, Akiza's dragging me around the mall."

"What? We don't have time to go shopping!" Lester interrupted.

"Tell her that!" Yusei grumbled. "Anyway, I'll see you at Akiza's."

"Yeah, see ya. Crow and Lester out."

"It's my turn," Valon hissed. "I summon Psychic Armour Head in attack mode!"

"Dude! Again with the monster with no attack points! Did you draw a bad hand?" Leo asked mockingly. Idiot! Why are you trying to hack off the bad guy? He thought.

"Next, Leo, I play my spell card, Armoured Gravitation. It lets me summon up to four level four or below monsters-"

"What!?" Leo shrieked. "How is that fair?"

"Shut up," Valon snapped. "So, I'm gonna summon Over Boost, Jet Gauntlet, Buster Knuckle and Active Guard!"

"Slow down, man!" Leo cried, as four yellow transportation circles appeared and a pair of metal legs, a metal arm, a-hand-like-thing (Leo couldn't tell what it really was) and a torso. Leo began having horrible flashbacks of the Machine Emperors

"He just summoned… Five monsters in a single turn…" Leo whispered, staring at his hand desperately.

"Now I use Buster Knuckle's effect!" Valon cried.

"Are you havin' a laugh?" Leo yanked his hair in frustration. "You just summoned five monsters in a turn! Do ya really need to activate the effects?"

"Buster Knuckle gets an extra two hundred attack points for every armour monster I have on the field, so he now has one thousand six hundred attack points."

Knuckle Buster

"This is not my day…" Leo wailed.

"But I'm not done! Now I play Armour Wave! I can summon another Armour Monster!"

"I know this is bad for me, and all, but seriously do you really need any more monsters?" Leo sighed.

Jack and Ashley stood helplessly at the side of the road, staring at the map. The two odd pair had covered their area's quickly, however Ashley's boyfriend was nowhere in sight. After a lot of shouting the runaway's name and disturbing people, they gave up.

However, now they were having their own problems.

"So, if we drive down Flight Lane and come off that junction…" Ashley followed the road on the paper with her finger.

"But that won't work, there's roadwork's around there, we'll be diverted," Jack sighed. "And we'll get even more lost."

"And why can't we just call Yusei or Crow?" Ashley demanded, staring at the street signs, trying to locate themselves on the map.

"My pride won't let me," Jack sulked, folding his arms and kicking the pavement. Ashley rolled her eyes. She had a good mind to call Akiza but she would never let Jack hear the end of it, and Ashley didn't want to be on bad terms with the tall duellist.

They stood awkwardly, as the blonde girl spun the map around, holding it at awkward angles. "Hey! I got it! If we go down here…"

She showed the former king the route she was pointing at. His violet eyes lit up and he sat back down on his runner. "Yeah, that'll do."

Ashley hopped up, still holding the map. Jack revved up his engine and they started off.

…They barely got three meters before the engine spluttered and died, white smoke billowing up for the bonnet.

"Well, that's just great," Ashley groaned.

"Come forth! Big Bang Blow!" Valon cried. Another metallic arm appeared on Valon's side of the field. Leo was getting a bit tired of this. Sure, it was like the Meklord Emperors, but at least they had a quick way of summoning them.

"And now I play the spell Big Control! It lets me send your Celfone to the grave!" Valon waved goodbye as the monster disappeared in a cluster of yellow triangles. "Now, Knuckle Buster! Attack Videon!"

Leo watched as the humongous hand swooped down and crushed Videon flat. Then, it floated upwards and crashed into Leo's stomach. He coughed and spluttered, clutching his side.

"Hey, what the hell?" he demanded. That was definitely going to bruise. Valon smiled, sticking his finger in his ear and smirking.

Leo LP: 650

"Hold up, signer, I play another spell…"

"How many cards do you have in that blasted hand!?" Leo screamed.

"…Grave Hole. Say bye bye because your stapler has just been removed from play-"

"Staplen," Leo corrected him.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever, kid. And then, it lets me send an armour monster from my deck to my grave, reducing my Knuckle Buster's attack by four hundred points and lets me attack you again."

Knuckle Buster

ATK: 1800 1400

This time, the hand crashed into the side of the teenager's head. Leo cried out, crumpling onto his knees. Everything swam. He felt a warm, sticky sensation at the side of his head. Slowly, he lifted his fingers and touched it. Wincing, he pulled back to see red dripping down into his palm.

Leo LP: 6100

"I end my turn with two face downs, Leo," Valon smirked.

Maybe coming alone wasn't such a great idea after all.
