PLEASE READ BEFORE BEGINNING CHAPTER!
AN: Ha! I got another one done! Yaaaaaay! But seriously, this is to make up for not updating in a while. I'll try to update more often, but with all the work I've got to do I might not always have time to write, let alone post. So please forgive me on that matter!
Okay, so like the last chapter, this is also a combo of two episodes, and if I remember correctly, I didn't deviate too much from what had originally happened beyond changing around minuscule details.
Hope you all like this and please remember to review!
~A Different Frontier~
oO-Here's To Missions And Beasts-Oo
(AN: I forgot to mention this, but Kagome doesn't have her illusion on and probably won't until a while later.)
"I can't believe it," Takuya said wearily as they all walked through the dense fog, "We're finally here! And there's the sign right there; Forest Terminal!"
The DigiDestined had been walking nonstop since the night before, only stopping for small periods of time to rest up. When they'd gotten out of the forest Grumblemon had led them into, they found a line of Trailmon tracks that lead them in the direction they were traveling in with Bokomon pointing them in the right direction with his book.
"But, shouldn't there be a Trailmon or a station here?" Zoe asked.
"I'm sure it's got to be coming back soon," the teen in red said doubtfully, pushing his long bronze sleeves up to his elbows, "Maybe? Or you they uh—maybe uh—or uh…"
"Very articulate," Kagome commented, causing the boy in red to flush. "In other words, you don't know."
Suddenly, J.P's voice spoke up excitedly. "Hey forget about the Trailmon, there's a restaurant here!"
Curious, the rest of the group turned around and saw a small building with a little dirt path leading up into it.
"How did we not see that before?" Kagome blinked.
"Maybe because we weren't looking for it?" Zoe replied. "Or maybe it's because J.P thinks with his stomach more than half the time…" the blonde sweat-dropped.
The group followed J.P up to the entrance of the restaurant and stopped just before stepping to see a bird Digimon with a large bush as its tail at the counter.
"Welcome, wear travelers," the Deramon greeted.
"What do you have to eat?" Tommy asked.
"As instead what I don't have to eat," the plant-bird Digimon corrected. "Step right up, friends, and don't worry about money, for you the first meal's free."
"Cool!" J.P exclaimed as he walked into the building, the rest following after him at a more sedate pace.
"Now there's a man who knows what he likes!" Deramon nodded. "Or doesn't care what he eats…"
One by one each of the group took a seat at the counter, a bowl of noodles in broth already in front of them. Kagome leaned forward discreetly and took a small sniff of the food in the bowl curiously. 'It has funny smell, but other than that, nothing looks too out of the ordinary besides the fact that there's nothing but noodles in broth in this…'
"Five yolk surprises coming right up!" the Deramon threw five eggs into the air and attacked them with his beak, causing the shells to break and fives perfectly brown eggs to land in each of the bowls, the eggs cooking almost immediately from the heat of the broth and noodles. "Well, dig in!"
"Hail to the chef and thanks for the food!" the group chorused before picking up their chopsticks and digging into the food.
Unfortunately, the moment the food hit their tongues, each member of the group of eight began gagging or spitting their food out in disgust. Soon, the entire restaurant shook with the loud exclamations of disgust from each person and Digimon at the counter.
But as quickly as those exclamations were voiced, they stopped as the group sat at the counter calmly. "We must respectfully decline your offer of food," Bokomon spoke evenly.
"I can't feel my tongue anymore…" Neemon trailed off.
"I knew I should've been more suspicious about the food…" Kagome shook her head, trying to erase the memory of the taste from her mind.
"All right, all right, what the big idea?" the plant-bird Digimon had a tick-mark pulsing on his forehead. "I can't believe you guys would turn down free food!"
"That was food?" Zoe asked skeptically.
"I'm insulted!" the Deramon said indignantly.
"I'm gonna be sick!" Takuya crossed his arms over his chest.
"Fine then," the Deramon said darkly, "Go on, get outta here, you're buggin' me. Go on and go to the Forest Terminal; they say no one's ever returned from there!"
"Yeah?" Takuya retorted. "Well, we'll just take our chances! I doubt the Forest Terminal could be any worse than this food!"
The rest of the group huffed in agreement.
"Oh come on, guys," the Deramon's mood changed quickly as tears cascaded down his cheeks, "I was just tryin' to be nice, that's all!"
"It's not a matter of being nice," the teen in red spoke, "And besides, rumors don't matter to us; we've already been told that we have to go to the Forest Terminal!"
One by one, each of the kids and the two small Digimon with them got up from their seats and walked out of the restaurant single-file. All except Kagome, that is.
"Excuse me?" Kagome walked over to the sobbing Deramon.
"What do ya want now?" the plant-bird Digimon sniffled. "Come to hit Digimon while he's down?"
"What recipe did you use to cook these noodles?" the raven-haired girl asked. "Sometimes it might not be the chef that screwed up, but the recipe might just be inaccurate or something."
"My recipe's pretty clear," Deramon replied. "One egg in pasta boiled in dirty socks!"
'And whose dirty socks were they boiled in?!' Kagome grimaced. "Well, there's your problem; boil the pasta in clean water then add spices to it to add flavor, but no dirty socks!"
And with that said, the girl bade the Digimon farewell before walking out of the building to meet up with the rest of her friends.
"About time you got out of there, don't tell me you actually liked his food?!" J.P exclaimed.
"Are you kidding?" Kagome glared at the teen in blue. "I didn't like that food any more than you did! I asked him what recipe he used and just gave him a few pointers for improvement."
"How did he cook those noodles, anyway?" Tommy asked.
"He boiled the pasta in water with dirty socks," Kagome said, her face a little green.
The rest of the group either grimaced or gagged at the revelation. "Well," Takuya composed himself, "We'd better get going…"
"Let's do it," Koji nodded.
"I don't know," J.P said suspiciously, "do you really think it's as dangerous as that Digimon said?"
"Maybe," Tommy shook his head, "But we've gotten this far, we can't just turn back now."
The group had been walking in through the fog for a while now, with no sign of life or anything else, for that matter. It wasn't until a little later that they came upon a Trailmon Station.
"Well here's the station," Kagome commented.
"But this place is empty, too," Koji observed.
"Yeah," Zoe nodded, "And just a little bit creepy!"
"Keep your eyes peeled, guys," Takuya warned.
"For what?" J.P asked. "There's just fog around here for miles around!"
"Well, there's bound to be someone living around here somewhere," the teen in red reasoned.
When they'd all gone through the Trailmon Station, the digiDestined and their Digimon companions came upon a giant tree with an opening leading inside it.
"That's one big tree," Tommy commented.
"And it looks like there's a staircase inside," Takuya observed when they stepped inside it. "I wonder where it leads?"
"Well, there's only one way to find out now," Kagome said, pointing up the winding staircase leading up the inside of the tree.
A~Different~Frontier
When they'd reached the end of the staircase, the group found themselves high up on the tree, leading to a tree branch with a staircase carved into it.
"Oh man, this world sure loves its walking," J.P moaned at the sight of more stairs.
"I guess we just have to keep on going," Takuya shrugged.
And with that, the group trudged on up the branch for a bit until they came upon a place where the branch was bisected into two different paths.
"Oh great, now what?" Takuya sighed.
"Huh?" Tommy looked at his D-Tector, which had started beeping. Suddenly, to his amazement, the small 3D holo-globe they'd seen acting like a map a few times before appeared above Tommy's screen. "That way," the young boy pointed to the path on the right.
Following the direction given, the group walked up the new path, only to stop as a cluster of branches blocked their way.
"Tommy, are you sure, this was the right way?" Takuya asked. "It looks like a dead end to me."
"Hey!" J.P watched in awe as his D-Tector gave off a blue glow and shot towards the branches covering their way. Slowly, the branches stood up and straightened out, leaving behind a continuous path for them to follow.
"Is it me or did it just get darker?" Koji asked, looking around them.
The group glanced around and saw that the navy-haired boy was right, while the fog in the air was still as thick as it could be, the little bit of light that indicated that it was daytime had dulled.
"Maybe I can do something about that," Kagome said when he saw an azure light shoot up from her D-Tector and spread around, dissipating the darkness.
"Well it's not dark anymore, but we still can't see anything with all this fog!" Takuya scratched his head.
"My D-Tector's probably good for something even if I don't have my Spirit," Zoe said, looking at the pink and lavender device. She gasped when a pink light flashed from her device; a whirlwind of air twisted around them, blowing the fog away.
The group gasped when they saw the path they were on leading to a large crystal palace that glowed a multitude of colours due to light of the sun hitting it in certain areas.
"I hate it when I'm right," Zoe blinked up at the crystal structure.
"This place is beautiful," Tommy said in awe.
"That doesn't mean it's not dangerous," Koji reminded the young boy.
"But what if this is where the person from our D-Tector lives?" Tommy asked. "We did get a message to come here."
"Should we knock or something?" J.P asked, walking up to the door before looking back at his friends.
"I still don't think it's safe," the navy-haired boy looked around the area, searchingly. Just then, his D-Tector began beeping.
Koji took it out, only to gasp as a white light shot out of the device and to the gates they stood before. The light traced right down the middle of the gates before the two large crystal structures opened up.
"Well at least they're polite," Takuya commented, "I think…"
"Yeah, that or eager to lure us in there," J.P snorted.
"Well I say we go," Zoe spoke up. "I mean, how bad could it be? Sleeping Beauty used to live in a castle."
"Yeah, well so did the Wicked witch," Kagome reminded the girl.
"We'll never find out what's in there if we don't go in," Tommy pointed out to everyone.
And with that, Takuya led his friends up to the doors leading into the crystal palace. The teen in red took a hold of the crystal doorknocker and banged it against the door a few times. But when there was no response, he looked back at his friends helplessly.
"Maybe no one lives here?" Tommy suggested.
"Maybe you should open up a Wishful-Thinking-Store, buddy," Takuya said amusedly. His face turned serious when his own D-Tector started beeping like made. The teen took the device out, only for a red light to shoot out of it and struck the doors, opening them automatically.
"Get back, Cherubimon Scum!" a voice growled as a staff with a large snowflake atop it was pointed threateningly at the group of eight.
"Isn't that Wizardmon?" Takuya asked, looking at the Digimon in front of them.
A~Different~Frontier
The Digimon before them wore a white bodysuit with teal accents and zippers scattered across the fabric with a teal vest over the bodysuit, a pair of brown gloves and boots, and a white cloak with a violet inside with a white wizard's hat on his head.
He had lavender skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair down to his mid-back that was tied into a loose low-ponytail.
A~Different~Frontier
"Yeah, but he's a different colour," Tommy said slowly.
"Well, it doesn't matter,' Takuya said confidently, "We can beat him, just like we beat Gigasmon!"
That caught the Digimon's attention. "Gigasmon? But he's one of Cherubimon's goons!" the mage Digimon exclaimed.
"Yeah!" J.P answered. "What's it to ya!"
"So…" the mage Digimon said slowly, "You're not one of Cherubimon's allies?"
"Are you kidding?" Zoe commented. "If we were, we would've attacked by now!"
"Zoe has a point," Kagome spoke up. "So you put that wand down before someone gets hurt!"
"We're all on the same side," Koji added, "Isn't it obvious?"
"My apologies," the Digimon brought his wand down. "This is what becomes of fighting too much; everyone seems to be an enemy. I apologize, friends; how did you find this place?"
"We received a message from someone telling us to come to the Forest Terminal," Takuya explained, "but when we arrived, there was no one there and when we kept walking, we ended up here instead."
"A message…I wonder, could it be…?" the mage Digimon muttered to himself. Suddenly his eyes widened. "My apologies, my solitude has driven common courtesy from me; my name is Sorcermon," he gave them all a bow in greeting. "Please come in, I have something important to show you." And with that, Sorcermon walked into the crystal palace.
Each of the DigiDestined looked at each other warily and nodded. Even if this Digimon seemed to be kind, they would need to keep their guards up.
A~Different~Frontier
"Where are you taking us?" Koji asked as the mage Digimon led them all down a crystalline hall.
"To meet someone," Sorcermon replied cryptically.
"I bet it's a trap," the navy-haired boy muttered.
"You think everything's trap," Tommy said amusedly.
"Ah, but it is wise to practice caution nowadays, friends," Sorcermon spoke "but only within reason. This, friends, is no trap." Here the Digimon stopped before what seemed like a solid crystal wall and turned to looked at them. "This is a prophecy."
Suddenly, the wall before them glowed and burst open with a bang, causing the group to gasp in awe.
"So where's the guy you wanted us to meet?" J.P asked as Sorcermon led them into a large, intricately designed crystal room.
"Up there," Sorcermon stopped at a certain place and pointed up with his staff to show a figure encased within a crystal structure of its own. "Allow me to introduce you to our salvation, Lord Seraphimon."
"We mean no offense," Kagome said, "But we don't really know who that is…"
"None taken," Sorcermon shook his head. "Seraphimon was one of the three Celestial Digimon chosen to rule this world."
"So what are we supposed to do?" Takuya asked. "He's all frozen up!"
"Yes, but perhaps not for long," Sorcermon told them. "As I said before, there is a prophecy."
"Let your lights and Spirits shine as one!" The voice of the mysterious woman who'd been sending those messages echoed around the room.
"That was Lady Ophanimon!" Sorcermon looked around hopefully. "She was the one who ordered me to guard the Lord Seraphimon!"
"Ophanimon?" Takuya repeated. "Then she must be the one who told us to come here! She must've been the one sending all those messages!"
"Of course," Sorcermon breathed out, looking at the group of humans with new eyes. "Everything is falling into place now! I brought you here because the Prophecy stated that one day the six chosen ones will arrive to free my Lord Seraphimon."
"Typical," Bokomon sniffed, "Humans get to do everything! When is it going to be my turn?"
"How about next week?" Neemon suggested good naturedly.
"Be quiet you," Bokomon snapped his companion's waistband.
"Okay, so what did Ophanimon mean by lights and Spirits?" Koji asked.
"The lights probably have something to do with our D-Tectors, I think," Zoe commented. "Remember what was happening on our way here?"
"But what about Spirits?" Tommy asked. "Everyone but Zoe has hers, and until we can get it back from Grumblemon, what do we do?"
"I don't think it really means that we actually use our Spirits," Kagome said slowly.
"What do you mean?" Takuya asked.
"Do you remember what I told you about your auras?" the raven-haired girl asked. "How they changed when we got our Spirits?"
The group nodded, while Koji looked confused.
"I think when we got our Spirits," Kagome explained, "they bound themselves to us. So no matter who takes them, only we'll be able to use them."
"But what does that have to do with freeing him?" J.P pointed to Seraphimon.
"What do each of your Spirits represent?" Kagome asked.
"Ice," Tommy answered. Suddenly, a soft white stream of light shot out from his D-Tector. "Whoa, what just happened?"
"Let me try," J.P spoke. "Thunder!" A blue bolt of light shot out of his own D-Tector.
"Let's do it!" Takuya nodded. "Flame!"
"Light!"
"Wind!"
"Moon!"
Streams of red light, a bluish-white light, pink, and azure joined the two that were already present. "Focus them together on Seraphimon!" Kagome ordered.
One by one, each of the lights converged at the same point on Seraphimon's crystal shell, where they sparked and crackled, the lights combining and enveloping the entire structure. Soon a loud bang echoed in the room as the crystal casing shattered and Seraphimon floated down gently.
"Welcome back, my Lord Seraphimon," Sorcermon bowed in greeting.
(AN: I'm feeling a bit lazy so I won't be describing how Seraphimon looks. If you don't remember his appearance, you can rewatch episode 13 or go onto the Digimon Wiki and search him up.)
"It's good to be back," the silver, blue and gold armoured Digimon. "Thank you, my friend. But, please, tell me of what has happened. I remember so little before my awakening."
"My Lord," Sorcermon explained, "When your defeat seemed imminent, Lady Ophanimon was able to get you to safety. She sealed you away from danger so that you could be revived after the trouble had passed."
"That's right!" Seraphimon exclaimed. "Ophanimon! Where is she? Why is she not here? Is she all right?"
The mage Digimon physically drooped. "The truth is often unpleasant, I'm afraid," he said, "No one knows where the Lady is or how she is for that matter. But these humans seemed to have been in contact with her." He gestured to the six humans standing behind Seraphimon.
"These humans?" Seraphimon said in disbelief. "But they're just…children!"
"Yes," Bokomon spoke up, "But they're also Legendary Warriors and if it weren't for them, you'd still be stuck to the ceiling!"
"Legendary Warriors?" The armoured Digimon said in surprise. "Impressive…"
"Hey, listen," Takuya said irritated, "just what is going on here? We've been led all over, getting the snot kicked out of us, and we to top it all off, we don't even know why the heck we were even brought into this world!"
"I agree," Zoe nodded, "Someone owes us some answers!"
"And I think you're that someone," Koji said. "So tell us what's going on!"
"Um, please?" Tommy added hesitantly.
Seraphimon was silent for a moment. No one could tell just what he was thinking, as his entire face was covered by an armoured helmet, but they hoped he'd at least tell them what they needed to know.
"Very well, Brave Ones," the Celestial Digimon said finally, turning to them fully, "I shall give the answers that which you seek."
'Why the heck does it sound like he's treating this like a storytime session for kids?' Kagome sweat-dropped before tuning in just in time for Seraphimon's explanation.
"It began long ago when Human Digimon and Beast Digimon warred against one another," Seraphimon spoke, "Their battle laid waste to the Digital World, befouling what was once beautiful. The fighting had only ceased when Lucemon appeared and for a time, he ruled peacefully." Seraphimon's tone became grave. "But soon, he became obsessed and corrupted by his own power."
"My, this tale certainly sounds familiar," Bokomon commented.
"Bokomon!" the DigiDestined shushed the white Digimon.
"What?" Bokomon asked.
"The Twelve Legendary Warriors rose to free the oppressed an abused Digimon," the Celestial Digimon continued as though he hadn't been interrupted. "They fought valiantly and after a long struggle, the Legendary Warriors were able to defeat the tyrannical Lucemon! After peace was restored to the Digital World, Champions were chosen to maintain that peace; Cherubimon, Ophanimon, and myself. But as before, our time of harmony was short-lived. Cherubimon wanted total control of the Digital World, and so attacked me; you know the rest of the story thanks to Sorcermon. Ophanimon rescued me and sealed me away here, where I slumbered to regain my strength until the day I would be awoken by you Legendary Warriors."
"And you came just in time just when we needed Seraphimon most," Sorcermon interjected now. He held out his staff and a 3D image of the Digital World was projected above the snowflake. "As you can see, the Digital World is in a crisis."
"Man, the Digital World looks like swiss cheese!" Takuya observed the image.
"Yes," the mage Digimon said, "And the future looks even bleaker as Cherubimon has sent his minions to destroy this world."
"This is even more serious than I'd imagined," the Celestial Digimon said, alarmed, "We must find Ophanimon at once!"
"Yes My Lord," Sorcermon nodded, "You're combined might will surely defeat Cherubimon. And of course, you will have me by your side as well."
"Your bravery gives me strength, my friend," Seraphimon nodded. "Thank you, Sorcermon."
"It is as you have taught me, My Lord," Sorcermon said.
"And no I have one more favour to ask of you," here the armoured Digimon turned to the humans, "I thank you for the bravery and courage you have shown, but now I must implore you that before the fighting begins, that you go back to your own world!"
"What?" the group gasped.
"This world is already dangerous as it is and will only become increasingly so as time goes by and a war begins," Seraphimon told them.
"Milord," Kagome spoke up when Takuya opened his mouth to speak, "I know you mean well, but you know that we can fight. And it's not just that; we don't know how to get home."
"Ev—" Seraphimon was cut off by a loud bang as one of the walls of the chamber caved in to reveal Grumblemon with three other Digimon with him.
A~Different~Frontier
The first Digimon was in dark-green armour with red accents, pointed jester-like shoes, a circular mirror with lips as its face, a mirror was situated in its torso, and two large circular mirrors were attached to each arm like a pair of shields.
A~Different~Frontier
The second Digimon resembled the designing of a frog and had pale-green skin and red eyes. She was clothed in light-blue clothing with darker blue accents, the outfit resembling a halter-neck backless bathing suit. She wore two light-blue anklets, two light-blue gauntlets on her arm with darker blue accents and a red gem in each, and a light blue headpiece with darker blue accents and a red gem in the centre.
A~Different~Frontier
The third Digimon looked like a cross between a man and a phoenix. He had lightly tanned skin on his upper body where he also had tattoos etched and feathery scuffs on his wrists, but from his lower body sprouted two bird legs with maroon feathers. His head was covered by a black helmet, from which a large beak sprouted in the front and a short flaming high-ponytail in the back. From his aback sprouted four wings of maroon, and feathers that faded from red to orange to yellow.
A black, silver and red circular spaulder covered his left shoulder front which a purple sash connected to a maroon belt in the front and back that held up raggedy piece of cloth covering the front of his lower half and the back. A long feather that faded from red to orange to yellow hung off both sides of the maroon belt.
(AN: I have a drawing of both him and his Beast Spirit, but I won't be posting either until I figure out just how I'm going to colour the Beast Spirit…)
A~Different~Frontier
The last Digimon looked like it was entirely made of wood. It was white with orange-brown accents, but you could see the woodwork and cogs that kept him moving from his torso. All you would see of his eyes were two glowing yellow dots from where his head was and his mouth seemed to be a circular gap with pointed silver teeth clenched together.
A~Different~Frontier
"Look, whole brat brigade here!" Grumblemon chuckled.
"And ready to fight!" Takuya said, already in a battle stance.
"You better be," Grumblemon gave a mailocious smile, "Because me introduce other Digimon who defeat you!"
"Ranamon, Warrior of Water."
"Charmed I'm sure," the blue Digimon that was clearly female said in a thick southern accent.
"Arbormon, Warrior of Wood."
"You're in for now, ay?" The wooden Digimon said in a sort of lazy and slow accent.
(AN: I've heard the accent before, but I just couldn't place it, so the description I gave was the best I could put it as.)
"Soaremon, Warrior of Sun."
"I'll enjoy burning you to a crisp," the bird-human hybrid chuckled darkly.
"And finally, Mercurymon, Warrior of Steel!"
"So these be the whelps that have given thee so much trouble?" The mirror-adorned Digimon chuckled. "Pathetic."
"Well they tougher than look," Grumblemon defended himself.
"Well then, twill will be utter delight to defeat the whelps and Seraphimon in the name of Cherubimon!" Mercurymon spoke.
'Someone's a little obsessed with Shakespeare…' Kagome thought, blinking.
(AN: Did the best I could with that line there, but I couldn't make it out very well and I couldn't find any episodes scripts to clarify that line either.)
"Oh there are so many options, I don't know where to start!" Ranamon squealed.
"Enough of your meaningless taunts!" Seraphimon roared. "Tell me where Ophanimon is NOW!"
"Me no care about her," Grumblemon lifted his hammer, "Me just want Beast Spirit back, so give it!"
"The why don't you come and get it, buddy?" Takuya challenged.
"Zoe, take this and stay with Bokomon and Neemon," Kagome handed Zoe a sutra from inside her pounch, her D-Tector in her other hand.
"What is it?" the blonde asked.
"A sutra," Kagome explained quickly, "it'll protect you, just make sure you hold onto it and stay close to Bokomon and Neemon. I've made it so that no one else can see the barrier that'll be around you three, just keep it hidden and out of sight."
"Right," Zoe nodded and tucked the piece of paper into her skirt pocket before backing away to where the two small Digimon were.
"Execute: Spirit Evolution!" Five of the six DigiDestined called out.
"Agunimon!"
"Lobomon!"
"Selínimon!"
"Beetlemon!"
"Kumamon!"
"The Legendary Warriors have returned!" Sorcermon breathed with wide eyes.
"Let's get warmed up, shall we?" Agunimon spoke. "Pyro Punch!" He shot of two blasts of fire at their enemies, but the five Digimon were left unharmed as they were able to dodge the attack.
"Oooh, feisty, I like it!" Ranamon fluttered her eyelashes at Agunimon. "You're just better off shooting out the floor, Suga!"
(AN: If you remember Ranamon's way of speech that would be pronounced shoo-guh)
"Howling Laser!"
"Thunder Fist!"
"Crystal Breeze!"
"Moonlight Shower!"
One by one each of Cherubimon's henchmen dodged each attack unscathed.
"Thanks for the unnecessary lesson in combat, honey," Ranamon smirked. "But I think it's time for a pro to show ya how it's done!" She lifted her hands up into the air and clapped once. "Drainin' Rain!"
Selínimon quickly struck out her seven-pointed star and liked she had done so before, used it as a shield to protect them all. "Polaris Strike!"
The Warrior of the Moon was able to protect her friends from Ranamon's attack but was quickly knocked away along with the others by Arbormon's Roundhouse Punt and Soaremon's Phoenix Barrage. Each of the Five Legendary Warriors were smashed into the crystal walls of the chamber.
"Now I take Beast Spirit back," Grumblemon advance on Agunimon, his hammer raised and poised to strike.
"No Grumblemon!" Sorcermon shouted.
"I beg your pardon?" Mercurymon sneered.
"You shall not lead us down the path of ruin!" the mage Digimon spoke. "I have waited a lifetime for peace to return to the Digital World and I'll not let you stop that from happening!" He held his wand out. "Crystal Barrage!" Crystal shards were shot at Mercurymon, who only absorbed them into one mirror.
"Thou art a fool!" He turned and held the other mirror at the forefront. "Dark Reflection!" the same attack that Sorcermon had just used was used once more on its owner, but tinged in a dark hue.
Sorcermon cried out in pain as he was hit with a few of the shards, the others destroying his wand.
"Sorcermon!" Seraphimon, caught the mage Digimon as he fell.
"Worry not for me, My Lord," Sorcermon said weakly.
The Celestial Digimon looked up and flew off just as Mercurymon ran at him, he landed before Agunimon and the rest of the DigiDestined, placing Sorcermon down with them. Seraphimon faced Grumblemon, Arbormon, Soaremon, and Ranamon as he placed his hands in position. "Strike of the Seven Stars!" Seven gold stars glowed brightly as they were shot off at the four Digimon, striking them into the roof of the chamber.
"Please I ask again that you leave this world and return to your own!" Seraphimon told the DigiDestined once more.
"We won't leave you to do this on your own!" Agunimon retoted.
"You need us!" Kumamon added.
"Besides," Beetelmon spoke up, repeating what Kagome said before, "Even if we wanted to leave, we don't even know how to get home!"
"I can't fight them and keep you safe!" Seraphimon tried once again. "Please leave!"
"Are you even listening?! We already told you," Selínimon told him, "Had we wanted to leave, we would, but as it is, we don't and like J.P said, we don't even know how to get home! And where would we go if we left, anyway? Cherubimon and his henchmen would still come after us to get our Spirits even if we left this place to find a way home!"
Mercurymon hummed as a smirk appeared on his mirrored face. "That foolish compassion be his weakness! Attack the humans and keep him distracted!" he ordered.
By this time Ranamon, Arbormon, Soaremon, and Grumblemon had recovered from Seraphimon's attack. Doing as their fellow Warrior ordered, they advanced upon the DigiDestined.
Grumblemon smirked as he lifted up his hammer, "Me hope you ready for good beating!"
"Drainin' Rain!"
"Roundhouse Punt!"
"Phoenix Barrage!"
The DigiDestined were unable to do anything, as Seraphimon refused to let them fight. They watched helplessly as the Celestial Digimon powered up his attack. "Strike of the Seven Stars!"
However, right at the moment, Seraphimon would have launched his attack, Mercurymon appeared out of nowhere, a mirror held out before him, absorbing Seraphimon's attack. "Dark Reflection!"
The group and Sorcermon could only watch in horror as Seraphimon let out a cry pain when he was hit with a darker version of his own attack. A Fractal Code ring rotated around the Celestial Digimon's darkened silhouette.
"No My Lord!" Sorcermon shouted.
Mercurymon only laughed. "To the victor go the spoils!' He held a mirror out and slowly Seraphimon's Fractal Code was absorbed into it, leaving behind a Digi-Egg that glowed white and swirled around with a Fractal Code pattern.
"Seraphimon turned into a Digi-Egg!" Agunimon exclaimed.
"How ironic," Mercurymon spoke, "Seraphimon sought to end Cherubimon, but now his Fractal Code shall be used for the end of this world!"
"T-This cannot be!" Sorcermon said mororsely. "The hope of the Digital World is gone!"
"No it's not!" Zoe shouted, catching the Digi-Egg when it solidified into a cerulean egg with a gold symbol on it. "If we've got his Digi-Egg, there's got to be a way to bring Seraphimon back again, right Sorcermon? Hey!"
"What?" Sorcermon's head snapped up. "Yes, that's right; we must protect that egg at all costs! If we can get that egg to Lady Ophanimon, she may be able to revive Seraphimon!"
"Thou shan't get far, my pretties," Mercurymon vowed as he and his four allies stepped towards the DigiDestined, the group crowding around Zoe, who held the egg protectively in her arms. "Trust me."
"Be not stupid!" the Warrior of Steel mocked.
"What too afraid to take on a couple kids?" Beetlemon taunted.
"So be it; thy fate is sealed," Mercurymon chuckled darkly as each of Cherubimon's henchmen stepped forward with a malicious smile on their faces, all of them ready to attack. "We shall take it by unpleasant, painful, agonizing force!"
"Such arrogance shall be your downfall!" Sorcermon snapped his fingers and the wall behind the DigiDestined shattered with a bright blinding light. "Come," he whispered to the DigiDestined and their Digimon companions, "we must go, quickly!"
He led them through a small door embedded in a brick wall and down a stone passageway. By now each of the Legendary Warriors had turned back to their human forms and were now running as fast as they could after Sorcermon. "Hurry, we don't have much time!"
"Well duh!" J.P huffed.
BOOM!
The explosion rattled the passageway as Grumblemon and his allies entered the corridor. "We coming to get you!"
"Use this to get out of here," Sorcermon snapped his fingers once again and a secret door opened to reveal a Trailmon that resembled a duck.
"Wow a getaway Trailmon!" J.P exclaimed.
"Thank goodness!" Takuya sighed in relief. He looked at his friends, "Let's get going!"
Zoe, J.P, Tommy, and Kagome hopped on inside the Trailmon while Koji and Takuya leapt onto the sides and held on tight.
"Sorcermon, hurry up!" Zoe looked back at the mage Digimon.
"I'll not be going with you, Legendary Warriors," the mage Digimon shook his head.
"What?" Kagome breathed out, looking alarmed.
"The Egg is all that matters now and I must ensure its safety," Sorcermon explained. "Now go! I'll hold off those goons for as long as I can!"
"You don't stand a chance against them!" Takuya shouted.
"Take care of My Lord Seraphimon," Sorcermon pleaded, "He is our last hope." He snapped his fingers one last time, making the doorway close and disappear.
"No Sorcermon!" Tommy screamed.
"Tommy that isn't going to be helping anyone," Zoe said wearily. She looked down at the Digi-Egg in her arms. "I can't believe this is all that's left of Seraphimon…I'm never letting go of this Egg, not for anything…"
"That Egg may be the most important thing in the Digital World right now," Takuya spoke, "It's its last hope! All of Cherubimon's forces are going to be gunning for it; so no matter what happens, we have to protect that Egg. I hate to say it guys, but I guess it's up to us now!"
Suddenly, they all yelped and struggled to hold on as the Trailmon sped up to a speed faster than they were originally going at or were used to, for that matter.
"Hey bud, could you go any faster?" Koji asked sarcastically.
The Trailmon, it seemed, didn't catch the sarcasm. "No problem, just hold onto your bandanna!" he answered in a rough voice as he sped up.
"Koji!" They all yelled together.
"What?" the navy-haired boy shouted back. "I was being sarcastic! How was I supposed to know he was going to take me seriously?"
"Zoe, Kagome," Takuya called back as they rounded another curve, "If everyone okay back there?"
"We've been better!" the blonde shouted back as she and Kagome held onto each other to secure the Digi-Egg.
"One way is fun," the Trailmon spoke, "the other way we're done."
"Oh man, there's two of 'em!" Koji exclaimed when he saw the fork in the road. "How do you know which way to go?"
"Don't know," the Trailmon replied, "For da direction of da trails, you look to da rails…We on the right track now!" And with that, the Trailmon sped off into the right tunnel. "Yeaaah!"
Meanwhile inside the Trailmon, Bokomon looked at the two girls contemplatively before nodding. "May I have a word?"
The girls looked up at the small white Digimon.
"I want you to give me Seraphimon's Egg," Bokomon told them, "I'll care for it, after all, I know more about its special needs."
"Special needs?" Zoe repeated.
"Like for instance it needs to be protected and nurtured by someone with life experience," Bokomon replied as he took the egg and stuffed it into his waistband.
"Have you been a Mommy before?" Neemon asked.
Bokomon wasn't able to answer because suddenly a soft, white glow came over the egg and a small shock passed through the small white Digimon.
"What's going on?" J.P asked.
"Beast me," Tommy looked on in awe as the Digi-Egg rose up out of Bokomon's waistband and floated around the inside of the Trailmon, stopping in front of each of the DigiDestined's faces, even Neemon's, for a few seconds.
"What d'you think it's doing?" the young boy asked.
"It's probably trying to figure out who'd be best to take care of it," Kagome tilted her head at the egg. "I wonder who it'll choose, since Bokomon clearly wasn't its first choice?"
"Speaking of the little guy," J.P looked around the Trailmon for the small white Digimon and saw him hiding away in a corner, mumbling about how he was "denied the chance to be a mommy", "It looks like he's not taking Seraphimon's choice too well…"
It was then that the Digi-Egg stopped rotating about the car and stopped before Kagome's face. The raven-haired half-demon blinked at it for a few seconds. "Wait, me?!" she all but shrieked. "How the heck am I supposed to mother a Digimon?" 'I know I did it for Shippo and Rin, but they still grew up without me!'
"You'll be a great mom, Kagome," Tommy grinned, watching the egg lower itself snugly into Kagome's arms. "I'm sure of it."
"I'll try," Kagome sighed. She looked over at Bokomon and then back at the Digi-Egg again. "Bokomon?"
"What is it?" the small white Digimon moped.
"If I ever need help taking care of him or if I need someone to watch him for a bit," Kagome spoke to the little Digimon, "will you do that for me?"
Bokomon's head snapped up to look at Kagome for a few seconds before his eyes glowed with stars. "Of course I will! I swear it on my life!"
"Just a 'yes' would've done perfectly," Kagome sweat-dropped along with the others in the Trailmon.
"Hold on there, guys!" Takuya called out. "It's getting rough again!"
The Trailmon rattled violently in proportion to the speed it was going at, it wasn't until Koji and Takuya looked on ahead did they screamed bloody murder.
"Hold on tight everybody," Koji shouted back to the rest inside the Trailmon, "We're gonna take the plunge!"
"As I always say," the Trailmon cackled as it flew across a huge gap and landing on another disconnected rail, "One track always deserves another."
"I think I lost a couple years off my life!" J.P groaned.
"I think I'm gonna be sick," Neemon said, looking a little green.
A~Different~Frontier
It wasn't until a little later did were they able to get off the Trailmon and into what looked like a cave.
"End of the line and all's fine," the Trailmon said. "Happy trails!"
The DigiDestined and their Digimon companions all waved good bye to the Trailmon as it sped backwards along the tracks.
"I can't believe he'd gonna go back all the way home like that," Tommy shook his head.
Zoe looked at Kagome holding onto Seraphimon's Digi-Egg. "Kagome," she took off her beanie, "Here, I want you to have this. You can put Seraphimon's Egg in it to keep it warm and it'll probably make it easier on you to carry."
"But—" Kagome looked at Zoe, ready to refuse the offer.
"It's okay," Zoe urged on, pushing the hat towards her friend, "Besides, it looks like he needs it more than I do right now."
Kagome's eyes softened. She reached up and took the small charm Touga had given her and quickly attached it to the end of her scarf, just above the bells Lunamon had given her. She then tugged the ribbon around her neck loose and handed it to Zoe.
"If you give me your Hat, then the least I can do is give you my ribbon," the raven-haired teen smiled at her blonde friend, "I know you use your hat to keep your hair out of the way, and it'll be pretty hard to do that if you don't have something to pull it back."
Zoe smiled. "Thanks," she took the ribbon and tied her hair off into a quick high-ponytail with it and helped Kagome placed Seraphimon's Digi-Egg into her beanie before being securely clutched in Kagome's arms.
"Uh, didn't Zoe have the egg first?" Takuya asked, looking as clueless as Koji was at the moment.
"We'll talk about that later," Kagome interrupted J.P as he was about to explain what had happened. "Right now, we need to go before Grumblemon and the others catch up to us!"
"Right!" the rest of the group nodded, running through an extension of the cave.
"Look, there's a light up ahead!" Takuya exclaimed. "It could be our way out of here!"
"Let's just hope it leads outside," Koji said.
However, upon reaching the end of the tunnel, the group could only gasp. "Oh man, this doesn't look like outside to me!" J.P moaned. "Does this look like outside to you?" They were in what seemed to be in a giant underground cavern with a moderately large pool of water in the centre.
"Well duh!" Zoe pointed out. "It's an underground cavern."
"Well where's the exit, then?" Takuya asked.
"There's got to be one somewhere," Koji replied, "Let's go."
"Hey wait for us!" Tommy called out as he and Kagome followed along with Neemon and Bokomon right behind them. "If Grumblemon finds us, we'll be in big trouble!"
"So how exactly did you get the egg?" Takuya asked as they ran down the slope.
"Long story short," Kagome explained, "Bokomon took the egg first, the egg didn't like him, and the next thing I know, it comes to me and boom I'm now Mama-Kagome!"
The entire DigiDestined and their Digimon friends, after getting down the slope, started patting and hitting against the walls of the cavern.
"No dice," Koji said, "These walls just won't give; it looks like they're completely made of solid rock."
"Yeah," Takuya agreed, "It looks like this cavern's just a dead end! Beans!"
"Then we've got no other choice but to back the way we came," Tommy spoke up.
"That's what I was sayin'!" J.P put his hands on his hips.
""Maybe we passed by an exit in the tunnel or something?" Zoe suggested. "It's worth a try."
All of a sudden, the water in the pool started to move before suddenly a strong jet of water struck J.P and Tommy.
"TOMMY!" the group shouted together worriedly.
Kagome watched in worry as Tommy seemed dazed and even a bit drowsy. "Oh no, if he hit his head and falls asleep…oh…"
Suddenly, the pool of water shot up into the ceiling, causing the entire cavern to rock violently.
"Mamma Mia!" Zoe exclaimed.
"What in the world—?" Kagome gaped at the column of water.
"Definitely—" Takuya began.
"Not good," Koji finished.
It was then that the column of water dispersed to reveal a large brown whale with a blue underside roaring at them loudly.
"What on earth is Whamon doing down here?" Bokomon commented. "He lives in the ocean!"
"Who is Whamon?" Zoe asked.
"Whamon is a whale Digimon," Bokomon explained loudly for everyone to hear, "and he seems to be quite out of his element."
"I can't stand it anymore, do you hear me?!" Whamon shouted, thrashing around in the pool of water. "I can't stand it!"
"Ordinarily, he's a gentle Digimon," Bokomon's brow furrowed, "Something must really be upsetting him."
"I wanna go home! I wanna go home! I wanna go home!" Whamon sobbed.
"We've gotta stop him before he brings the entire cavern down on us!" Koji called out the others.
"Ready when you are, then!" Takuya said, unsure of himself and the situation at hand.
"Execute: Spirit Evolution!" Takuya and Koji whipped out their D-Tectors in unison as Fractal Code columns rose up around them.
"Lobomon!"
"Agunimon!"
Lobomon and Agunimon both landed on Whamon's back. "Okay, big guy, just calm down," the Warrior of Light said calmly.
"Yeah, what's wrong with you anyway?" Agunimon asked.
"I hate being alone!" Whamon sobbed.
"But you're not alone now," Kagome said soothingly, daring to take a step closer to the water pool.
"Kagome stay away!" Lobomon shouted at the girl over Whamon's voice, but the raven-haired girl just ignored him.
Kagome took a step closer. "We won't hurt you, it's okay…" 'What do I do? He needs to calm down, but he's so lost in his own sorrow that he can't hear any of us! How can I calm him down?' She looked down at the Digi-Egg in thought as an idea occurred to her. 'This'll be a little risky and definitely embarrassing as heck, but maybe I can calm him the way I used to do for Shippo when he was younger and I was older…'
Kagome took a deep breath and released a little of her aura around Whamon. Slowly, she began sining to a melody, though there seemed to be no words.
(AN: I'd look up the InuYasha track called 'Futari no Kimochi' right about now.)
The group watched in surprise and awe as Whamon calmed down little by little as Kagome's song went on. By then time she was finished singing, the whale Digimon had stopped thrashing around and was sitting quietly and still in the water pool.
Kagome slushed at the stares she received. 'Cripes, I knew this would be beyond embarrassing!'
"Wow," Agunimon blinked down at their friend. "Did you know she could do that?" The question was directed at Lobomon, who was just as shocked as the rest of their friends.
"Nope," Lobomon blinked. "I didn't even know she could sing! And exactly why are you asking me?" He gave a narrowed glance to Agunimon.
"Just wondering," the Warrior of Flame said quickly.
With that, he and Agunimon leaped off of Whamon's back to stand next the rest of the group, who'd crowded around Kagome near the water pool as she was singing.
"There, now, Whamon," Zoe said soothingly, "You seem to be feeling a bit better, Whamon. Now will you tell us what got you so upset?"
"Oh I hate this place!" Whamon sobbed loudly, "I just want to go back home to the ocean! Until recently, I was swimming happy and free in the sea, not a care in the world! And then one day I saw these delicious looking glowing plants; I couldn't resist taking a little nibble and they were quite good, too! Then I found myself being sucked into a giant hole and the next thing I knew, I was stuck in this place with no way out!"
"Here we go again," Agunimon sighed.
"You don't have to be such a big crybaby about it," Lobomon told Whamon.
"He's sure losing a lot of water, is that normal?" Neemon commented.
"No idea," Bokomon blinked.
"Oh have a heart," Kagome scolded her friends.
"Yeah," Zoe agreed, "He's just homesick and wants to go home. Just like we did a while back!"
The two girls started cooing to Whamon, trying to get him to calm down again.
"Does he really think all this blubbering's gonna get us out of here?" J.P spoke, but doubling over, a hand to his chest.
"Hey, are you okay, J.P?" Tommy asked worriedly.
"I'll be fine," J.P gave a small smile to the younger boy, trying not to worry him.
"I'm so sorry!" Whamon sobbed ever louder than before. "I-I-It's my fault you're stuck down here a-a-and that you got hurt! I'm so sorry!"
"You're forgiven, it's no big deal," J.P told the whale Digimon.
"Well, you're not alone now, remember?" Kagome told Whamon. "We're stuck down here, too."
"And maybe with your help, we can find a way out of here!" Zoe smiled at the large Digimon.
And just like that, Whamon's tears ceased. "Really? Okay!"
Surprised, the group stumbled back a few steps.
But then, suddenly, Whamon shot up into the air and started screaming in what seemed to be pain. When he fell back into the pool, the group of eight saw that Whamon had fallen back into a quickly draining water pool.
"What's going on here?!" Lobomon asked.
"Whatever it is, it's certainly not natural," Bokomon mused.
Suddenly, a mound of dirt rose from inside the pool; when the mound dissipated, there stood Grumblemon with a malicious smirk upon his lips. "Nowhere hide now!"
"Grumblemon!" the DigiDestined said with contempt clear in their voices.
"Me glad to see you again," the troll-like Digimon spoke, "only this time, me going to steal your Spirits good!"
"You're an annoying little troll," Lobomon said, bored, "You know that?"
"You've been trying to steal our Spirits how many times now?" Agunimon asked. "And how many times have you failed? Seriously, you should just give up 'cause you're never gonna get our Spirits!"
Grumblemon only used his hand to mime whatever Agunimon had said. "You no afraid now, but you should be!" And with that, he took out a small teal phial and uncorked it, releasing a shower of magenta sparkles all over the cavern.
Just then, all over the ceiling of the cavern and on the ground around them, hundreds of glowing red circles appeared, each producing a single Golemon.
"Me nod need Gigasmon's Spirit," Grumblemon smirked, "But me have other powers, too! You no can beat cause Earth Spirits be mine! Me first to find you so Mercurymon and others no get to you! Hope you like me friends!"He then shouted loudly, "GET THEM!"
"Pryo Tornado!" Agunimon swung a roundhouse kick at four Golemon, decimating them.
"Lobo Kendo!" Lobomon sliced through a little less than a dozen Golemon.
"Bokomon, take the Egg," Kagome ordered. She took out her D-Tector. "Execute: Spirit Evolution!" The familiar Fractal Code column surrounded Kagome as she once again became the Warrior of the Moon. "Selínimon!"
Selínimon jumped into the fray and whipped off her chain, striking out her seven-pointed star. "Polaris Strike!" She let her star fly, slicing through at least five or six Golemon.
"Excuse me," Bokomon said, panicked, "We could use a little help here!"
Selínimon, Lobomon, and Agunimon turned towards J.P, Zoe, Tommy, Bokomon, and Neemon to see them getting cornered by at least a dozen Golemon.
"Hold on!" Selínimon shouted, already flying over to them.
"We're coming!" Lobomon leapt at the same time as Agunimon, however both found themselves grabbed by the necks and being pulled back.
"Roundhouse Punt!"
Selínimon cried out when she was kicked out of the air and slammed into the ground just by Bokomon and the rest with him.
"Kagome!" Tommy and Zoe shouted worriedly, but the Warrior of the Moon wouldn't wake.
"Fishin' is always the best medicine, right?" Arbormon commented.
"Hey let 'em—ARGH!" J.P doubled over in pain.
"You can't fight in this condition!" Zoe and Tommy ran over to the teen in blue, leaving Bokomon and Neemon with Selínimon.
"She's right," Bokomon said, "the best thing to do now is hide!" Coincidentally enough, he was hiding behind Neemon while he said that.
"Hey, good hiding!" Neemon looked behind him at his friend.
"I refuse to just hide and give up!" J.P winced.
"You can't be thinking about going out there!" Tommy said worriedly. "Agunimon and Lobomon should be able to think of something, we just have to trust them."
"Oh Zoe, think," the blonde mutter, not seeing J.P glance at her, "Oh if only I could Spirit Evolve…"
"Oh Kagome, you have to wake up," Bokomon ran out from behind Neemon with Seraphimon's Egg in his waistband. Bokomon's worry only increased when Selínimon turned back into Kagome, still unconscious.
"Oh no, Kagome!" Zoe looked at her friend anxiously.
J.P, Zoe, and Tommy could only watch as Lobomon and Agunimon get beaten by Arbormon until their Fractal Code was visible, though their silhouettes weren't blackened out just yet.
"Oh man I don't know how much longer they can keep going!" Tommy looked on at his friends in concern.
"Tommy, you look out for Zoe and the others," J.P stepped up, "I'm the only one that can help them right now. You're hurt and Kagome's out for the count! There's no way I'm gonna stand around and let Grumblemon hurt my friends!" He whipped out his D-Tector. "Execute: Spirit Evolution!" His Fractal Code column appeared around him, dissipating to reveal the Warrior of Thunder. "Beetlemon!"
"Then I'm with ya," Tommy stepped up determinedly beside Beetlemon.
"You sure?" Beetlemon asked.
Tommy only nodded. "Execute: Spirit Evolution!" His Fractal Code column rose up around him and within seconds, there stood the Legendary Warrior of Ice. "Kumamon!"
"You ready to rock these bloackheads?" Bettlemon asked.
"Let's roll!" Kumamon nodded.
"Thunder Fist!" Beetlemon struck the ground, his thunder conducting through it to strike at least a dozen Golemon.
"Crystal Breeze!" Kumamon breathed an icy wind over about four Golemon, causing them to crumble easily.
"I'm tired of you going around and doing whatever you want whenever you want to, no matter how it affects anyone else!" Beetlemon's fists were charging up with electricity. "I'm going to make you pay for what you've done! Thunder Fist!"
"You kidding, right?" Grumblemon snickered as Beetlemon launched himself at the Golemon Grumblemon was situated on top of.
"Sulfur Plume!" the Golemon let out a gust of ashy-hued wind at Beetlemon, knocking him into the ground, the force of it causing him to revert back to J.P.
"Oh no, J.P!" Zoe cried out.
"If you think he's doing badly, look at Takuya and Koji!" Toomy's voice shook, pointing to Arbor, who was surrounded by a Fractal Code column.
"Execute: Slide Evolution!" Arobormon called out loud enough for everyone to hear. "Petaldramon!"
A~Different~Frontier
Petaldramon look like giant four-legged moss-covered log with twin tails, brown root-like spikes sticking up out of its back, maroon leaves around its head as a mane, and three of the same leaves stuck out of each of his feet as toes.
A~Different~Frontier
"That's definitely one ugly flower!" Zoe scrunched her nose up at the image.
"You can say that again," Kumamon sweat-dropped despite the situation.
Just then, Grumblemon's shout tore their gazes back to J.P. "Seismic Sledge!" He jumped at the teen in blue, hammer raised and poised to attack.
"Blasting Spout!" J.P, Zoe, and Kumamon gasped when they saw Grumblemon being hit from behind with a strong jet of water, propelling him into the cavern wall.
"Hey, it's Whamon!" Kumamon grinned. "He's okay!"
"And look what came out of his spout!" Zoe gasped, pointing to a small figurine that glowed blue and stopped before J.P.
A~Different~Frontier
The small figurine remsembled a blue tank with a large cannon atop its head with yellow and silver accents.
A~Different~Frontier
"Is that what I think it is…?" Bokomon's eyes widened.
"It's-It's my Beast Spirit," J.P said in awe. 'I can't believe it…'
Bokomon looked down at the girl he was looking after when he heard a small moan. "Kagome? Kagome, are you all right?"
Eyes opened to reveal, slightly dazed and confused icy-blue orbs. "Bokomon? Neemon? What happened?"
"Arbormon knocked you out for a bit," Bokomon explained, "but now, it seems that J.P has found his Beast Spirit…"
"He has?" Kagome sat up, with help from the two small Digimon with her. "That's great! But wait, will he be able to control it? You remember how much trouble we ran into with Takuya's Beast Spirit and then Koji's, though he managed to tame it quicker than Takuya did."
"Ohh," Whamon chuckled, "So that's what it was! It did taste a little gamey for a plant…"
Kagome sweat-dropped as she held Seraphimon's Egg in her lap firmly. 'To my knowledge, you're not supposed to eat anything 'glowy' anyway!'
"You can have no Spirit!" Grumblemon managed to pull himself out of the wall, nose a little crumpled. "It mine, Mine, MINE!"
"Not today, Troll!" J.P retorted, whipping his D-Tector out. "It's my turn to play!" And with that, a light shout of his D-Tector and drew the figurine into it. "Let's do it," he said when he saw his symbol appear on the screen.
"Execute: Beast Spirit Evolution!" J.P shouted. A wild Fractal Code column laced with electricity shot up around him only to leave behind the Beast of Thunder. "MetalKabuterimon!"
A~Different~Frontier
MetalKabuterimon was a blue, black, and silver machine Digimon with yellow and some orange accents. His 'feet' resembled the mode of transport of a tank, he had two three-pronged blasters for hands, and a large long-cannon stood atop his head. From where his eyes were, you could see that they were a clear hunter-green.
A~Different~Frontier
"Oh my," Bokomon cried out, "It's the Legendary Beast Warrior of Thunder!"
"Molto bene…" Zoe breathed out in awe. "J.P turned into him?!"
Just then, MetalKabuterimon's body began crackling with electricity as he roared. "Bolo Thunder!" his hands rotated at high speeds as they generated two large balls of electricity that were connected by a thin spark between and it was shot straight into the ceiling of the cavern above Whamon. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only one MetalKabuterimon shot off as more and more of his Bolo Thunders were being blasted all over the cavern, causing those parts to cave in.
"Run for your lives!" Bokomon shouted as he herded Kumamon, who'd turned back to Tommy, Zoe, Kagome, and Neemon away from MetalKabuterimon.
"Be still now, Friend," Grumblemon stumbled backwards towards his largest Golemon.
"Friend?" the Beast of Thunder repeated. "You're no friend of mine! You don't even know the meaning of friendship!" it was then that the sparks that ran all over his body snapped off and disappeared as his eyes glowed. He bent over with his pronged hands on the ground, back straight so that the cannon on his head faced Grumblemon directly, and a small targeting panel opened up on his upper back between his shoulders. "Electron Cannon!"
A huge stream of electricity and energy was shot off at Grumblemon, destroying the Golemon behind him, and causing Grumblemon's Fractal Code to appear.
"MetalKabuterimon: Slide Evolution!" A Fractal Code column appeared around the Beast of Thunder before disappearing to reveal the Human Warrior of Thunder. "Beetlemon!"
"It's back to the egg for you, pal!" Beetlemon summoned his D-Tector. "Fractal Code: Digitize!" Grumblemon's Fractal Code and Spirit were scanned directly into Beetlemon's D-Tector while the remaining Digi-Egg left behind floated out through one of the many hole in the cavern ceiling that MetalKabuterimon had created.
"Hey, welcome back!" Zoe grinned at her screen with the pink kanji for 'Wind' on it when her Spirit was back inside her D-Tector. She glanced at Beetlemon and her smile slipped right off her face.
Beetlemon had reverted back to the teen in blue, who was now looking even more beat up than before and panting just as hard. "J.P, are you okay?" Zoe hurried to his side.
"I got your Spirit back, Z," J.P smiled weakly at the girl he had a crush on, "Just like I told you I would. At least I did something to make you smile again."
"That's really sweet of you, J.P," Zoe's eyes softened as she placed a quick peck on his cheek.
Now normally, this wouldn't do much for a teenage boy except cue blushing, hut you need to remember that this if J.P and he has a beyond mondo crush on Zoe. So as of right now, J.P was staring of dazedly into space with a hand on his cheek, his face flush bright-red.
'It looks like she's finally warming up to him…' Kagome smiled, 'It's about time.'
"RUN!" came a shout.
"Huh?" the small group turned to see Koji and Takuya running at them as fast as they could.
"DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME?! RUN!" Takuya yelled out in a near-hysterical tone as the ceiling of the cavern gained the pattern of overlapping Fractal Code strips. It wasn't long, though, before water had started to filter into the cavern.
The last thing the DigiDestined and their Digimon friends had seen was the water around them before their vision went dark.
A~Different~Frontier
"Uh, guys?" came Tommy's voice hesitantly.
"Ugh," Zoe groaned, "What happened? Where are we?"
"Wherever it is, it definitely smells!" J.P commented.
Suddenly, light shone into the faces as what seemed like a top lifted from over their heads. "What the—!" Koji yelped.
"Hey, it's Whamon!" Kagome smiled. '…and it looks like he ate us to save us…'
"I don't know how you saved us," Bokomon told the whale Digimon, "But thank you!"
"Yeah," Zoe nodded, "And welcome home, Whamon!"
"I should be the one thanking you!" the whale Digimon told them. "Without your help, I could've been stuck in that cave forever! But enough of that; hold on, everyone, we should be reaching the island very soon!"
"Island?" the group parroted before looking out into the distance, only to see a large landmass ahead of them.
'I wonder what we'll run into next…' Kagome thought with an amused smile.
Adieu,
TsukiyoTenshi
