Epilogue

Disclaimer: I do not own Harvest Moon: A New Beginning nor Harvest Moon: Animal Parade. Marvelous Entertainment and Natsume beat me to own Harvest Moon series. The song, "When I Got Home, My Wife Always Pretends to be Dead" by KAITO is not mine. I only own the plot horse (many people use plot bunny, I use plot horse. Objections, anyone?)

5 YEARS LATER

"Ah, going home at last."

I was trudging my way home after another day of work. Tomorrow night is Christmas Eve, so I take few days off. By few days, I mean two weeks off. Since I'm a father of two now, I need to have quality and quantity time with my family.

Just thinking of them bring smile to my face; their smile are enough to brighten my day. Rio and I have prepared gifts for them, we specially asked Rebecca to help us in the process of making the presents. I can hardly wait to see their reaction because I am sure that they will love it.

I was going to step inside the ranch area when I hear a voice, calling my name. Halting my movement, I turn to see Felicity shuffles her way to me.

"What's this, Felicity? You do know I have a wife right?" I jest as she stands before me.

"Oh for heaven's sake, Allen. I'm content in being single, thank you very much. Clement just asks me to give you this." She hands a red and dark green-checkered box with a season greetings card sticking on top of it.

"Well, I'll make sure to thank him later then. Thanks, Felicity."

She nods and goes back to the restaurant, probably to help Clement clean the place up. And with that, I continue my way back home.

As I stand outside; fumbling with my keys, I hear a giggle burst just from the other side of the door. Upon hearing it, I begin to picture the things that will greet me when I step into the abode. Slowly, I open the door and…

There they are, laying face down with their bodies inside a stuffed crocodile doll's mouth.

"Oh look! A crocodile has my darlings in its mouth! How terrible!" I fake a surprised voice to play along with their act. The 'corpses' respond with laughter, but they keep their face down.

"Fear not, the brave king shall save you!"

I carefully pull the stuffed animal and put it aside. Once again, muffled giggle can be heard from both of them. I then continue my act.

"Oh no…It looks like I'm too late… Then I shall do the tickling ritual!"

I crouch and begin to tickle their feet. The muffled giggle is now a loud laughter and squeal.

"D-daddy! Stop it! Hahahaha!"

"Dada! Dadaaa!"

Now that they surrender, I stand up and stride to the kitchen area where Rio has been amusingly watching the whole scene. Surprisingly, those kids don't follow my trail. They're still in the same position when I first came in.

"My quest is now complete, fair queen!" I say; still put up the act, as I give her a kiss on a cheek.

"Welcome home, Allen. What's that on your hand?" She gestures the box.

"This? Well, I don't know it yet. It's from Clement."

Rio reads the card and then opening the box.

Inside the box are chocolates with Christmas-themed shapes. They vary from dark, milk, and white chocolates; all of which look deviously delicious.

"Wow… It's Clement's homemade chocolates."

I can see that Harriet is peeking on us behind those magenta bangs of hers, so I decide to get her attention and pop the dark one to my mouth.

"It taste really good! Let's enjoy it and eat them all, Rio. We do deserve a good chocolate every now and then, don't we?"

"No, daaadyyy! I want ooone!"

She springs up and dashes towards me, leaving his little brother behind. The 2 years old wobbly stands up and teeters his way, following his big sister while carrying the stuffed crocodile that's bigger than him. I make my way to him and pick Aaron up while holding the stuffed on my other hand.

"Dada! Daaaada!"

"Yeah, little man. It's dada! Miss me, Aaron?" I plant a kiss on his chubby cheeks and he squeals happily with his hands clapping.

From my place, I see Rio is handling the bubbly Harriet, who reaches for the box on her mother's hand.

"I want chocolate! Milk one!" She demands as Rio picks one from the box and puts it on her opened mouth.

"So goooood!" she squeals and does a little happy dance.

"Now wash your hand, we're having dinner."

"Okay!"

After dinner, we all sit down on the living room. Harriet is drawing, Aaron plays with plastic blocks, while we watch them play from the sofa.

"Daddy, daddy look!" exclaims the four years old from her seat on the wood floor. I slide down from the sofa and take a seat just beside her. She shifts the paper she's been drawing on to show me her picture.

It pictures the previous event which a 'crocodile' ate her and Aaron.

"I named it: Jambo the Crocodile of Kalabunja Swap!"

"That's a good name, Harriet. You're very creative, aren't you?" I praise and pull her and Aaron to a hug.

"Teehee! Hey Aaron. I wonder how will we be 'dead' tomorrow?"

"Now, I will have to make your mom telling you guys other things than her past antics…"
