Pitch came to her that evening as she sat under the stars by the New Zealand lake, Piper beside her, playing a tune on his pipe that made the ripples of the water dance, reflecting the light of the moon in shimmering rays. Occasionally he would mutter things that may have been a song, but she didn't question him about it, she was too busy trying to remember what it was about a white horse that scared her so much.

They had both moved as far away from the unicorn as possible, and only Pitch seemed to be able to stand her. Maybe that was because he could understand Uni, or simply because he was just as crazy.

"Darkness, we're leaving for the North Pole." Pitch didn't waste anytime with words as she climed to her feet, Piper rising behind her. "Just Dark."

"Why? What's happening?" she asked, tilting her head.

"It's time they knew that we're back."

"But they already know, Jack is bound to have told them," she protested. "And why can't Piper come?"

"Because I wan't to give them a little gift to distract them, and they already know about the both of us, but not Piper or Uni, they can stay here." Pitch tugged at her arm urgently, and she followed him, wondering what was going on.

He hair was swirling as though in a breeze, curing around stars as Pitch called up the Nightmares, which they mounted, Pitch sliding on behind her. The Nightmare rose into the air, and Dark caught a final glance of Piper watching her before they dived into the Earth with a puff of black sand.

North's workshop was warm and well lit, much to Dark's displeasure. They stood atop the globe, watching the yetis go about their business, carrying large sacks of presents and half-made toys. The Guardians were no where to be seen.

"Let's make ourselves known shall we?" Pitch asked her, meeting her eyes before looking guiltily away. Dark frowned at him, but sent a stream of shadows into the control box for the globe. It stuttered to a halt with a loud creak, and several lamps around the place shattered in a tide of lack sand.

The yetis instantly reacted, crowding around them and roaring, occasionally throwing a barbie doll or two at them. It wasn't long before the Guardians arrived.

"Pitch Black."

The turned to see North standing down beside the globe, hands on hips. Tooth, Sandy and Bunnymund were beside him, but Dark couldn't see Jack at all. She saw Sandy frowning up at her, and noticed Pitch sliding to make her visible to them. She felt like a toy on display, but didn't say that.

"Hello, North, long time no see," she said cheerfully, waving down at him.

"Pitch, why are you trying this again? And you too Darkness, I can understand Pitch, but what are your motives?"

She shrugged. "Just for a bit of fun mostly, you wouldn't know how boring it is, skulking in the dark for a good century. Pitch makes things lively."

"We know you want to destroy Christmas," Bunny interjected. "And it's not going to happen, I'm afraid, not now, not ever."

"That's what you think," Pitch said with a dark smile.

At that moment something dropped from the roof between them, and Dark barely had time to jerk back before Jack Frost swung his staff into her chest, sending her sprawling over Greenland. She tried to fight the freezing numbness as she began slipping off the Globe, and she scrabbled to regain her footing. She saw Tooth fly at Pitch while he was distracted by Jack, and she sent a wave of darkness into her, knocking her out of the air.

She saw something blur out of the corner of her eye and spotted Bunny's boomerang soaring towards her. She went to dodge, but something had stuck her feet to the globe, and she lent too far forward. Before the boomerang made contact with her head, Dark caught Pitch's eye, staring at the apologetic look he wore as he disappeared. Then with a blinding pain, the world spun black.

She felt something wrap around her ankle, and a second later she was being tugged through the air, only to crash into the floor like a rag doll. He vision swam as a voice shouted, "He's gone!". A pair of freezing cold hands were suddenly grabbing her by the arms, pulling her hair sharply in the process. She hissed in pain as another, stronger, pair of hands picked her up lightly and moved her up, slinging her through the air and onto a burly shoulder, taking the breathe out of her. She still couldn't see, though she should have been used to that. Why though?

By the time she opened her eyes her skin was burning, and a searing whiteness sped through her head. She winced with the pain and sat up, her brain feeling as though it were shattering with the intensity of the light.

She was in a pure white orb, surrounded by light on every side. There was no darkness, no shadows, no relief from the searing painful white. She slammed on the sides of the orb, tears streaming unwillingly down her face, eyes screwed shut.

In her mind, Pitch's sorry face floated in front of her, and his word floated in her mind. I want to give them a little gift to distract them. She let out a howling scream. A never ending shriek, that was the only thing left for her to do.
