A/N: Guys I am so sorry for not posting earlier. I know I haven't posted in like more than a year but school work really caught up to me and all. When you do the IB, it can get really really really stressful. And for those of you kinda scared that I stopped again, don't fret because Mama is here. I would have posted it earlier but I really got caught up in my schoolwork and all that so I was a little busy. Oh who am I kidding? I was a lot stressed but now the workload is lower so I can continue. Sorry for the wait and on with the story.
Kim's POV
Today is Sunday which is the day of the match. The most important match of my life and the life of the dojo. I smiled to myself as I reviewed the plan in my head. As I lay down to rest, I devised a plan to escape from the hospital and go and fight with the others at the match. I knew the doctors would not allow me to leave the hospital until I'm fully better.
But to be honest, I was feeling pretty fine today and I hardly felt any pain from my side apart from the occasional sharp pain from moving about too much. The hospital is so dull and quiet; all I hear are whispers from outside my door and sirens wailing as they approach the hospital. It almost feels like a ghost town. The only fun I was having was formulating my plan of leaving this wretched hospital. I know that Jack will be upset and the rest will think I'm crazy for leaving the hospital in the state I'm in but I'm still determined to go to that fight whether they like it or not.
"Maybe I shouldn't go to the match. Maybe I can't fight like this" I muttered as I ran a hand through my hair. "Oh gosh, what am I even thinking? I am so crazy right now" I continued.
I made my way to the steel gray door in front of me and quietly turned the handle. A small creak erupted from it, making me start abruptly. I looked outside, scoping the hallway for anyone passing. For the moment, it was completely void of any doctor, nurse or random person at all.
"The coast is clear" I said with a secret agenty air.
I gave a light laugh at my childishness and closed the door.
"Yep, you're definitely not crazy Kim" I said, rolling my eyes.
I slipped out of my hospital gown and wore the clothes I told Grace to bring when she came here to the hospital to visit. She opted for a black Nirvana tank top with grey acid washed ripped jeans with black combat boots. Trust Grace to bring anything so dressy for an escape mission.
"If only she knew that I was escaping out of the hospital out of these clothes, she'd have a fit" I laughed.
I shook out my hair, tying it into a braid so it wouldn't bother me when I'm outside. I opened the door and snuck out of the room. I made sure to place my pillow in my sheets to make it as if I was still there. I sneaked across the hallway and bumped into an elderly woman. I sucked in my breath and stood still. She gave me a weird look before shaking her head and trudging off to another corridor. I gave out a long sigh of relief and hurried towards the reception.
My eyes darted around to look for unexpected guests but to my luck, I didn't meet anyone else. I finally made to the reception to see the lady at the front desk passed out on a couple of files on the desk. She probably had a rough night dealing with a lot of cases through the night and the day as well.
I quickly swept through the doors of the hospital where I was greeted with immense sunshine. I immediately squinted my eyes a bit and looked around the parking lot. I spied a nearby skateboard which was black and red, near a tree close to the doors. Jumping onto the skateboard, I swiftly went out of the parking lot.
"So sorry. But this is important!" I yelled out as the owner of the skateboard came out of the hospital, flailing their arms in shock.
Skating through the streets and feeling the air blowing around me made me feel alive again. I was really worried about what Doctor Johnson said to me.
"Don't put too much pressure on your side" I repeated to myself. I shook my head as I realized I had been talking to myself too much today. I remembered that I left my phone at the dojo in my locker before I got shot. I headed to the mall and entered the dojo.
"Good thing Rudy left the spare key in the corner" I said aloud.
I clamped my hand over my mouth and stared around for anyone. I sighed and mentally scolded myself for all this sudden talking to myself. I walked through the dojo, memories of the other night flashing through my head. I stood in front of the trophy case we had by Rudy's office. I looked at the silver one that we won a few months ago after a match between the Wasabi Warriors and the Furious Fighters (A/N: GET THE REFERENCE). I stared at another one which we got from defeating the Black Dragons a year ago. That double sided roundhouse kick won us the tournament. I smiled to myself, as these new memories flooded my head. Then it hit me…hard. I knew just what I had to do.
Jack's POV
The match was currently going on at the Black Dragon's dojo and the place was seriously packed with a lot of people. Apparently, they said that they knew that they were going to win the match and wanted a lot of people witness our "humiliation". I smirked to myself at their cockiness and sighed.
The guys and I were getting ready for the upcoming match and preparing Milton for his fight as he was up first. My blood boiled with anger as I saw Dylan with the other Black Dragons. He looked my way and I glared at him. He just stared for a while and then turned back calmly as if he didn't try and murder Kim a few nights ago. He was lucky Kim decided not to call the police and charge him for attempted murder. I recalled him shooting Kim instead of me and I seethed even more.
I turned abruptly to Rudy who was getting him pumped up for the match he was going to have and giving him encouraging words. Milton was preparing for the board breaking match. He stepped out to the center of the dojo as the gong dinged to signal the start of the match. He was met by a beefy looking guy who wore a dark expression on his face. It was quite obvious who was going to win this match; not to be disrespectful to my team. But I think we all knew that Milton was just not going to win this one. We all knew as I looked at Rudy's face which had disbelief written all over it.
"ZEKE! ZEKE! ZEKE!" the Black Dragons chanted as they looked on from their corner.
The beefy looking guy whose name was Zeke walked up to the line of boards, stared silently into nothing for a few seconds before whipping his hand out and smashing 7 blocks instantly. I saw the color drain off Milton's face as he tried to stay calm. He went up to join Zeke who was gloating over his victory. Milton closed his eyes and struck his hand out quickly, hitting the blocks and breaking only 3 blocks. He smiled like he had just set a world record before flying into a fit and jumping around, shaking his hand out to and fro. They all chorused in a laugh together for like 5 minutes straight before breaking it up. Milton came over to us, with his head drooped down low.
"Don't feel bad buddy. It's not the end of the world" I said, with a cheerful grin on my face.
"Yeah, but maybe the end of our dojo"
"Don't think like that. You lost one match and that's it"
"Stop trying Jack. I lost and that's that" Milton mumbled.
"Well, there are other matches as well so we have to seriously kick butt right now" Jerry added.
"Yeah man" Eddie piped in.
"And we have to give it our all, especially since Kim isn't here with us" I said, almost whispering the last part.
"Don't worry guys. We'll make it and soon, I'll be able to go after more hot girls, especially Grace with the trophy we won. And maybe later, I can show Grace my bigger trophy" Jerry said with a wink.
"Too much information Jerry. Ugh, that is disgusting. Plus Grace will never see you as boyfriend material…EVER!" Milton exclaimed.
"Guys, remember we have to focus for the next match. And Jerry, that's gross by the way" I said, with an eyebrow cocked in his direction.
"Soon when Grace is my girlfriend, you'll all be sorry. Sorry!" Jerry emphasized.
"I don't think she's going to want you because…you're Jerry. You think you're a player and a ladies man but you've never had any girl take interest in you. Okay except Mika but that's it" Eddie said.
"You'll never know" Jerry said, in an ominous tone and squinted eyes.
I rolled my eyes at his behaviour.
"Do you honestly believe Grace likes you?" I genuinely wondered.
Jerry just gave a shrug to his shoulders with a smirk on his face and wandered off to practice for his match.
"We really need to step up this time" I murmured to myself, walking outside the Black Dragons dojo for some air.
[2 hours later] (A/N: Can you imagine this in that SpongeBob SquarePants guy who tells the time)
Jack's POV
Jerry and Eddie had already completed their fights. So far, as the score stood, Jerry won his nun chucks match with a Black Dragon's guy nicknamed Pringles (I think has an obsession with Pringles) who immediately burst out crying to losing to Jerry. Jerry after his fight, started smirking and as he came closer to me, my Latino best friend glanced at me.
"Mamacitas are coming home to Daddy" he smirked, doing the Running Man as he walked on by.
I shook my head, trying not to laugh at Jerry's attempt to look like a rapist.
Eddie, on the other hand, tied with his Black Dragon counterpart which was quite impressive since Eddie really stepped up his game and actually rivaled against a strong Black Dragon.
At the moment, I was preparing for the last match between my Black Dragons opponent who I assumed to be Frank. I kept on practicing in a closet, throwing imaginary punches at my opponent and doing an occasional round-house kick. I knew I would win the match if my opponent was Frank. But then again, they could have gotten better people to replace him. Then I got nervous. Kim always calmed me down for a fight. I knew I could beat the people but it was nice to see Kim care about me so much. I shook my head as if to shake the memory away and began to focus again on my fighting.
I came out of the closet when I heard the whistle blow for the match to begin and for the members of both groups to assemble. I stepped towards Rudy and the guys who began to smile at me, with Milton giving me a thumbs up.
"Good luck bro. I'm sure if Kim were here, she would have said the same thing. Plus, if you need help in smashing those guys up, I'm here" Jerry said with a smile.
"Thanks Jer. I love you Jerry but let's be honest, you are as useful in this match as the "p" in psycho" I joked, with a smirk.
His smile dropped a bit.
"But I'll still call you if I need help with anything" I said, trying to lessen the blow so his feelings were not hurt.
"Anyways, good luck Jack. I know you don't need it but trust me, some of them could-"
A loud bang disrupted Jerry's soon-to-be-speech behind us and we all turned to look for the cause of the noise. The doors flung open and practically the entire dojo turned around. When I looked at the door, my eyes bulged in shock at the person in front of the door.
The one person crazy enough to go cliché.
Kim.
