# 10: Breathe Again
Pairing: PruCan
Words: 823
For almost five years he had been dead, and his life now was kind of pointless. To stay with his friends and his brother he had given up the easy path to heaven, therefor forfeiting his ability to do things like eating or sleeping. He still influenced people, but in a more subtle way than he had in life. So far not a single person could see him or hear him. It was depressing, he was forever alone. The only way he still had human interaction was that he could still interact with objects and touch people. Most deceased who chose this path committed some form of suicide, eternally sealing them outside of heaven's gates. The majority didn't last for a year.

Why was he here? Oh, that's right after graduating from college he was living in a tiny apartment because his employers kept forgetting that they had hired him. He would show up to work all week, then when it was time to collect his paycheck they wouldn't give it to him. It was a miracle that he wasn't homeless or starving by now the way things were going. Then again, he had only been in this predicament for about a month. He also couldn't expect any financial help from his family or friends because one, he didn't have any friends, and two, the only family he had was his brother and Alfred always forgot about him.
'Matthew Williams,' he told himself. 'Stop feeling sorry for yourself and go get yet another job.' So the Canadian forced himself to get into some nicer clothes and go on a job hunt.

He hadn't visited Ludwig in a while because of a moping phase.
'That is so unawesome Gilbert,' he growled to himself. It wasn't his younger brother's fault that he had died. That night instead of waiting for Antonio and Francis to be free he went out drinking alone at his favorite bar, trying to drown himself in alcohol after breaking up with his longtime girlfriend Elizabeta. The Prussian had left a sticky note for Ludwig, telling him where and when to pick him up. Punctual, as usual, the blonde showed up on time.
And found his older brother bleeding out his life on the ground.
He had been completely safe, staggering down the far side of the sidewalk away from the road, but a drunk driver seemed to think that it would be fun to run him down. Ludwig hadn't taken any first aid classes, by the time the ambulance got there he was already gone.
On the way to his brother's current workplace he notice a slender blonde man walking down the sidewalk, looking like he wanted nothing to do with the world. He appeared to be trying to distract himself by looking around, and eventually caught Gilbert's gaze. Smirking he walked over to the quivering Canadian and reached out towards him. Squeaking the blonde stumbled back, almost plowing into a wealthy looking man strolling behind him.

An albino human? If that wasn't weird than the way that he was blurry around the edges and slightly transparent definitely was. Somewhere inside he realized that staring and flinching away was rude, but it didn't matter when the stranger caught him smoothly just before he fell into a businessman. The man glanced his way before continuing on, seemingly without noticing that the Canadian was being completely supported by an albino with piercing ruby eyes. Shocked the blonde looked back over at the guy and realized that he was making faces at just about every person that passed them. Not a single one turned or stared.
Absorbed in his thoughts about the obliviousness of the other pedestrians the Canadian realized that the albino was still completely supporting all of his weight without any indication that it was straining him. Shivering inwardly he tried to pull away, but in the end the stranger was still tightly gripping his hand.
"My awesomeness will stick with you because you can see the awesome me," he said with a slightly sad smile mixed with obnoxiousness. Wiping the emotion off his face he waited for the Canadian's response.
"S-Sure," he supposed it couldn't hurt, it wasn't like he had a good chance of getting a job today anyway. He also had no plans since he didn't have any friends. As the two walked back to his apartment Matthew decided that they needed to know what to call each other as long as they were spending time together.
"M-My name's Matthew, what's yours?" He stuttered slightly, not quite sure if it was a good move or not.
"You can just call me… Awesome!"
"…"
"My name's Gilbert kid. I haven't actually breathed for five years, but now I think I may be able to again."
That was not thought out at all. I've wanted to try something like this for a long time. Well, give me feedback in a wonderful review if you have the time!
