A/N: well, I was bored, and I running out of things to say, so I'll just keep it simple, hope you all enjoy the latest chapter.
Legacy of the Alicorn's: chapter 9: new problems surface
Twilight and Rising Star spent the remainder of the night to themselves, after returning to the library, they put all the stuff from their picnic into the appropriate places and went to their rooms, Twilight decided to catch up on some studying, while Rising Star went to bed early, even as she read through the books, she couldn't concentrate, her mind kept wandering to what happened between them earlier, the brief kiss they shared, during that brief moment, twilight felt something surface in her, a feeling that she never felt before, at least not for a pony not in her family.
As her mind kept wandering, she yawned and looked at the clock; she realized it would be good to go to bed, she calmly closed the book and climbed into bed, and turned off the lights, tossing on to her side, she looked up through the window, and saw the moon shining brightly, she sighed and slowly closed her eyes, drifting off into sleep, her mind focused on one specific stallion.
(The next morning…)
Twilight woke the next morning to the usual thing, the sun shining down through the window, the faint sound of birds chirping, she groaned and stretched, extending out her wings, and sighing as she pushed herself out of bed, and calmly walked to the bathroom, where she took a quick shower, brushed her teeth and combed her mane.
She sighed and walked down into the main room, much to her surprise, she found Rising Star standing in front of one of the shelves, skimming over the books, she smiled and cleared her throat, he turned around and smiled, "oh good morning, did I wake you?" he asked nervously, she smiled and came down to him, "no it's okay, just got up myself, where's Spike?" she asked looking around, Rising Star gestured to the kitchen, "in there, making us breakfast" he said, and just as he did, Spike walked out with a bowl in his hands.
"Oh good morning Twilight, hungry?" he asked mixing what appeared to be batter, she smiled and nodded, and turned back to him, "listen…about yesterday…" she said rubbing her hoof, a light blush on her face, Rising Star blushed as well and was about to speak, when they were interrupted by knocking at the front door, "Spike can you get that?" Twilight asked, they waited for a few seconds, they could here Spike open the door, and they heard him come in followed by other hoof steps.
"Um Twilight, look who came to visit" Spike said nervously, Twilight turned around, and much to her surprise, she saw none other than her older brother standing there, a smile on his face, next to him was none other than Princess Cadence, "Shining Armor, Cadence, what are you two doing here?" she asked walking up to him and hugging them both, Shining chuckled lightly, "sorry we couldn't tell you ahead of time, but something's come up, something's happened" he said with a solemn tone, Twilight immediately let go and turned to him.
"What happened? What's wrong?" she asked worried, Shining gave Cadence an uncertain look, but he continued on, "there's been an attack, one of the royal guard bases was attacked last night, they managed to send out a distress signal, we don't know how many survived, the weirdest part is, it's the same outpost that found our friend here, Princess Celestia sent us here to get you, you need to come with us" he said in a serious tone.
Twilight turned to Rising Star that had a shocked look on his face, Twilight sighed and turned to them, "alright, how do we get there?" she asked, Shining merely smiled, "we have the airship just outside of town, we can teleport there, you ready?" he asked, Twilight looked at Rising Star, who nodded, she smiled and nodded at him which made his smile, "okay, get close" he said as they all got close to him, he closed his eyes and his horn glowed brightly and they were gone in a quick flash, leaving Spike alone in the room, he frowned openly, "so I take it, nopony's having breakfast?" he said as he sighed and walked into the kitchen.
(Solar Flare, main flight deck)
After another bright flash, they both opened their eyes and saw that they were no longer in the library, but in the main flight deck of the Royal Guard's flag ship, the Solar Flare, the best ship in the fleet, they all looked around and saw none other than the two Princess's standing in front of them, calm expressions on their faces.
"Princess, what's going on?" Twilight asked, Celestia looked at her with concern, "were not sure, all we know is that the same outpost we found Rising Star at, was attacked, all we received was a distress call, and now it's gone dark, were heading over there to aid any survivors, Rising Star, we need to know, were there any others with you?" she asked turning to him, he looked confused but he thought for a minute, "no…no I was alone that night…unless…"he said slowly, as he brought his hoof up to his chin, and thought, after a minute, his eyes widened in fear, "oh no…" he said in a shocked tone.
They eagerly awaited him to speak, "what is it?" Twilight asked in a worried tone, he turned to her and the Princess's, "there was only one other pony there with me that night…him" he said looking at the Princess's, he watched as their eyes widened as well, "it's Bloodmane, he must have come out of the time freeze shortly after I did, he must have followed my trail to the outpost, this is my fault…" he said as he covered his mouth with his hoof, Celestia looked away and at the Lieutenant, "Lieutenant, arm all side cannons and ready a scouting party, be ready for anything" she said as they flew over the forest.
(Everfree forest, Royal Guard outpost 22)
As they loomed over the forest, they kept a sharp eye out, then as they came across a clearing, they saw the large wooden fence outline of the base's perimeter, but that's not what shocked them, as they came closer, they could see small fires scattered across the courtyard, and flames coming out of the building, they all watched in fear, Shining Armor turned to the Lieutenant, "bring her down next to it, there should be plenty of space" he said, they all waited patiently as the ship descended, they all gathered at the loading dock.
As the ship landed the ramp hissed as it lowered down, "alright, everypony stay close, we'll check it out, keep an eye out for anything suspicious" Shining said through his headset, and turned to Celestia and Luna, "are you sure you want to come, it's not safe" he said, they both looked at him and smiled, "we'll be fine, this is something we must face together" Luna said in a confident tone, as they walked down the ramp, and made their way to the main entrance, and into the courtyard.
As they walked through the gates, words could not describe the horror around them, the place looked like it could have gone through a massive battle, small fires and the bodies of guards littered the courtyard, as they walked through Twilight gasped, "how could anypony do this?" she asked as she walked a little closer to Rising Star, who looked all around, half-expecting for something to pop out, as they came to the center of the courtyard, suddenly Rising Star felt a chilling sensation wash over him, he stopped in place and shook violently.
They all turned to him and saw the scared look in his eyes, "Rising Star, what's wrong?" Twilight asked taking a step toward him, he looked up at her and the others, fear written all over his face, "he's here…" he said as he turned around and much to their surprise, they saw a cloaked pony walking up to them, he stopped a few feet away, and they all turned to face them, Shining took a step forward, but the others remained back, Shining picked up a spear from the ground and pointed it at him, "identify yourself, you have committed terrible crimes against the kingdom of Equestria, and I am ordering you to identify yourself" he said with anger in his voice, the cloaked pony merely chuckled and lowered his hood, which only made Rising Star tremble in fear.
"none of that concern's you Captain Armor, but I had hoped you would have made this chase a bit more challenging, the last five alicorn's all in the same place, it's like my birthday" he said as he smiled at them, Twilight felt fear running through her body, she looked up at the Princess's, they had a calm demeanor, but she could see fear behind their eyes.
As they stared each other down, Rising Star stepped forward, in front of Shining, much to their surprise, Bloodmane merely laughed as he saw this, "well, well, if it isn't my old friend, I see you've made friends, I suppose that's all you could have done, after I killed all your old ones" he said with a sinister smile, Rising Star frowned as his fear turned to anger, "this is between you and me, let them go, this isn't their fight" he said in a calm yet threatening tone, Bloodmane merely laughed, "oh Rising Star, you know I can't do that, I was hoping we could have a nice game of cat and mouse, but if you feel the need to end your life quicker, so be it!" he said as he shot a blast at them, they all dodged out of the way, as it exploded near them, Rising Star turned to the others, "Shining Armor! Get the others out of here, I'll hold him off!" he shouted as he flew up into the air, and shot three blasts at him, which were easily dodged.
Shining turned to the others, "your highness, we need to get you and the others out of here, come on" he said as he started walking, but Twilight resisted, "what? We can't just leave him, we have to help!" she yelled, and much to her surprise, the other Princess's agreed, "she's right Shining Armor, it matters not if we run, he'll catch us, we must stay and fight" she said as she and Luna stood up and walked over to join the fight.
Rising Star landed on the ground, and dodged a blast, after landing on the ground he jumped out of the way of another, but failed to dodge a third, that hit him at full force, he cried out in pain as it sent him flying on to his back, he groaned as she tried to push himself up, but failed and gasped as he saw Bloodmane walk up in front of him, his horn glowing, and an evil smile on his face.
"I was sure you had learned from our last encounter, but I guess you have disappointed me once again" he said as his horn glowed brighter, then out of nowhere he cried out in pain and was knocked aside by a more powerful blast, Rising Star looked and saw none other than Celestia walking over to him, "Princess…you should have left, this isn't the place for you" he said standing up, she smiled at him, "in this time, our kind must help each other, we'll fight this together" she said as they all turned to see Bloodmane stand up, he looked up at them and smiled, and all five alicorn's stood by each other, "well, isn't this interesting, five against one, not exactly fair, but you think you're going to win, you've made a big mistake" he said as he disappeared in a flash, they all looked around in every direction prepared for anything.
Suddenly Cadence cried out in pain as a blast came from behind and knocked her to the side, "Cadence!" Shining cried out as he ran to her side, suddenly another blast came out of nowhere and hit Luna from behind, knocking her out instantly, and then the same thing hit Celestia from the other side, Rising Star ran to their sides, leaving Twilight all alone, she heard a whooshing sound and immediately turned around and saw Bloodmane behind her, she panicked as he took a step forward and smiled, "so, you must be the new Princess, I must say it's an honor to meet you, why you would trade in your pure unicorn form for that of a filthy mix, it puzzles me, you are rather beautiful, it's such a waste, but I can't allow you to live…" he said as he reached a hoof out, but cried out in pain as a large blast hit his from the side, knocking him a few feet away, Twilight watched as Rising Star walked in front of her, anger burning in his eyes, "if you ever come near her again, I'll kill you!" he shouted, Bloodmane groaned as he pushed himself up, he looked up at the two and laughed.
"well, isn't that sweet, that kind of devotion only comes from a pony who has a romantic attraction to another, I never thought you would be one to do that" he said as he stood up, Twilight glanced briefly at Rising Star and blushed, but immediately returned to the situation.
Rising Star took a step forward, "enough of this! We end this right here right now!" he said as he got into a fighting position, Bloodmane smiled, "so be it" he said as he planted his hooves, and his horn started to glow, Rising Star stood there and took a deep breath, Twilight stood to the side and watched in fear, Rising Star's horn began to glow, as he readied himself to deflect his attack.
As Bloodmane's horn glowed, he powered up a very deadly shot and smiled at him, but just as he was about to fire, he glanced over and saw Twilight standing near him, his smiled widened as he quickly changed the shot toward her, time seemed to slow as the powerful blast left his horn and shot straight at her, Rising Star's eyes widened as he followed the shot's trajectory, and saw it was aimed straight at Twilight, he lowered his guard and used his wings to boost himself, as he pushed himself between Twilight and the blast, he extended out his hooves, "nooo!" he cried out, as the shot hit him in the chest, an immense electrifying pain filled his body as he fell to the ground, a large burn mark on his chest, Twilight watched the entire thing with horrified eyes, as he was hit by the blast and fell to the ground and didn't move, "Rising Star!" she shouted as she ran to his side, just as she did Luna and Celestia rose up and looked over, shocked by what they saw, they turned to each other and nodded, their horns started to glow as they rubbed them together, a powerful blast shot out, right towards Bloodmane.
Bloodmane watched with a smile as Rising Star jumped in way of the blast, and fell to the floor, he let out a evil chuckle, and started charging up another spell, as Twilight ran to his side, but he failed to notice the large beam coming at him in time, and he cried out in pain, as it hit him and knocked him back a good twenty feet away.
After firing the spell, Luna and Celestia, connected their horns again and teleported the others and themselves out of there, as Bloodmane pushed himself up, he looked around and was shocked to see them all gone, then he heard the sounds of the airship's engines firing up, he turned to see the massive airship rising into the air, and take off into the sky, he thought for a moment about firing at it, but decided not to, he smiled as it took off into the air.
He chuckled to himself, "so now the game really begins" he said as he started off in the direction of the capitol.
(Solar Flare, medical bay)
After teleporting the others out, they found themselves in the medical bay, Celestia and Luna stood up with a slight struggle, and turned to Twilight who was cradling Rising Star's head, tears brimmed her eyes, Rising Star looked up at her with blurred vision and whispered, "Twilight…I'm sorry" he said before his eyes closed, Twilight gasped as she began shaking him, "no…Rising Star!, help him, please!" she cried out, Shining ran up to them, and put his hoof to his neck and sighed with relief, "he's alive, we need a medic!" he shouted as he ran off, they waited as a group of medic's placed him on a stretcher and went to treat his wounds, they all watched as the ship took off into the air, and headed back to the capitol.
