A/N: So here we are at chapter 10. At the moment, while I'm typing this, I'm not feeling too hot. Lynn got sick so she went to the hospital so I went with her in case she needed a ride home if they gave her drugs to make her loopy and unable to drive. No need to fear. Our dear Lynn is quite alright. Though I'm sure she'd say otherwise given she feels like utter shit. It's just an upper respiratory infection so she's having to take steroids and junk to get her all better. Needless to say, I accidentally drank from her Whataburger cup (it was after 2am when we left the hospital because she got off at midnight but the girl from the next shift was late by an hour-we got hungry while there and decided to get some food) and so I think I got a mild cold or something. I've had one before but I don't think I have another. Or at least not yet. My head is killing me at the moment. BUT I have to write this (else Lynn might come find me and poke me with a straw till I bleed lol). So here we go.
Immortal-lover14-Here we go. Working on it now; Angel-Of-Life 1990-Sorry for the wait, here it is!; Stuff2Eat-hehe, get ready cause here comes the flipping of the shit on the other foxes' ass lol; luna2121-Thank you. Updating now. And as for working for it…well you'll just have to see ne? So please everyone, read on! Love you guys!
*****IMPORTANT***** Just wanted to let you guys know why it's taken so long for me to update this chapter. Several things have been going on the past two weeks. The first thing going on was my own grandmother was in the hospital, giving me quite a scare. But the good thing is, she is better and is going home today (2/20/14) but will be on oxygen for a bit. The second thing was Lynn's own grandmother. She was in the hospital for cancer and unfortunately didn't make it as of today so I'm dedicating this chappie to Granny Likins. RIP Granny
Previously: "What?" Takai said in shock, while Sesshomaru just looked on in horror. "Yes. That is what the celebration is for. The mating ceremony will begin soon. Tomorrow night, as a matter of fact. So that is why I cannot accept your courting request." 'What?' Sesshomaru thought, his eyes widening in shock. 'Uh oh,' Takai thought to himself, eyeing Sesshomaru. 'Sesshomaru is going to lose it…' Little did he know how right he was.
"What?" Sesshomaru snarled, his beast trying to fight its way out at Furys' words. Takai winced at the very thinly veiled anger in Sesshomarus' voice, knowing without having to look that his eyes were starting to, if not already, bleeding red. Fury knew that he would react that way once he told him what was going on, but he had to say, he wasn't expecting him to react that way. Though he did find Takais' expression pretty funny.
"I arranged for Feara to mate with a male from another clan. As it is, she's way past the age that she should have been mated and had children. Given the circumstances, however, it couldn't be helped. Not only that, her Youkai is pushing for her to find someone. She didn't want to chose, so I had to chose for her," Fury murmured, completely ignoring the vicious growls falling from Sesshomarus' lips. "And who is this supposed mate of hers?" Sesshomaru growled out, his voice deepening even further as his beast clawed its way to the surface.
'Oh, man. Sesshomaru is strong enough on his own when he's not pissed. Pissed and his beast coming out? This is gonna be hell to deal with,' Takai thought to himself, debating on whether he should try to restrain Sesshomaru if he went to kill whoever dared to take Lynn as a mate. Fury shifted in his seat a bit nervously. But before Fury could answer, Lynn decided to for him…in the form of yelling.
"Fuck off, Taka! I can damn well drink however much I want!" Lynn snarled, drunk but not quite drunk enough where she was slurring, shoving through the doorway, Taka and Kurama not far behind her. "Feara, dear…" Kurama said, trying to reason with her, but Taka of the Black Fox clan overrode him. "You are to be my mate, Feara. Not only that, but ladies should not drink as much as you're trying to," he scolded. She merely glared at him. "Feara," Fury said, gaining her attention for a moment. "Oh, I'm sorry, Father, are you talking to me?" she sneered out. "Feara!" Kurama and Taka said in unison, the tension in the room escalating with her arrival. Fury sighed, knowing he probably deserved her cold shoulder.
"We have guests," he murmured, not bothering to correct her tone. Narrowing her eyes at her father, she looked to the people she just now noticed sitting with him, and felt her face shift from one of drunken annoyedness to livid anger. "So sorry to disturb you and your guests Father. I won't be long." She turned towards the added room that she insisted that be added after they got back from the Mating Ball in the West. Takai and Sesshomaru arched a brow at the sudden coldness of the once lively friendly woman. "Did…something happen?" Takai ventured hesitantly.
Fury just sighed and rubbed a hand over his eyes. Taka went to follow Lynn into her room but Kurama stopped him by grabbing his arm, narrowing his eyes at him. "You may be her intended, Taka, but you will NOT go invading her personal space, especially not to argue with her," Kurama said softly, but still threateningly. 'If he so much as steps foot in her room I'll have my plants tear him up so bad he'd wish he was dead,' Kurama thought, his inner Youkai itching to give him a knocking.
Lynn came out a moment later with a bag over her shoulder. Fury arched his brow at the bag, noting the several large bottles of sake in it. "And where are you going, dear?" he asked softly, bracing himself for the likely cold answer. He wasn't disappointed. "Out," Lynn replied icily and brushed past Taka and Kurama. "And where is out?" Taka asked before Fury could. Lynn glared at him. "That, dear Taka, is none of your damn business," she said and stalked out of the hut. He made to follow her but found he couldn't. He looked down only to find vines wrapped around his feet.
He looked to Kurama who merely shrugged. "I guess that answers that question," he muttered while Kurama tried to work on getting the vines to release him. Fury sighed loudly before gesturing to Taka. "This, my Lord, if you haven't figured it out, is Taka of the Black Fox Clan…Feara's soon to be mate." Taka suddenly remembered who he was with and paled. Sesshomaru noticed this and smirked internally. 'So you know who I am. Good of you to fear me for I will be taking your mate from you, filthy fox,' he thought to himself but merely gave Taka a cold glare. "M-My Lord Sesshomaru. Please forgive me," he said and hurriedly bowed. "I was so caught up with my future mate that I wasn't even aware of your presence."
He paled even further when Sesshomaru growled viciously, thinking he pissed him off by ignoring him when in reality he was pissed about him calling Feara his mate. Though of course, only Takai, Fury and Kurama knew the real reason behind it. "This is who was chosen?" Sesshomaru growled out, analyzing the male before him critically. He wasn't at all bad looking, if you like dark haired Foxes, that was. He was just as elfin looking as Sesshomaru, but with darker looks and he didn't have any marks on him, nor did he have pointed ears like Sesshomaru. He had a tail, but it was more like Kuramas' or Furys' than Sesshomarus' own fluffy one that he had over his shoulder.
"Yes," Fury said quietly. Sesshomaru merely sneered. "This Sesshomaru is going for a walk," he said abruptly as he got up and walked out the door. Fury sighed for what seemed like the thousandth time. Kurama finally managed to get the vines off of Taka but before either could say anything, Takai spoke up. "So might this one ask what was wrong with the Lady Feara?" Fury at that point only wanted to go to his stash of sake and drink himself silly for once in his long life. "Feara is…angry…with me," he said instead. "I noticed. However, I was wondering what happened. At the Western Palace, she seemed to be in high spirits."
"I'm going to go try to find Feara," Taka said, deciding to leave his future father-in-law to deal with the visiting Lord. "You won't find her," Kurama said. Taka looked at him with a raised brow. "If she doesn't want to be found, she won't be. She's rather good at that. The only reason I can find her is because, unless she strictly tells them not to say her whereabouts, the plants tell me. And right now, I can guarantee that she won't be found." Taka growled and stalked out of the hut, followed by a tired Kurama. Keeping up with Feara and making sure she didn't kill her future mate was very tiring indeed.
"She doesn't seem to like her chosen mate," Takai muttered quietly. "She doesn't," Fury agreed. Deciding he wanted to be a bit drunk, he got himself up and grabbed one of his bottles from his stash. Sitting back down at the fire pit, he uncorked the bottle and took a swig from the bottle itself before remembering his manners and offering Takai some, who waved his hand, dismissing it. "Feara isn't happy at all with this entire situation. And I'm afraid I haven't helped it much. Since we left the Palace, I've been more or less giving her a cold shoulder. Logically, I understand it wasn't her fault, that it was the heat and her Youkai pushing her, not to mention she grew up in a place that didn't worry about such things, but it's rather hard to accept or deal with. I'm afraid my pushing for her to mate against her wishes also compounded the current animosity between us."
He took another large swig and sighed. "I've gone about this all the wrong way. She's all I have left of my mate, and I want her to be safe." He laughed self depreciatingly. "I know she can take care of herself, but I'm her father and I will always worry for her. It's not something a parent could easily get over." He took a few more long swigs of the sake before putting it aside. "Gods, I wish I could turn back time, take back all the cold shoulders I gave. She would probably be more ok with this if I had handled this better."
"Forgive me for asking, but…are you trying to get drunk?" Takai asked. Chuckling, he shrugged. "It'll mellow me out. Keep me from going crazy during all this chaotic mess. I won't be getting too terribly drunk," he said, already feeling a buzz from the demonic sake. Takai sighed as he wondered what Sesshomaru was up to. Lord knows he didn't need to start anything. 'So much for going the easy way for all of this,' he thought to himself.
Sesshomaru walked along a semi-hidden path, following a vaguely familiar scent. He had been wondering aimlessly when he came across the scent and, curiosity getting the better of him, like always, he followed the scent. He'd been following it for a few minutes now and was well away from the barrier that protected and hid the village. He knew well why they placed it. To protect it from the likes of that bastard Naraku. Thankfully, though, there was no longer any reason to hide the village. But it was always a good thing to keep things hidden, because there could always be someone out there the same strength, if not stronger, than Naraku looking for trouble.
He was rather confused when the scent suddenly stopped at the base of a huge tree. Tilting his head to the side a bit in curiosity, he examined around the base of the tree. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary and when he walked around the tree examining the other sides, he found that the scent ended only at one place. Utterly confused, he went back to where the scent ended and looked up and down the tree. At first all he could see was vines clinging to the tree, but as he looked closer, he could see that while they were all around the tree, they converged into what looked to be the shape of a small house.
Curious, he gracefully leaped from the ground onto the overhanging branch and frowned a bit as he noticed light coming from what looked to be a window that was covered by vines and flowers. Now he was beyond curious. Who would be creative enough to think of something like that, let alone stay there? He couldn't see a door, but then again, it might be covered like the window. Getting closer, he peaked in through the window and was shocked at what he found. It looked to be Feara in her human form, wearing what she had been on the day that he found her. He was surprised that he couldn't catch her scent up here, but the he looked over to the strong smelling flowers, and realized that was why.
And it looked as if she had drunken herself silly with demon-brewed sake. He wondered what she was doing way out here, drunk off her ass and in her human form, not to mention in her human clothing. He went to tap on what little of the window he could see but the vines immediately closed over it, blocking out the light and his view into the house. A bit offended, he stepped back and examined the outside. Not wanting to destroy something she apparently worked hard on, he sighed and jumped back down, deciding to make his way back to the village to talk with Lord Fury.
Lynn stomped out of the village, nothing but getting drunk and finding a way home on her mind. The second she passed through the barrier surrounding the village, she changed into her human form but kept her senses like Kurama and her father showed her. No one other than Kurama and her father, possibly, knew her human scent, and even then, she had learned on her own how to change her scent the slightest bit, so that even they wouldn't be able to find her when she disappeared to be on her own. And apparently it worked, given that not even Kurama had found her, and he had looked the hardest.
She knew why her father was angry with her, and she couldn't exactly blame him. This was his time after all. But he had to understand that she was from a different time as well, and things like sex were nothing to the people of her time nowadays. She respected the ways of this time as much as possible, so why couldn't her father respect the way of hers from time to time? Was it really too much to ask?
She was glad that she had asked Kurama to help her build the extra room once they had gotten back from the Western Palace. Her father didn't intrude on her private space, so she was able to pull out her old clothes from when she arrived and stuff them into a bag that she had made, along with several bottles of demon sake that she had bought off of a few of the villagers. She planned on getting entirely shit-faced, then going back to the valley she had woken up in, to see if she could find a way home back to her time. She didn't know where she'd go if she couldn't find a way home, but anywhere was better than being with a father who was constantly giving her the cold shoulder since the Sesshomaru incident and being forced to mate with someone she didn't care for upon her return.
Following a path that she had deliberately made into one that wasn't entirely visible, she made her way to her secret hide out, where she went when she wanted time to herself. She had started on it before they had left to go to the Mating Ball at Sesshomarus' Palace, but hadn't finished. Once they got back, that was the first thing, aside from having Kurama help her with the add-on to her fathers' hut, that she did. Once it was completely finished to her liking, she planted a few seeds all around the base of the tree and made it grow, trying her best to make it look like it had been naturally grown. She made it look that way up until it got to the lowest branch on the tree, then had it all converge and cover the small tree house that she built herself by hand and grow the strongest smelling flowers possible so that it would completely cover whatever scent drifted out of the house. If anyone smelled anything out of there, it'd only be a trace.
She loved her little hide away. No one ever found her there, and she could do whatever she wanted without fear of judgment, though only her father seemed to judge her lately. Kurama seemed to understand, if only a little bit. She knew she was Furys' only daughter, but really, he didn't have to be so over protective of her. Still, she supposed she could understand. It was just really hard.
She sighed in happiness once she reached it, leaping up onto the lowest branch and walking onto the little makeshift porch, happy that unless you knew what to look for, you really couldn't tell that there was anything there. Feeding some of her Youkai to the plants guarding her door, she smiled and lightly petted the petals of the flowers with her finger tips in greeting. She watched as they happily obliged her silent request to reveal the door and walked in, the vines covering the door behind her before she even closed it.
Setting her things down on the table she made by hand, she began riffling through it, pulling out the bottles of sake and setting them aside before reaching in for all of her clothes from when she first arrived; her black jeans, knee high leather hooker boots, black tank top and white with black spatter button up shirt. She changed into them and frowned at the difference between her old clothing and ones she had long since gotten used to. 'Well, I'll just have to get reused to them,' she thought idly.
Shrugging her shoulders, quickly adjusting to the tighter feeling against her skin, she sat at her table and opened the first of the several huge sake bottles she had brought and tilted the bottle to her lips. Chugging until she felt nauseous, she giggled a bit at her instant drunkness. It had been quite a while since she had been completely shit-faced…and that's exactly what she hoped to accomplish now. What with all the stress her father was putting her under by forcing her to marry someone she didn't even like, she felt she had to do something to take away the stress.
Needless to say, it didn't take her long to finish the first bottle and she set it down on the floor as carefully as her drunken spinning head would allow, giggling, or more like chortling, under her breath as the bottle fell over anyway, despite her attempts to be careful. It wasn't long after she had gotten into the second bottle that she sensed the plants around her hideaway crying out as something, Sesshomaru apparently by the scent that barely drifted in, came across her secret hideaway. Not really wanting to deal with anyone, she muttered under her breath a command that the plants immediately followed, which was to hide her away from him. She caught a glimpse of his startled and somewhat offended face as the vines quickly covered up the makeshift window as he was about to tap on it and whatever else was left out in the open.
She sighed softly as she watched the curious look on his face as she tapped into the biggest flower over the window to see what it saw, watching as he turned and leapt gracefully from the branch and onto the ground, going back towards the village, most likely to confront her father. She hoped he wouldn't reveal her hideaway…that would be rather rude…but knowing him, he probably would not knowing that they didn't know where it was on purpose. Chugging the rest of the second bottle, she hiccupped and set it down, no longer amused when it fell over like the other one even though she was trying to be careful.
Eyeing the third and last bottle, she tried to decide if she wanted more. After a few more moments of thought (though admittedly it was hard to think straight while she was drunk off her ass) she finally decided to just take the bottle with her and leave. Standing on unsteady feet, she grabbed the bottle and wobbled to the door, pushing her Youkai through it to allow the vines to part before opening it. Once she stepped over the threshold, the vines immediately covered the door again without her having to tell them to.
Deciding to take to the trees verses the ground, she began walking as carefully as possible through the branches, having the branches grow into a small bridge as she walked closer to the ones that were farther apart rather than jumping from one branch to the other in her current state. She had gotten a little more graceful with her Youkai, but considering that she was drunk off her ass and still taking random swigs from the bottle, it probably wouldn't have been a good idea to jump cause she was liable to miss.
She smirked as a random thought flitted through her drunkenness. She wondered what her grandma would think of Sesshomaru. Or even her Father or Kurama for that matter. They were all rather hot even though they were demons. She was quite sure, if she hadn't of already married her grandfather and had six kids with him, that she would quiet literally jump any of the three of them, or even any other demons she met. She giggled drunkenly at the thought. But her smile faded as she remembered her grandmother. It had been several months now since her grandmother suddenly died. She missed her greatly. But then, as she thought about it, it was ok, because she was back in the past, which meant that her grandmother hadn't even been born yet.
She smiled and continued on faster. It wasn't long before she noticed that she had gone most of the night walking through the trees, and it was nearly daybreak. She wondered if she was any closer. She jumped down for a moment and looked around. Surprisingly, it did look familiar. It was the exact small clearing where the cave was that she stayed in with Sesshomaru watching over her. She smiled a bit, picturing the memory exactly. She continued walking on the ground, knowing that she wasn't far from where she first started all this mess, occasionally taking swigs from the nearly empty bottle of sake.
She scowled when the bottle was empty and stuck it in her empty bag, though she was wondering what she should do with it. She guessed she'd just leave it in the clearing if she was able to go back home. She hiccupped drunkenly, stumbling towards the clearing where she woke up, crinkling her nose at the awful smell of the dead demon that she killed months ago, carefully avoiding it as much as possible so that she wouldn't step in it.
Finally she made it to the clearing, the sun's rays lighting it up brightly. She smiled, tears gathering in her eyes as the place reminded her so much of home, where she was accepted for who she was rather than her actions. She loved her father and Kurama dearly, as well as all of the villagers of the Silver Fox clan, but she wanted to go home. She wanted to be herself without worry about it causing problems for other people. She wondered if she'd be missed. Sighing, she sat down in the field, praying and sending out waves of her Youkai in hopes that it would open whatever portal that brought her here and send her back home.
"You've found her, My Lord?" Taka asked, near frantic. Sesshomaru merely glared. "My Lord, could you please direct us to her? She needs to get some sleep for tomorrow." Sesshomaru growled, his eyes turning a bit red. Taka backed up in fear while Kurama, Takai and Fury just looked at him expectantly. When no answer was forthcoming, Takai nudged him. "Sesshomaru," he said softly, meeting the frigid gaze with no small amount of nervousness. After a moment of staring, Sesshomaru turned to Taka. "Leave," he snarled out. Taka made quick work of vacating Furys' hut. Sesshomaru snarled viciously at the cowardly fox, poison hissing at his claws. 'I will NOT allow that wretched fox to even touch my mate,' he snarled to himself, feeling his beast agree with him.
"I found her out in the forest, not far from the barrier. She has apparently built a little hideaway within the trees. I stumbled across it by accident. However, she didn't seem to want to be bothered, as she blocked me out before I could even attempt any sort of conversation with her. Not to mention she was completely drunk and in her human form, wearing the same thing that she was wearing when we first met," Sesshomaru said, not really wanting to reveal her location. Kurama and Furys' eyes widened as they finally realized why they couldn't find her before now. Because they weren't looking for her human scent, they were looking for her demon scent. Then something clicked within their minds at the same time, causing them to gasp and look at each other.
"You don't think…?" Kurama started only to stop short as Fury flew out of the hut. "Uncle, wait! You don't know where to go!" "Did I miss something?" Takai asked as he followed Sesshomaru out of the hut, going in the direction Fury and Kurama went. "It would seem that the Lady Feara is going to try to go home," Sesshomaru said softly, a sharp pain making itself known in his chest at the knowledge. He growled softly as he resisted rubbing his chest. "Going home? I thought this was her home?" Takai said, utterly confused. "Have you forgotten, Takai, that Lady Feara is from another time? Sent there when she was a child and raised amongst humans? I believe that she wishes to return there, given that she was in her human form and in her old clothing."
Takai looked shocked, not wishing to see his friend in pain, which even he could see, let alone have Feara gone. He had grown rather fond of her, like a little sister in a way, and it upset him that he couldn't do anything to stop it. Takai growled softly, clenching his fists. "If that is the case, then we must hurry," Takai snapped out, allowing enough of his Youkai to pour from him to allow his dragon wings to sprout, an iridescent black in color. Sesshomaru nodded and allowed his cloud to gather at his feet, shooting into the sky, Takai not far behind him.
Lynn screamed loudly again at not being able to return home. "Why won't you let me go back?!" she screamed at the open sky above her. "I want to go home…" she said, much softer and more dejected now. The alcohol didn't help her depression much, though she wished that she had another bottle to drink from. She wasn't sober by any means, but she wasn't as drunk as before either. She dropped to the ground unceremoniously, covering her face with her hands, infuriated at the tears that were beginning to stain her cheeks from frustration and sadness.
She remained that way for a bit, before finally collapsing over onto her side, hugging herself tightly as she fell into drunken sleep, unaware that anyone had noticed she had left or that anyone was coming for her.
Sesshomaru and Takai flew as fast as they were able without losing Fury or Kurama, though Sesshomaru was quiet sure that Kurama knew exactly where he was going. However, when he caught Feara's scent on the wind, he quickly left Takai, Fury and Kurama behind and darted off towards her scent, fear spiking him as he smelled a rouge demons scent on the wind as well.
Moments later, he reached the clearing, his eyes flickering over it before finally landing on an unconscious Feara, curled into fetal position and tear stains on her face, oblivious to the feral panther demon that was slowly creeping up on her unsuspecting form. Obviously, the panther didn't sense or smell him, or was too far gone to care, as he steadily crept forward. Sesshomaru snarled, and quick as lightening dropped down between Feara and said cat, baring his fangs at him. The panther merely snarled, uncaring of who the demon before him was and leapt. A mistake on his part really, as he soon realized, finding himself in several pieces, slowly melting from the outside in from Sesshomarus' poison whip.
Crinkling his nose in disgust, Sesshomaru turned on his heel and headed towards the sleeping female, his eyes taking in her pained features and felt a twinge of regret that he was part of the reason that she was in pain. Sighing softly, his beast whimpering in his head, he knelt down and scooped her still form into his arms, cradling her close to his chest after allowing his tail to wrap around her, to both keep her warm and to protect her from his hard armor. After a few moments of staring down at her, he turned yet again and headed back towards Takai, Kurama and Fury. He could only hope that he would be given another chance to win her heart. Regardless, he knew he couldn't allow her to mate with that coward that called himself a fox.
A/N: Eeek! Don't kill me! I know it's been like..what? Weeks? Since I updated. Lynn has been repeatedly bugging me to update. It's not that I didn't want to. Just that with everything that was going on, I just hadn't felt up to it. But I've finally finished it. Though I was hoping for a longer chapter, but that's ok. I guess it will be longer or shorter depending on how the chapter turns out. Let's see…coming up…Sesshomaru goes postal, though I won't say why…Fearas' mating ceremony gets called off…uh…well I haven't decided the rest yet. Guess it'll be a surprise for me too lol as I'll more than likely think of it while writing it. Please please please don't give up on my story. I promise that I will finish it, though I'm not sure how long between each update, but hopefully not like a month. Thank you all my lovelies! MUAH! Also, thank you takininja13 for your review! There's more wrath to come
