awesomelyepicgal: Thank you so much for loving it! And yes, I will continue to the part where Elijah and Klaus appear and I can't wait for that! I hope you continue to enjoy my story. (Your pen name keeps on getting erased from the document for some reason, so I had to cut out the periods. I'm sorry about that.) :)
grapejuice101: Thank you so much for the wonderful review and here's your update! I hope I'm not too late. :D
Ruby(guest): I'm very happy to hear that you're liking the story and I hope you enjoy this chapter too. ^.^
Suzy87: Thank you for the review! I try not to make Kelsey have all Elena's part but now that I know that my readers are not annoyed by it, I'll be more than glad to make it more OC centric. It's so nice to see that you loved the end and Elena is not my favorite character in TVD (especially in the later seasons) either.
Thank you so much for the amazing reviews on the last chapter! I hope you enjoy chapter 10. ^.^
Chapter 10:
Jeremy, Elena, and I came out of the police department building, just finished being interviewed by Sheriff Forbes about Vicki's disappearance. Stefan was outside, waiting for Elena. They had both been fighting for days now, and I didn't know if my sister was going to get back with him despite what I knew from watching the show.
"Elena-" he started, but the brunette brushed pass him.
Both of my siblings and Aunt Jenna kept walking as I stopped to talk to Stefan, who looked upset by Elena's reaction.
"I don't think the Sheriff suspected anything. Jeremy had no memory at all. All he knew was what Damon made him know," I told him. Even though I was mad at Elena for letting Damon erase Jeremy's mind, I forgave her. I mean, what was done was done and there was no way of undoing things, so what was the point of being angry with my sister?
"Thank you," he said, sincerely and I nodded. After a moment, he sighed, "I just wish Elena would talk to me like before. I don't understand, you forgave me, so why not her?"
I smiled, placing a hand on his shoulder, and said, "Elena's a stubborn girl, Stefan. She doesn't forgive that easily, like I do. Just give her some time, okay?"
He nodded and took my hand in his. Giving it a slight squeeze, he said, "Thank you, Kels, for being a good friend."
I didn't know why, but my heart ached when he called me 'friend'. Shaking that awful feeling away, I smiled as I shook my head, "There's no need to, Stefan."
Stefan finally let go of my hand and I walked towards Aunt Jenna's car, feeling my hand tingle with his lingering touch in a way it had never done before.
Could I be falling in love with Stefan? I thought as I reached the car and got inside, buckling my belt and looking at Elena from the backseat. I can't be in love with Stefan, not when Elena's in love with him.
The entire ride home, I kept convincing myself that it was just me fangirling about him. But the more I tried to, the more I kept thinking about him and how perfect he was. By the time we arrived home, I was seriously annoyed with myself.
From the small couch, I wrapped my body with a soft blanket and flipped through the channels on the television.
"Boring, boring, boring, boring," I muttered over and over again, taking a break a few times to lick my ice cream cone, and returning to changing channels.
Elena was seated beside me, with her legs spread across the couch and on my thighs. She was playing with a strand of her hair, when she exclaimed, pointing at the tv, "No no, stop!"
Frightened by her outburst, I let go of the remote control and asked her, "What? Why?"
"It's my favorite show; Supernatural," she said, taking the remote control and turning up the volume.
I rolled my eyes and muttered, "Talk about obsessed."
"Shh. . ." she nudged my side and I winced. Looking at the tv screen, she added, "I'm not obsessed."
I laughed, "Yes, you are. Look at you," I cocked my head towards the tv screen and continued, "you're drooling over Sam Winchester!"
I exaggerated a bit. Elena wasn't actually drooling, but she did have that dreamy look in her eyes when she looked at the tv and Sam appeared.
"I am not!" she insisted and hit me with a pillow. I gasped from the unexpected hit, and laughed as she added, "And besides, I don't see you complaining, either."
I finished eating my ice cream cone, smiled evilly, and said, "That's because I'm to busy beating you up with a pillow!"
I took a pillow and hit her head, she raising her hands up for protection while we both laughed.
"Wanna keep it down over there?" Jeremy said from the table behind us.
We both stopped our small pillow fight and looked over the couch. He was sitting at the kitchen table, with a pencil in his hand and paper in the other.
"Is that homework? I asked, curious.
"Yes," he replied seriously.
Elena fake gasped, and asked, "Are you actually doing it?"
Jeremy looked up at us and rolled his eyes in annoyance, returning to his work. "I gotta finish this. I'm way behind and I have a quiz tomorrow so. . ."
Elena and I shared surprised glances. Finally, Elena asked me, "What do you think? Alien?"
I shook my head, and joked, "Shape-shifter, maybe? I think it's a job for . . ." I took a dramatic pause before finishing, "the Winchesters!"
Elena and I laughed at the joke, but Jeremy found nothing funny about it when he said, "He can hear you."
The next day, Bonnie had come over and I was at the kitchen making myself a snack. After I was done eating, I went upstairs to Elena's room.
Not bothering to knock, I opened the door and found feathers floating everywhere. I almost screamed, but then a smile appeared on my face as I remembered Bonnie being a witch.
"Kelsey, wait, I can-" Bonnie started, the feathers falling to the ground as she lost her concentration.
I shook my head and met her worried face, closing the door and hugging her as I said, "I knew it! I knew it, I knew it!"
"Wait," Bonnie pulled away from me, confused. "So you're not freaked out?"
I froze for a second before I laughed nervously. "Well I have to admit, the floating feathers kinda weirded me out. But you're a witch, Bonnie! I told you you were, didn't I?"
After a second, Bonnie smiled and hugged me again, "Yes, Kels, you did." Looking at both Elena and I, she told us, "It' true. Everything my Grams told me. It's impossible and it's true. I'm a witch."
Elena looked at the feathers, amazed, "I believe you."
"We believe you, Bon," I corrected and the witch sent us a grateful smile as we group-hugged. Feeling the need to say it, I told her, "And you're secret's safe with me."
"Thanks, both of you," Bonnie said and made the feathers float in mid-air again, this time dancing around us as we stared back in amazement.
Later, after Bonnie left, Elena was cleaning her room as I flipped through a small photo album that I had found in her closet. I was on her bed, looking at the photos and finding some of me when I was little. It was a wonder how even when I wasn't from this. . . dimension, I guess you could call it, I was still in the family photos looking as if I did belong here.
Noticing the weird look I had, as I looked at one of the pictures that had Elena and I posing for the camera when we were about 5 years old, Elena asked, "Is something wrong?"
I looked up at her and closed the album, making something up, "I. . . I was just wondering. . . do you love Stefan?"
I winced internally at the question, mentally slapping myself for asking her that.
Elena sighed, taking a seat on the bed, "I don't know. I used to get butterflies in my stomach every time I saw him, but not anymore. After he told me what he was, things changed. I don't trust him anymore, Kels. Not after he lied to me." There was a moment of silence before she asked me, "Why do you ask that?"
I looked at her brown eyes. Those same eyes that once looked at Stefan with love, and I bit my lip nervously. Should I tell her? I thought. She's my sister, of course I can tell her. But what if she gets mad? It's not like I'm stealing her boyfriend from her. I mean, they broke up right? Oh my god, this is so complicated!
Finally, I decided on what I should tell her.
"Because, I think I might be in love with him," I blurted out, instantly regretting what I said the moment it was out of my mouth.
Elena stood back, surprised. She didn't say anything for a while, just looked at me.
"Oh," she said after minutes of agonizing silence.
Oh?! Just an oh? What was that supposed to mean anyway?
I fell back on the bed, voicing my thoughts, "Come on, Elena, say something! Like, 'you backstabber!' or 'I hate you, go to hell!'. Anything but an 'oh.'"
Elena began to laugh all of a sudden and that made me feel worse.
Why was she laughing? I wasn't being funny! This was serious.
As if reading my thoughts, she told me, "Why should I hate you, Kels?"
"Because I'm in love with your freakin' ex-boyfriend?!" I stared at her, not understanding what was so amusing about this situation.
Elena put on a serious face, asking, "Don't you remember?" I shook my head frantically and she continued, "You and Matt? That doesn't ring a bell?"
I stared at her, confused. Then, I realized what she was trying to say.
Oh my god, I was in love with Matt Donovan, too?!
She continued, "You were the one who liked him ever since we were kids, so when I told you I was dating him you were heartbroken, but smiled and told me that it was fine. That, in fact, we made a great couple."
"Oh yeah, I did. Sorry, I didn't remember," I nodded, still confused, but I didn't let her know that.
She pulled me into a hug, saying, "Kels, I will never hate you after what you did for me and Matt." She finished hugging me and said sincerely, "I understand that you may be in love with Stefan. And I promise I won't be mad at you if you decided to go out with him, either."
I smiled, "Thank you, Elena."
Going down the stairs to make dinner for the family, I noticed that Elena was closing the door.
I stopped, asking her, "Who was that?"
"Stefan," she replied.
"What did he want?" I asked again, both of us going over to the kitchen.
Taking a seat at a table, she explained, "He wanted to tell me that Lexi was just a friend and he invited me to the party at the Grill."
"Oh, the blonde chick you found wearing nothing but a towel when you went to see him?" I asked, referring to Lexi, as I took out the ingredients for spaghetti and meatballs.
"Yeah," she sighed, "turns out she's a vampire, too."
I faked to be surprised, since I already knew who Lexi was, "Oh, that makes sense." Placing the box of pasta on the counter-table, I said, "You know what, we're going to that party. I'm sick and tired of being cooped up in here all day, and you seriously need to talk to him, too."
"Kelsey, no," she started to whine but I shushed her.
"No, my decision is final. So go on now, get pretty, 'cause we're going," I told her and she put on a pout as she made her way to her room.
As soon as I stepped inside the Grill, I gasped, taking everything in, "Wow, this is a lot of people."
Hearing what I said, Elena shrugged, "Leave it to Caroline to make a party this big."
Trying to get through the crowd of dancing teenagers, I muttered, "Yeah, no kidding."
Elena went to get us drinks as I looked for a place to sit, which apparently there wasn't. It took me a second to find Stefan with a blonde girl that I knew was Lexi playing at the pool table. They were laughing and having a good time and I smiled from were I stood. Suddenly, Damon blocked the view of the two vampires and gave me his trademark smirk.
I rolled my eyes and frowned as he told me, "Stefan smiles. Alert the media."
I crossed my arms over my chest and asked, "Tell me, Damon, how much do get payed?"
"For what?" he arched his eyebrow while his smirk grew.
"For being such and ass," I replied, earning me a small laugh from him that made him look . . . sexy. I blinked a few times and cleared my throat, washing away the thought of him and continued, "And you haven't given him a lot of reason to be happy lately."
"Oh, you're right. Poor Stefan persecuted throughout eternity by his depraved brother; does it get tiring being so righteous?" he asked sarcastically.
"It flares up in the presence of psychopaths," I turned to him and left.
From behind me, I could hear Damon's sarcastic voice saying, "Ouch! Well, consider this psychopath's feelings hurt."
I rolled my eyes once again and turned to him to ask him about Jeremy's unusual behavior, "What did you do to him?"
"I'm gonna need a less vague question."
"When you wiped away Jeremy's memories of Vicki, what else did you do?" I questioned.
"Elena asked me to take away his memory of fangs and all the bad stuff. She wanted me to take away his suffering," he answered and I was amazed about the seriousness in his voice.
I fake gasped and sarcastically said, "Damon's being serious. Oh gosh, we better alert the media."
His lips curled up into a smirk as I walked away, seeing Elena with our drinks.
As I approached her, Elena explained, "Sorry, I took so long. I was talking to Lexi about Stefan."
"Oh yeah, about what?" I asked her seating in front of her and taking a sip from my iced tea.
"I think Stefan and I can be friends, and set aside the whole vampire thing," she smiled.
I smiled, too, "That's great, Elena!"
Elena was talking to Bonnie and I had just come out of the dance-floor when I saw Stefan. Well, actually, Stefan saw me first."
"Hey," he smiled, "you came."
"Yeah, I couldn't miss your 162th birthday, could I?" I smiled back.
"How did you know?" he asked.
"I did the math," I answered, laughing a bit.
"No," he shook his head and he clarified, "how did you know that it was my birthday?"
"Oh," I realized and said, "Elena told me after you stopped by at the house."
I told him about Elena forgiving him and being ready to be his friend. He seemed a little disappointed about it but he didn't seem heartbroken like I expected, either.
"Oh my god," Stefan stopped mid-sentence and looked up.
I turned my head in the direction that he was looking and saw Lexi being dragged off by policemen. It was hard to tell but she seemed to be vervained. Quickly remembering that Damon had set her up in the episode, I followed Stefan to the door.
A police stood in front of the door and shook his head at us, "Can't go out this way."
Stefan let out a frustrated sigh and grabbed my hand, "There's another way out."
We ran out through the back door of the Grill and turned the corner to see Damon staking Lexi. Anger and horror rushed through me as I saw her body go down to the floor. Tears fell down my eyes as Stefan covered my mouth and pushed me back onto his chest. He was breathing hard and fast and I realized that he had seen it too. Stefan had seen Damon drive a stake through his best friend's heart.
If I was feeling angry, I didn't know how Stefan was feeling like as he pulled me away and to the town's square.
He was raging mad as he walked, saying, "He killed her! He killed Zach; he killed Tanner; he turned Vicki; I have to kill him!"
I followed him, picking up my pace as I tried to catch up to him. I grabbed his arm and stopped him, saying, "No, Stefan. Don't-don't say that."
"Why are you trying to save him?! He's never gonna change, Kels! Don't you see that?! He's never gonna change!" he said angrily and teary-eyed.
He kept walking and I said behind him, "It's not him, Stefan! It's you! You have no idea what this will do to you."
He stopped to look at me, "Everywhere I've been, pain and death follow; Damon follows me. No more."
"No," I ran this time to stop him. "I am not going to let you do this, Stefan. Just talk to me, please," I pleaded as tears fell down my eyes. "Let me be a good friend, just like you said. Stefan, please."
He took my hand away from his arm and shook his head, "No. . . just stay away from me, Kels."
I ran my hands through my hair in exasperation as he walked away from me. I felt my heart fall apart as I slowly fell down to the ground, crying.
A/N: AHHH, Kelsey finally confessed that he's in love with Stefan and Elena is okay with it! Unfortunately, he kind of broke her heart at the end, but no worries it was just a little crack and things will get better between them.
Also, how do you guys feel about Damon/Kelsey? I have an upcoming full chapter only for them and I really want to know how you'll feel about that. And happy 2014 to everyone!
Once again, thank y'all so much for reading and reviewing and please make sure to check out Kelsey's outfit on my Polyvore profile (link can be found on my profile)!
