A few weeks later, Holly, Gail, Steve, and Traci were on a double date using the tickets to the 'brew your own beer' bar and restaurant place that Gail had gotten for Valentine's day.
"I'll have a burger, no tomatoes." Holly ordered as Gail looked at her strangely.
"You love tomatoes." Gail stated as Holly just shrugged.
"I know." She replied simply as Traci and Steve just smiled.
"Thanks for inviting us along, learning how to brew our own beer should be really cool." Steve said with a smiled as Holly smiled back.
"Yeah, Holly made me invite you." Gail said, wincing as Holly elbowed her in the ribs. "I mean, we're glad to have you." She said slowly as Traci hid her smile behind her hand.
"I have a question for you, Holly." Steve said with a smirk.
"What's up?"
"How do you put up with my sister? I mean, honestly. You have a MD and a PhD and you're stuck with her? Also, how have you not killed her yet? I'm sure you can wield a scalpel like the best of them." Steve said as Gail shot him eye daggers.
"That's enough out of you, Steven. See, this is why we should've invited someone else." Gail said to Holly, as the brunette just smiled.
They all chatted for a while until the food came and they all dug in. After Gail finished one of her tacos she eyed Holly's burger hungrily. The brunette had eaten about half of her burger and was in the middle of a conversation with Traci about her friend who had gotten married recently.
The brunette handed her plate to Gail as the blonde perked up and slid her plate to Holly, the brunette never stopping her conversation with Traci.
Traci and Steve shared a knowing look before they all continued to talk.
Gail had just taken a bite of the burger when she looked over at her girlfriend with a smile.
"This is why you ordered no tomatoes isn't it?" She asked as Holly nodded obviously with a grin.
"That would be why, Officer. You do this every time you get tacos. You eat one and then you always want whatever I have. And since you're allergic to tomatoes, I figured I'd just skip a step."
"You're so smart." Gail said quietly and honestly as Traci smiled happily at Steve, loving seeing her friend so happy.
"So have you guys found a place yet?" Traci asked as they all sat back with a beer.
They had spent 2 hours learning how to brew their own beer, and did, but would have to come back in a few weeks to bottle it and pick it up.
"We have actually. We finish signing all the paperwork on Tuesday." Holly said with a huge smile as she looked at her girlfriend, who was also smiling.
"Yes, after that we will be homeowners. Well kind of. In like a million payments, we'll be complete homeowners." Gail said with a smirk.
"So where is it? And what's it like?" Steve asked, happy for his little sister.
"It's about 10-15 minutes away from the station and morgue. It's absolutely gorgeous. It's a big white house with a porch and a blue door. We decided to go with a one story house so we didn't have to always deal with stairs."
"Well I'd love to see it." Traci said sincerely, happy for her friends.
"Definitely. There are four bedrooms and 2 and a half baths and it's got a nice big yard with some really great tree house material trees." Holly said with a smile as Traci raised an eyebrow at Gail.
"Four bedrooms? Am I sensing Stewart-Pecklings to be thrown into the mix at some point?" Traci asked excitedly.
"Probably just me switching from room to room when I get in trouble and get kicked out of the master bedroom." Gail added slowly as Holly nodded and shrugged in agreement.
"But yes, the potential for platinum blonde children is there." Holly said with a face-shattering smile.
"Hol-this color is not natural. So there's no way it would be passed down to our kids." Gail said feigning seriousness.
"You're such a smartass." The brunette said, shaking her head happily.
"Also, why did we decide on me having the kids all of the sudden?"
"Because I'm four years older than you." Holly stated with a smirk.
"Oh, right. What a cradle-robber." The blonde said dryly as everyone laughed. "You've got time to get knocked up though." She added.
"Well, when you say it like that, how could I not want to?" She asked as Gail shrugged with a smirk.
"Uh, I feel like the Holly Stewart gene should be passed on instead of the Gail Peck gene." Steve piped up from across from Holly.
"Why is that, big brother?"
"Can you imagine three little Gail's running around? You'd have your hands full with those little terrors. Holly is much more pleasant." He said with a smile.
"Yeah, but they'd be so cute. And they'd definitely steal my heart." Holly gushed as Gail smirked and raised an eyebrow at her brother.
"I'd just like to add something; this body does not want to be the holder of kids, especially because I get injured so much or shot at. I feel like that's not a good incubating children environment." Gail stated. "Plus, our kids need to have your intelligence."
"Well you better stop getting injured so much and shot at all the time, because I really don't care for it."
"Let me know if you two need help moving though." Steve offered up as Traci nodded along.
"Thanks. I think we'll be packing up everything this week and then moving everything this upcoming Saturday. Chris and Dov said they'd help, and so did Oliver. So it shouldn't take too long if we all do something. And it's only about 10 minutes from our place now." Gail added as she looked at Holly who nodded happily.
"I can't believe that this is ours. It's an incredible feeling, isn't it?" Holly asked her girlfriend who nodded her head strongly.
"It really is. How about we take another look around?" She asked, holding her hand out for Holly's.
They had just finished signing all of the paper on Tuesday afternoon and had been handed the keys.
"So I ran by and got lots of paint swatches at the store and I was thinking we could decide on room colors now and paint now that way we don't have to worry about all of our stuff potentially getting paint on it."
"Uh, why are you so on top of things always?" Gail asked jokingly as she brought Holly in for a kiss.
"I love you, cop." She said fondly as Gail smiled brightly.
"I love you too, lunchbox." The blonde replied happily as she kissed Holly again.
"Alright, paint colors!" The brunette said excitedly.
By Thursday evening, Gail and Holly had finished painting all of the rooms and had cleaned and vacuumed everything in the house, so that way all they had to do was bring in their stuff.
It was a lot of time and work, but it worked out well for both of them since all the paint would be dry by the time their stuff arrived on Saturday.
They had also been starting to pack things up at Holly's place and Gail had spent a few hours packing up her room at Casa Peckstein-Diaz. Chloe had decided to move in, so she would take over Gail's rent and they would just use her old bedroom as a guest bedroom.
Needless to say, between work and getting ready for their new house and move in date, they were exhausted and not getting much sleep at all.
However, Gail was pleased that they found a place so quickly, because they will have spent their first week in the house by the time their anniversary comes around. That means that when Gail agrees to get a dog, they'll be able to pick one out whenever they want and won't have to wait.
The blonde had been doing lots of research about the best kind of dog to get for the two of them and she had found the perfect breed, she just had to convince Holly of that.
And she would, on their anniversary.
