Hey guys and gals! This is chapter will be team placements and where they'll head from there.
Quick question- Should I do SasuSaku as a pairing?
I'm leaning a bit towards SasuSaku because of their personality differences. But anyway you can tell me in the reviews!
With that said,onto the story!
(I also don't own Naruto or Raising Heart,)
'Thoughts' 'English' 'Inside voices'(Raising Heart, tailed beasts)
O.o.O
This really isn't working out.
Sakura sighed, shutting the door softly behind her. She exited the building quietly, silently walking to the academy for her team placements.
She had been staying in Naruto's apartment for around two days and knew that she had to go home eventually. The problem was that she didn't know how to approach her mother,if she did she'd be back home and greeted with a smile(sarcasm noted). Naruto's house was...(in the nicest way possible) a disaster zone. The amount of cleaning done just to see his wood flooring was insane. He had dishes piled high in his sink, ramen cups on top of the counter tops and utensils scattered across the ground. His clothing was dropped haphazardly along the floor trailing from his bedroom to the living area as if he didn't think anyone would stop by. The first night she stayed there she couldn't even sleep properly because of the mess, and she couldn't wake him up because he was unconscious.
Flashback
After Iruka had given her directions, she watched as he hobbled to the hospital, limping as he tried to quell the pain on his wound.
Sakura had offered to help but he waved her off, saying she should get some rest after the events that occured.
When Naruto had went unconscious she was about to drag him to the hospital until Iruka said he was just tired(she could have sworn he was laughing). Sakura had instead slung an arm around him and lifted him on her back. He wasn't that heavy,so it was a welcomed relief to her as her body was aching. She ignored it in favor of glancing down at the crudely drawn map hastily scrawled down in a hurry, courtesy of her Sensei.
When she reached the blonde's apartment, the sky had gotten darker.
It was littered with milky white stars, illuminating her home brightly. She stepped slowly up the stairs as exhaustion made her dizzy.
When she arrived, she was met with a problem. She jiggled the door knob, frustration forming on her features. 'It's locked. Damn.'
Sakura lowered Naruto to the ground, gently resting him against the plain colored walls. She was about look under the doormat before slapping herself at her stupidity. Her fingers dipped into her pouch,a single hand taking out a shiny object. A kunai.
Sakura smirked.'Oh how I've missed lock picking'. She wasn't a thief in her past life, she just liked the thrill of sneaking around and not getting caught by someone. She had a job actually,in a music store. An elderly man named Will had offered to let her play in his shop as a test after seeing one of her small street performances. Sometimes she'd play an instrument for the shop or just worked the register. He was a lax person who was hard-working and she accepted the job because of that.
She crouched bending on a knee. Sakura lodged the kunai through the knob, hearing the door rattle slightly.
A click sound was heard shortly after it was inserted. Sakura got up and opened the door, picking up Naruto off the ground. She arched a brow in confusion.'It's not opening fully?'
She pushed against the door harder, feeling it snap back as she stumbled to the ground. Naruto's body fell on her as she pushed him off, getting up. She cursed under her breath only know realizing the issue.
His place was a mess!
It was no wonder she couldn't get in...there was stuff blocking it!
She peered around the apartment warily before gagging in disgust. His apartment wasn't very big as it had plaster chipping off the walls,a small stove top,and a nice sized living area. That wasn't a big deal to her, what bothered her was the sheer amount of garbage laying around. His dishes looked to be like they haven't been washed in a while and the scrolls and books covering the ground as well as clothing made her want to leave quickly.
Her right eye twitched. 'He's going to be cleaning this in the morning, mark my words'
Sakura tried to jump over and around the clothing in an attempt to find his room. She made it to the door and twisted it. She gently put him down on his cleaner room, slipping off his orange jacket and blue sandals;leaving him in a black shirt and orange pants. A blanket was placed over him as she turned off the lights."Good night," Sakura whispered.
As she left his room, she felt a strange crawling sensation on her leg. When she looked down, she almost fainted. A large cockroach was going along her pale skin with beady black eyes staring back at her. She froze before shrieking loudly.
"Eww ew ew! Get it off!" If there was one thing she couldn't stand,it was insects.
Unknowingly, her magic responded to her. A small blue burst shot off her finger instantly. The roach froze then sparked, dissapearing in a split second in response to her feelings. She kept swatting at her leg hopping on a single foot.
'Disgusting!' She stopped seeing it was gone and most likely dead. She quickly went to the bathroom and washed up still panting, eyes dilated widely.
When she was finished, she walked over to Naruto's worn couch warily with a traumatized expression on her face that quickly turned to anger. Her blonde friend shouldn't be living like this! It was infested for Kami's sake!
She folded her legs, pulling them against her form. She didn't bother taking off her shoes, they were going to be fixing this nightmare in the morning. The whole night she didn't sleep with the sounds of scuttling filling her head. Sakura dozed off from time to time whilst tying to stay awake.
Morning came quicker than she expected and went to wake Naruto. He was already awake, looking at his calendar with squinted eyes. She crept up behind him reaching to tap his shoulder with her index finger.
His reaction made her lack of sleep worth it. Naruto jumped a few feet in the air turning to point at her. He staggered back."W-
She didn't question his freak-out her appearance. Her hair was matted and strands were falling out of her ponytail, outfit hanging of her instead of snugly against her. Dark rings were under her eyes, enhancing her bright turquoise eyes. In short, she looked like a mess.
"Naruto~" Her tone was sickly-sweet. His face paled in response to her voice. He started to back away with his hands raised in surrender while wondering what the hell he did. It didn't work as her footsteps got closer in return, not letting him escape."When was-" He tripped falling backward on to his bed with a yelp."-the last time you've bothered to clean this place~? Hmm~?"
His screams told her all she needed to know that day while she sipped tea, watching him clean with grumbles at her when she said he missed a spot.
Flashback end
Sakura only meant to help him too. His home was clearly crossing all sorts of hazard laws because of the amount of filth. Infestation, clutter, keeping things he didn't need, all of that was apart of the things she had to toss out(as well as his old super-deluxe ramen cup he had won as a kid and never threw out)She bought him cleaning supplies but had to return them when she saw them in his supply closet with packaging still on which told her he never cleaned his apartment not once.
Sakura's talk had gotten through however, when he paled seeing another roach going inside his pile of clothes on his ground. His home had smelled like chemicals and other lemony-fresh scents that still lingered. She didn't have time to re-paint his walls though, since they had I.D registration the next day in which he painted his face with white and red swirls.
Sakura laughed, remembering the Sandaime telling him to redo the photo and meeting his grandson. He had ended up following them once he realized that he didn't care about his status as the 'Honorable Grandson of the Sandaime Hokage'. He had then named Naruto his 'boss' and thought he was her boyfriend. She waved him off, ignoring Naruto's stuttering and blush while saying they weren't like that.
Sakura reached the academy in record time, about to open the door in trepidation. It soon left her once she heard the sound of loud footsteps shaking the ground. Understanding dawned on her when she saw Ino rushing towards her and shoving her aside to slide the paper door open.
She winced reaching to touch her head, the skin was raised."Probably wanted a seat next to Sasuke," She muttered, walking to her seat. Hinata greeted her with a small smile"G-good morning Sakura,"
Sakura lightly smiled."Morning," She slipped a hand into her pouch, tossing a shuriken up and down, the four-pointed weapon twirling in her grasp. Her eyes trailed over her friend, seeing in surprise the location of Hinata's headband."We match," She noticed her confused look before tapping the shined metal with the shuriken."Our hitai-ate's"
Hinata nodded, twirling her fingers shyly."Y-yeah,it's more comfortable this way. I though i-it would look weird on my forehead."
Sakura's hand unconsciously went up to brush away her bangs."Yeah,I have a pretty big forehead myself." She said under her breath, but Hinata heard and waved her hands furiously."N-no you don't!"
Her less-than-finer traits of her appearance was her average chest and large forehead. Her strange pink hair was also odd in her family, but it most likely came from her fathers darker shade combining with her mothers blonde. Her favorite thing about her appearance actually was her eyes. It was an icy shade of green mixed with blue nearing her pupils, making a bluer turqoise colour.
Sakura leaned her head on her palm, tuning out the squeals behind her. A headache started to form as she heard them yelling about how they got there first, and how he belonged to them. Her irritation started to bubble up more due to her lack of sleep the other night thinking about team placement, clouding her mind. A vein bulged at her temple as her closed eyes twitched open.
Now,Sakura wasn't one to get easily angered. Irritated maybe, but she had been rather..stressed these past few days.
Hinata must have felt her anger and hesitantly tried to placate her as she slammed her hands on the table furiously. Mana started to crackle out of her palms slowly as she took deep breaths.
Some in the class started to wince, seeing her get up slowly to walk up to the girls that didn't notice her presence at all. They're in for it now.
Master, please calm yourself;mana is starting to seep out of your hands, responding to your will.
Sakura looked down, continuing her steps up to the boy. In her peripherals, slight translucent energy was starting to pulse against her fingertips in small waves. It thrummed in her grasp. She exhaled, closing her fist then relaxing them. She felt her anger simmer down slowly. I'm fine. Believe me.
And she was. Until the girls just in front of her started to scowl viciously, squawking at her in rage.
Ami sneered at her."Come to steal my spot huh? Well too bad Forehead Girl!"
Some of the girls turned to Ami with a frown."Hey,who said that was your seat!"
"Yeah!"
"Hey I want to sit next to Sasuke-kun too~! A whiny tone said.
"Girls, girls," Sakura glanced at Ino who was haughtily flipping her platinum blonde hair over her shoulder. "We all know Sasuke-kun belongs to me,so it's only natural I sit next to m-"
"How can you say that so nonchalantly?"Sakura had already taken the seat beside the object of their affections much to their growing dislike. Sakura shuddered. The raven-haired boy beside her didn't belong to anyone. While it was true she was their guardian, she had no ownership over them, but it was the other way around where she belonged to them. But this girl was saying she had full control over him as if he was...nothing. As much of a brat he is,nobody deserved that to be said about them; especially if said person is a few feet away
Sakura grimaced, shaking her head at the thought."You don't own him, even if some of you think you do-" At that point she got some attracted the gazes of the rest of the class, trying to ignore Hinata's worried stare."That's just not right."
"What do you know? I bet you like him as much as the rest of us!?!!" A girl screeched.
Like him? She sighed, eyes drooping as she tried to stay awake. Luckily their glares did the trick.
"Maybe," Sakura admitted, shaking her head choosing not to hear their triumphant gasps."But...I don't know him well enough and neither do you."
"How would you know that?!"
"Yeah!"
"Butt out Forehead girl!"
"I think I know." Sakura gave them a wry smile."You hover over him, thinking your affection will help him,but...why don't you give him some space? I admire your will, honestly, but how would it feel if you were walking a day in his shoes? Everyone giving you those looks day in and out? To me,if it was me,I would feel suffocated."
That was the honest truth. Sometimes, people liked to be alone. Sasuke looked slightly stunned at her words before returning to a stoic expression. She noticed it out of the corner of her eye and pointed at him with a scowl."And as for you-" She walked behind him to reach the back of his head, smacking it loudly. The girls gasped in surprise.
Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose with a heaved sigh."Why can't you deal with them? I'm tired of doing damage control and for what? To some girls fighting for a seat next to you?" Her eyes burned as she blinked the blurriness away. I really need sleep.
This whole situation was stupid but she knew that she only cared enough about it because she wanted to get her mind off of team placements and migraine. Oh god. If by some off chance she ended up on another team...well,she was obviously getting her hopes up because to begin with she shouldn't know that they were to be placed in teams. Iruka had told her early on that Konoha relied heavily on teamwork, hence the 'three-man squads'.
Sasuke's burning glare at her snapped her out of her thoughts."It's none of your business anyway." Where did she get off telling him what to do? He could admit that her words made his eyebrows raise,if only a bit. She was right, they didn't understand but neither did she.
She gave him a quirk of her lips at the very least, shaking her head once more. Sakura wasn't offended by his words,Someday you'll realize that it is my business.
In the end, they both thought the other didn't understand what the other was going through when that wasn't farther from the truth.
The tense silence was broken as Naruto walked into the classroom, headband shined and polished. Some were gaping at the blonde-haired orange-wearing boys entrance and others jaws dropped to the floor. When did he graduate?!!
"...Naruto?" Shikamaru yawned, raising a hand to cover it. The lazy genin sent him a pointed stare, rubbing his eyes awake.
"You didn't graduate, what are you doing here?"
Naruto didn't seem offended and just grinned widely."Open your eyes Shikamaru!" He jutted a thumb at his hitai-ate."This is a regulation headband! So that means I'm going to be working alongside you and the others!" He smirked."Besides, this looks good on me,dattebayo!"
Hinata smiled shyly at him."I'm glad you p-passed,N-Naruto-kun." She whispered quietly.
Shikamaru scowled in response to his loudness, picking his ear."Yeah,yeah-" A yawn broke through once more."Whatever."
Naruto looked around the room for Sakura with a pout. She had left before him this morning and he had ran into Konohamaru who had almost made him late! But she did make him breakfast so he supposed he could...forgive her. He glanced around the room once more, only to find something he least expected.
Sakura was near Sasuke!
Naruto frowned, hearing the arguments of the other girls next to him. He went sheet-white. Does that mean...she wants to sit next to him?!??
No way!
It's always Sasuke!
He jumped in between the girls, only to get pushed back. He fell on the ground with a thud."Ouch!"
Sakura heard him and pushed through the angry girls. They were even more angry now because Sakura hit their true love! Before she could get to him,she noticed him jumping on Sasuke's desk in a crouched position. Sakura sweatdropped as she saw how close their faces were.
Naruto glared as Sasuke did the same.
"Hey! Get away from him blondie!"
"Yeah!"
"...Naruto,maybe you should step back a bit?" Sakura said, looking at he comical sight before her. Naruto took her words the wrong way, thinking she was with the fangirls who wanted to sit next to him.
Naruto stared at him, lips turning down. Why are they so obsessed with him? Sasuke,Sasuke,Sasuke, what's the big deal with this guy!
Sasuke scowled."Get away from me loser!"
Lightning began to shoot between their eyes at the intensity of their glares.
Sakura sighed for what seemed to be the hundredth time that day."I'm not going to survive with these two." She muttered, going over to touch the two boy's shoulders lightly."Just stop."
The girls behind her grew angry."Don't touch him!"
"Get away from him!"
"Don't let her tell you what to do Sasuke-kun!"
Ami went up and tried to aim a punch at her but she ducked her head down slightly feeling wind rush behind her in movement. At the same time,a boy who was excitedly talking about a new magazine that had come out was making wild gestures with his hand actually pushing Naruto back.
You could almost tell were this was going...but not quite.
He laughed sheepishly, turning around to apologize."Oh sorry, did I bump...you..." His words trailed off as his jaw dropped at the sight.
Simultaneously, everyone gasped in shock at the sight while some of the boys burst of laughing. The girls couldn't register what they were seeing as it was too unbelievable to be a reality.
"W-what the.."
"Um.."
Hinata fainted.
Shikamaru was,surprisingly(not),asleep.
A chip fell from Chōji's hand.
Kiba was barking out loud laughs, ironically.
Shino looked away.
And Sakura?...She was in the middle of it.
Sasuke's eyes widened as the blonde fell on him and his mouth. They were like that for a split second in utter shock. But their eyes twitched as they spluttered pulling away."Gross!"
"Get away!"
Sakura groaned, trying to get up seeing dark blue fabric in her vision."What the..." She suddenly fell forward, tugging it with her on accident. She cursed as her head and back slammed on the wood flooring. Something seemed to fall onto her because she heard another set of gasps and hollers. Somethings...on my mouth?
Mint? and smells like a...forest?
Like ...pine? Or the training grounds?
Her turqoise eyes widened as they flew open, seeing midnight onyx staring back at her. Sasuke was the only one in that room who had eyes like that.
Wait a minute...
Oh no...don't tell me...
She was kissing him!!??
They both shoved each other away as Sakura released her grasp on what seemed to be his sleeve, coughing into her hand."Sorry," She said under her breath. She got up slowly, seeing the glares sent her way and some of the giggles from the girls who didn't like him. Sakura traced the outline of her lips with a feather-like touch with a twitch. As far as kisses went, she could say that in the past she could barely remember any relationships, assuming she had any at all. And here she was, having her first kiss at twelve.
"She stole his second kiss!"
"No fair!"
She felt her cheeks burn against her will as she furrowed a brow. Second? Then who was his first? Sakura found her answer as she saw Naruto in front of her looking a bit green. She heard the faint sounds of "Danger," coming from him. She glared as she saw the girls lunge at him and stepped beside him."Leave him alone,"
They snarled back at her."He took his first kiss!"
"And you took his second!"
She rolled her eyes, all traces of blush disappearing."Is that it? It probably wasn't even on purpose..." Sakura looked at Naruto with raised brow skeptically."At least I think...?" When did that happen? When she fell on Sasuke?
It was almost laughable. Naruto wanting to kiss Sasuke?! A fit of laughter escaped her lips thinking about it. Yeah, right! They hate each other!
"Sakura!" Naruto whined. He was still reeling at the fact Sasuke took her first kiss. I wanted her first kiss!
The situation quickly difused as everyone went to their seats. Naruto ended up sitting next to Sakura who was next to Sasuke, unfortunately. Everyone was relieved and went back to their own conversations, waiting for their Sensei to show up. Around Sakura, there seemed to be a somewhat awkward air around the three of them. Sakura ran a hand through her bangs, brushing them out of her face. Silently stealing a glance, she noticed Sasuke staring out the window with his gaze trained on the scenery outside.
"-staring at?"
What?
Sasuke looked towards her just barely with indifference."What are you staring at me for?" At this point she just wanted to avoid him because of the tension. Sakura wouldn't be able to tell if he was mad or in differen
Sakura gave him a once-over. A quick "Nothing," left her lips as she closed her eyes, leaning back against her seat. Raising Heart, you're oddly quiet. What are you thinking about?
Actually Master,I was thinking about your almost successful contract today. Her automated voice seemed mysteriously chipper to her. She ignored that in favor of her words.
What are you on about?
Raising Heart had told her in the beginning about contracts. They were essentially in the name 'an agreement or pledge between mages' to ensure the other did their part of it. The A.I didn't go into detail though, just basic information. But now she was telling her she almost formed one?
Right,I haven't exactly told you have I? Master, primarily to mages any type of contract is sealed with a kiss or gesture of good will or faith. When you gain a familiar, you will have to do the same. The gesture of good will, however is more difficult because of the amount of trust that must be showed between people.
Why a kiss? It seemed a bit... unorthodox. She paled. I actually have to kiss them?
Sasuke wouldn't let her two feet near him and Naruro would just make it awkward between the two of them since they were actually friends. The gesture of good will or faith? She could forget about that because once again,Sasuke didn't trust her,but maybe it would work with Naruto?
Magic power was easier to exchange that way, think of it like a blessing. The kiss can be anywhere you wish it to be as long as you will what you wish. So if you did kiss someone out of love- She tried to cover a snort at that. Yeah, right. Her?
It wouldn't be a contract because of your intent towards the person.
Now she was confused.
Wait, you said I almost formed a contract but my intent wasn't to do that,it was an accident.
Since you are their guardian-
More like glorified babysitter,but,continue please.
Raising Heart didn't seem all that bothered by her answers and continued. Since you are a guardian,it is much easier to make a contract. Earlier, you had mana flowing through you in response to your irritation and it still lingered when you kissed that boy. Like I said,it was almost successful but you didn't have enough mana to complete it along with the fact that you didn't state your pledge.
Sonething still nagged at her mind. And what about a familiar? I thought those were for witches? Wait, ignore that last comment.
Sometimes it was hard to think that she wasn't one. Sakura knew the type she was thinking about were the stereotypical versions of witches on t.v shows but couldn't help it.There was magic, different abilities, and all sorts of crazy things she didn't know about. Besides, was the idea of being a witch so far off? The term 'mage' was rather vague. Although, she still had so many questions...
Familiar's usually are companions to mages, much like summonings in this world. They are to aid and assist you in anyway you need them.
Sakura didn't miss the 'usually' in her statement. What do you mean usually?
There have been cases in which a familar can go...rogue. She seemed to hesitate a bit,as though her memory was hazy. Forgive me,but I do not remember much master. I need my jewel for more information.
Jewel? She vaguely remembered a ruby necklace but that was about it. Sakura's face twisted into something of a grimace. Her memory kept slipping and it was starting become bothersome.
It's fine,what a-
Her eyes snapped open at the sound of Iruka entering the room. She looked to the side to see Sasuke staring at her this time strangely. It was like he was trying to figure something out about her which made Sakura oddly uncomfortable. His eyes slowly left her as they listened to Iruka.
Iruka strode up to the front of the room, clipboard in hand. Sakura observed that his eyes were misty, which meant he was either about to cry or going to force it down in favor of continuing. She was...touched at the fact that he would cry for a bunch of kids who had caused him a lot of trouble over the years. He seemed to pull himself together, clearing his throat.
"As of today, you are all ninja's. Together you've faced difficult trials and hardships, but that's nothing," Iruka started, hearing some of the students groan because they were familiar with his long-winded speeches."What comes next will be far more difficult, because now your are only genin, the lowest level ninja's. All of you today will be grouped into three-man squads and each squad will be lead by a jōnin,an elite ninja."
Some of the students looked confused while others a look of realization.
A three-man squad?
"Well someone has to be in Sasuke's group,I wonder who~?" Ino said, smirking down at Sakura. Except she didn't get the reaction she'd hoped for.
"I don't know, that doesn't really bother me." Sakura said. It did, because she needed both Naruto and Sasuke. But she couldn't exactly tell her that.
Sasuke's jaw tightened a fraction. A three-man team? Tch,that'll only slow me down.
Naruto propped his hand on his fist, thinking deeply. Well,I want to be with Sakura and...well I dont care as long as it's not Sasuke! He glared out of the corner of his eye at the raven-haired boy.
"We want each squad to have a balance of strengths and abilities,so that's how we set them up." Iruka said, lifting the board in his hand with a grin."I will now announce the squads."
Team after team was called as they waited eagerly for there names. Most were curious to see if they ended up with friends,or their worst enemies because of balance. Sakura bit her lip anxiously. She was praying for a miracle that wouldn't happen but it it would be alright if she atleast had one of them.
"Team 7! Uzumaki Naruto!" Iruka called.
Sakura looked up quickly at that.
"Haruno Sakura!" She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in relief. Well what do you know,a miracle did happen.
Naruto beamed."Alright!" He turned to offer a high-five,grinning as she slapped his palm with hers.
She had one for one.
"And Uchiha Sasuke!"
And two for two.
Sasuke himself like he was contemplating murder or suicide, but Naruto on the other hand deflated like an old balloon.
Naruto's happiness shattered in an instant."I'm doomed!" The blonde slammed his head on the table in despair. Sakura patted his back lightly at his woe."Sorry Naruto." She knew they didn't get along(hell, that was an understatement, they were like oil and water)but she had to make sure they at least tolerated each other to survive on this crazy team.
"Next,team eight! Hyūga Hinata!"
Sakura sighed. If she didn't have to be with these two she could have been with her. Hinata looked up at her and nodded. They could still hang out when they weren't with their teamates. Sakura had known the heiress had wanted to be with the blonde and was disappointed.
"Inuzuka Kiba!"
Kiba cracked a smile at the girl as she nervously eeped in surprise. The fanged boy had no problems working with the shy girl. "And Aburame Shino!" The half-masked male nodded as Kiba sweatdropped. He scratched his head with uncertainty. Jeez,he has no presence at all!
Shino was notorious for people not noticing him. It happened often really,so much so that he usually had to tell them he was there. He was quiet and his clan using bug techniques didn't help him in making alot of friends either, just a few.
Ino scowled at Sakura."Ugh! How did you get on his team!"
"Well, teams are supposed to be balanced," Sakura rested her arm on her seat."And I guess all three of us theoretically should work well together,if you don't count their rather...unique personalities."
"Huh?" Ino paused, thinking about her words."What do you mean? And Sasuke has an amazing personality!" She yelled.
"...Well-" She was cut off by Shikamaru.
"I don't get it. What do see in a guy like that? He's not so special." Shikamaru said. Girls just didn't make sense, kind of like his Kaa-san.
Ino sent the boy a pitying look."Shikamaru, you're so beyond clueless, don't you get it?"
"No I don't get it because I'm not a girl." He retorted bluntly as Sakura snickered at his answer.
Ino sighed, shaking her head."Your so full of yourself,I'd hate to be on your squad"
"Careful Ino,karma's a bitch when you least expect it. I mean, look at my team." Sakura said with a smirk. Shikamaru out right laughed at Ino's facial expression.
"And now team ten! Yamanaka Ino,Nara Shikamaru-!"
"You know,I can't say I hate to say I told you so."
"Yeah, didn't you say something about hating to be on my squad?" Shikamaru taunted.
"And Akimichi Choji!"
"Noo! I have food-boy too!" The platinum blonde wailed.
"Those are all the squads, after lunch yo-"
Naruto stood up suddenly pointing at Sasuke."Iruka-sensei why'd you put a great ninja like me have to be in the same group with a slug like Sasuke!" He didn't understand. He was way better than him too! Why couldn't he just be with Sakura!
Iruka knitted his brow, frowning at him."Because Sasuke had the best scores of all the graduating students. Naruto-" He put emphasis on his name."You had the worst scores. To create a balanced group,we put the best students with the worst students."
Naruto sat down with a huff, growling at Sasuke as the class broke out into laughter at his expense.. Sakura on the other hand had a thinking look on her features. She tapped her chin. "Wait...if he put the best student with the worst student..." Realization struck her."Does that make me average!?" She hung her head. No way! My test scores matched Sasuke's!
Naruto patted her back much like she did earlier to him."Don't worry Sakura,I don't think your average!"
"...Coming from you, that doesn't really make me feel a whole lot better." She quipped.
"Oi!"
"Just make sure to stay out of my way...losers." Sasuke said, seemingly having enough of their remarks. They both rounded on him.
"What'd you say?!" Naruto said, blue eyes darkening.
"...Want to repeat that?" Sakura said with lividity.
"Hard of hearing? That's sad even for the both of you." The raven-haired boy said, turning to give them a cocky smirk. The class laughed even louder at them.
"Quiet down back there! As I was saying, after lunch you will meet your new jōnin sensei's,until then, class dismissed!" Iruka said, giving them his last message.
O.o.O
Sakura walked around aimlessly, seeing that Hinata had decided to eat with her own team. She had originally wanted the three of them to eat together, but Naruto had ran off after she had grudgingly suggested Sasuke to eat with them as well,so heaven knows where he ran off to.
She sat down on a bench, taking out not her lunch, but the crimson case held on the white sash on her hips. She twisted the lock open to take out the item inside with a mischievous smile. She quickly surveyed the area around her. Coast clear~ The item? A book.
Master, you musn't. Raising Heart cut in as she brough it out halfway.C'mon,no ones around. Besides,I didn't bring lunch so what am I supposed to do? Correction:it wasn't a simple book, more like her own grimoire.
That journal was a compilation of every rune Raising Heart had taught her, along with sequence patterns for simple things like a small 'explosion' which was made up of 'heat','energy',and 'blast'. Those were standard ones along with a signature speed and shield move which Raising Heart had told her about which came with mage weapons . Those were distinctive traits of a mage because each one had their own specialty which was kind of cool because guess what?
The ability was all her own so no one could copy it! Take that sharingan users!
Moving on it also had a few add-ins of things she remembered from her past life. They were mostly scrawled in her messy cursive writing with the edges littered with doodles of music notes for the violin and piano. It was split up into three sections which consisted of spells, remembrance, and miscellaneous for just notes or important dates to remember.
She quickly closed the book with a sweatdrop. When she was nine, she had unconsciously made the mistake of writing it in japanese. Anybody could read it,but they wouldn't understand what it was about. She could re-write it,but that would take a long time to do and create problems she didn't need at the moment.
In the end,she engraved a 'lock' rune onto it,hoping it was enough at the moment.
"Sakura,"
Huh?
She glanced upwards at the voice. It was Sasuke...but what did he want with her? She slid her grimoire into the case with an arched brow.
"Sakura...your forehead is so wide and charming...makes me feel like kissing it."
If she had been drinking water she would have choked because of his tone and words."What!"
Now she was suspicious. There was no way in hell he would ever say that. He himself said she had a large forehead as a child.
"Just kidding, that's the kind of dumb thing Naruto would say." Okay,Sasuke never joked around with anyone. He barely tolerated her as a person, but making jokes? Sakura's brows raised even higher as he went to sit down next to her. His actions sort of reminded her of someone."I want to ask you something,"
Her lips twisted. He was coming to her for advice? She'd be dead and buried if it was him for real. His stance, posture, and actions remided her of someone alright: that someone reminded her of Naruto.
What do you think of Naruto?"
Now she knew it was him.
She gave him a contemplating look."Hmm...Naruto?"
"Y-yeah," Sasuke said.
"Naruto to me..is interesting." She answered honestly. She quirked her lip."But why are you asking me that anyway,Sasuke?" He didn't miss the emphasis on his name, face scrunching up in a pained expression.
He shook his head."No reason." With that he walked no ran off, leaving her bewildered if only slightly."What's up with him?"
She got up,stretching out her arms with a pop. Striding back to the classroom mid-way,she felt something tug her wrist, pulling her back. Sakura yelped, spinning around to punch them. Her fist stopped an inch from the attacker's face. But Sasuke's other hand tightened on her hand."Sasuke?" She still held her fist where it was, eyes narrowing."What do you want?"
"Where. is. Naruto?" His voice dropped a few octaves, onyx glaring at her.
"Naruto? He ran off back to school and could you let go?" She yanked her fist back before feeling the urge to actually punch him. She rubbed her wrist with a frown,it was a little tinge of pink near her hand. Sakura sighed, turning back to the academy. When she heard no footsteps, she only looked to the side."Well? Follow me or not but we have to meet our new sensei eventually." She muttered before blinking. Had he been walking behind her the whole time?
"Keep up Haruno," He said, walking past her with his hands jutted in his pockets.
"Oh Shut up!" Her voice echoed through the forest in annoyance.
He only smirked again.
O.o.O
"Naruto please, for the love of god sit down." Sakura stressed. She was already irritated enough that they had been sitting in this room for the the past three hours but Naruto had practically bouncing off the walls bored out of his mind.
Naruto pouted."But I'm bored!" The expired milk from earlier apparently didn't stop him from being energized now."And how come our teacher is the only one that's late? I'm ready to go!"
"Believe,me I know." Sakura said.
"The other groups already met their sensei's and took off on some adventure or mission and hey wait a sec! Iruka ditched us too!" He grumbled.
"We know." Sakura said again. She untied the ribbon in her hair letting down flowing pink strands. She put the ribbon between her teeth, bunching up her hair in a new ponytail. When she finished wrapping it around, she noticed something peculiar. "Naruto what are you doing?" He was in front of the door with a thinking expression.
Naruto backed up to the blackboard, wiping off the day's notes. It quickly became covered in white chalkboard dust. Sakura 'ohed' in understanding.
"A prank?" He nodded, reaching up to place the eraser up between the doors. He grinned, jumping down."Yup! He won't know what hit him! Surprise!"
"Idiot, our teacher is a jōnin,an elite ninja, you think he'd fall for that?" Sasuke said, leaning on his hands in front of him.
Suddenly a pale, gloved hand reached to open the door. They all froze in anticipation, watching to see if he'd fall for it. Sakura watched intently before face-palming. The door slid open all the way as the man entered, the eraser falling on his head.
Plop!
Naruto burst out into laughter as Sasuke and Sakura sighed. The blonde pointed at their new sensei. He had silver gravity-defying hair,so the eraser dust blended in. His headband was slanted over his left eye, attire consisting of dark blue standard shinobi pants and a dark green flak jacket. On his face,he had a mask that obscured most of it,not counting his right eye so she couldn't tell what he was thinking.
Naruto almost collapsed to the ground if it weren't for the pink-haired girl hauling him up by his collar."S-Sakura-chan he actually fell for it! I g-got him!" More laughter spilled from his lips.
"Pull yourself together!" Sakura hissed into his ear before bowing to their sensei in acknowledgement. She straightened, seeing Sasuke's lips turning down.
"This guy...is he really a jōnin?" He muttered with a frown.
The silver-haired man's lone eye bored into them in observation. He bent down to pick up the eraser, tossing it in his hand as their eyes followed the action."My first impression of you..." They watched with a bated breath, wondering what his opinion was.
Sakura pressed her lips into a thin line. It must not be good, considering what Naruto just did. She bit her lip. But how could he fall for something like that?
"Hmm...how can I put this? My first impression of you guys is that...your a bunch of idiots." He finished.
Sakura regarded him with calmness. Called it. Just about what I expected.
Sasuke scowled at him and Naruto shouted at him."We're not idiots!"
The man appeared to be unfazed."Meet me on the rooftop." With that, his body was engulfed in smoke, remnants dancing in the air lazily. Sakura turned to the two boys,"Well?"
They exited the classroom, each holding their own opinions of the strange man. Walking on the stairwell,Sakura felt her stomach grumble. She ignored the blonde and raven-haired boy's pointed looks."What?" She asked, walking up faster but Naruto caught up quickly."Did you eat lunch Sakura-chan?" Naruto asked with concern as Sasuke glanced at her apathetically.
"No," She muttered, twisting the knob."I'm not hungry anyway." She entered seeing their sensei leaned against the railing, reading a book. She didn't get the chance to read the cover before he tucked it away in his weapon pouch.
Besides,I have bigger things to worry about then my own hunger.
