This is an Older Naruto fic. It is not a crossover, but some aspects of Mortal Kombat and Daredevil are involved. The prologue should give you an idea as to why

Chapter 9

Naruto stood in front of the Hokage. An ANBU member had approached him as soon as he left Training Ground 44, advising him that he had been summoned. Now he stood waiting to hear what this 'old fool' had to say.

"I'm glad the mission was a success." The Hokage stated, before lighting his pipe.

"So it seems." Naruto responded. "I can sense the Perv in town, when did he arrive?" Naruto asked, much to the slight widening of the Hokage's eyes. "Or did you not know?" Naruto continued.

"It seems he must've arrived today." The Hokage stated, trying to play it off cool. "Now… do you believe that you are Chunin material?" The Hokage asked, hiding a smirk.

Naruto turned and walked out of the Hokage's tower. He made a beeline straight for his Sensei's location.

"Good work on making it to the final round." Danzo stated to his Genin team. "However, your main objective was to find and eliminate the Ichibi Jinchuriki." He continued, looking at his subordinates. "Is that a failure on your end?" He asked, before taking a sip of tea.

"They had already made it to the tower by the time we could track them down." Kira stated, jaw clenched tight in anger.

"Hmmm." Danzo responded. "So Orochimaru made an appearance?" He asked, ignoring the response from Kira.

"Yes. He wanted me for some reason." Sasuke stated. He too knew how big a failure not killing the Jinchuriki was.

"Interesting." Danzo continued, appearing to be deep in thought.

"Your assignments over the next month is simple." Danzo stated before taking a sip of his tea once more. "You are to keep a close eye on the Trio from Suna and ensure they do not do anything against Konoha." Danzo said looking at Sai. The three team members where looking at Danzo now, knowing that he would use his eye to indicate who he was referring to. "You are to be trained by Hatake Kakashi and learn his infamous Jutsu. This is to add to your arsenal." Danzo intoned, looking at Sasuke. "You will train under Jiraiya and obtain the Toads Summon Contract." Danzo stated looking at Kira. "Try not to disappoint this time." He intoned, bringing a close to his instructions.

"Hai Danzo-Sama." The three responded before disappearing.

"It's up to you now Hiruzen." Danzo stated to himself.

"Aah Kakashi, please come in." Hiruzen stated, looking at the unmasked, ANBU operative. Kakashi stood in front of his fearless leader.

"I have an important mission for you." The Hokage stated. "It's pretty simple and will last a month." Here Kakashi looked on in thought. There was only one thing that he would like to do and that was to train someone special.

"Hai Hokage-Sama." Kakashi stated.

"I know that you paid attention to the fights at the preliminary. I want you to train Uchiha Sasuke to be on par with the speed of Lee. I want him to be fast enough to kill his opponent." The Hokage stated, waiting for Kakashi to speak.

"I'm not training the spoilt brat." Kakashi stated, no hint of anger in his voice. "I thought you might've wanted me to train Kira. She is the only one I would…" The Hokage cut him off.

"No. Your mission is to train Sasuke. You are also to teach him one technique, your highly prized Assassination Jutsu." The Hokage continued.

Here Kakashi was about to leave before the Hokage through a scroll at him.

"You can't be serious?" Kakashi asked, after reading the scrolls content.

"Dead serious. We have Intel that war will come to Konoha during the last phase of the Chunin exams. Sasuke's opponent is a Jinchuriki and will play a large role in the upcoming war. Team Danzo failed their mission to kill him during the second phase of the exam." The Hokage exclaimed, much to the concern of Kakashi. "Now Sasuke has a second chance to end his life."

Kakashi looked at the report once more before walking towards the exit.

"Kakashi." The Hokage called out. "This is an S-rank Mission. What you heard is not to be shared with anyone on penalty of death." He finished, watching Kakashi leave through the door.

"You have no choice Kakashi." The Hokage said to himself.

"HEY A PERVERT." Naruto shouted at the top of his lungs. He stood in front of the bathhouse where he noticed Jiraiya to be. At that moment, the Kunoichi in the bathhouse came out dressed in nothing but towels. They each took their turn in beating the life out of Jiraiya. Meanwhile, Naruto was laughing his ass off.

The beating complete, the Kunoichi turned to Naruto next, only to see the headband covering his eyes. With no other thought in mind, the Kunoichi left the self-proclaimed Super Perv grovelling in the dirt.

"How cruel." Jiraiya stated before standing, all wounds magically disappearing. He looked at Naruto and saw the smile disappear from his face. Jiraiya knew what was coming.

"Follow me Gaki." He stated, leading Naruto to a Shinobi only bar. Jiraiya wasn't looking forward to this conversation.

Jiraiya sat at a bench at the rear of the bar. Naruto sat across from him. Jiraiya ordered eight sake bottles. To Jiraiya's surprise, Naruto took a bottle, poured its contents and downed it without a second thought. This surprised him, as Naruto wasn't much of a drinker, and he could see the lack of emotions playing across Naruto's face.

"So… My sister." Naruto stated, pouring another shot, before downing it.

"Mission is a Mission. And mine was to raise and look after you." Jiraiya stated, downing his cup. "I found out at a later date. Not even I was privy to her existence from the beginning." Jiraiya continued.

Jiraiya knew that Naruto could tell when someone was lying, so he always told the truth. At that moment, Kakashi walked in and took a seat next to Jiraiya and Naruto. He could sense the tension, but decided he needed a drink.

Ordering his own sake bottles, he poured one and took a swig. He took another after that. He wasn't dressed in ANBU gear, so it was easier for him to drink.

"Good to see you again Jiraiya." Kakashi stated before taking another swig.

"Likewise Kakashi." Jiraiya responded, taking a swig. It was silent as the three of them took drink after drink, neither backing down.

"Do you know how rough she had it?" Naruto asked, looking directly at Jiraiya. "Maybe Kakashi-Ni could fill you in." Naruto continued, looking at Kakashi this time, before taking another drink.

Kakashi thought for a second before looking at Jiraiya. "It wasn't' pretty, and I didn't find out who she was till later on. I was assigned to care for her at one point. Till Danzo became her mentor and Sensei." Kakashi dropped his voice at the end. Obviously disagreeing with that last statement altogether.

Jiraiya was silent for a second, before looking at Naruto. "I didn't tell you because you weren't ready. Nor were you strong enough." Here Jiraiya took a swig, continuing before Naruto could speak. "Your first reaction would have been to rush back to Konoha and care for her. Yet even your strength wouldn't be enough to keep the rest of Konoha off your back." Jiraiya looked around before whispering. "Sensei would not take too kindly to Kira being cared for by the likes of you. Do you think he knew that she was your sister?" He asked, causing a look of concern to pass across Naruto's features.

"So he planned it this way? Why?" Naruto asked, taking another swig of the sake. They had finished half the bottles on the table, neither of them appearing slightly intoxicated.

"Good question. The answer, it seems, we aren't privy to." Jiraiya responded, looking at Kakashi.

"I've no clue." Kakashi replied. "But I don't like the game they're playing." He continued.

"Who?" Naruto asked.

"The Hokage, Danzo, and the other two elders. It seems they are hiding something." Kakashi stated, keeping his voice low. At that moment, Anko, Ibiki, Kotetsu and Izumo walked through the door.

"Hey brat, you old enough to be in here?" Anko asked, standing directly behind Naruto.

"The way you act; I'm surprised you're allowed in here." Naruto replied coolly. He smirked when he saw her face change. Izumo and Kotetsu laughed, whilst looking to join them at their table.

"So can we join you?" Izumo asked after the pleasantries. Anko walked away at this time to get her bottles of sake. Jiraiya motioned for them to sit, and the pair pulled a table to connect it to the one Naruto, Kakashi and Jiraiya were seated. Ibiki soon followed and took a seat.

"I've been meaning to ask, how strong are you?" Ibiki asked, looking at Naruto. "We both know you shouldn't have been in that exam." He continued.

"A Mission is a Mission." Naruto replied, sprouting the same words he had just heard.

"Jiraiya-Sama. You just returned?" Ibiki asked, looking at the Sanin. Anko arrived back at the tables to find no seats available. A smirk on her face, she walked up to Naruto and sat on his lap. This stunned Naruto, and when the others saw the blush on his face, they burst into laughter. All other matters disappearing from their thoughts.

"Wh-what are you doing?" Naruto asked in slight discomfort.

"Just making myself comfortable." Anko replied. She knew that she won this round, and the look on his face said it all. "What's a matter Naruto-Sama, is this not good?" She continued teasing, leaning close and whispering in his ears. Naruto had a full blown blush on his face.

Seeing that she had him good, she got up and searched for her own chair. Kakashi and Jiraiya were both laughing their asses off at Naruto. Jiraiya keeping what had happened in his mind for later. A new publication in the mix.

Naruto got up from his seat, pulled the chair that Anko was holding, placed it next to his, and stood waiting expectantly. Anko took the cue and sat herself in it. Naruto pushed the chair in at that point. "Now that is how a lady is supposed to act." He stated, much to the laughter of those around the table. Anko's smirk was still evident, but Naruto could sense the change in her.

"Not a Kunoichi." She chimed, taking a swig of her sake.

"So what brings you all here?" Kakashi asked, looking at Ibiki. He wanted to continue his discussion with Naruto and Jiraiya, but decided they may have to catch up later.

"Just wanted to get out of the office. It is such a torture in there." Ibiki stated. The others giggled, noting how dry the pun was. "What about you?" Ibiki intoned, ignoring the giggles.

"Just catching up. Talking about our favourite team." Kakashi stated. At the statement, the mood went from jovial to serious.

"It's not right. Kakashi should have been their Sensei." Izumo exclaimed. "He is the last person who possesses the Sharingan, and, well you know." He continued, lowering his voice at the end.

"Hokage-Sama knows what he's doing." Kakashi intoned. He wanted to tell them of his recent mission, but decided against it. He liked Ibiki, Kotetsu, Izuma and Anko, but he just didn't trust them with his real thoughts. That he left for Naruto, and to an extent, Jiraiya. "Guess it's time for me to retire. Got a long mission tomorrow." He continued, standing and taking his remaining sake bottle with him. "See you at home." He stated to Naruto.

"Time for some research." Jiraiya also intoned, making his way to the red light district. Ibiki left after Jiraiya, wanting to head back to base and see how the recruits were doing.

Izumo and Kotetsu finished their sake and wanted to get something to eat. They invited Naruto and Anko, but neither responded to the questions. They were both facing each other, taking shot after shot of sake. It was a competition.

"What did Kakashi mean he'll see you at home?" Anko slurred, before taking another shot.

"Got no place to stay, living with him for now." Naruto responded in kind, finishing his shot.

"I've got a spare room. Knowing Kakashi, he only has a spare couch." Anko stated before downing another shot. Naruto smirked at this.

"Careful, anyone would think you're coming on to me." Naruto laughed. He was feeling the alcohol now, but it was only when he continued drinking, shot after shot that he started feeling the buzz. It's like a poison to his system, his regenerative abilities heal him quicker than most. He had hangovers in the past, but by mid-morn he would be okay.

"What if I am?" Anko asked, downing another drink. "You are a catch." She exclaimed with a sultry look.

Anko awoke the next morning with a killer hangover. She recalled the last memory of the night, and felt the bed next to her. It was empty. A huge sigh of relief left her being. She inhaled and smelled coffee brewing in the pot. "Oh no." She said to herself before getting out of bed. She realised that she was in her normal sleeping attire.

Walking out of her room, she saw Naruto standing over the kitchen, cooking a continental breakfast. Her stomach started rumbling as she approached the chef. He was still dressed as he always was, thankfully.

"Good morning Anko." Naruto stated, before looking directly at her. It creeped her out a little, but she was too hungover to really care.

"What are you doing here? Was last night so much fun, that you decided to thank me with breakfast?" Anko asked, before taking a seat at her table.

"Hahaha." Naruto laughed, getting back to the cooking. After finishing, he set the meal in two dishes and placed them at the table. "You don't remember last night?" He asked. Looking at Anko once more.

"Hmph. Look what I said about staying here…"

"It's okay, I understand. You were intoxicated and having a go at me." Naruto stated before digging in. Anko joined him and found that the dish was to her liking.

"We didn't do anything last night." Naruto stated. His tone was serious and Anko could see the slight hurt he seemed to possess. "I'm not one to take advantage of someone under the influence." He continued, taking a sip of his tea. He had made coffee for Anko, but tea was his favourite beverage.

"Such a noble gesture for a Shinobi." Anko smirked, looking at Naruto. He smiled at that, taking note of the way Anko spoke. "Normally a guy would be gone before now." She stated to herself.

Her head was slightly better, and she didn't feel like having this conversation. "I'm heading back to bed, the door's there." Anko concluded, before disappearing into her room. "Thanks for the meal." She had whispered. Naruto heard her words and smiled.

Cleaning up after himself, he left Anko's apartment. "That was awkward." He stated to himself, before disappearing with the breeze.
