Ami and the others had showed Usagi such kindness.
She had never felt so good being around them.
They had melted her hard heart. Ami taught her that
all the bad negative thoughts and emotions had to
come out and that she shouldn't force them out.
Usagi returned to Mamoru's apartment. She told him
that she had a good time. And that no one had showed
her such kindness. Then at Mamoru's apartment she
cried letting all the build up emotions out in
a flood of tears. Mamoru told her that his apartment
was her special place of refuge where she can truly grieve
and let out all the bad emotions, that way, all those
bad memories of losing her family wouldn't hurt her anymore.
Usagi slept soundly that night. She didn't remember when
she slept so good. The next morning, she woke up and she
yawned great big. She got out of bed. Got a change of clothes
and took a shower and afterwards got dressed and went out
into the living room where Mamoru was. He saw her. He stood
up.
"Good morning Usagi."
Mamoru greeted her. There was a slight smile on her face.
It wasn't much. But, at least Usagi was trying. She finally
spoke up.
"Good morning Mamoru."
Usagi greeted him.
"I hope you slept good."
Mamoru told her.
"I slept really good, thank you for caring."
Usagi thanked him.
"Usagi, please sit here with me on the couch
for a moment. I want to ask you something."
Mamoru asked her.
"Okay, I don't have anything planned."
Usagi answered and sat on the couch next to Mamoru.
Mamoru spoke up.
"Usagi, I want you to know that I want to be your
friend and if you have any problem, you come
and talk to me okay? I will not judge you.
Usagi, I think you're a very pretty girl. I know
your life hasn't been easy. You're a girl begging
to be loved even if you don't show it. If you have
any problem, you can share it with me."
He told her.
"What do you like best about me?"
Usagi asked.
"Let's see. I love your hair. It's very beautiful.
I've never seen anything like it."
Mamoru replied.
"Do you have any nick names for my hair then? I want
you to call me by a nick name. That's what I hear
people say. It would make me happy if you called me
by a nick name."
Usagi answered. Mamoru thought for a moment and spoke.
"A nick name related to your hair?"
Mamoru thought. He looked at her hair. 'She wants a nick name
related to her hair. The only term that comes to mind is
Odango Atama. I don't want to anger her.' He thought. Then
he spoke to her.
"There's only one nick name I came up with is Odango Atama.
I don't want to anger you Usagi."
Mamoru replied. Usagi smiled.
"I love it, Odango Atama, please I want you to call me that.
I don't have a nick name for you."
Usagi smiled and spoke. Mamoru thought for a moment and spoke.
"You can call me Mamo-Chan. I am not good at nick names."
Mamoru replied.
"I see. Mamo-Chan. I like it. Mamo-Chan it is then."
Usagi replied.
"Odango Atama, I am touched you want a nick name, please know
this, I'll help you whenever possible. But, I want for
us call each other those names in private for now. Do you
understand? I want to help you as much as possible. If you
have problems, anything. Including regarding your physical
health, let me know. I want to be a great help to you. Understand?"
Mamoru told her.
"Yes, Mamo-Chan I understand. You have been so kind to me. May I
ask you something?"
Usagi asked.
"Sure. What is it?"
Mamoru replied.
"Are hugs good?"
Usagi asked in a curious tone.
"Are hugs good?"
Usagi asked.
"Hugs are very good. Why do you ask?"
Mamoru questioned her.
"Not too long ago, Ami hugged me and thanked me for working with
her. It felt so..."
Usagi answered only to trail off with the thought of the hug she
got from Ami.
"It felt very good didn't it?"
Mamoru questioned her.
"Yes, that's what I wanted to say."
Usagi answered.
"Did you ask about hugs, because you wanted one?"
Mamoru asked.
"Yes, that's what I meant. I want to experience love. I don't want to
be bitter anymore. I want to experience love and learn to be happy."
Usagi told him.
"I see. I can give you a hug, I doubt that will hurt at all. Okay,
stand with me please."
Mamoru told her. Usagi stood up. He spoke again.
"Hugs are good you see. I want you to be loved and to be happy. Is that
what you realy want? Hugs can melt the coldest heart, but the person
would want to be loved to have their heart melted do you understand?"
Mamoru explained.
"Yes, I understand."
"Good. Come a bit closer and I'll hug you."
Mamoru told her. usagi came close to him and he brought her in an embrace.
he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. She smiled and shed tears
at the same time.
"You're crying again. Are you okaay?"
Mamoru asked.
"Yes, I am fine. This is how it was when Ami hugged me, but your hug is
so gentle. It feels good to me. I am sorry I am crying."
Usagi apologized.
"Odango Atama it's okay and remember Hugs and tears are healthy for
you. You need someone to reach out to you. And you wanted me to
love you didn't you?"
Mamoru asked her.
"Yes. I trust you, I want to trust you."
She sniffled.
"Yes, you need to be loved. A person should be filled with love. it will
make them a better person. Do you know the power of friendship?"
Mamoru asked.
"Power of friendship? What's that?"
Usagi asked as she looked at him.
"Friendship is trusting each other and knowing that the other person
will always be for the other, I can teach you how to be a loving
person. A person needs someone to lean on. If you want to trust
me, then you must put all your fears aside. I won't hurt you.
You're very lovely girl. You need a good friend. I'll help you
okay?"
Mamoru replied. Usagi nodded her head.
"Yes, I understand Mamo-Chan. Love is so nice. I want to experience
more of it."
Usagi responded.
"I can help you melt the ice of your loneliness. Then you can make
more friends. Do you understand?"
Mamoru told her.
"Yes."
She answered.
"The best place to make friends is at school. Would you like to be
enrolled in a local school?"
Mamoru asked her.
"Yeah, sounds different. Okay."
She agreed.
"Good. Tomorrow, I'll enroll you in a local school. Okay?"
Mamoru asked. Her. She nodded her head again. And he embraced
her one more time. This time she smiled and didn't cry.
