The next morning, Yugi woke to banging coming from the other room.
"Yugi, wake up." Yami shouted at him, realising it was coming from her room, and he worried that something was happening to her.
"What?" what's happening?" Yugi asked groggily.
"Do you hear that? What is it?" Yami demanded.
"I don't know." Yugi replied, laying his head back down on his pillow.
"Get up, go see! Quickly!" Yami shouted.
"Okay, okay." He rushed out of his room.
The banging was coming from Cerise's room, right next to Yugi's. He opened the door and saw that Cerise was packing her things. She stopped and looked over at him, standing there in his cute PJs.
"Hi." Yugi said.
"Hi." She smiled.
"Where're you going? Did you find a place to stay?" he asked, walking into the room.
"I'm seeing my agent in an hour. Wanna come? Unless, you're meeting Joey or Tristan or someone else?" she asked.
"No. No one else." he said sadly and Atemu punched him on the arm.
"Ow." He said. She realised he and Atemu were arguing. But what about?
"What's that about?" she asked.
"No, we're not, seeing anyone, we would love to come." Yugi smiled.
"Breakfast?" she asked, looking at him as she zipped up her bag.
"Yeah, I'm sure gramps has some toast or something." Yugi said, as she walked up to him.
"Great." She walked out the room.
He stood in the room, confused. It was a bit early for him to be up.
"Are you coming? I only have one hour." She said sticking her head back into the room.
"Go on, get dressed. I'll meet you in the kitchen." She added, disappearing and walking down the passage.
"She's a morning person." He mumbled as he sleepily walked back to his room.
He got dressed and stumbled to the kitchen. She was making toast herself.
"Where's gramps?" he asked, looking around.
"My guess, with my cards." She said, buttering her toast.
She had it just like that. She boiled the kettle and made coffee.
"Here you go." She handed Yugi a mug with steaming hot coffee in it.
"Thanks." He smiled, taking it from her.
She carried a mug into the office, where Yugi's granddad had been up all night. He came into the kitchen behind Cerise.
"You have a very interesting deck." He sipped on his hot mug on coffee.
"When you have money behind you, any card is within your reach." She said, taking back her deck.
"I just want to be sure, Serona is an Egyptian god card?" she asked and Solomon nodded.
"Yes. The least talked about one." he said.
"Great. Okay, I have to go, oh my cellphone." She ran back to her room.
"Who is she?" Yugi's granddad asked soflty.
"She was Kaiba's girlfriend and his head of PR. And she's the Pharaoh's Queen."
"What?" Solomon said, looking at the stairs where she had disappeared up.
"Yeah, turns out he came back here to find her and take her back and to recover his memory." Yugi explained.
"Cerise you say, that sounds so familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Am I missing something here?" his grandfather mumbled.
"I'll explain later, gramps." Yugi said, finishing up his coffee.
"Okay, we have to go." She came into the kitchen.
"I'll see you again. I might have to stay one or two days more. Is that okay?" she asked granddad.
"Sure no problem." He smiled.
"It's not everyday Yugi has a girl sleep over." Solomon nudged him, but Yugi could feel Pharaoh blushing on his behalf.
"Sure, Yugi." Cerise giggled.
"Okay, see you later. Come on, Yugi." She walked out the door.
"See you gramps." Yugi said as he followed her.
They met her estate agent later and she began to show her around the apartments she had available. They had been so many apartments that day, and then Cerise found the one she liked most. It was close to work and the shops. And there were a few fast food joints close by, for when she felt too lazy to cook.
"This is it." She said walking into the place.
It was on the 25th floor and had a lovely view of the city.
"How much?" she asked the agent.
"Well, the owner wants 250 thousand." The agent explained.
"Who is the owner?" Cerise asked, turning to face her.
"Seto Kaiba."
"Are you serious?" she asked.
"Yes, Mr. Kaiba bought this building a few weeks ago." The agent nodded.
"Okay, I'll go talk to him." She said.
"But...what about my commission?" the agent asked.
"I'll pay you for your trouble, how does 10 thousand sound?"
"Make it 15 and the place is yours." She pushed her for more.
"Done." She said.
"Give me the key and I'll give you the money." she said.
The lady handed her the key and Cerise took down the agent's details. They drove to Kaiba Corp when they got there; they were let in without going through security. They went up to Kaiba's office.
"Are you sure this is wise?" Atemu asked her.
"I have to talk straight to him." She said, looking at him.
"I just thought, after the tournament, you might want to steer clear of him." He said, watching the numbers ring up on the elevator panel.
"I do. But I need to do this." She said, looking at him.
"I'll be fine." She said, reaching over, taking his hand and squeezing it softly.
He smiled at her as the lift door opened. She walked straight to Kaiba's office at the end of the hall and he followed her. There were other offices on the way there, and everyone knew Cerise. His PA tried to stop her, but she pushed the door open.
"We need to talk." She said. Kaiba was on the phone. He looked up at her and she could feel the anger directed at her.
"I'll have to call you back." He hung up.
"That was rude." He added.
"I'll get right to the point. I want an apartment in the block you just bought." She said to him. Atemu stayed outside the office, and out of sight. He was pretty sure Kaiba had noticed them getting closer, and him being here, would only confirm it.
"Oh, the one I'm going to rip down and put a game store on the land." He sat back in his chair.
"I assume you have your plane back." She said, folding her arms over her chest.
"Yes, and it looks like you had a good party with you new friends, and new victim." He smiled.
"He's no victim, Seto, and yes, we did, and I took all the diamonds you bought me." she said to him.
"I know."
"I'll give you the 11 million necklace back, if you give me the apartment." She began to bargain.
"It's a lot to pay for an apartment. Are you sure?" he was beginning to play his business game with her. Atemu felt his anger rise, knowing he was playing games with her. She had admitted to him, that she wasn't good at strategizing. Kaiba must know this too.
"Well, I could always cash it in and take the money." She toyed with him.
"No, I'm pulling that thing down." He said.
Atemu listened to them argue and he wasn't sure about leaving them alone, but he saw that she had Kaiba under control for once.
"I'll give it the necklace back, I need a place to stay." She said to Kaiba.
"You have all that jewellery, use it." He said.
"Fine. But I wonder how everyone will feel when they hear that you abused me." she said, and this caught his attention.
"I did no such thing." He stood up off his chair.
"What you did to me is abuse, Seto." She said, leaning forward on his desk.
"I'm sure we can come to an, arrangement." he said, sitting back down.
"I hope we can." She smiled.
A few minutes later, she came out of his office.
"What did he say?" Yami asked.
"I'll tell you now." She said getting into the lift.
When they left the building and got into her car.
"He will buy me any apartment I want and I won't lay charges against him for assaulting me." She explained.
"And the diamonds?" Yami asked her.
"Stay mine." She said.
"So, you got the apartment?" he asked, but she shook her head.
"No, he's turning it into a gaming department."
"So you lost your dream place." He said sadly.
"Don't worry. We are going back to that agent and tell her I want a place on the east side." She turned on the engine.
The agent was happy to see her again. And later that day, Cerise found the place she always wanted. It was an open plan kitchen, dining room and TV room. The bathroom and bedroom were hidden away behind screens.
"This is it." She said happily, knowing Kaiba couldn't take this one away from her.
"So I assume you'll take it." The agent asked her.
"Yes. Send the paperwork to Kaiba." Cerise said, looking out the window.
"Will do." She said.
"Here is the key." She handed Cerise the key to the front door.
"My own place. Isn't it cool?" she asked Yugi, who had taken over.
"Yeah. It is nice." As Yugi walked into the front door, the kitchen/dining room was on the left. The TV room was a little further on also on the left. The bedroom was on the right of the TV room, behind matt glass wall panels. The bathroom was connected to the bedroom. The whole place was had an oak floor.
"What does he think?" she asked Yugi. Yugi nodded and called the pharaoh out.
"So, what do you think?" she asked him and he looked around.
"It's nice, it has a nice floor." He said, looking down.
"Okay, what's wrong?" she asked him, walking up to him.
"Maybe making a deal with Kaiba was the wrong thing to do. You could have afforded this place on your own." He said, taking her hands.
"I know, but at least now, I have more money to spend on myself, and on you." She said, looking at him.
"I don't need anything." He smiled, but he appreciated the sentiment.
"He should go to jail for what he did to you." He said, looking at her with his big amethyst eyes.
"Ah, it's ok. I would never have reported him anyway." She said, letting go of his hands and walking around the apartment.
"You, still love him." He said, realising what the problem was.
She touched the kitchen counter and chose not to look at him.
"I was with him for such a long time, he was my first love. I suppose, you're right." She admitted.
"But the line had to be drawn. He would have ended up killing me, eventually." She added.
"Besides, I have a better future waiting for me. I just have to reach out and take it." She said, walking up to him and taking his hands again.
"Yes. And I promise, I will always treat you the way you deserve to be treated. You will never have to worry about me hurting you." He said, leaning in and kissing her on the cheek softly.
She blushed and smiled.
"Thank you." She said softly.
"Now if you don't mind, I've had enough shopping for today, and would like to retire to my puzzle. May I?" he asked her.
"Sure." She smiled.
"I'll see you later." She said, before he receded into the puzzle and she let go of his hands.
Yugi appeared and she smiled at him.
"Tomorrow its furniture shopping." She smiled.
"You're on your own for that one." Yugi laughed.
"Okay, let's get back to your place, before it gets dark." She said, locking the door to her place.
