BATB AR Version Beginning Part

~0~

"Sora!" Gasped the blonde haired reader as he jumped from Sky, skidding against the stone bridge, as he reached out and took a hold of the brown hat. The hat had been left in front of the massive iron gate, yet Roxas just smiled as he saw that it was truly Sora's, for it had an S etched on the inside, this meaning that his little brother was defiantly in this horrifying castle. So Roxas brought Sky inside the bars of the gate to make sure he wouldn't get away then walked to the front doors and placed a hand upon them. This was it.

Inside one of the parlor rooms of the castle, with a roaring fire brightly lighting up the room, two inanimate objects were bickering on top of a table.

"Oh we just had to let him in, didn't we? We just had to let him sit in the Master's chair, pet the pooch!" Lexaeus spat, spit flying from his carved lips, and waved his wooden hands around dramatically, though Vexen just rolled his eyes. The candle stick's candles were out and his brass skinny arms were folded one over the other.

"Well, sorry, I was just trying to show some hospili-"

"Sora?" The two objects froze abruptly, spinning around towards the door instantly, just in time to see a retreating head of blonde hair and a human back.

"OHMYHOLYCANDLESTICKS!? Did you see that?" Vexen cried happily as he quickly jumped from the table and was at the door in a second, with Lexaeus right beside him.

"It's a BOY!"

"I know it's a boy." Lex responded with a sharp sneer, yet Vexen was too happy to notice it, and the candle stick holder couldn't stop hopping up and down.

"Don't you see? The one we've been waiting for is HIM!" And with that Vexen bounded after the blonde young man. The brown clock was left stuttering for a moment, before he followed as well.

"Sora? Sora, are you here?" Roxas called into the never ending hallways. This place was so huge, how was he supposed to find his little brunette brother in this place?

"Sora!?" He yelled once more, no fear of being discovered present in his mind. Suddenly a loud creaking sound echoed and Rox turned quickly to the source of the sound, letting out a small 'Hello.' The door, which had been the source of the creak, had been pushed open by Lex as Vexen continued up the stairs. Roxas leaned through the door slowly, taking in the view of the room that had been revealed.

"Hello? Sora? Brother! Please, are you here?" He called but then gasped as he could see a flickering light up the stairs. So he immediately followed it, only Lexaeus watching his figure as he ascended. As Rox got to the top, his cape fluttering softly on the steps behind him, his eyes had to dilate to try to take in some light.

He had entered into a prison area, it seemed, that was only lighted by the illumination from the outside moon, though that was barely enough. Though with the flickering light, Rox thought that he might have seen someone, or something.

"I could have sworn…Is anyone here?" He asked into the darkness, looking around as best he could. He was about to give up and just head back the way he came, yet a small shuffling noise made him pause.

"Ro-Roxas?" A timid and scared voice asked yet Roxas had first grabbed a torch before diving toward the cell door that the voice had emerged from, and without hesitation slid his hand through the bars near the bottom of the door.

"Sora. Oh, Sora…" Rox whimpered as a hand took his own and the brunette scooted closer to the door, now the siblings able to see the other.

"Ho-How did you-" The young boy wasn't able to finish for a nasty cough tore from his lips. Rox just held Sora's hand tighter before bringing it to his cheek.

"Oh man, you're hands are like ice. Hang on, I'm going to get you out." Rox was then about to pull away, but Sora whimpered loudly and tightened his grip on his older brother's.

"NO, Roxas! You have to go! Leave, before he gets you too!"

"What are you talking about?" Roxas asked, fear starting to become present as Sora reached out and cupped his chin.

"Please, Roxas, just run. While you still have a chance."

"No way, I will not leave you! Now-" Yet before Roxas got a chance to even utter another sound, a massive weight slammed onto his shoulder, and if he didn't know any better he would say claws had dug into his skin. None of the matter, of course, as he force to turn around roughly.

"What are you doing here!?" The torch had slipped from Rox's hand, leaving the tower once again to bath in the loom of the moon's glow, but it now meant that Roxas was to desperately search from where such a deep though unpleasant voice had come from. Sora had, also, yelled out for the blonde's name, though no one occupant of the room cared to notice and Rox swore he saw a flash of green before him.

"P-Please…who's there? Who are you?" The unlocked up sibling stuttered out, still trying to find a figure's silhouette.

"The master of these grounds, which you are wrongfully trespassing on!" The voice just spat back, yet the sneer of anger was present as well.

"I've come for my brother…" Roxas started as he moved closer, now almost seeing a clear figure, but not truly.

"Please, let him go. He's all I have!" The blonde begged but the voice just gave a low growl.

"That's not my problem. He's my prisoner now, you be gone."

"NO! Please, I'll do anything! There must be something!" Rox's eyes widened as it seemed the figure was beginning to move away, as if to ignore the blonde. Rox, though, came even closer, the small rectangle of light making his feminine features shine, and he then said the only thing he could think of.

"Take me! Take me in his place!" He said with confidence, though his bright blue eyes showed different, if one was to pay attention.

"You?..." The figure first questioned with a sharp deep growl, but in a moment's time and unseen by no one the figure's features softened and became somewhat confused.

"…You would take his place?" Even though the voice had softened it went unnoticed by the other people in the room.

"Only if you promise to return him safely to our home." Hearing that Sora had reached out again, screaming at the top of his lungs for Roxas to just leave him, yet the two acted as if he wasn't even there.

"I'll do my part as long as you promise to stay here forever." The voice finally replied and Rox relaxed his shoulders, thinking over the situation. And there seemed to be only one thing missing. He didn't even know what his future castle mate looked like. He tilted his head just a tad and looked to the where the figure seemed to be standing.

"Come into the light."

The whole room went silent, to then be broken by the scrapping of big sharp claws against the cobblestone floor. Rox's eyes seemed to widen to an incredible size as the paw, the claws were attached to, was followed by a tall wide body. The body of a beast, it had blood and crimson red fur, what seemed to be a snout and the greenest eyes there could be. Plus just below those eyes looked to be two lines, burn marks by the look of them. Roxas couldn't help but gulp at the large fangs that stuck out of the monster's lips nor the horns that were shaped above the head.

Roxas had then shrunk back in horror before gripping Sora's gone cold again hands. The brunette only glared at his brother, before holding his cheek again.

"Roxas, don't do it, I beg of you!" He pleaded yet gasped as Roxas pulled away and stood to his full height. The blonde then bit his lip smally as he feel those narrowed emerald eyes just glaring deeply at him, none the less he stood right in front of the beast, his hands clenched at his sides.

"You have my word."

"Done!" Just with that single word, Rox fell to the floor, feeling as if the world was crumbling around him. What had he done? Suddenly, though, hands were wrapped tightly around him so he leaned up, giving his brother the strongest hug he could.

"Roxas please take it back. You-" Yet just as quickly as it had begun, it was taken away again, for Sora was ripped away from the blonde's arms. Said blonde yelling as the brunette was roughly dragged down the stairs.

Out in the courtyard, the large front doors flung open and the red monster walked outside, still dragging the young boy behind him. Sora cried out loudly, not from pain but of plea.

"I beg you, spare Roxas! Please, I need him!" But his words were ignored as he was then shoved into what seemed like a horseless carriage.

"Take him to the village." Those were the last words of the red creature before he headed back inside through his castle's front door. The carriage, seeming as if it had come to life with the command, locking its door on its own and its legs snapping themselves free from the vines that had grown on them, then began walking on its own across the bridge disappearing into the thick forest .

Up in the tower, Roxas watched as the carriage began to get further and further away until his neck gave out on him so his head just fell into his arms, loud sobs beginning to rack his core.

"Master Axel?"

"What?" The beast snapped, fire in his eyes burning brighter than the situation called for. Vexen chuckled nervously and cleared his throat.

"I may be just thinking to myself but since the boy will now be with us for some time, don't you believe it will be better if, you know, you offer him a nicer place to rest?" All the candle stick got in reply to that was a loud echoing roar, one that caused his top flame to go out.

"No of course not." Vexen added, but Axel was already in the dungeon. Rox's head rose as he heard a grunt from behind, so he turned, the blue catching with the green iris.

"You-You didn't even let me say goodbye." Was all Roxas muttered shakily before he looked back out the window again, more tears flowing down his cheeks. Wither it was the fear in Roxas's voice, tears rolling on the vanilla cheeks, or just the utter and complete hopelessness in those shinning ocean orbs that the Master caught a glance of, whichever it was, they caused a large and hard pang of guilt to strike through the red creature.

Axel stood there, not truly knowing what he was to do. He had never felt guilty before but he knew that this was the feeling he was experiencing. He then remembered the suggestion that Vexen had made so he sighed and rubbed the back of his furry neck.

"I'll…um…I'll show you to your room." Axel then mumbled and turned to the stairs.

"My room? What do you mean…"

"Do you want to stay here!?" Axel suddenly roared, and Roxas hunched backwards into the corner, violently shaking his head.

"Then follow me already!" The blond was immediately on his feet following the red beast down the stairs to god known where.

The hallways were dark and creepy, cobwebs and bugs were crawling in even the darker places. Yet Rox was more scared of the horrifying statues that lined the walls. Goblins, gargoyles, monsters, and all kinds of unfriendly creatures. He paused in his walk, turning which way and that, feeling overtaken by boarding eyes and sharp teeth. He finally let out a loud gasp of fright, before running and stopping at Axel's heels. The red owner of the castle had heard the noise and glanced over his shoulder, seeing the blonde closer now than before, plus a tear running down the vanilla cheek once more.

"Say something to him!" Vexen hissed as he stayed still in his Master's paw, so that he may light the way in the dark hallways. Axel raised an bulgy eyebrow at him for a moment then gulped, looking over his shoulder again.

"Ugh…I hope you like it here."
