Chapter 9: Rant, date and civil war
Thanks for the reviews so far!
Moonstone blaze: While you are right that Jiraiya is acting behind Hiruzen back, he has a reason to do it. As he and Danzo stated in chapter 7 they are afraid that he is influenced by Kakashi and if he is Hiruzen is most likely to tell Kakashi about who might take action. And looking at the canon it shows that Kakashi had trouble moving forward, which was seen then Minato talked to him, I have no trouble believing that he would avoid Sakumo for a long time.
flevantein: Thanks for the long review, I will try to answer as much I can without spoiling to much.
First, almost every country is at war with each other. And even if several villages join together, they won't send their best squadrons at the start, most likely they will test the 'water' and if the alliance work out they will provide more support such as the Han, Explosive Corp, 7 Swordsmen and so on.
Secondly, Kakashi and his team went behind the front lines into their territory and found the caravan that was heading to point B, where Chunins and Jōnins would take over. Should Iwa do the same/are doing, they would find the same thing.
Thirdly, how Kurama entered their world as a 'Summoning' will be explained in this chapter ^^
Yungsun, Prescripto13, Windninja1000, quiltedcat, Blackbird0: Thank all of you for you great support!
If there was a color that Kakashi hated it was white, after all it was the first sign that you were in the hospital. With a silent groan he slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position and went over his memories before he past out.
By having Kurama take over the Shadow clone he temporary created in another dimension, Kakashi could send out a signal that Kurama could feel, reacted to it and 'allowed' himself to be summoned by the fake summoning scroll.
Kurama had been ecstatic to finally be able to properly walk again and had taken full advantage of the situation, the poor enemies had been crushed withing seconds leaving just a handful survivors who would bring back the news of Konoha now also having the strongest Biju.
While the Konoha troops had in triumph and to be alive, they had missed when Kakashi had started the reversal seal by putting his right hand on the scroll once again. And by focusing the remaining chakra left by Kurama inside of him, used his Kamui ability to send what remained of his ally back to other dimension that being said, the pain when the demon entered him again was so painful that he immediately fainted.
His heavy bandaged arm and the pain from it was the thing that convinced him that he had actually manage to summon Kurama and after had touched it he chuckled inwardly.
'My first and hopefully last reckless plan. I hope you are proud Naruto, I'm starting to take after you'
"Hokage-sama, we aren't sure he is awake yet! Please, I will notify you immediately when he wakes up!" a male doctor urge from outside Kakashis small room and for a moment he played with the idea of ignoring the cries outside, but knowing that Hiruzen will be even more irritated next time they meet is not worth it. So with a small chakra burst he allowed the pissed Hokage to enter and close the door in the doctors face.
"Why did..." the Hokage was about to start his lecture but stopped to force himself to calm down first and apply a silence seal in the room. "Why didn't you tell me that you could summon Kyuubi?! Do you have any ideas how much this change the war and how many places I could have sent you to where you could have made a larger effect?!" Hiruzen hissed at man in bed, angry beyond reason and for good reasons too.
Intel was now certain that the collaboration of Iwa, Sand and Ame had completed their alliance, even worse was the rumor about them asking Kumo to join. If they did, Konoha was royally screwed. The only chance for them now was to gain a ally themselves, and their options were not many. Only Mist and Kumo were left of the major villages, and Mist hated them after a majority of the Clans left their village which only left Kumo.
And even if they were incredible proud of their skills, border of arrogance, even they were wary of Konohas growing strength.
"Blast it, Kakashi! For once I wished that you young people would actually stop and think about consequences..."
'He is starting a hour long rant, you know?'
'How do you know that?'
'I have seen situations like this more dare to remember, remember who my former host was'
'Riiiight, Naruto. Got it.' Kakashi once again paid attention to Hiruzen rant, now pacing around his room with his arms making all kind of gestures, and immediately turned back to the demon inside of him. 'So, how was it to be out once again? And have you heard anything what happened after?'
'I felt that the my siblings were around the same countries they were in our earlier world and while not in the same hosts, I know where they are' the demon replied lazily, but Kakashi could hear trace of concern in Kuramas voice. 'I also sensed myself, and wouldn't be surprised if my other self also sensed me'
At first Kakashi was unsure what he meant, but he soon realized what Kurama meant. 'Kushina. Crap'
'Indeed, brat. If you thought Naruto was bad, just imagine his mother before she settled down with the brat Minato. I lost count after she turned fifteen on how many times she had spent in the Hokages office for disrupting one thing after another'
'I only remember her hot temper and occasionally some kind of prank when she was really bored. But worse then Naruto, really?'
'Ignorant brat, she was like a demon released on earth once she started. I only liked her during those times. Oh and we have another problem'
'Sigh, now what?'
'She felt me idiot, she felt my chakra and will find you preeeety soon. And you know how she got her answers for things right'
Kakashis mind went black in fear as he recalled everything that Kushina could do against him to spill his secrets.
'Oh, look. Looks like the old geezer is done with his rant now' the demon actually sounded amazed and amused that the rant was so short.
And true to his word Hiruzen was done with his rant and even if he was somewhat red in the face his stare still brought chills on Kakashi.
"...Did you even listen to me?"
Kakashi wisely decided not to reply, or the Hokage would enter another long rant about something.
"Anyway, should we perhaps seek audience with Kumo soon or what are your plans?" he instead decided to ask.
"That is something we will deal with later" Hiruzen sighed and sat down in a chair close to the bed, tiredly massaging his temples in a slowly manner. "We have something bigger to deal with, something I hope you have some 'information' about"
Kakashi nodded slowly, his mind already going over what could be more important then securing a potential ally or risking another frontier but couldn't find anything.
"Our daimyo has declared a civil war, apparently the news of higher taxes on the farmers finally was enough for them to rebel" Hiruzen sighed again. "Apparently there is also a noble from the northern parts who is leading them, making this far more serious then a farmer rebellion would be"
Kakashi stared at the Hokage in surprise, the daimyo had somehow created a rebellion during a war time already? Slowly however he started to remember how things had happen in his time.
"Wait, is Matsudaira Hirotada still our current daimyo?"
"Indeed" Hiruzen didn't bother asking why he asked such question as he saw the expression on the younger ninjas face.
"Then he will die either during this civil war or in perhaps two years" Kakashi muttered somewhat aloud as he stroke his chin deep in thought.
Hiruzen however shot up from the his chair, in such a speed that the chair flew backwards and hit the floor.
"Dies?! How?" he was already halfway back to the door to order his best ninjas to guard the daimyo before Kakashis voice stopped him.
"He will be succeeded by Tokugawa Ieyasu and while uniting the land after several years, he have a weak will and is easily influenced by intimidating people." Kakashi said stroking his chin in thought. "If I remember correctly the rebel noble is Date Masamune a man while somewhat arrogant and have little thoughts of rational thinking, he is the kind of man who protect the people under him. Hence the reason to why he joined the rebellion as the daimyo put the highest taxes on his territory"
"You are suggesting that I will assassinate our daimyo?! The same man I have saved countless times during the second ninja war? A man who have supported my ideal for the last ten years?" Hiruzen growled at Kakashi, while ninjas have little honor in their work Hiruzen still pride himself for honoring his long friendship with the daimyo.
"I'm not suggesting anything, Hokage-sama. I'm stating the facts that the current daimyo will die within the coming years and then we will hit a rocky part for a village, at best. Why don't we at least meet this Masa..."
Kakashi was abruptly stopped when he was slammed against the wall, Hiruzens right hand firmly on his throat.
"Stop this now" Hiruzens voice was cold and hard, much harder then he used after Minato had died and he had retaken his seat as the Hokage. "We will not support a rebel as long as the daimyo lives and even when he is dead I will make the oath to his successor. This matter is closed Kakashi. Do you understand?"
'Hoh? Looks like the gezzer actually have some backbone this time around' Kurama said curiously with a grin.
Despite having trouble breathing by now, Kakashi nodded slowly and replied in a monotone voice. "Of course, Hokage-sama. We never talked about this"
"Good" Hiruzen let go of Kakashi, who slumped back on his bed and started massaging his neck and while walking towards the door he spoke again. "You are removed from active combat until you can properly use your right arm again"
Kakashi nodded slowly behind him while trying to stretch his damage arm and cringed in pain for the attempt. "Might take a while though, hurts just move it" he mumbled.
Glancing over his shoulder Hiruzen sighed silently.
"Let's see at the end of the week how you are feeling" and with those words the Hokage left Kakashi alone in his room once again. What he did miss however was the determined face on the ninja.
'I know this look, Naruto had the same when he decided on something big and would never back down' the Kyuubi grinned pleased with something about to happen soon.
'Indeed, there is now way that I will break my promise to Naruto just because Hiruzens pride doesn't allow him to think ahead' Kakashi replied in his mind, the question however was how he would get in contact with Masamune.
It took two days before he was released from the hospital and he was immediately missing the empty room as people rushed at him the moment he stepped outside the building, dressed in a simple gray kimono with his familiar dark blue face mask and his right arm in a sling inside of his clothes.
'Huh, what do you know' he thought wearily as Okachi first awkwardly tried to man hug and then instead settled for pats on his back, while Hizashi simply nodded with a smile. Behind them he noticed that many looked at him, despite their best attempts to hide it, with hesitation and something close to fear.
'No surprise really though' Kakashi thought grimly, he had after all 'summoned' the same demon that Uchiha Madara used against the First Hokage years back. 'Well, at least Kushina isn't here for the moment I'm glad'
He was brought out his thinking when Okachi spoke again with a big smile. "To celebrated your release from the hospital, we are hitting the bar tonight!"
"Yes, that sounds like a good idea" a female voice suddenly spoke in a clear voice, Kakashi noticed that while Ashi still moved her hips more then usual she seemed more...aggressive now.
'Seems like I made a impression on her' he thought dryly and was suddenly glad that he hadn't spotted Mikoto yet. 'Speaking of her, I wonder where she might be'
And with those thoughts in his mind he allowed himself to be dragged away towards the closest bars with his mind firm on the idea to stay away from Ashi as much as possible.
It was not until later that night when Kakashi finally was able to speak alone with Mikoto after having spent the whole day catching up with those he had thought with at the last battle and while pleased to finally spend some time with her he also dreaded the coming conversation.
"So, the Kyuubi?" she said as Kakashi sat down beside her on bench, glancing at the small river that ran through the village.
"Yup"
Silence reign for a time as they both looked at the river and listen to the crickets that was starting to become active during nighttime.
"You are not going to do this easily for me are you?" Mikoto asked as she turned towards him with a tired smile.
"Do you want me to?" Kakashi replied teasingly, putting a arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer. She sighed in content and leaned her head on his shoulder before replying.
"This time I would like to. I have been in clan meetings since morning and all of them were about you mister" like a cat she stretch her legs to ease her sore legs. "The elders of the clan are now growing so desperate for you power that they are resorting that I will seduce you, so you will marry me"
If Kakashi would have something liquid in his mouth he would have either choke himself or spitted it out in a comical way, now however he settled for only gaping at her. Mikoto however continued before he could say something.
"My father quickly however stopped that by...drastic means" here Mikoto actually chuckled at the memory. "But if we are going to continue...dating I need to know that I can trust you and that the Kyuubi is not controlling you"
'Hey! It's not like I want to be inside of this brat!'
"I can't tell you all of my secrets for the moment unfortunately" Kakashi replied with a sigh and while he would love to another person about the future he knew deep inside that he should be cautious about the Uchiha clan. "But I can show you how I got in contact with him"
Mikoto eagerly turned her head towards Kakashi face and saw him open his left eye.
"I have heard rumors that a Sharingan can control the Kyuubi but so far only Madara have been able to that" she murmured and was about to continue when she notice that the eye was starting to change into a twisted fuma shuriken.
"Mangekyou Sharingan...b...but how?" she asked in awe. The advance form of Sharingan was not something that had been seen since Madara had been killed by the first Hokage and yet a non-Uchiha was showing it.
"Long story short...I gained it when I killed my last teammate" from the aghast face Mikoto was giving him he new she had misunderstand. "She had been made into a living bomb by our enemies and during a attack she threw herself in the way and was hit in the heart by my Raikiri. She died instantly" while Kakashi have finally left his depression behind it was still a sore memory.
"Oh...I'm sorry for you loss" Mikoto said in a hurry when she noticed his depressed face. 'So you can get the advance Sharingan that way? By killing your best friend?' she shook her head in disgust, to gain a more powerful Sharingan that way was not acceptable for her.
"It's okay. I...I have had time to get over it" Kakashi sighed looked up at the sky watching the stars becoming clear. "My Mangekyou Sharingan allows me to use the Kamui, the attack you asked me before to teach you"
"Aa, that explains that I guess" Mikoto replied slowly and also turned her attention to the sky. "You should realize that the elders now really would try and get a hold of you, maybe even force you into the clan"
"To bad then I'm not into getting fame or power" Kakashi replied with tired smile, he had never been much for fame and would never be. "Also counting on the fact that you don't tell on me" he continued and smiled at her, what she didn't know was that this was a test from him. A veteran from two wars, god knows how many years in Anbu had learned him how to read a humans body language by a few seconds.
If Mikoto showed even the slightest amount of considering telling her clan, he would throw his strongest genjutsu to knock her out and take her to the Hokage and their relationship would end there. If she didn't however...well, then he would certainly have somebody he knew to cover his back when he told her he was from the future.
Mikoto slumped forward, allowing her long hair to cover her head as her mind works overtime with the new information she have been given. This clearly was something that the elders needed to know about, after all somebody outside the clan had the legendary eye!
And yet he had never done something that could endanger their village or harm her allies, even the clan so far seems safe as he had made no claim or threat (other then defeating Fugaku). Slowly she looked up towards the sky again and with a small smile she nodded.
"Promise me though that your secrets isn't of danger to Konoha and I will help you"
"I can promise you that"
"Good, then I won't tell the elders" she replied and once again placed her head on his shoulder and together they enjoyed the rest of the night, first time in a long time as a couple.
It was only a few days later after his meeting with Mikoto when Kakashi had another heart to heart conversation, a talk he would have much rather have later. Or not at all.
"Do you have some time?" the serious face on his father had told him that a negative response was not acceptable. And with a nod fell in beside him and allowed his father to take them wherever he had in mind for this conversation.
After a very awkward walk for almost half a hour they finally found themselves at a empty training ground. Sakumo immediately headed towards the center of the field and with expertise opened a scroll and activated it with blood from his left thumb before placing it on the ground.
With mild fascination Kakashi watched as black ink left the scroll and created a ten meters large circle where no sound would leave, and with no hesitation Kakashi walked forwards and joined his father in the middle of the circle.
"I'm the kind of a man who doesn't walk around the bush" Sakumo started with a hard voice. "Why do you have the same chakra signature as my son Kakashi?"
'Huh?' Kakashis mind went completely blank once his brain understood the question.
"While my son doesn't have enough chakra yet for many people to feel the similarities. I'm his father and live with him. I know his chakra better then himself which means" Sakumo continued and started to walk towards Kakashi with a expression that would scare the shit out even the most seasoned ninjas.
Sakumo stopped close enough for Kakashi to feel his breath against his mask, which meant they were about the same height. "So now I want answers or nobody will ever find you again. Even if the Uchiha tries with their Sharingan at the best capacity, they won't be successful"
If Kakashi hadn't stared at the Juubi and fought against Kaguya he would most likely been shaking all over from the blood lust that his father was channeling.
'And how do I calm him down?' Kakashi mentally thought to himself before he came up with a idea.
"I might have a way to solve this...problem" he said and slowly took a step backwards, and while it looked somewhat suspicious to Sakumo he was willing to allow, for the moment. Deciding to cut the chase short Kakashi removed his face mask with his left hand while his right kept close to his kunai holder in case something went terribly wrong.
"..." Sakumo stared at his future child face, because this Kakashi looked like how he somewhat expected his son to look like when he was older, and even if there was Fūinjutsu that affected the face that didn't explain his chakra at all. "You have my full attention"
Now finally having somewhat control over the situation Kakashi was decided either to tell the complete story or a make up, but with the chance to have his father as an ally he went for truth.
"It all started..."
- Northern parts of Land of Fire -
Being a rebel is never easy no matter if you are a peasant or a noble, something that Date Masamune learned to late and was for once actually cursing at his impatience. From his room at the top of the castle he looked down on the camp in front of him, he could almost smell the fear from his troops. Not even a week had past before he had declared himself a challenger to the Daimyo, who had not react kindly to it and quickly sent an army ten times larger then his. Worse was that some had already deserted the his army, leaving it even weaker then before.
"Only a miracle can save us now, eh Kojuro?" he shifted his attention towards his most loyal retainer and friend with his lone left eye.
Unlike himself however Kojuro had his brown hair in a short ponytail instead of Masamunes wild hair style, two green eyes instead of his single blue and a small scar near his left mouth..
"Unfortunately yes, Masamune-sama" Kojuro said with a grimace, forcing the words to leave his mouth. "We made our move to soon with to little feedback on how other nobles would react"
Despite the situation they were facing Masamune chuckled lightly, trust Kojuro to somehow try to lessen his burden by taking some of it himself. "So let's make the coming battle something they will remember for generations!"
It was at that moment they both noticed another person joining them, a man who was dressed completely black with a scar over his right eye and dark red left eye with three tomes.
Masamune and Kojuro reacted fast, for non ninjas, and had their swords out in seconds stopping only as the stranger held up his hands in show of peace.
"Seems like you are in tough spot, perhaps I can be of assistance then?"
And cut! Wow...this chapter took way longer to complete then I had originally planned, and this story have actually been placed in a community! YEAY!
I actually never believed that I would continue a story, which seems somewhat popular (?), for over a whole year and still have so many readers. Thanks all of you for your continuing support!
On a different topic however I'm planing on starting a side project, please vote on the poll on my profile.
If you readers have any ideas or something I should improve, don't hesitate to write it in the review or send a PM.
Until next time!
