Hi guys, fellow readers, I am back! Phew.. What a tiring term it has been... It is now the second week into the second term, but guess what, no tests next week, so I guess I can afford to update the story. Looking forward to the reviews for this chapter.
" What happened. Ada? " asked Aragorn, trying to confirm what he was thinking was the truth.
Lord Elrond was too busy tending to Legolas's wound, hence he did not reply.
" Saruman entered your body, but we did not realise it in time. He attacked Eowyn before he harmed Legolas, " answered Gandalf while looking at Legolas.
" Bring him into the room, " ordered Lord Elrond. Elladan and Elrohir lifted Legolas's arms and placed them over their shoulders.
" One, two three! " shouted the brothers in unison, as they lifted Legolas from his sitting position. Legolas stood up and looked around at his surroundings. His glance met Aragorn's, but it didn't stay long, as the two brothers supported Legolas into a room.
" How is he, Ada? How is Legolas? It was all my fault, " questioned Aragorn worriedly. He did not see the light his elf friend would usually have in his eyes. Legolas's fair complexion was even paler and lighter than ever.
" Don't blame yourself, Estel. I need to lay him down on the bed first to better examine his wound. He is going to be fine, don't worry, Estel! " comforted Lord Elrond. Estel nodded, with tears welling up in his eyes.
Lord Elrond wanted as few people in the room as possible. King Theoden, Gandalf, his sons and Aragorn entered the room with Legolas. Eowyn and Gimli stayed outside, sorting out other things and preparing some food for everyone.
When Lord Elrond poured water over Legolas's wound to wash off the blood, Legolas winced in pain. He grabbed Aragorn's hand immediately. Aragorn tried to ease his pain and comforted him. It was his fault that Legolas was in such a state.
" The wound in very deep, he might have hurt his right lung, " announced Elrond. Elladan grabbed his father's medical bag quickly and passed it to his father.
" Legolas, try to breathe normally, take in breaths and breath out, do it slowly. If you can't breathe properly, don't be scared, " requested Elrond. Legolas hurriedly took a deep breath, but he ended up coughing badly. Elrohir calmed Legolas down and encouraged him to try it again. Lord Elrond monitored how Legolas breathed. Legolas took in another breath. He did not cough this time because he did it slowly, but more blood flowed out from his wound, and only one side of his chest rose a little. Lord Elrond confirmed his injury.
" Alright, good job. Just take in small breaths now and you will be fine, " assured Elrond. Turning to his sons, he pointed to the medicine used to drug patients and let them enter an unconscious state. Gandalf walked to Elrond's side.
" How is he? Is it serious? " Gandalf whispered.
" He hurt his right lung. He can't breathe using that lung. I need to stitch up his wound in his lung and on his skin, " replied Elrond, looking at Gandalf. Elladan and Elrohir drugged Legolas really quickly. Legolas did not resist for he was already semi-conscious. Elrond wasted little time in stitching up the inner stab wound first before stitching up the surface wound on Legolas's chest. Aragorn helped to support Legolas up as Gandalf removed the elf's tunic and placed a new tunic over his head.
All left the room except Lord Elrond and Aragorn. Lord Elrond could see the worried look on Aragron's face. He patted his back, assuring Aragorn that everything would be fine. What Lord Elrond was worried about besides Legolas's injury, was the fact that Saruman would most likely attack them at this vulnerable stage.
Saruman was of course prepared to launch an attack. Tens of thousands of army stood, prepared at Isrengard, ready to march to Helm's Deep.
" To war! " commanded Saruman. The army chanted in joy, and marched off to their destination.
" There will be no dawn for men! " said a determined Saruman as he stared at his powerful and invincible army.
" How is he now? " inquired Elladan. Lord Erlond and Aragorn remained at Legolas's bedside all the time.
" He should be fine for now. I sense the presence of an evil force coming forth! " announced the Lord. All knew who their father was referring to. The men at Helm's Deep were already armed as Gandalf and King Theoden ordered all abled men to get an amour and a sword.
" Should be inform King Thanduril? " asked Elrohir.
" Write to him now, inform him about th war and Legolas's condition. " replied Lord Elrond. He sincerely hoped that through this letter, the King of Mirkwood would bring an army and his healers. From there, they can further examine a way to totally destory Saruman.
Just then, the prince of mirkwood stirred.
" Legolas! " called out Aragorn, anxious about his friend.
Legolas's eyes fluttered open. He did not seem as weary or as badly injured, as they had thought.
" I am fine. Fret not! " assured Legolas though he was still a little pale.
" Can you breathe properly? " checked Lord Elrond. Though elves had an amazing healing ability and speed, it was necessary to ensure that they were really fully recovered, or at least 90% there.
" I think so, " answered Legolas truthfully. There was still a burden and a labour to breathe deeply, but shallow breaths was alright for him.
" Continue to rest, don't worry too much. I have sent for your father. " reported Lord Elrond. Legolas didn't seem to hear him, as his gaze was fixed on Aragorn.
" It was not your fault! " said Legolas with a reassuring smile, as he reached out to Aragorn.
" It was! If not for me, you would not have been hurt! " insisted Aragorn.
" It was Saruman who controlled you! " Legolas shouted back, but he over exerted himself. Lord Elrond patted Legolason his back, asking him to take deep breaths. It hurt Legolas, but he told himself to be strong.
" War is upon us, we have to go out and fight. Hopefully the King would aid us, " sighed Elladan.
" My father would. I have told him that if any word were to come from Lord Elrond or both of you, he would have to comply and not question, " joked Legolas, knowing how important he was in his father's heart. Legolas wasn't ashame to brag about it, in fact he was proud to have such a doting father who would always support him, especially his ties with the Rivendell family.
At that instant, Legolas attempted to get out of bed.
" Where are you going? " exclaimed Aragorn.
" To fight! " replied Legolas.
" No way! " screamed the others. Legolas ignored them and grabbed his bow as he headed out of the room. He looked down at his chest wound as it hurt for a moment, but the pain soon eased.
The army was approaching, fast. The rider sent by Lord Elrond was travelling as quick as lightning. The horse galloped as though there was an outburst of energy. The rider had to reach Mirkwood before nightfall. He changed some elvish spells, and the horse ran even faster.
Saruman surely would not give his enemy a good time. His plan had to succeed. It was either he makes it or he breaks it. There was no room for failure at this stage.
Lord Elrond had came up with another remedy while he was taking care of Legolas earlier. He forced Aragorn to drink the potion. It was meant to ward Saruman off with the elvish magical power, and hopefully prevent Saruman from staying too long in Aragorn's body. All of them were going to war too. They followed closely behind Legolas just in case the prince needed a rest or medical attention.
