"Natsu, isn't it mean of little Lucy to take away your spot on the cross-country team," a brown haired bimbo gripped onto Natsu arm, pushing Lucy away.

"I might not be off of the team, there is one spot left and I'm sure as hell Gray isn't going to get it." Natsu cheered, making the surrounding girls swoon. Lucy started to walk towards her form room, vaguely remembering where it is. She was about to open the door when she got tackled.

"Lu-chan, I'm so sorry. I tried to help, but they ambushed me and locked me in the closet." Lucy was too shocked, mirroring Levy's hug.

"It's okay, Levy. It's fine. Let's get in the classroom." Lucy pulled away and smiled. She entered the classroom, most students were sitting down talking, glancing at Lucy and Levy before going back to their conversation. The group of girls and Natsu walked in and Lucy could feel a small tug on her heart.

"Natsu's nice to everyone." She turned to Levy, "And ever since Wendy got taken, he changed. He's back to normal now."

"So... he's like that with everyone." Lucy asked, slightly disheartened.

"Yup, he really is a good guy." There was an awkward silence between the two.

"Anyway, I finished 'A fault in our stars' and-" She was cut off.

"WHAT? ALREADY?" Levy yelled, standing up. She received a few glares, slowly she sat back down.

"Yes. I read really fast." Lucy wasn't going to explain how she can read so fast or that she could probably recite most of the book back to the blunette. Lucy loved the book, it was the first piece of non-fiction she has ever read, and it made her feel so much. She didn't know that the written word was so powerful. The book made her cry, there was a lot she didn't understand about the book, such as what the illness is but Augustus died, and death was one thing Lucy did understand.

Levy and Lucy chatted about the book until Gildarts walked in.

"Lucy, where were you all afternoon?" Gildarts demanded an answer.

"I was up a tree, sir" Lucy replied honestly, making the class laugh. Lucy, again, didn't understand.

"Lucy no cheek with me, or I'll give you a detention. Anyway, Laxus wants to see you, Natsu and Gray. Hurry along, you know what that brats like." Gildarts went to his desk, and started to take roll as the three leaves. Lucy follows the two fighting boys all the way to the P.E department office.

"STOP FIGHTING, YOU'RE GIVING ME A HEADACHE!" Laxus yelled and the two boys stopped, and stood in a military like line.

"When will the battle for the spot begin?" Natsu yelled, ready to fight Gray.

"As much as I'd love to watch you two fight, cross-country actually clashes with football, so Natsu. Sorry, you're off." Laxus told Natsu opened his mouth to complain, but Laxus already pushed him out of his office.

"Right, you two. Practice tonight after school. Gramps was... enthusiastic about Lucy joining a sports team and got you guys a kit. Lucy, considering you don't have a P.E kit, country kit will do alright." Laxus threw the two their kit and pushed them out, just as he did to Natsu. Natsu stood there, waiting for Lucy. He was annoyed that Gray would spend so much time with Lucy, and not him. He would have liked to be on track with her, instead his 'rival' is on the team. He was sour, but tried to be happy for her.

"Look, Natsu, I have a kit and everything." Lucy held it in front of him. He grinned at her, no matter how sour he felt, he couldn't be mad towards her. He'd be mad to Gray.

"Does it cover everything?" Natsu asked, forgetting Gray didn't know a thing about Lucy's genetics. Hiding it was becoming just a bigger problem every day.

"Yup. No need to worry!" Lucy smiled, but Gray just stood there confused before heading to his first class. People started to flood the corridors, and it was Lucy's first English class. She went and sat down, unfortunately there was a seating plan, and she sat in the opposite side of the room to Natsu. Even less fortunate, she sat next to the girl who decided to make her life a living hell, Minerva.

"SHAKESPEARE!" yelled a teacher with long green hair, he was carrying a stack of books and plopped it on his desk. He scanned the classroom, eyes stopping on Lucy. He smiled softly.

"You must be the new student? Heartfillia?" He asked, and she nodded back, "I'm Mr Justine, you're English teacher." He turned to a brunette. "Cana, hand these out." Cana stood up and started throwing the books to each desk. When the book named 'A midsummer nights dream' landed on her desk, she flicked it open. The writing looked alien to her, thee? Thus? It wasn't in her mental dictionary.

"What? Don't know Shakespeare? Really are a blonde bimbo aren't you?" Minerva smirked, Lucy knew a bimbo was a bad thing, so she ignored her.

"You were meant to read it over summer in preparation. I'll let Lucy off, but question time." Mr Justine started asking about facts on the book, one being what did bottoms head turn into, which was confusing. Bottoms don't have heads right? She thought. It finally became a discussion on favourite characters.

"Titania obviously, she's the queen. Me and her share qualities!" Minerva yelled out, and everyone rolled their eyes.

"Not really, she's a fairy, and you aren't. She has magic, you don't and finally she has wings and you don't." A blonde girl snapped at her, but Lucy tensed at wings.

"Yes, but if I had magic, it would be weird and if I had wings" She coughed out a laugh, "I wouldn't even be human, I'd be a freaky hybrid. I mean, I'm basically the human version of Titania!" Minerva vainly stated. Lucy wanted to cry, but she couldn't. It would be suspicious. Holding her tears in was making the world spin, blood rushed to her head and she started breathing to fast. Pins and needles took over her whole body. Her breathing caught the attention of the class.

"Lucy, do you want to go medical?" Mr Justine asked, which was a stupid question, of course she wanted to leave the classroom. She stood up, knocking her chair over, and wobbly walked out, her hands shaking, and was walking on needles as she went to the medical room. She violently pushed the door open, nearly taking it off of its hinges. No one was in the white room. She slammed the door closed, locking it after her. Her breathing was still as unsteady, and her eyes were still causing her to see double. She ripped off her school top, tossing it on the floor allowing her wings to unfold open. They barely fit in the small medical room. She dropped to her knees, not being able to take her own weight. She heard banging on the door, but ignored it.

"LUCY?" Natsu yelled in to her. His voice echoed in her head, his shadow stood in front of her.

"Ahhwaa, Lucy. Minerva's right you know. You were born in a lab, so you are a freaky hybrid. Not human. We could send you back to the school?" The shadow Natsu smirked evilly. She blinked and the shadow was gone. Her mind was playing tricks on her, but the emotions couldn't be felt, Lucy thinking it was different from someone actually saying it. Her breathing increased, the pins and needles spreading all over her body and up her neck. There was an overflow of adrenaline. She walked to one of the shelves and stumbled to grab a pair of medical scissors. They were more trouble than they were worth, she wanted them gone. She kneeled in front of the mirror, she was only wearing her skirt and a bra, having full access over the top of her wings. She brought the blunt scissors to the top, trying to hack at them, biting her bottom lip to stop her from screaming. Her hands shaking that she sometimes missed, carving a bloody line into her back. The banging on the door increase, it soundly like he was kicking it down. Lucy hurried her mind going everywhere. She dropped the scissors, the blood dripping on her hands. She panicked. The door swung open, Natsu ran in, trying to pick Lucy off of the ground. He pulled her into a hug, pulling her crying face into a hug.

"Shhhh, Luce. It's alright." Natsu coughed out.

"Humans are cruel Natsu. Why are they so cruel, Natsu? I don't want to be a freak. I want to be a human too." She sobbed into his chest.

"It's okay, Luce. It's alright. We'll go home, you'll have some sleep. It'll be alright." Natsu smiled down at her.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS SHE?"

A/N: Woohoo! Next chapter, and Lucy has a breakdown. It's about time. I would if I was a human bird hybrid suddenly put into a whole new world. How y'all doing? I'm on half term, and ill. Sucks to be ill on a holiday. Thanks for all the follows, reviews and favourites. I read/ appreciate all of them (even the guest reviews x). To reviewers, yes, it is like Maximum Ride. It is one of my favourites so I got inspired.

Anyway, until next time friends.
