Request: April being haunted by Mutagen Man
Rating: K+
Pairing: None
A/N: This takes place during the episode Mutagen Man Unleashed, when he had tracked down April. Only, this is a bit different. Donnie let him be free, on the condition that he behaved himself and stays away from humans. He kept the agreement, until now.
Once again, a chill shot down her spine. The constant feeling of being watched hung over her, like a dark cloud that refused to leave. Even though she stopped hanging around the guys, her life still contained a bunch of weirdness.
From the corner of her eye, she saw movement in the darkened alley she had just passed. Before, she would have started to tremble and press her books against her chest. However, that was before her life was turned upside down.
Shifting a bit, she took her left hand and gripped her tessen. April didn't have plans to pursue the person- no mutant in question.
Can't be too safe, she thought to herself. After a few feet of walking down the empty sidewalk, she felt the presence fade. She relaxed her muscles and exhaled, feeling more at ease.
Lately, this was a regular thing to her, and she had a very good idea who was keeping tabs on her. At the thought of him, she furrowed her brows. Oh how she was angry, but angry didn't even begin to describe all her pent up feelings.
As she neared the entrance to her home, she felt eyes upon her again. Deciding she wasn't going to feed into it, she opened the door and slammed it behind her.
The house was dark, of course that was normal. Why wouldn't it be dark in here? It's not like anyone else is around…
She chewed on her lower lip and pressed her back against the door. The surface was cold, and it chilled her skin even through her clothing. However, the feeling of someone lurking was still etched in her mind.
Her eyes turned cold and frown settled on her freckled face. April had a long day at school from being behind in all the work, so she definitely wasn't in the mood for the lurking presence today. Usually, it would disappear after awhile, but today it was pretty persistent.
Frankly, she was tired of her past and all of her experience haunting her, but she knew she would be giving him what he wants by going out and confronting him.
"Creep." In a low disgusted tone, she muttered.
In the end, she decided it wasn't any extra effort, so she went to her room. She wasn't hungry or in the mood for anything else; all she wanted to do was chill out for a bit.
Her room was pretty tidy, other than the school work scattered all over her desk. With her textbooks in hand, she made her way over to it, and sat them down. Afterwards, she walked over to her bed and plopped down, feeling the springs press against her.
A sigh escaped her lips and she laid out on her back. The room was dimly lit from the little nightlight she had. When she was little, she would often get scared at night, now it was there just so she wouldn't trip over anything in the dark.
Still, even in her room and even on bed, the feelings of being haunted, or in better terms, stalked still clung to her. She tried her hardest to ignore it. Clenching her eyes shut, April tried to think about other things, only for the thoughts to drift off to darker places.
Honestly, she missed her father, and deep down she missed her friends. However, he wasn't making a good impression by constantly keeping tabs on her.
Suddenly, she felt the presence moving. Only closer to her. This struck odd to her, because he had always kept his distance. Slowly, it came closer and closer, till there was a dim glow outside her bedroom window.
"What the heck is that?" She whispered under her breath.
Quickly, she pulled her tessen out and hoisted herself to her feet. Every hair on her skin stood up, and a cold chill shot down her spine once more. The glow grew brighter, casting a green hue into her room.
"Do I dare open it?" April asked herself cautiously.
Taking small steps, she went over to the bedroom window and unlatched it. It creaked as she slowly pushed it open.
Her eyes widened in fear and she gripped her weapon tighter, making her fingers turn white. Standing right outside her bedroom window, was a large goo-like mutant. It had organs floating around in it's casing and it had giant glowing green arms. The mutant stared at her with disgusting, beady eyes.
"Great, you're the one that's been stalking me? I swear, even when I'm out, I'm still in!" She shrieked with aggression as she took a step back.
Before she could make another move, she heard a familiar voice. "Timothy, step away this instant!" Donnie cried out as he dropped his staff onto the top of the casing.
April groaned and buried her face with her hands. Of course… As always, everything crazy that happens to her is always linked to them.
She wiped her face and was about to tell them off, but in flash they crashed down to the alley. April ran over to the window and climbed out. Then she gripped the bars and watched the scene unfold. Donnie held some sort of metal container in his hands, while his brothers stood back. However, she stayed quite, because she wanted to listen to their conversation.
"Timothy, remember our agreement? I knew you were stalking people, but I left it alone because you never engaged…Why are you going after April?" Donnie shouted with frustration on his face.
"Donnie…" The glowing mutant gurgled.
"Donnie, what?"
"I…like…" He wailed out, barely comprehensible.
Donatello shifted his weight. It was obvious that he didn't understand his friend, and he shook his head. "Well, whatever it is, you need to come with us. Now!"
It was clear the mutant didn't like that, so he charged towards the four brothers. The ground quaked with each step, and April gripped the bar even harder. Everything happened so fast, and the next thing she knew, the casing lying frozen on the ground.
"What in the heck just happened?" Out of anger, she called to them.
Donnie whipped his head up, his face full of guilt. Instead of replying right that second, he climbed up the escape, so that he could talk to her face to face. However, April didn't like that notion.
"I'm sorry about this April…he was my friend…and a lot happened." He said with an apologetic face.
Crossing her arms, she eyed him while feeling the heat of her fury bubble beneath the surface. "Well, he has been stalking me for a month now. You could have taken care of it awhile back."
Instantly Donnie's face turned red. He made the agreement with Timothy two weeks ago. "Uhhh about that…he wasn't out and about that long."
"Oh, so you're saying it wasn't him the whole time? The only other people I know that can stick to the shadows and hop rooftops are you and your brothers." Her voice sounded cold as she spoke to him.
Then she released a sigh and unfolded her arms. After climbing back over the window, she gripped the panels. "Whatever, you and your brother stay away from me. I'm tired of it!" Once she barked the last word, she slammed the panels close.
Deep down, she felt bad, but she couldn't shake off everything that had happened. She waited a few moments after she felt Donnie's presence leave, before going back to her bed. All she wanted to do was forget and move on.
