The murder of Ollie Cattle keeps DB Russell wide awake. A cheeky, blonde-haired seventeen-year-old. Left to die on a filthy warehouse floor.
DB suspects Ollie's stepbrother Jack killed him over a girl. He couldn't prove it so he sent Finn and Zack back to the crime scene to find something that put him at the warehouse when Ollie died.
Zack got called away to process a robbery but Finn stayed knowing they had missed nothing. She wanted to solve the case for him, another thing DB felt guilty about.
Someone blocked the doors and set fire to the outside to the warehouse. The cost saving materials used made it burn faster. How Finn got out with only mild smoke inhalation he would never know.
Once again DB suspected it was Jack who committed the crime but couldn't prove it. His mother and aunt swore he was with them, he could see it in their eyes they lying. A murder who almost killed his best friend was walking the streets, and he hated it.
He had shouted at Zack. The young CSI felt bad enough about leaving Finn at the scene but DB had made it worse. He needed to blame someone and Zack was there. He'd apologize when he saw him next.
Finn was still in the hospital. The doctors wanted to keep her something she had fought all the way and only agreed to stay when DB told if she didn't then he would force to take two weeks off work.
She insisted she was fine but DB knew it had shaken her. When he hugged she didn't pull away like she would have any other time.
