This will be considerably shorter than most. I have struggled for some time with this chapter, I hope you enjoy and that it isn't too confusing! Enjoy!
Harry and Ginny ambled through Diagon Alley the Thursday before Ginny's birthday. They had been all over and yet they only managed to buy her school robes. They had visited Quality Quidditch Supplies and the apothecary, but she hadn't picked up any of her supplies. Ginny had been made Quidditch Captain only Mrs. Weasley didn't seem to think that was nearly as impressive as a Prefect badge. She hadn't even considered rewarding Ginny with a gift as she had done the boys when they had achieved Prefect status. Ginny however was extremely proud, Quidditch Captain meant being in the face of every major recruiter in Britain and was a sure way of getting to her dream career of professional quidditch player. Her old broom however, was not going to get her any real attention. The old Shooting Star was about to fall to pieces. She and Harry had both looked longingly at the newest broom on the market. It was called the Star Dust. Its handle was made of beautiful, sturdy oak; its tail was perfectly trimmed, and it was well beyond any amount of pocket money she could ever hope to afford. All the new brooms were out of her pocket money range if she was being honest with herself.
Ginny steered Harry towards Flourish and Blotts. She did have to at least pick up her books for the following year. "You go on, I've got to run and check something. I'll be back before you can pick all the books out." Harry kissed Ginny on the head and watched her enter the store before he turned on his heel and headed back to the other end of the Alley.
Ginny walked into the brightly lit store and glanced at her book list. Luckily she had most of the requirements and only needed a few more. Quickly skipping through the aisles, she made her selections and was headed to the checkout when a familiar face caught her eye. Cho Chang was two aisles over. Oblivious to Ginny, she was reading a passage from a book she had pulled from a display. Without hesitation, Ginny marched over to her and knocked the book from Cho's hands. Ginny was considerably shorter than Cho, but she had no problem getting right up in her face and backing her up against the wall. When she finally spoke, she was quiet, deadly calm, and apparently ready to tear Cho limb from limb. "Let's get something very clear. Harry and I are together. You are not a part of that. You are to stay away from him and our relationship. He and I will be together until the end of days and it will never, I repeat, never include you. If we host an event, you will not invite yourself. You are not welcome at the Burrow. You are not welcome in any home we may ever have. Stay away from Harry. Stay away from me. Stop throwing yourself at a man who wants nothing to do with you. It's cheap and it's pathetic. Now have I made myself clear?" Cho didn't respond. She seemed ready to spit in Ginny's face when the front door opened and Harry walked in. He scanned the room looking for Ginny as Cho ducked around the display and off to a far corner. Her eyes were already brimming with tears. Ginny quickly picked up a book in an attempt to appear busy. He gave her some rambling excuse of thinking he'd lost her book list to which she simply held it up before accepting his case.
Once he reached Quality Quidditch Supplies, Harry called the proprietor over to make his selections. Harry paid the man and requested he deliver his selections directly to the Burrow, along with a quickly scribbled note to Ron asking him to hide it all before he got home. Harry hurried back to the bookstore. He found Ginny in the back of the store looking at a selection of transfiguration books that were not required but highly suggested. "I'm sorry. I thought I had dropped the shopping list back at the last store. I got all the way there to realize that you had it with you." He kissed her and turned his attention to the shelf of books. She looked at him with a glimmer of disbelief. She seemed agitated but not exactly at him. He held her books as she made her selections and dutifully carried her packages as they left the store. They had successfully made it through an entire trip in Diagon Alley without an attack. Harry considered it a good day with the woman he loved.
