Hey! What's up and this is the tenth chapter of this story! I am really proud of myself of making it this far. I hope you enjoy this chapter and like always we shall begin right now.
Humphrey and Kate stared at each other in shock, the cool water passing over their bodies. Then Humphrey snapped out of it and cleared his throat, making Kate snap out of it as well.
"So, what are you doing here?" Humphrey asked.
"What else? To have fun," said Kate. She grabbed a tube next to her and faintly smiled in amusement.
Humphrey chuckled, "Is that so? Well, in that case, you better duck."
Humphrey grabbed Kate and stopped a tube that was going to hit her. He looked at Spectrum and grinned.
"What a lousy shot Spec," he called out.
"Shut up!" said Spectrum.
Kate looked at Spectrum and growled dangerously, obviously angry that Spectrum had thrown a tube at her and didn't even say sorry. Spectrum raised an eyebrow and advanced to her.
"I am sorry for almost hitting you but I must insist that a delicate lady like you should-, "
Spectrum didn't get to finish his sentence for Kate was offended when Spectrum called her delicate. Grabbing Spectrum by his arm, she hit Spectrum foot causing him to lose balance while at the same time pulling Spectrum's arm. Spectrum's head splashed in the water and Kate held him down. After about three seconds of Spectrum splashing about, Kate let go of Spectrum.
Spectrum gasped for air and somehow managed to say with a trace of amusement, "Well, now I know how dangerous you can be, I like that."
Kate grinned and pounded Spectrum on the back making him spit out the water. Spectrum cleared his throat and said, "Thanks."
"No problem," said Kate. She then splashed water in his face and in Humphrey's face making those both yelp.
Kate laughed and quickly got on her tube and let the current carry her. Humphrey smiled and looked at Spectrum in a mysterious way. Spectrum had raised eyebrows, curious why Humphrey was looking at him like that. Humphrey then suddenly pushed Spectrum and he fell in the water. Spectrum looked up from the water as he saw Humphrey laughing while he was on his tube and being drifted away. Spectrum cursed at him.
"You little runt! I'm going to get you!" Spectrum howled.
Ada and Zola basked in the sun. Zola sighed and Ada had a relaxed smile on her face. Ada loved the heat of the sun on her fur; it felt so nice and soothing. Then, Ada felt as if her face had lost that heat. Ada opened her eyes in confusion to see Drake and Derek, both of them grinning.
"What are you doing here?" they both asked simultaneously.
"I could say the same for you guys too," said Ada.
"Is that so? Well, we came here to enjoy some fun!" said Derek.
"Also, we have a surprise for Humphrey!" said Drake.
Zola cracked one eye open and whistled.
"What is the surprise?" asked Zola.
"Well now, we don't want to tell you, it's a surprise," the twins said mischievously.
"What's the point in telling us that you're going to surprise Humphrey if you aren't going to even tell us what that surprise is?" countered Ada.
"Ooh, touché," both twins said grinning.
"Why thank you," said Ada, "Now, if you don't mind, can you get out of the way please? We're trying to bask in the sun."
"Very well," said Derek. The twins walked away with a bag that was bulging. Ada eyed it with interest.
"What could be in that bag?" pondered Ada.
Derek and Drake grinned to each other. They had spotted Humphrey behind a bush and they watched him sneak up to Kate, who had her eyes closed. Lucky for Kate, there was no one around their area in the river pool but Humphrey was being quiet and Kate had her eyes closed and her ears flat against her head. Humphrey was starting to grin to himself.
"How about a nice sabotage?" asked Drake.
"My thoughts exactly," Derek said.
"Kate! BEHIND YOU!" they both screeched.
Humphrey got startled and splashed a bit of water making Kate open her eyes. As soon as she saw Humphrey she swam away on her tube. Humphrey cursed quietly.
Derek grinned and burst out laughing. Drake hit him in the gut silencing him but it was too late; Humphrey had pinpointed the location where Drake and Derek were. Humphrey growled and went to the bushes were Drake and Derek were.
"Hurry, the bag!" Drake whispered urgently. Drake and Derek grabbed the bag and got two balloons in his hand. He gave two to Drake. They both stood from the bushes and fired at Humphrey. All four of the balloons hit Humphrey in the face making him reel back. Humphrey snarled and swam over to where Drake and Derek were. Drake and Derek grinned and grabbed the bag and heaved it. From the bag a huge water balloon was extracted and hit Humphrey in the face making him fall in the water. Both Drake and Derek ran for it, laughing.
"We might die later on by Humphrey but it was worth it!" Drake yelled.
Derek nodded, laughing.
Humphrey rose from the surface of the water and growled to himself.
"Those guys are so going to pay," Humphrey vowed.
Humphrey grabbed his tube and continued his pursuit to Kate. He later spotted her relaxing again. Humphrey grinned before he was tackled from behind.
"Got you!" Spectrum roared. He tossed Humphrey near Kate making the water ripple and rise and up-turning the tube Kate was in. She squealed as Humphrey splashed next to her. Spectrum looked triumphant. A moment later Hutch was at Spectrum's side. Hutch saw Kate and waved to her as she rose from the water.
"Hey Kate," said Hutch.
"Hey, Hutch," responded Kate, coughing up some water. Humphrey rose a moment later shaking his head. He stopped and grinned at Spectrum.
"Well, you got me, we're even," said Humphrey.
"Yea," said Spectrum, both clearly tired from splashing about. Humphrey and Kate both grabbed their tubes and relaxed, Hutch and Spectrum floating belly up in the water next to them. It was quite peaceful, the water was a bit warm, all was quiet, and there were no other people near them, for now.
After a few minutes, the group was drifted to an exit where they all got off and left their tubes behind for other people to grab. Humphrey wanted to go to the wave section and so did the rest so that's where they went. When they arrived, several families were leaving; the time was 3:30 and some people wanted to call it a day. Humphrey grinned; it made the park a bit more peaceful. He spotted Ada and Zola. Spectrum had also spotted them as well and went up to Zola. He softly kissed Zola on the lips making Zola open her eyes in surprise. After she realized who was kissing her, she relaxed and kissed back. Ada looked at the couple and smiled.
"Aw, how sweet," she crooned. Zola flicked her off, making Ada burst in laughter.
"Ah, love," Drake and Derik and they clapped Humphrey on the back.
"Yea," said Humphrey, fantasizing about that with him and Kate. He suddenly realized who spoke though and grabbed the twins. Drake and Derek laughed before saying, "Were dead, might as well turn in a bit early than usual."
Humphrey growled, before throwing both twins in the water. Both of them gasped and spat the water from their mouths. Humphrey grinned and the twins grinned back sheepishly.
"Now, were even," Humphrey said. The twins nodded in agreement.
That's when a huge wave splashed Drake and Derek and when the water cleared, Drake and Derek looked so ridiculous. Humphrey, Kate, Ada, Spectrum and Zola laughed. Kate then noticed Hutch was shying away. Kate smiled and extended her hand to Hutch which Hutch hesitantly accepted. After everyone gained their composure, Ada had noticed Hutch and asked, "Who's he?"
"He's my friend," said Kate. Hutch smiled shyly and waved.
"He was also one of my students," said Spectrum.
"Student?" Kate asked.
"I trained him when I was a combat trainer," explained Spectrum.
"I see," responded Kate.
That's when someone shouted, "Kate!"
Kate turned around to see her friends, Angel, Stephanie, and Bella. Kate smiled. Her friends came with her to hang out with her.
"Hey, you guys, I wondered where you were," said Kate.
"Were were just relaxing in the River pool," said Angel.
"Garth's coming right now," Stephanie said. She giggled with Bella. Both of them blushed.
A wave of irritation tore through Kate. "Why can't that guy leave me in peace?" she thought.
That's when Kate noticed Angel looking at Derek with her pink eyes. Angel noticed Kate looking and blushed that was barely noticeable through her ginger and slightly red fur. Kate laughed and Angel blushed even more and turned her head away.
That's when Angel spotted Garth coming with Can-do and one of his alpha friends who was called Bane.
"Garth's coming," she said softly making everyone turn.
Garth had a happy look on his face but when he spotted Humphrey his expression grew hard but not as menacing as before. Humphrey took note of that with interest.
"What are you doing here?" Garth asked Humphrey in a low growl.
Humphrey sensed Garth was uncomfortable about something but answered, "I wanted to come here with my friends."
Garth looked at Humphrey's friends, first to Drake and Derek, then Zola, then Spectrum, and then to Ada. He noted Spectrum and Zola bore very unique eyes; silver and golden eyes were considered to be a miracle among wolves. He also noticed Drake and Derek looked very similar except for their eye color.
Garth then said, "Excuse me, but I would like to speak to Kate."
Kate and Humphrey were surprised by Garth's sense of manners. They have never heard him say "excuse me" before.
Kate obliged though and together she and Garth went towards the exit of the park. Humphrey pondered where they were going when a huge stream of water hit his face. He staggered and shook the water from his face to see that Ada had shot him in the face with a water gun. She smiled at him. Humphrey grinned and quickly grabbed Ada. He attempted to throw Ada but she reversed by grabbing Humphrey's head with her knees and back flipping, throwing Humphrey into an oncoming wave. Humphrey smashed in the wave. Angel laughed and felt nostalgia hit her in the gut. Angel remembered those days where her partner, her friend helped her in her work. It was a simple "I'll watch your back" kind of friendship.
Zola then called out, "Yea! Ada kicks ass!"
Angel whipped her head to Zola then to the wolf who Zola called Ada. Her eyes locked on Ada's features and she searched Ada's face and then her legs where she found a scar on Ada's leg in the shape of a lightning bolt. Angel was stunned.
"Ada!" Angel called. Ada stiffened as she had heard that voice before she turned around and was face to face with Angel. Ada looked in disbelief and quietly whispered, "Angel?"
"Ada, it's so nice to see you!" Angel squealed and she hugged Ada who hugged back with a very happy smile on her face. Spectrum cleared his throat making Ada and Angel break contact from the hug.
"Who is she exactly?" Spectrum asked.
"Angel was my friend, a long time ago," Ada said softly. She didn't want to reveal too much about how Angel was also her business partner in a certain type of work.
Little did Ada know Humphrey was sneaking up on her. So it was to Ada's complete and utter surprise when Humphrey lifted her and threw her to another oncoming wave.
Ada spat the water from her mouth and looked to see Humphrey laughing. Ada smiled and got back up, shaking her hair while she got up.
"Now, that's no way to treat a lady," Ada said. Humphrey looked at her quizzically before he felt someone push him into the water. At the sight of Humphrey being pushed in the water, everyone went nuts. Everyone charged in the wave pool, save for Stella and Stephanie who had snuck off to eavesdrop on Garth and Kate's conversation, and started to have fun. After all, what else should they do in the heat of the sun?
After a few hours of playing in the wave pool, everyone decided to lay back and relax while drying their fur in the sun. Humphrey though instead walked to an ice cream store and bought ice cream for everyone but himself. He returned and gave everyone their ice cream. Everyone said their thanks while Humphrey sat and watched as everyone ate up. He then saw Garth and Kate coming back, Garth looking like he had pressure lifted out of him and Kate was smiling. Humphrey greeted her and Garth bade her goodbye and left to the River Pool.
"So, what were you guys talking about?" Humphrey asked. Kate smiled at him.
"Well, it turns out my sister liked Garth and tried to approach him several times but failed. He also likes her a bit and he just wanted to tell me that our relationship should be just friends, since we know each other for at least a year and a half. I can call him my friend," Kate replied which Humphrey was taken by surprise at the news.
"Are you serious? Then that means-, "
"Means what?" Kate said with a mischievous smile. Humphrey gulped and felt his nerve fail him.
"Uh, that I might now be beaten by Garth so much now," said Humphrey to which Kate said, "Yea, glad that's over."
Humphrey breathed a sigh of relief, glad he came up with a getaway.
"When am I going to tell her?" Humphrey thought. That's when Kate noticed her watch and saw the time was almost 4:40 pm.
"Oh boy, I'm going to call it a day," said Kate and she went to go get her friends. Humphrey stared at her as the wind carried Kate's amber fur. Humphrey sighed at the sight. He then went over to everyone and asked if they wanted to go home. Everyone said yes. So Ada and Zola packed up their towels and water guns and put them in their bag. Derek and Drake got their bag and stuffed it with towels they had used after playing in the water. Drake and Derek said goodbye to Ada, Spectrum, Zola, and Humphrey. Then, they both got into a hummer and left. Humphrey got into his car and Ada joined him while Spectrum and Zola got in their car. Together, they left and drove onto the highway and from the highway; they drove to Humphrey's house. When Humphrey and the rest got back, it was late due to traffic and they all decided to sleep and turn in early. Today was a great moment of their lives.
Hey, that's the end of this chapter, this chapter did get really dull at the end and bland, but I couldn't really go into detail on how they would leave so, yea. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this story and have a nice Thanksgiving! I know I probably will. See ya.
