A/N: Sorry about the long wait! Yes, we are still continuing the story. I do not believe we will stop working on this story until it is done, it might just take us awhile. School, sports, friends, and other things like that have a higher priority than fanfiction, but the story still means too much to us to abandon it. So, here you go! Chapter 10! Enjoy! :)
"Fancy meeting you here!" Klarion said with a sly smirk on his face.
"You!" Impulse charged at the Lord of Chaos. The witch-boy yawned as he opened a portal in front of him at the last second. The speedster ran through, and the portal reopened behind Klarion, where Impulse reappeared, running into a tree.
With a thud, Impulse was knocked out, falling to the ground beneath the tree. Little birds appeared to fly around his head as Klarion just shook his head at him.
"Well that was fast," Ember muttered.
"Sidekicks," Klarion trailed off with a faraway look in his face, "They just don't make them like they used to."
"Hey!" Beast Boy exclaimed defensively, "We're not sidekicks!"
The shape-shifter transformed into a kangaroo, aiming a hard kick at Klarion. The immortal simply put his hand in the air where a red sphere formed around him. Beast Boy bounced off the bright red shield and Ember gritted her teeth. The fight was on.
"Oh, they didn't last long– who are you, sweetheart?" Klarion queried with a half-smirk half-smile. It was something Elle had never seen before and she didn't know best how to describe it.
"Ember, the girl who's going to burn you," Ember swiftly replied, little balls of fire flickering in her hands.
"Ooh, a feisty one, I like you!" Klarion chuckled as his hands glowed red.
"You won't soon enough," Ember sharply replied back, "Now where's the part?"
"What part?"
"You know, the one you took from Star Labs."
"Oh, that one!" Klarion tapped his head in thought. "I can't recall where I put that one. Sorry Sweetums, not here."
"Sweetums?"
Before Klarion could reply, various animal noises including cat hisses and gorilla roars were heard nearby as Beast Boy and Klarion's cat stumbled onto the scene. The familiar was now in wild cat mode, and in its teeth was the scientific instrument. Despite the disadvantage, the cat still had its gruesome claws and was going toe-to-toe with Beast Boy. In the midst of this, Klarion got distracted by the commotion and let his shield down.
Ember instantly went on the offense and threw a burning ball of flames at the witch-boy.
"Argh!" Klarion grunted, looking in surprise at the girl. His normally mischievous smile was replaced by a pout. "Aw, our first fight and hasn't been an hour yet!"
Klarion immediately tried drenching the girl in red lasers. "Naughty, naughty!"
"Is he trying to flirt with you?!" Beast Boy asked in disgust as he dodged an attack from Teekl.
"I have no idea!" Ember took off flying to dodge lasers. In mid-air a laser grazed her shoulder and caused her to plummet towards the ground.
In a flurry of movement, Ember found herself in the arms of Impulse.
"The hero has saved the damsel in distress yet again!" Bart gave her a winning grin.
"Let go of me!" Ember scowled, her cheeks full of blush.
Impulse gracefully set her down.
"Hey, I made the first move! Back off!" Klarion claimed. A red laser aims towards them and the two disperse.
"Huh?" Bart cocked his head at him.
"He and Em are in love!" Beast Boy teased Elle, answering his friend's question.
"Shut up!" Ember cried out, dodging a laser and throwing a fireball at the villain.
"Believe me, sweets, I know true love at first sight." Klarion smirked.
"I've had enough of this. Impulse, cover me! I'm calling back up," Ember commanded as she took cover behind a boulder.
"Right on it!"
"Malcolm, this is Ember. We found the stolen instrument and Klarion along with it. Requesting back-up immediately,"
"On it." The comm. went silent again, most likely Mal contacting the others without distracting them.
The boulder Ember was behind disintegrated courtesy of Klarion.
"Now that that's out of our way," Klarion said. He ignored the continuous rain of fireballs flying at his see-through shield and Impulse running circles around him. He formed a ring using his mystical powers and stood on one knee. "Will you marry me?"
All fighting ceased as Teekl and Beast boy froze in mid-strike while Impulse and Ember stood looking at Klarion blankly. A pin could have been heard in the silence if it were dropped. Then a low chuckle started from Impulse until he slowly fell, rolling on the ground in loud laughter. The term "ROFLOL" was taken quite literally.
"What..?" Ember murmured in shock. "What?...What?"
"I said, my love, will you marry me?"
"Wha-NO WAY, creep!" Ember looked away, horrified.
Beast Boy took this chance to tease the ebony. "Klarion and Ember sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G-"
"Shut it!" A fireball was thrown in Gar's direction and the fighting resumed.
"A big mistake, my burning passion." Klarion's eyes turned bright red in anger. "Now I'm afraid I can't let you leave with that part you wanted. Such a shame too, it would have been your wedding gift."
"Never propose to a girl on first sight, especially if you're a creepy villain," Ember growled, taking a chance to throw a ring of fire at him. "You might not know what they're capable of."
The ring of fire tightened around Klarion and for a moment he looked paralyzed. He snapped his hand and the fire burst into fit of smoke.
"Nice try, dearie, but it takes more than that to stop a Lord of Chaos," he chimed in a descending tone.
Ember gave a huff in annoyance, running at him and planting a solid punch on Klarion's jaw. Klarion stumbled back in slight surprise, having not expected that. She aimed another punch, but before it could land the kid-like Lord of Chaos made a small shield where Ember's fist was. He pushed the shield towards her with enough force to send her tumbling back. Impulse, having stopped laughing only seconds ago, ran to his teammate's aid. Sounds of Beast Boy and Teekl fighting could again be heard in the background.
"Ember!" Impulse called out in worry. Upon arriving he placed a hand on her shoulder, getting a soft groan in response. Seeing that the girl wasn't mortally injured, he ran towards Klarion.
"Uh uh uh, not so fast!" Klarion sang, using his powers to telekinetically throw a tree in front of the speedster. Impulse got knocked down. "No pun intended," he added with a sly smirk. His whole persona gave off a full-of-himself attitude.
Klarion began walking towards Ember. While he was walking to the girl he came across Impulse, who was propping himself up on his elbows in attempt to get up. Klarion kicked the boy in the head.
"That's for trying to steal my girl." Klarion gave a smug grin as Bart passed out from head trauma yet again.
"Now," Klarion began, looming over Ember, who was fighting for consciousness, "Where were we?"
Mini cliffy ;3 So... much... crack... in this chappie... That's what happens when you choose to write late at night. Don't worry, being the clever peoples we are, it will aaallll make sense later xD
