Well, here we go. Now remember for the next few chapters, forget DBZ as you know it, keep an open mind cause we're going for an interesting ride. :) I'm kinda nervous about this chapter cause I don't know how it's going to be received. I've worked really hard and I really hope you like it. Oh! For the time being, it's going to turn into a Vegeta fanfic for a minute. So yea … Let's go!
Remember: OPEN MINDS!
"This" – Talking
This – Thinking
This – Flashbacks/memories *hint hint* A LOT of this.
Previously on See You Later:
"I know we didn't hit it off very well, but I'm willing to start over if you are." She held her hand out, "Hi, I'm Videl Satan." She smiled up at him and something snapped in his mind. He staggered back, grabbing his head screaming out in pain.
"VEGETA!"
…..
He looked up at Videl, she was staring with tears rolling down her face. She was coming in and out of focus and then her figure faded into a woman with long black hair, black eyes, wearing a long red robe that came off her shoulders with sleeves that ran over her hands, the robe fitted her down to the gold sash that held the robe shut and it flared out. At the bottom of the robe were intricate details of gold flames going along the hem. She glanced down at Vegeta and smiled sweetly.
Vegeta stared in awe, "Vi-Victoria?" and then everything went black.
Chapter 10
Vegeta heard noise before he opened his eyes. His vision was still blurry, but he could make out the lights and people rushing around. He moved his head around to get a better sense of his surroundings and saw that not only was he hooked up to machines and in the medical hall of Capsule Corp, he was strapped down, arms, legs, he couldn't move. What is the meaning of this?! As his vision cleared he saw Bulma standing at his head.
"B-Bulma?" with one hand she grabbed his hand and with her other hand laid it on his head. "I'm here Vegeta."
"W-What's happening?"
"We're not entirely sure yet, but we're working on it now. Just hang on tight ok?" He grunted as he watched the other doctor's type things into computers, writing things down, moving around the room. He turned his head to the right and saw Videl in the corner standing. They held eye contact for what felt like hours but only lasted a few seconds. Then her figure faded into the woman he once saw before. She stared at Vegeta with an apologetic look on her face. She opened her mouth and a slight ringing came in Vegeta's ears as if her voice was coming into focus, "I had to do it." The heart monitor started beeping, the EEG, the machine that monitors brain activity, was off the charts. Vegeta laid back and started to struggle against the restraints. The doctors running around to make sure he stays secure and to look at the data. Vegeta could hear Bulma bark out orders but then as her voice faded out images formed in his mind, images he never seen before and then they stopped and everything went black again.
A little girl no more than eight years old laid in the burnt orange grassy fields staring at the blood red sky far out into the country known as the Out Lands. She was supposed to be practicing her magic for the meeting with the Council, which consists of very powerful sorcerers and sorceresses who have expressed quite an interest in this one particular girl. Ever since she was born, she has displayed extreme amounts of power and they have been keeping tabs on her ever since. This little girl is the Out Lands' first protégée and once a month she meets with the "old humorless gas bags" as she puts it so they can see how her training is going, how much she's improving, and how fast. But unbeknownst to her, the Council plans to use her for a war they have been planning against the Saiyans for a long time.
There was once a time when Saiyans and Saiyan sorcerers/sorceresses aka Sorsaiyans (A/N: I thought it sounded cool..) lived in perfect harmony until the young, new King Vegeta grew envious of their power and feared that they would one day rise up against him and the Saiyans and claim dominance. His first act as king was to banish them from civilization. He convinced everyone that Saiyans were the true Saiyan race that they are warriors, not mystical beings and Sorsaiyans were nothing but outcasts, "unwelcomed fairies". That night, King Vegeta sent his army out to purge the streets of Sorsaiyans. Families were torn apart, Saiyans and Sorsaiyans were fighting in the streets. It was chaos. And ever since then, the Sorsaiyans have been plotting their revenge against the king and his people for their betrayal and the physical and emotional damage they've caused their people.
Here we are, eight years later, with the little girl, Sorsaiyans secret weapon, laying in the fields with her eyes closed as she listened to the creatures and insects, sensing their energies, absorbing the warmth of the sun. She smiled as she felt a butterfly land on her nose but quickly frowned when the butterfly flew away as something or someone blocked the sun. She opened her eyes and saw her 12 year old sister Velma standing above her, hands on her hips.
"Aren't you supposed to be practicing?" she reprimanded.
The little girl closed her eyes, "I am."
Velma frowned. "You've been out here for 2 hours and this," she waved her hands to her little sister's form, "is what you've been doing?! You have a meeting with the Council in 15 min-"
"I'm well aware." The little girl interjected.
Velma clenched her fists, scowling. The little one smirked. She was going to blow up she could feel it coming but it never came. She opened one of her eyes to peer at her sister. Velma just stood there frowning down at her little sister.
"This isn't a joke." Velma said sternly. "The Council are rarely ever this invested in someone and they have been since the day you were born. You have to take these things seriously, Victoria."
Victoria snapped her eyes open, sat up, and spun to stand up in one fell swoop to face her sister with such grace, sorceresses twice her age would spend almost their whole lives to reach that level.
"Why!?" She exasperated. "Why me!? I never asked for this!" She opened her hands and flames shot up high into the sky. Animals ran/flew away, Velma shielded her face as her long black hair flew all over the place. She slowly brought her arms down and stared in awe at the heat and immense power coming from her little sister's hands. Wow. What power.I'd love to have power like that one day. She looked toward Victoria's face. Victoria looked down at her hands with sadness. Why me? Why do they need me so much? What do they want me for? Those old kooks won't tell me anything! I deserve to know! I deserve to choose whether or not I want this.
Her frown deepened. She closed her eyes then her hands and whispered, "I don't want this." Everything was dead silent. They stood there, Victoria looking down and Velma staring at her sister. Poor thing. She looked on in sympathy. She never asked for all of this, she's just a little girl. I can't imagine what's it must be like for a little girl to feel constant pressure from everyone to be perfect. She walked up to Victoria and put her hand on her shoulder. Victoria looked up at her sister with tears threatening to fall. Velma gave her a reassuring smile. She moved her attention to her hair as she tucked strands of her hair behind her ear, grabbed her long black braid and placed it over her shoulder.
"No one knows what they want from you, but whatever it is, just know you're not alone. I'll be right there beside you." Velma grabbed Victoria's hand, "Always."
"Promise?"
Velma smiled, "You can't get rid of me even if you wanted to. Sorry Vicki, you're stuck with me."
Victoria laughed and smiled up at her sister, "Thank you Velms." Velma's smile grew.
"GIRLS!"
Both of them turned their attention to the direction the voice was coming from. Velma turned back to Victoria and gently squeezed her hand, "Come on. Mom made lunch before you have to go." Victoria groaned.
Velma laughed, released her hand and started running screaming behind her, "Race ya!"
"HEY!" Victoria screamed after her quickly catching up.
They ran through the trees chasing after one another laughing. They reached the front yard of their little cabin laughing and panting.
"Beat ya!" Victoria taunted with a smug look on her face. Velma rolled her eyes and pushed her playfully. They made their way into their home.
"Mom, we're back!" Velma called out as they walked through the front door, once Victoria was through, she turned around to close the door and she saw three bags sitting right next to the door. Velma cocked her eyebrow.
"Yea, and I'm starving!" Victoria added. She walked ahead, but was quickly stopped when she felt Velma grab her wrist. She looked back ready to question her until she saw a serious look on her face.
"Velma?" Victoria said cautiously.
Velma slowly walked forward with Victoria still in hand. "Velma, what's wrong?" Victoria asked getting more worried.
"I don't know, but something isn't right." They walked down the short hallway to where the house opened up. Velma looked to her left and saw the living room was ransacked. She gasped. Everything was thrown all over the place. Broken glass, book shelves toppled over, books all over the floor, the chairs were knocked over; it looked like a tornado came through the room. What in the- Velma heard clattering behind her. She turned around to face the kitchen and her eyes widened. All of the cabinets were open and empty and she saw three small bags on the counter, two were stuffed and sealed up tight while the other one was open. Velma and Victoria walked into the kitchen looking around, trying to make sense of what was going on, then out of the pantry closet came a tall, skinny, well-built woman with long wavy black hair that came down to her lower back and was tied up in a waterfall braid. She wore a white puffy blouse with the sleeves coming off the shoulders and ending at the elbows topped with a blood orange corset and a long brown skirt (A/N: Think "medieval peasant" attire). She had boxes of food in her hands and she placed them into the opened bag, stress and fear written all over her face.
"Mother?" The woman's head snapped up and she saw her two daughters with confusion and fear etched across their faces. She stopped what she was doing and ran to her girls. The young mother knelt down so that she was eye level with both of them, she grabbed them and pulled them into a tight hug. When she pulled away she looked into their eyes, the fear taking over, and said, "Girls, we're going on a trip ok?" She gave them her best reassuring smile under the circumstances.
Velma and little Victoria glanced at each other nervously. Their mother gave them a light shake, bringing their attention back to her. "I'm going to need you two to move when I move alright?" They both nodded.
"Good. Now go get your cloaks, we're leaving now."
The mother stood and paced towards the opened bag while Victoria and Velma took off to get their cloaks. In midstride, Velma stopped and turned to her mother, she pulled her cloak over her shoulders and tied it around her neck.
"Mother?" Velma asked. Her mother looked at her and Velma continued, "What's going on?"
Her mother sighed and closed the bag and looked at her eldest daughter, "I'll tell you later Velma. Go. Get your cloak and check on your sister. We need to leave now." Velma gave a short nod and head down the hall into her and Victoria's shared room to see Victoria swinging her cloak over her shoulders. Velma grabbed hers hanging on the hook behind the door, swung it over her shoulders, and tied it quickly and tight. She turned to her sister who looked very scared. She was heaving in and out and seemed to be having trouble tying her cloak. Velma looked at her violently shaking hands, frowned worriedly, marched up to her and wrapped both of her still hands around her sister's slightly smaller shaky hands.
"Hey," Velma whispered softly but didn't seem to shake Victoria out of her daze. "Victoria." She said sternly. Victoria's fear filled eyes snapped up to meet Velma's worried ones but, she seemed to be only worried about her, not the situation, not that horrible, terrible energy. Why? Doesn't she feel it too?! Victoria's eyes wandered and Velma could see Victoria going out of it again and squeezed her hands to bring her back.
"Vicki, what's wrong?" Velma didn't know what's gotten into her sister, she's never seen her this disturbed. Velma's heart sank when Victoria looked back at her. She could see nothing but pure fear in her little sister's big black eyes. What-?
Victoria shakily asked "Don't you feel it Velma?"
"Feel what?"
Tears formed in her eyes and she whispered fearing whatever great force was coming could hear her and strike at that moment, "Something terrible is about to happen, Velma. I can feel it. I can feel it like I can feel you holding my hands. Something is very wrong. Something is coming," her voice started to rise, the tears started to fall and she began shaking again. "It's getting stronger and stronger. I'm scared, Velma. I don't know what to do!"
Velma wrapped her arms around Victoria tightly, shushing her, trying her best to calm her down, "Hey, hey, hey. It's going to be ok. It's just nerves alright?" She felt Victoria nod her head, she let go and placed her hands on her sister's shoulders and looked into her eyes. "Just breathe." Victoria closed her eyes and took deep breaths, each one becoming less and less ragged and calmer. She can still feel the "terrible", but not as strong as before. Velma watched as she calmed down. Why am I so calm?Mother's scared, Victoria's scared… Why aren't I? Maybe because someone has to be strong & I guess that someone is me.
When Victoria's panic attack was over, Velma gave her a small smile, "Good?" Victoria gave a short nod. "Good. Now-" Velma trailed off as she tied her sister's cloak for her. "Let's go." She grabbed her hand and together they walked back into the kitchen.
"Mother, we're ready." Velma announced.
The two little girls' mother came out of the kitchen with their bags, "Me too." She put the bags down and kneeled down to see her daughters, smiled, and place a hand on one side of their cheeks. "My beautiful girls. I'll explain everything once we're safe but, for now, stay close to me." They nodded as she stood up. She pulled her hood over her head & threw a quick smile to her girls then everything happened so fast…
The "terrible" that Victoria felt came back full force and so much stronger than before. She gasped, her eyes widened, scared stiff, all she could do was stare at the kitchen, the direction the energy was coming from. Velma and their mother both now felt it and looked in horror in the same direction as the wind picked up inside their home, things were flying off the wall and all over the place. Lights were flickering out, it was getting dark out, winds picked up, lightning, and all Victoria could do was stare, the feelings she's been having, her fear, what's happening around her, it was so overwhelming she couldn't move, all she could do was stare. And then everything stopped.
"What was that?!" Velma screamed huddling closer to her mother.
Victoria's eyes widened more & her mouth fell agape as a pitch black stream of smoke came from the direction Victoria couldn't keep her eyes off and it grew and grew and grew into a large black, midnight blue, and silver flame. The thing that made all of their skins crawl was not only was the flame silent, but it gave off a chill like no other. Victoria and Velma's mother then stepped in front of them with her hands out to block them from whatever or whoever is coming.
As quickly as the flame came, it then molded and formed into a pale woman with short wavy pitch black bob cut to her shoulders. She wore a black sleeveless, turtleneck kimono that had silver buttons on the neck and it fitted her down to her stomach then flared out and ombred into a dark purple, with a slit up to her mid-thigh for maneuvering and a black cape that pooled at her feet and dark purple lining on the inside and along the edges of the kimono.
This mysterious woman looked around and her eyes landed on Victoria and Victoria suddenly stopped breathing and her heart quickened. Noticing this, the woman's black stained lips formed a wide smirk and her cold black eyes twinkled. Victoria's mother pushed her further behind her to keep her out of sight. The black clad woman turned her attention to the other woman in the room and her smile widened and looked at her with greedy excitement.
"Valrieque," She sized her up and sighed, "It's been too long little sister."
Pushing her daughters back to try to get them to run away, Valrieque glared at her retched sister, "Not long enough, Zeldah."
Zeldah smiled a toothy smile, but nothing good was behind it. Nothing but evil intentions.
Y! This chapter sure did take me a minute didn't it? So sorry for the wait! I didn't necessarily have a writer's block, I knew what I wanted to write it was just a matter of putting it into words… I guess it was a writer's block of sorts. BUT it's just getting started! I might be able to get another chapter in before the end of the year lol. School isn't helping much either but bear with me! THIS STORY IS NOT BEING DISCONTINUED! EVER! Granted there will be long breaks but I'll never discontinue it. Hate it when other writers do that, so I'm not gonna do it to y'all! SO I hope y'all enjoyed that, it's gonna get a lil cray cray! Oh, and for the sake of the plot, Vegeta is going to "remember" things he wasn't even there for so… yea… :D Remember! OPEN MINDS! R&R. Peace. xoxo
