INFECTIOUS LOVE; CHAPTER NINE
Melody stood at the kitchen table, lost in thought. It was Monday, which meant work with none other then Mayor Tom Colonic.
He hates me. He totally hates me. I'm going to walk into the office today and he's going to tell me I'm fired. I refuse to go out with him and I lose my job. This is absolutely perfect.
Melody stared into absolute space; her eyes had circles underneath, while her face paled making her aqua blue tone look greyish. Picking up her now cold cup of coffee, she drank it, the cold not bothering her at all.
"Morning, sleep well?" Melody sighed, she watched Leah grab a cup of coffee, a smile plastered on her face. "I guess, you?" Melody said, her stomach churning,
Leah nodded excitedly as she grabbed an apple off the counter. "Feeling alright Melody? You look, well a little nauseous…"
"Yeah, I'm okay. There's something I need to tell you- I, well, in case today is awkward, or if Mr. Colonic seems mad, you uh deserve to know why…."
Leah smirked while eyeing Melody carefully, "Oh, what could you possibly have done?"
Melody played around with her fingers, her eyes staring at the ground, "He may have asked me out on Friday, and I may have turned him down. I didn't mean to, but I wasn't looking for a relationship, and now I know he hates me-"
Melody took a deep breath, she could feel tears welling up in her eyes, but she didn't want Leah to see. She hated when people saw her at her weakest point.
She waited for a calming answer from Leah, but it never came. Melody stood in silence before taking a quick glance at her friend. She watched Leah smirk again, obviously in amusement, before laughing wildly.
"You think he's- Frank, this is precious." Leah gasped for air as she grabbed her stomach.
"I don't get how this is funny, I could lose my job-"
Leah sighed before wiping tears from her eyes, "You are so over dramatic, my god. He doesn't hate you, he's not even angry,"
Melody stood there in shock, "But when I said no, he looked-"
Leah threw up a hand as she cut Melody off, "Ah, he was probably disappointed that you said no, but he wouldn't be mad-"
"Oh and how do you know?" Melody replied bitterly.
"Women in this city throw themselves at him. One girl says no, he can find ten to make up for it. He seems to be pretty much what all women want; he's attractive, rich, powerful and very desirable."
Melody shrieked as she giggled, "Ew, how do you know all that- wait, did you and-"
"No," Leah said bluntly, "I just hear things. Cerebellum Hall isn't really, um well a 'private' place."
Melody cringed at the thought, she hadn't noticed Leah take her cup out of her hands as she continued to stare into space.
"Mayor Phlemming and Tom Colonic are both highly unprofessional when it comes to being Mayor, but the truth is, Tom makes Phlemming look more capable of running this city any day."
Melody nodded slowly, barely even hearing Leah's words, she felt herself tense up as Leah gently pushed her away from the table, "Don't worry about it, put on a sexy outfit and let's go, Ozzy isn't going to wait outside forever."
Melody sighed relief as she let out a small chuckle, "Jones is such a pain. How can you even put up with him?" Melody asked as she took off her tank top and walked into her room, she heard the clicking of Leah's heels follow her as she began to rummage through her closet.
"How do you dress so fast?" Melody mumbled as she took out a pile of clothes.
Leah sighed in annoyance before sitting down on Melody's bed, "All my clothes are one colour, so it's easy-"
"Of course…"
"And Ozzy isn't a pain, he's unique." Melody snorted as she picked up a pair of white ripped skinny jeans, "You're kidding right? Unique, God, you're mental. Jones is an idiot, a pure clown. I never thought you would fall for a guy like that."
Leah watched Melody quickly change into the jeans before eyeing around for a top; she didn't know how to respond. This whole time she thought Melody liked Osmosis, but obviously not.
"He's not an idiot, he's really sweet. You just have to look past his outer personality,-"
"That is pure bull, what you told me when he started hitting on you for the first time was way different then this 'He's really unique, so sweet' crap." Melody mocked as she pulled on a pair of cowboy boots.
"I was young when I said that-"
"It was a year in a half ago…" Leah groaned angrily as she swatted Melody's arm.
"Put on a shirt, unless you want to impress Tom today with your white laced bra." Melody scowled at Leah before finding a low cut light purple tank top.
"Fuck off." Melody mumbled as she threw on the top, and quickly grabbing her black leather jacket.
Leah rolled her eyes as she watched Melody fret over her morning outfit, "What are you going to do with your hair?"
Melody only laughed as she grabbed her brush and threw it into a messy bun, "Scarf or no scarf?"
Leah sighed, "What colour-"
"Cream" Melody quickly answered throwing Leah the scarf, Leah picked it up before eyeing it carefully, "I think it would look cute- now must you wear makeup? You already look fab-"
Melody breathed deeply as she grabbed the scarf and adjusted it against her neck, "Yes, we go through this every day Leah. Makeup is an essential thing."
Melody rolled her eyes as Leah watched her gently apply eyeliner and simple mascara before blotting her face with a small red brush, "What's that for?"
"It's a blush Leah, makes your cheeks pop- Only reason I wear it is because when my mother was around, she wore all this crazy makeup…"
Leah laughed as she regained the memory of Melody's parents, "Your parents were definitely something."
Melody nodded her smile slowly fading as she applied a gloss to her lips, "Well I better call Ozzy, if it gets any later we'll be late."
Leah got up quickly, pulling her short purple dress down in the process, sighing she glared at the beauty obsessive before walking out of the room.
XXXXXXX
Tom Colonic sat in the spacious office, papers covered every corner of his desk, he knew they had to be done, but his mind wouldn't allow him to concentrate.
Sighing a heavy sigh, he glanced at the clock above Leah's desk, his cheeks growing hotter each passing second. Ten minutes, he had ten minutes before the girl that had rejected him would enter the office and take his breath away, literally.
Tom took a deep breath as he thought about rejection, he had never been rejected, it seemed every girl wanted to sleep with him, all but one.
The one he wanted the most.
He thought back to the night where he had been turned down, she seemed awkward when he mentioned dinner, then she claimed she had to work that night.
He gritted his teeth as he thought about that club, his hatred for it was pure, and he knew that for a fact. If it was up to him, he would've torn it down and put up duplex apartments for the populations sudden growth but it wasn't his choice.
For the germs had their own leader, someone who kept all the germs in line with cheap clubs filled with women.
The leader was unknown of course, kept in the shadows is what Tom knew, but from what he heard, this specific unknown was deadly.
Tom groaned as he shut his eyes, focusing on a particular dream.
...
"Dancing- or maybe a dinner," Tom stood uncomfortably once he popped the question, he watched Melody's eyes sparkle as her red hair flowed around.
"How about both, the longer I'm with you the happier I am." Tom smiled as he fixed his tie, "G- great, I can't wait."
Melody winked as bit her lip, carefully swaying her hips from side to side, "I know you want me mayor," walking up to him slowly she smiled a wicked smile before staring him down, "Mm and baby I want you too."
Melody's voice was smooth as she traced her fingers across Tom's chest, "I- I really d- I think we shouldn't do anything Melody-"
Tom staggered as he caught his breath, "We might get caught,-"
He continued as he pushed her off, "But Mr. Mayor,"
Melody whined as she twirled her finger around a lock of her hair, she looked at him seductively before whispering into his ear, "Besides, isn't getting caught more fun?"
Tom stood there fumbling around with his tie before taking it off in a rush, "I'm glad you agree with me daddy."
Melody smirked as she unbuttoned Tom's shirt, stroking his whole chest. Shivers ran down his spine as he grabbed Melody by the waist, he smiled calmly before his mind froze.
He heard voices, and they definitely did not come from his fantasy…
...
"Melody you have too-"
"No I really don't, I'm sick-"
"Would you quit it, get into the office."
"Stop pushing me,"
"Then get in the damn office."
"Leah, you're going to make me trip- LEAH!"
Tom Colonic got up quickly as he rushed over to the corner of the room; zipping up his pants he took a deep breath before examining the sudden crash.
Melody groaned as rubbed the side of her head, Leah smirked as she stepped over Melody's body, her heels clicking across the ground. "Morning sir, Melody broke your door-"
Leah smiled as she nodded towards the redhead sitting on the ground, "I didn't break anything, you pushed me over!"
Melody got up as she brushed off her clothes, "I, um- I can fix it, or at least I'll try." Melody looked down embarrassedly as she cleared her throat, "Sorry."
Tom smirked as he brushed past the two girls, "No it's fine. I'll get someone from the brain cleaning services to clean it up. If you'll excuse me, I need to wash my hands." Tom sprinted out of the office, leaving the two girls in silence.
"Well, that was a great entrance Melody, spectacular even."
Melody gritted her teeth as she continued to fix herself up, "Yeah whatever." She mumbled under her breath before sitting calmly at her desk.
"Want to work on the festival thing?" Leah asked quietly as she walked up to her own desk, her hands filled with papers.
"Yeah I guess- hey I thought of a name." Melody smiled as she wrote something down on a piece of paper.
"Oh, what sort of name?" Leah asked, her voice filled with interest.
"Festival of Frank, get it? It's a festival, and we live in Frank-"
Leah nodded her head in agreement as she typed it in her phone, "I like it."
"Seems too simple though, don't you guys think?"
Melody groaned in annoyance when she heard that voice, spinning around in her chair she faced the door a fake smile plastered on her face, "Roxanna, I do believe no one was talking to you- as a matter of fact you don't even work for the mayor."
Leah sighed heavily as she watched the slim brain cell walk into the office, "Don't make me call security, people like you aren't allowed in Cerebellum Hall."
"People like me?" Roxanna snorted before smiling sweetly, "Oh Leah baby, when you have connections, you're allowed anywhere."
"Who the hell would give you connections to Cerebellum Hall? Skanky reporters are banned from this workplace. I mean brain security couldn't have given you access, considering you've already screwed the lot of them." Melody scoffed, a cruel smile captivated her lips, Leah snorted in amusement obviously entertained by the heated conversation.
Melody turned her head slightly as she continued to smile, her fingers twirling lose pieces of hair, "She's not saying anything because she knows it's true."
Melody faced Leah, who was sitting at her desk, her eyes darting between the two cells. "You know something,"
Melody felt her smile fall as a hand grabbed her shoulder hard and yanked her around, "I hate you Fitzpatrick, and you are still one cold hearted bit-"
"Roxanna, what a surprise." Melody tensed up as the voice spoke up, she watched Roxanna turn around, her face filled with sadness, "Oh Tom,-"
Leah got up slowly as she grabbed Melody's hand and pulled her away from the two.
"Sir," Leah said slowly as she watched the two engage in a quiet conversation, "I do believe that Miss. Cerebra has no right to be here, I can call security if you-"
Tom put up a hand as he pulled Roxanna closer with his other one, "No need for that Ms Estrogen, I granted her access to the building."
"Why?" Melody said loudly, causing all eyes to face her.
"Were together-" The petite brain cell grinned proudly as she glared at Melody.
Tom laughed shyly, "Well that's one way to put it. I must get going ladies; I have a meeting I must attend."
Quickly stepping into the office, he grabbed a navy blue coat and a small briefcase. The three girls glared at one another each speechless, Tom nodded politely when he caught Melody's gaze.
Roxanna kissed Tom deeply before he walked out of the office.
"Looks like I'll be seeing you around, it's going to be so fun." Roxanna said sarcastically as she walked out of the office, "See ya later sluts." She said dryly as she turned her head and blew kisses.
Minutes of silence passed before either of the girls said anything.
It was Leah who broke the silence; she gently tapped Melody on the shoulder, her face filled with smiling warmth. "Wanna work on the festival?"
Melody looked deeply into Leah's eyes and nodded as she walked over to her desk.
She felt like she was going to be sick, why, she didn't know but the one she thought she'd never have to deal with again managed to pop back in her life…
Yay, chapters over! Or maybe that's not a yay...
I hope you all like this new OC Roxanna Cerebra. She is a brain cell, and her last name is Cerebra which is a plural name for Cerebrum which is in the brain, pretty obvious huh. I would've just made her last name Cerebrum, but it reminded me to much of Cerebellum Hall. Now she is a news reporter, or is trying to become one. As Melody stated she seems to be very adventurous with others. You probably won't see her in a lot of chapters, maybe near the end of the story but for now you may just hear her name mentioned.
OH GOD, what the hell is Tom doing with his hands? I'd like to remind all of you that their will probably be no sexual scenes in this story, just various mentions or silly acts like what Tom did, but I will not be going into detail, that's gross.
As another reminder this is an MATURE story, so go right ahead and read, but keep in mind that Mature may mean a lot of swear words as long as sexual and crude jokes. Hope y'all can handle...
...
Melody; I would never do anything with the Mayor, he's like 30. Gross...
Tom; I'm 25...
Leah; Seriously?
Tom; Yeah, we're the same are Ms. Estrogen.
Melody; God you could be 20 for all I care, I still wouldn't do anything with you!
Thrax, Stop being so rude to people princess, nobody wants to do anything with you either.
Ozzy; Thrax you may be hot but your hearts ice...
Melody; I'm rude, seriously? ME? You're the one that wants to kill everything you see yet you call me rude?
Thrax; Don't test my patience baby-
Melody; *snorts* Or what? You'll slice me with your little claw?
Thrax; *Snarls, lights up claw*
Camille Rose; BEEEEP! Technical difficulties folks, see you next chapter!
