-Len's POV-
I wonder why she didn't answer... Well, it's probably earlier in the states. I'll call her again tomorrow. Len's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by his mother's pestering questions.
"Len, I understand that you did quite well during your concerts with Kanazawa-sensei?" She asserted, taking dainty sips of her miso soup.
Len, swallowing a chopstick full of rice, somberly replied," I suppose so. What of it?"
He questioned, realizing by his father's forced silence, and mother's sudden brimming tone, she had ulterior motives.
"It's nothing serious–"
Here we go...
"Well, this summer, there's going to be a large festival in Kyoto. It's sort of a tradition, and they've asked me to play a piece, and I've agreed."
Len raised an eyebrow," That's wonderful mother, but what of it to me?"
"You see... I'll be an accompaniment to a string quartet. And I was wondering if you would be interested?"
I knew it. Len shot his mother a tired expression," Mother, you know how I feel about–"
He was interrupted by his mother's abrupt attempt to appease the situation," I know. But darling, summer is still 7 months away. I was only bringing it up in case you changed your mind." She finished precisely, dabbing the edges of her mouth with a napkin.
Seeing that his mother was intent on the situation, he decided to pacify her, only to buy some time to think. "I'll give it some thought, alright? I'm going to bed now, excuse me."
His mother flashed a satisfied smile, and began grabbing the plates. "Fufufufu ~ "
"Momoka... Try not to pressure him too much, alright?" The quiet, worrisome father sighed.
"Yes, yes. But I have a feeling the next few months will bring good things!" She answered, basically disregarding his words.
Len perched himself on top of the bed, grabbing his cell. No new messages. "Haah..." He sighed, placing it down once more on his night stand. He closed his eyes, as flashes of her came to mind.
-Haruka's POV-
"EH-HEM!" Saya cleared her throat loudly, popping up from behind the wall.
The two embracing teens quickly separated, Ron looking the most flustered, as Haruka looked to the side, embarrassed that Saya had seen.
Saya, always drawn to drama, pouted and complained," Hope I'm not interrupting you two love birds ~"
Ron's cheeks flushed deeply," SHUT IT SAYA!"
Haruka raised her hands in a sort of peace making gesture," Alright, alright. It's nothing. Is the pizza here, Saya?"
"Eh? No. I just came because your phone was ringing," she tossed the phone to Haruka nonchalantly. "I think it was from someone named Tsukimo–"
"HAH!" Haruka gasped, casing both Saya and Ron to look at her in surprise.
"W-what?" Saya questioned.
"Why did he call? I just got to America... Oh no.. Did something happen? What do I do? What do I do?!" Haruka panicked.
Saya grabbed her shoulders," Calm down! Is it that guy you were telling me about before?"
Haruka nodded frantically. "I didn't pick up! Because I was–" her eyes drifted to Ron's, as they both averted eye contact, blushing. "A-anyway! What do I do, Saya?"
"Hm.." Saya had a mischievous smirk, and recited in a poor imitation of Haruka's high pitched voice," Oooh Tsukimori-kun! Daisukiiii desuuuuuuuuu."
Ron looked confused, 'Daisuki desu'?
Haruka's face flashed hot pink, and she furrowed her brow," Seriously Saya! I made a promise to myself that we'd work on ourselves so that when I come back, we could..." She paused, remembering she hadn't shared this piece of information with the others. "Anyway, waaaah! I'm so confused!"
Ron looked at her worriedly, obviously curious of this Tsukimori- kun.
Saya sighed," Look. Just let it be for tonight, and tomorrow, call him. But act normal! That way there's no awkwardness." Haruka thought for a moment, as if contemplating Saya's advice.
"Alright.. Yeah! Good idea. I'll just get settled in for tonight."
Ding Dong.
"Ah! Pizza's here!" Haruka stated, running to the living room.
"What's wrong? You're unusually quiet." Saya asked noticing Ron's solemn look.
Ron had an irritated tinge in his eye," Who is Tsukimori-kun, Saya?"
He asked seriously. Saya grinned," What, jealous?" Noticing that his look didn't change, she sighed, and plopped onto Haruka's bed, placing her hands behind her head. "Some hot new beau she met in Tokyo." She answered bluntly.
Ron felt his heart pang, as he looked down, twiddling his fingers.
You idiot.. Always overly depressed for Haru.. "Don't worry about it. It's nothing serious. She told me she was just worried because she admires his violin skills, so she didn't want him to feel like she was ignoring him."
"So that's it! Hah. That's so like Haru." He instantly lightened up.
Saya turned on her side, idiot Ron..
"Pizza's here guys!" Haruka called from downstairs.
Saya immediately changed her attitude, hopping up like her normal self," COMING ~" she yelled running downstairs, followed by Ron.
Just as the three were about to dig in, the door clicked, as Allan, Sandy, and Jeremy entered. Haruka, in mid bite, met eyes with Sandy, unsure of how to react. "Oh! So the cradle robber and the teeny bopper have returned!" Haruka commented in Japanese, continuing to chew.
Jeremy's eyes widened at her rude comment, as Saya chuckled, Ron cluelessly continuing to eat.
Sandy smiled warmly, placing her expensive fur coat on the rack," Ah, good evening Haruka! Is that another Japanese greeting?"
"Actually–" Haruka was ready to retort rudely, and wipe the stupid smile off her face, when Jeremy intervened.
"Why yes it is, Miss Sandy. Please have a seat." Jeremy calmly directed.
Damn Jeremy.. Haruka pouted.
Allan sat down gingerly, tired from the day's events. "Sayaka, Ron, you should finish up and head home. You all have school tomorrow, and tardiness shall not be tolerated just because I'll be returning to work." He stated firmly.
"Don't worry, dear. I shall make sure Haruka attends promptly." She smiled reassuringly.
"I know she will, under your responsible guidance, my love." He replied sweetly.
"Blech." Haruka stuck her tongue out, looking disgusted, drawing attention to her.
"Dissatisfied with the pizza, Miss Haruka?" Jeremy smiled earnestly, however his eyes were obviously warning her, causing her to settle down.
"Pfft. Alright Mr. Nakayama! We'll be leaving now then," Saya answered, gesturing Ron to follow.
"Oh, I'll walk you guys out!" Haruka called.
"No need. You need to unpack, and be prepared for a hardcore day at school tomorrow, after all you've missed!" Saya teased, exiting with Ron.
Haruka stood up," I'll be excusing myself now. Good night," she began to walk away.
"Haruka, would you like help unpacking?" Sandy offered kindly.
"I'm fine," Haruka replied not even turning around to acknowledge Sandy's offer, continuing to her room.
"O-oh.. Alright." Sandy eased back into her seat, feeling dejected. Allan placed his hand on Sandy's," It'll take some time, but she'll get there," he reassured, Sandy grinning slightly.
"It sure feels nice to have Haru back.." Ron exasperated, feeling the cold air through his hair.
"It is. We can go back to being the three of us again!" Saya replied, waning slightly. "Hey, Saya..." Ron stopped walking, standing firmly.
"What?" She turned around, chuckling a bit and his change in tone.
"I'm thinking about telling her tomorrow..." He continued walking, as if nothing happened.
Saya's eyes widened, feeling a slight twinge. "Telling her what?" She asked purposely oblivious. "Hah.. Indeed." He looked very comfortable, and had a look of sadness and anxiousness.
*1 day later*
"It's great to see you again, Haruka!" "You look so pretty!" "Wow, you've grown taller!" The slightly familiar faces crowded Haruka.
"Ah.. Uhm yeah! Thanks!" She brushed them off subtlety, not used to the over familiarity of Americans. "Ah, Saya! Ron!" She beckoned them over to her, running towards them.
"I see you're still quite the celebrity!" Saya teased.
"Well, I don't really care about them! Haha, but it's good to be back. That reminds me! Saya!"
"Hm?" Saya looked at her curiously. "Today's the day I make the call right?" Haruka asked anxiously.
Saya looked over to Ron, searching his face for any wavering expressions. Finding none, she answered enthusiastically," Yep! You ready? Remember, act normal!"
Haruka looked comedically concentrated," Normal... Yeah, got it!" She had her fists clenched as if preparing for combat.
"Uhm, Haru.." Ron interjected shyly.
"Yeah Ron?" She asked casually.
He cleared his throat, looking to the side a bit, his cheeks slightly flushed," Uhm.. Can I uh.. Talk with you for a bit..? Alone."
Saya's mind went blank, So he's really gonna do it.. "Hey guys! I have to Uhm.. Retake a test in chem! Catcha later!" She suddenly hugged Haruka, swiftly reaching into her back pocket, and took off towards the science classrooms.
"Wait Saya–.. Well she's gone." Haruka looked a bit stunned by Ron's sudden seriousness. "Sure thing Ron! Let's go over there!" She pointed to the back of an empty classroom.
Ron swallowed wholly, and nodded, following behind her. "Ok.. Well Uhm, what did you wanna talk about?" Haruka asked curiously.
I think they're around here somewhere... Saya raced through the student-filled halls, and spotted Ron and Haruka behind a classroom, through the windows. There! She quickly went into the classroom, shutting the door, and knelt below the window.
"You see.. Ah.. Uhm.." Ron stuttered, struggling to force out the important words he so wished to tell her.
Ron... Saya reached into her bag, and pulled out Haruka's cell she had snagged earlier. Aghhh.. What should I do?! Saya's fingers trembled, as she unlocked the phone, and scrolled through Haruka's contacts.

Haruka placed her hand on Ron's shoulder," You okay Ron..? I mean you don't have to say it if it's too hard for you.." She explained puzzled.
Ron grabbed her hand, and stared intently in her eyes," No.. I have to say this.."
"Eh?!" Haruka blushed a bit.
Saya shut her eyes in uneasiness, gently pressing the send button. -dialing- .. "Hello? Haruka?"
Saya placed a hand over her mouth, at her actions.
-Len's Pov-
She did call didn't she..? Maybe I should hang up– wait, I hear voices in the background!
"W-what do you mean, Ron..?" Haruka stuttered, feeling flustered at the close proximity between their faces.
Who's Ron? Len wondered continuing to listen, despite knowing it must've been accidentally dialed.
Ron placed his hand on Haruka's cheek, his eyes unwavering," Haruka.. I love you."
Love...? What? What's going on? Len thought frantically.
Haruka's eyes became wide with embarrassment, mind going blank from shock. "R-Ron.. I xxxx .. You .. You're special to me.. And xxx–" the connection became rough, as certain words were cut out, and finally the call ended.
What have I done.. Saya thought regretfully.
-Haruka's Pov-
Ron loves me..? This can't be real! A frenzy of emotions were running through her head," Uhm.. Like I said.. I'm sorry Ron. You're like a brother to me... And Uhm.. There's someone.."
"Someone...? Is it Tsukimori-kun?" He asked bluntly.
Haruka blushed furiously and looked down, nodding. I'm the worst..
Ron placed his hand on her head, patting gently," Don't worry Haru. You're a great girl, so it'd be impossible for you to not have met someone in Japan. Haha, don't worry about me! I'll be okay, just keep smiling like you always do."
Haruka felt her heart ache, and pulled Ron into an embrace. Thank you Ron..
Saya stood up, and walked outside to meet the two, as the bell rang signaling class. "Hey guys! Have a nice chat?" She asked pretending to not have heard.
Haruka's eyes were a bit pink, showing she had been crying, and Ron just looked dejected.
"Yeah! Heh, retake that test, Saya?" Haruka wondered.
"Oh! Yeah.. Uhm, nah. Old man Lloyd wasn't there. So I'll do it at lunch." She remembered her lie just in time. "And Uhm, you dropped this! I wanted to give it to you." Saya explained, handing Haruka the cell.
"Hm? Oh thanks! I need to head over to homeroom and ask the teacher about what I missed. Catch you in second period!" Haruka said, walking off. I wonder when I dropped my cell...
"You alright, Ron?" Saya began walking, not making eye contact with him.
Ron smiled weakly, "Ah so you could tell. Yeah, I'm alright. I knew it wouldn't be easy to switch gears from friends to lovers... But it hurts a lot more when you actually here it, heh." He clicked his tongue pitifully.
Saya smacked his back to lightened the mood,"Hey! Don't give up! It'll be fine! You can get her if you keep trying."
Ron turned to Saya, smiling," Thanks Sayaka." He looked into her eyes earnestly, and continued to class.
Saya stayed behind for a bit, putting her hands to her face, ugh. I really am an idiot... "Wait up!"
-Len's Pov-
"Tsukimori, you heading home now?" Kanazawa asked between a yawn.
Len clasped his phone, tuning out his surroundings. I didn't know she had a boyfriend.. Well I suppose it's to be expected. But still– why do I feel so terrible..?
"Tsukimori!" Kanazawa bellowed.
"Ah, yeah.. See you." He walked off lifelessly. Did our promise mean nothing to you...? Haruka..
Okay, so there you have it! Sorry if this chapter seemed a bit boring or filler, but I needed to catch up on a few things. I promise next chapter will be better! :) Once again, I apologize for the weird symbols, spacing, and/or formatting, for some reason Fanfiction isn't really working well. Anywho, til next time! (Oh and keep a eye out for more LCDO fics :3)
